@Iclarakl, I don't think Gun-Sera's relationship was fly by night.  I just think it was a lop-sided love in which one loves more than the other.  I think Sera cared for Gun, which is why she knew instinctually something was wrong when he hung up the phone first.  Whether that love was because Sera knew she could depend on Gun to fulfill her needs or something else is debatable...
I've read a lot of posts about them not talking for two months.  But here's my take, this is probably not the first time this has happened with them.  If you consider the time zones, Sera getting settled in NY, the amount of practice required and etc., it's highly likely it would be about 2 months before the actually talked to each other.  However, there may have been letters, emails or text messages.  But who wants to tell their girlfriend of 6 years over email, in a text or letter that they not only got married, but have a child on the way.  Just my take :-?

You make the suggestion that if Se Ra was the main girl we would call what he did cheating? Well, I still wouldn't. To me it doesn't make a difference To me the main point is that he was drugged. And blaming him is the equivalent of blaming Mi Young of cheating on Lawyer Min (except who cares about that bastard) We are blaming the victim here. Seriously every time I read the word cheating I feel like screaming like Ross in Friends "We were on a break!!!!!" (except that guy did cheat lol)

@chunnogirl33 - love your opinions.  At some point, Geon actually made a decision to see SeRa in NY to personally tell her the truth - in his own  words to his secretary, he said 'this is not right'.   I  completely agree with your opinion that one reason he is not able  to tell SeRa the truth every time they are on the phone is  his concern over SeRa's well being - especially knowing she will be doing  a performance in  front of a big crowd.  Hasn't he been acting this way lately too when it concerns MY?  Geon may be harsh with words sometimes but he, like MY has a soft heart in him.

SeRa didn't even consider Geon's action as cheating - she just said 'he had a change of heart'.  But labeled him  as someone 'cruel' for making her  believe his heart  still belongs to her.

Just because it may jeopardize both her career and Gun, it don't mean that he should wait to tell her! She's ought to know! WHEN he decides to tell her may make a difference and change the outcome of circumstances! One couldn't always receive everything one desires! One has to give in order to receive! One has to sacrifice something over the other! One may have to sacrifice all! It's tough! Life's tough! On the other hand, why the heck didn't Sera ever call him once asking how he's doing, feeling after she made the decision all by herself to leave for her profession knowing he was in preparation of going to propose to her! But instead, she waited for him to call her first! And how long was that! About 2 to 3 months! Hello woman! That's crazy! She's crazy! If you don't hear from your man in that amount of time, shouldn't you be contacting him then! What if that's his way of breaking up to you since you chose your career over him! Geesh wiz! Both of them are just not meant to be! Enough said!

  5. Okay, I couldn't hold out until episode 10 before watching.  Having watched the Taiwanese version and now watching this one, I like their individual spin on the stories. In the TW version, I had moments where I hated the male lead and thought the female lead was beyond weak to be treated the way she was. I could not call him a faithful husband in the TW version. I'm not sure what I will call Gun as this version continues--it doesn't clarify whether he stayed the night with Sera or not. It appears he didn't because of the note he left for her. But it also seems he didn't go home.  TW version was a little more clear cut and disappointing in that regard. That being saying, I'm finding this version just as enjoyable as the TW version.

It appears to me that Sera took Gun's love for granted. It almost seems as if he loved her more than she loved him--hence the comment of him hanging up the phone before her. Not to mention it seemed that he was always waiting on her.  I didn't care how the writers handled the humiliating dinner party scene. Although Gun came to her defense, it was more like a backhanded compliment. Not a violent person myself, put it would have given me great joy if he had picked up a glass of water and tossed it back into the lady's face.

We're at the midway point. It was at this point in the TW drama where the female lead made her transformation. I'm interested to see if the writers will keep it similar--I hope not because that was absolutely heart wrenching, but I'm curious as to what will bring her to her senses.  This drama is only 16 episodes unlike the TW version which was 24 episodes and also contained some fluff.

It's not a good or bad thing, it's just that her dream is one that comes with a price that she's ready to pay. It would be better for her to date someone who fully understands a touring dancer's schedule (maybe another dancer). I'm sure Gun would love to fully support Sera, but in reality, he needs someone who's around more often. His parents have died and he has no siblings or close friends. I can imagine he's quite lonely. Additionally, Gun is under a lot of pressure, while Sera has insecurities (that'll come up later) and pressures. There's love in their relationship, but it's not the kind designed to last decades, and withstand life tragedies. I think their reasons for holding on to each other stem from a familiarity, desperation and loneliness. Ultimately, it would be best for them to split and work on their personal demons.

  7. Okay, I want to apologize for lying to this thread when I said that I would wait until 10 episodes were loaded before I began watching because I knew I would be addicted--basing this on my absolute love for the Taiwanese version of the drama.  However, I got stuck at the doctor's office and was bored stiff. So I needed a distraction and chose to only watch the first episode--well you know the rest is history.

Although there are similarities to the Taiwanese drama, I do like that the Korean version has it's own twist. I just hope they don't go over the top when Se Ra reappears. In the T-version of the drama--I really had moments of extreme disappointment in the male lead.  In this drama, I'm not sure I care for the crazy forced laughter of the male lead because by the end of episode 4 he appears to have descended into craziness/madness.

In regards to Se Ra, I can appreciate her wanting to progress in her career, but it seems that she only wants to be with him when something goes wrong in her career. When it was determined she wasn't going to be in the performance, she came home to him. If this is similar to the T-drama, when she gets hurt she will come home to him--however, this version may be different.

I'm looking forward to watching this version.  Until the next episodes, I think I'll rewatch the Taiwanese one.

  8. As much as I really want to watch this drama, I'm trying to wait until it's at least 8 to 10 episodes aired. I absolutely loved the Taiwanese version which caused me to have a host of different emotions: warm and fuzzy, frustration, anger, resentment, forgiveness, happiness and purely entertained.  We'll see if I can hold out, because I really want to watch.  So until then, I'll be MIA---if I read this thread, my resolve will completely disappear and I'll be counting down until next Wednesday and Thursday..... :))

    So until later, enjoy!!!!

  10. I know I'm cheating, but I wanted to wait until all the episodes were loaded before I watched. I wouldn't even read this thread for fear I would be sucked in and want to start watching immediately.  Now that I've began watching this drama and reading through some of the threads, I can see it became like a real "family" discussion with opposing opinions.  The good thing for me is I waited and can enjoy the fruits of your labor and the insight that your posts provides.  So to each of you that participated in this thread I want to give you a big..........

    THANK YOU!

    :)

. I too have a problem with cheating but that doesn't stop me from appreciating the skill of the writer, director and actors involved without rooting for the OTP in any way (granted I'm not one to go into "shipper mode" that easily

    :)

) ). I'm not even sure the writer is trying to make us root for them that hard since we are reminded quite often in these 4 ep  that their relationship isn't exactly acceptable. But at the end of the day we all have a line we don't cross when it comes to Kdrama (me included) and since we poor drama addicts have to stick together I support your decision regarding

    SLA

    whatever it may be  \m/

  12. I wonder how many women and men cheating on their spouses, girlfriends, or significant others felt the same connection as these two; whether it's in similar work, sports, entertainment, etc. that brings them together.  Having seen homes torn apart by betrayal, I can't watch a drama that glamorizes cheating.
I loved the beautiful piano playing--absolutely beautiful, but I can't allow myself to be drawn into a drama where I'm rooting for two people to have an affair while both are in relationships and one being married--it goes against my convictions.  Rooting for them makes me feel like I'm rooting for the woman who cheated with my best friend's husband.
That said, for those of you hanging in there--enjoy!

  13. I just watched the first two episodes and haven't decided if I will continue. At this point, I'm not hooked enough where I can't drop it. I'm having an inner conflict because I can't support adultery no matter what--so I will see how it goes. I have to the applaud their acting performance. I feel the intensity as they play the piano--you can see the story.
I thought it was interesting that after playing a piece together, it was hard for them to look at each other. It was like two strangers had made love and when it was over, they were brought back to reality. They truly bared their souls while playing.  I can tell by the different characters in this drama that it is truly a melodrama and it seems a little dark when I'm hoping for inspiring. We'll see how it goes in the next couple of episodes.  At this point, I'm not on the edge of my seat counting down the days. I hope it becomes a drama that I can get fully behind because I do like the actors.
