@briseis @gf sherry both of you listed my fav scenes. How it all started and desperate OhGong was, to have SunMi cling onto him. But when she came out to bid goodbye he completely lost it. And SeungGi totally delivered the scene. Eyes lined in redness from holding back tears, staring into SunMi with so much pain and anger he is feeling.
I’m not sure if it was written into the script or Seung Gi’s own reactions but OhGong’s lips perched when SunMi gave him a kiss. Like subconsciously OhGong is accepting her kiss and sort of kissing her back. And OhGong has this perplexed look thereafter. I’m not sure he was perplexed on (a) why she kissed him or (b) why he actually kissed her back lol

I see there are some discussions on the LTC Rock Fish's command. From my understanding of Korean (not expert here), he said the point is who takes responsibility and he is definitely not interested to be the party responsible. Hence he clearly said if the Arab Prince dies, just blame it on the doc who did not operate.
"The doc" here clearly points at Doc Kang. I think YSJ, after pondering, decided to go against his superior's commands not entirely because of Dr Kang. Naturally she is the motivation of his pondering, but he also cares about this men and will not order them to do something not honourable.
From my recollection, he asked Dr Kang "Can you save this patient?" He said "patient" and not "Arab Prince". I supposed it shows he was trying to assess the situation as plain as it is, a patient in need of medical attention. Minus all political implications.

Thanks for the info chingus!
So it means Captain Yoo and Doctor Kang using jodaenmal means they aren't that close yet (?)
Can't really say so. Since they are both elite in their field, I reckon the reason is probably because they respect each other. Hence they don't speak in banmal. Doctor Kang has a few occasions used banmal on YSJ tho. But not vis-versa.

Soooo I googled how doctor translated in Korean word and it says Uisa and I heard it that the hospital director call her Kang Uisa so it's accurate but as far as I remember from episode 1 Captain Yoo calls Doctor Kang (Kang SanSaeng?) and the other younger nurse calls her (Kang Saeng?) and I don't know why (and where) they need to used banmal or jondaenmal (does Captain Yoo and Sgt Seo use banmal?) (before I think I heard Cpt Yoo use the word YAH to Leutenant Yoon) can somebody explain it to me thanks!

In korea, doctor is ulsa (울사) and a professor or teacher is song seang nim or short form to son seang (선생님/선생). So doctors can be called ulsa or song seang especially if the doctor is a professor in which KMY is.
I hope I got it right. My korean is so rusty now. Stop too long.
@kokodus oh gosh. I still haven't do ur challenge . Just got off work. I too wanted to post pics. Pls PM me when u know how. Hahaha.
Doctor = 의사 (uisa). But it is used more like a profession, not quite used as a title.
선생 (songsaeng) = Teacher. But I do realise that it's being commonly used as a title not just for Teachers but also for "learned" professions. Doctor is one.
The younger Doctors & Nurses called KMY Kang (쌤) Ssaem. I'm not sure of the reason, but I suspect 쌤 is the short form for 선생님 (songsaengnim), which is a more honorific way of calling "Teacher".
Usage of jongdaemal is a default. Within the army, the highest honorifics is a must. But as a Captain, YSJ speaks banmal to his men (except to Sgt Seo). The same explains for Lt. Yoon since she is of lower rank than him. I don't recall YSJ using banmal w SDY. I suspect the reason is because SDY was his instructor in the past.
Banmal can only be used sparingly, with someone close to you. If used at the wrong time, situation, you can make the other person angry.
I'm not a Korean, so I hope my explanation is right. Lol

I supposed YSJ must get hurt right? We have him saving KMY. The reverse will happen also. KMY operating on YSJ for gun wound maybe. If KES doesn't do that I really will salute to her.

Loving the hug scene - in my eng sub, he hugged her and said "so adorable". Is it accurate? I thought the "adorable" was a little out of place in the conversation and maybe it was ad lib again by SJK. His smirk at the end was as if he was amused that SHK managed to respond with his ad lib well. Anyone thinks like me?
What he said literally means "pretty" (ye-peu-da"). But under certain context it can mean cute/adorable. Or being favoured.

This is such a beautiful comment from the dramabeans recap that I had to share. This is the stuff we miss by not knowing Korean.. like Argus we all need to promise to learn Korean
I was blown away by Mo-Yeon’s insight that if he keeps protecting her with his lies, lies she can’t argue with because they’re matters of national security, one day they’ll have nothing to talk about because the trust in their relationship will have eroded away. I wanted to weep when Shi-Jin retorted (in banmal no less; he rarely drops the jondae when he talks to her) “talk to me, tell me everything because everything you say matters to me.” I think one key aspect of his attraction to her is that she’s so grounded in reality, this is a woman after all who was worried whether her financial situation would affect her mother while she called out her will over the phone. And I think he craves the normalcy she could bring to his life. I wanted to shout back ‘no she doesn’t!’ when he struggled to ask the big question, “do you want to break up with me?”. But of course, all of her objections and misgivings are valid, and I love how she reached the compromise that allowed her to give their relationship a chance. Most of all, I admire her courage, the kind of courage that asks him, “give me the right to worry about you, let me shoulder your burden with you, don’t let me wallow in doubt whenever you’re not with me, if you’re in danger, I want to know.” His love for her must have blossomed like a hundredfold, because mine did.

My flawless OTP
Did he use banmal? I don't think so. He did add the "yo" behind the word important (jong-yu-hae-YO). Even if he didn't use it after "say it" (ye-Ji-hae). My understanding is that u can skip one "yo" if the 2 sentences are supposedly connected.
i might have mistaken. But so far other than 2 occasions she used "Yah" on him and the time after he rescue her from the car she used banmal on him. As far as I remember, YSJ never used banmal on her, maybe except for "ahh.. I am Oppa.." in the cinema. But that sentence is more like talking to himself rather than to KMY.

I read about some comments on why YSJ continued to lied when KMY asked him if he had said any other lies in addition to the Haunted Village kids. I think the writer really put in a lot of effort on this scene. I would probably disagree if YSJ suddenly becomes an open book and confess. He has his reasons for saying those lies. Those reasons still remains valid as they speak. In addition, his job requires him to keep many matters classified. Hence the lies and the jokes to cover the lies like what KMY said. So I can fully understand why YSJ did what he did.
KMY is also very real. Everyone of us just want to go to our love ones at the end of the day and complain about horrible drivers, crack our heads over what to have for lunch or rant about why the delivery is late etc. This is so real. But to say all these trivial matters to someone who uses their body as bulletproof vest, kills or rescue for the nation etc, I too wouldn't be able to do it.
it is really an emotional burden being with someone like YSJ. Everything Agus said is true. YSJ is mysterious, he will disappear from time to time and who knows, one day he really might never come back. If it is an official assignment she probably will be informed when and where he died, but if it's another black operations, she will never know. Such overhang can really be draining on any r/ship. I am glad this show the couples talk. And they respect each other's space. As much as it hurts YSJ that KMY may want to break up with him, he didn't grab her or stop her when she walked away saying she needs to think if she can handle someone like him. He never uses the fact that he risked everything to safe her etc to try to will her to stay with him.
The scene where KMY think back to seeing YSJ internal struggles on killing Agus is also very well done. And shot so beautifully. As painful a scene for her to see him kill a man, it is even more painful for him to kill a friend. His agony, sadness is done so perfectly by SJK. I can really feel his pain. I think that is probably when she realised that she wanted to protect him as well as hence want to try to handle this r/ship.
Really loving ep 12 and I have only watched it twice. Lol.

I saw some comments or comparison to TVN's Signal. I am watching this drama now and it's good. It very gripping and mysterious. It's definitely a good drama. But it's silly to compare them because genre is just different.
Whatever is it, both are good dramas. *thumbs up*
I feel KES do better w more mature love lines. Heirs just *cough**cough*. Gentlemen's Dignity was funny. Refreshing as most drama don't focus on older men or women.

의약품을 싣고 오던 트럭 앞을 불길한 그림자가 막아선다.Help us, @parisonheaven, dear )))
I will try to translate a little.
SDY & YMJ have been isolated for treatment (tho preview looks like just YMJ?) and medicube is used as the treatment centre for the virus.
Both the army and the doctors are doing their part to combat the virus.
Last sentence I'm not quite sure. It says something about an ominous shadow in front of the medical supplies truck?

On the conversation on "running away", it's true he said "lets run away together" but the reason he gave was something like running away should include a man and woman (ie "run away" like elope). To me it is meant to be a joke since Dr Kang wanted to "run away". That is how I understood it. Not so much of how it was translated. Someone who is better in Hangul please help out.
thats why I don't see her nodding as like acceptance of YSJ. More like appreciating his joke.

3 times KMY rejected YSJ.. Could it be these 3?
1) cafe.
2) abandoned shipwreck? he asked how she has been and her answer was that she wasn't here willingly and will be heading back to get her place back. The way I read her words is that she has no time and no interest to be cozy with him is Urk. = rejection?
3) she asked for an apology for the kiss.

Loving the last scene. YSJ is so sincere. I think if you know the other person has no feelings for you it's probably easier to let go. But for his case it's so hard. He is always so straight forward in confessing. No games. Just pure sincerity.
i also love how professional YSJ is. He was using banmal on the scumbag manager (because he just don't deserve any respect) but once there is a crisis, he still protects him like any other civilian.
I admire KMY's strengths and her professionalism. Doctor cant saved everyone. And she has to make the hard choice. It's so sad.

JCW looks like a handsome vampire wearing those red suit. What a pity the event was eventually cancelled due to crowd issue. It would have been amazing showcasing him with that red suit.

Wished we could read the txt on the plague from Healer DC. Loved the pix they picked for the plague. I'm sure it's one of our top favorite for our OTP.

He looks dashing on his way back frm HK to Incheon. I guess he raising in fame can be viewed both ways. Good for his career but so bad for his privacy coz he is now being mobbed every where he goes
Like that he still quite humble and he really looked worried when a fan fell down.

I hope SeungGi can perform this song live in his next concert. Like what he did for Lee JaeHa’s theme some “Love is Crying”. This is totally 50’s song (some ominous lyrics but I will ignore that for now) and I would like SeungGi to express this song himself.
