Nahhhh I want ever tired Dragon Seok min for Sun Bin. They have stressed that Captain Ahn and Sun Bin are only friends not once but twice in the show. Not everyone is like Jeong won who blatantly lie through his teeth to his loved ones. Don't get me wrong I do love him, but I'm never letting him go for that Yangpyeong lie :P Hahahaha.  We will have some one new for Captain Ahn in the next season. We can always have looney to make a cameo.....Eeeeeeeeee

Dragon and Seon Bin are SOOOOO CUTEEEEE  That ship hits my heart unexpectedly, all in the right places though  hehehhhhhh

Next season, we gotta have uri GyeolUl made up some lies about not being able to go on a date with JeongWon, but actually heading to YangPyeong due to Mama Rosa's pleading request to hide it from him. :w00t: Then have him finding out later and rushing over to YangPyeong to prevent Mama Rosa to over-interrogate his precious GyeolUl just to find out that Mama Rosa now is completely smitten over GyeolUl so much that she completely disregards her own beloved maknae.  I like this kind of 'revenge' I'm telling you B)

  3. Iksong and Winter Garden types of love stories are my favorite troupe: longterm friends (potentially each other's crushes when younger that somehow missed the timings) turning lovers and first impression not good but gradually turning to affection.

I'm gonna dissect these two couples for a bit.. sorry for the long post!

    Iksong:

    - We all know that they liked each other at some point in their 20's. But we didn't get any confession from either side. Ik Jun didn't confess because of Seok Hyeong.. We don't know why Seong Hwa didn't confess. We need more of her flashbacks and POV in Season 2.

    - I think SHwa had liked IkJun all these times, as in her feelings for him hasn't been properly addressed/fully touched upon yet... so it just kinda lingered there for years since she sees him constantly. Her life from her 20s and 30s turned busier and more hectic, which had perfectly suppressed/masked those feelings even more until she's just used to it when hanging out with the group. It's like an unanswered feelings of 'will we/wont we' covered temporarily in a jar with a lid on.

    - Even before all the confessions, there were so many instances where she subconsciously smiles and turns quite soft towards Ik Jun, it's like they're in the 'some' state again lol

    - So then when he indirectly confesses, that lid pretty much sprung opened, making her face those unanswered feelings again. But due to his recent divorce and the group's friendship dynamics, she keeps hesitating and brushing off the first two 'indirect confessions' (breakfast scene and spin the bottle tipsy-IkJun scene karaoke-ing) because she wasn't 'forced' to really face IkJun directly yet. Since SHwa is quite a logical person, there's a lot for her to have to consider in regards to saying yes to Ikjun, which I completely understand why she would have to do that in such situation.

    - For this whole first season, we've never seen SHwa become completely vulnerable yet. She stays true to her character as the emotional pillar for the Lacking Five, for her department, and even the younger residents/interns. People that always keep themselves headstrong tend to keep their own vulnerability to themselves when they're alone (her fighting the nervousness and anxiety in her car before hearing her core biopsy result). So hopefully she can finally open up/be open with her vulnerability with IkJun in the upcoming season <3

    - Both of them are shown to have both high IQ's AND EQ's (though SHwa's EQ seemingly higher). For them to get together, their hearts will have to work way harder to defeat their minds lol. And so far, we have Ik Jun let his heart win to finally confess his feelings. Now we need SHwa to be able to do so as well.

    - But you know.... the fact that she doesn't reject him outright like how she did to Chi Hong and Seok Hyeong pretty much confirms for me that her feeling for him is mutual. ;) That is enough for me right now lol. I can't wait to see the progress of her slowly reciprocating/opening up to accept Ik Jun in the upcoming Season(s)!!!

    WinterGarden- uri JeongWon and GyeolWool

    - I LOVE THESE BABIES.

    - I rewatched the episodes like almost 10 times already to pick up more hints and moments of them, even when there is so few.

    - I love the angst that he's fighting within himself about this 'new' feeling for the 'unexpected type' of girl that he was so sure that was not his cup of tea in the beginning, to the point of questioning his own childhood dream of becoming a priest.

    - To those that say the director should not have made it about God vs. Girl even when the PD really didn't: I personally wholeheartedly disagree lol ^_^. Having him internally stressing/choosing between priesthood and romantic love is a completely valid internal conflict. There is totally nothing wrong with that. If you had really fell so hard in love with and desperately wanted to stay someone, then you are no longer really fit to become a priest anyways. Unless you want to suppress it completely and still go through with it just to 'achieve your dream'. I'm sure that as you become a priest, you're no longer happy as you thought this path would make you. Like Ik Jun said, when the heart and the mind no longer says the same thing, it's the heart that is right. Welp, uri JW abandoned priesthood dream NOT ONLY because of this new feelings he has for GW, but also he wants to  curing/taking care of the cute smol patients of his anyways. YAY!

    - Perhaps throughout his 20s and 30s, JW had never met anyone that entered and lingered in his mind and his heart the way GW did. GW is pretty much the exact opposite of a overly sensitive, overly emotional, and overly empathetic JW: completely stoic, plain, blunt, and has difficulty sympathize/empathize with people. (Her comments/remarks to other people are always blunt to the point that it could cause misunderstanding, but she isn't aware of it herself). So when they first clashed, GW left a deep impression with JW albeit negative impression. And because of such negative impression, when stand corrected, left an even deeper impression to JW, that has slowly turning into affection

    - After the maggot incident and learned that GW is actually kind and hardworking, not like how JW thought she was, JW doesn't know how to properly deal or change his attitude/interaction with GW since he had always reprimanded her before. So he gets so awkward in her presence. And her giving him 'cold shoulders' whenever they meet (but actually her being shy) couldn't allow him a chance to change his attitude properly either lollll

    - Before JW realizes it, his eyes tend to follow her (the chocopie scene and the scene where he went to Ikjun and saw that GW quickly left-- his eyes fixed on her for a good few seconds)

    - Before JW knows it, he starts to see/appreciate her clinical/surgical skills and usually there to mentor/help her out her whenever needed instead (he's known to perform all the PED surgeries on his own without any other help, yet already have GW help and go into OR/prep OR for him since episode 5 (the domestic abused preteen twins) --- and him immediately jumping to help her better explain to the mother about the Roux-en-Y Choledochojejunostomy (yes I paused Netflix to get the term LOL)

    - UGhhh there is sooo much more of these moments that show JW had slowly falling head over heel for GW to finally seal it with a kiss.

    - I am EXCITED for their development in Season 2(and potentially 3).

    - The only complaint is that I wish there was more flashback from JW's POV other than the Emergency scenario. Like his expression after him lying about his weekend plan to reject GW's request for a meal outside of work, or how he'd fret over the text to send her after he decided not to go into the ER, or him stealing glances at GW or randomly seeing GW with MinHa in the hospital hanging out, etc. but i guess i'm too greedy.. LOL I guess I need to translate these 'frustrations' into a fanfic LOL

    - Random but I can't believe we dont have a Winter Garden shipping thread in soompi yet:scream:

  4. @Arajo81 welcome to uri GyeolWool's fan club ;) hehehehhhhhh LOVE your thoughts!

It's so refreshing to read everyone's interpretation!!! ^_^ Though it'll prolly gonna go back and forth a lot, for now, since the ship seems 'frozen' anyways, many of us can only agree to disagree

    From what I personally see:

Throughout the episodes thus far, after it was revealed that GW's crush is JeongWon, I noticed that many times JeongWon encounters directly or indirectly with GyeolWool somehow---coincidentally running into her at the elevator (although this was IkJun's matchmaking effort ), from start to end of chasing abusive dad, learning about GW in the ER---his reaction scenes were always CUT SHORT... and because it was cut short, to me it shows ambiguity... giving us viewers that 'will he/wont he like her?' Like there may be something more to it... and that something is yet to be revealed... that's one of the reasons i have hopes for this lovely WinterGarden ship

And of course that text with the ^^... again, not entirely necessary from him if she really irks him or he dislikes her... so that gives me hopes too.

Even though she's the only GS resident, Pediatric Surgery is NOT the same as GS, so for him to keep having her assist him for the surgery, follow him for ER cases, he must have built some level of trust with her skills, compared to how he thought of her back in episode 1/2.

For episode 6, in the beginning during the Jia baby case where after GW told him she explained it to the family, he only stared at her instead of outright asking her if she was blunt about her explanation or not. To me, that's some progress, and... that gives me hopes that his feelings/view of GW had changed for the better, not necessarily romantic, but definitely more positive. :)

Well Dr Jang is the only female resident in GS thus she is a princess

She has many 'fathers' who wanna take care of her

I knowww right??? I think there's something about her skills and personality too that those 'fathers' to care for her so much... cuz if they only care at first just to want her to choose their specialty, then those artificial gestures would have stopped once she chose IkJun's HBP ... but they still continue to send msgs/check up on her when she was in the ER so there must be something special about her for them to want to take care of her like that since her outward appearance and personality are portrayed a little dry, stiff, and rough..  Mannn the more you guys pick up on these things about Dr. Jang, the more i love her character

  6. @40somethingahjumma I always LOVE reading your analyses/insights about the show since I started looking at this thread. I enjoy reading your insightful thoughts and writing style ^_^

I think that the shipping tendency is potentially due to the PD-writer duo that had given us the Reply series for the most part. Taken R88 for example, it was stated that the stories are focused more on families stories but fans still ended up having shipping war. I was on the destroyed ship for that as well... I admit that I didn't take it well on how or why my ship sank, heck i couldn't even sleep properly that night after watching the husband revelation :sweatingbullets: I know it's kinda childish and ridiculous... though not that i purposely wanted to ship them that i watch the series... it was just that how I personally interpreted the flow of the storyline to be and I guess I do prefer the type of love stories that are similar to JungHwan-DeokSun's portrayal where they potentially have feelings for each other but kept missing the timing ^_^ Life is indeed all about timings..  Because of this, after R88, I no longer allow myself to seriously 'ship' any character anymore while watching anything LOL.

For Hospital Playlist, Although I enjoy more of seeing the interaction of SongHwa and IkJun (especially after the 6th episode), I also personally love seeing the interactions of OT5 and how they care for each other. As much as I love for their interactions to never change, aka romance of them outside the group only, it's gonna be hard for it to happen though, seeing how the stories are slowly unfolding through these episodes... SongHwa will end up with someone, more likely so within the OT5 than Captain Ahn (though I like their chemistry too)

To me, I saw the similarity of my favorite style of love story in SongHwa-Ikjun: having feelings for each other but somehow having to hide it/let it go and kept missing the right timing and just went on with the course of life still be involved in each other's life and caring deeply for each other (whether that care is as friends or not doesn't matter much since caring is...caring right? why the need to put label for caring :)) The story of them right now is whether there is that right timing or not... it might be the same case for the rest of the boys too... There might have to be some sort of a big enough stimulus for the 'timing' to happen for any of them... and after episode 6, it seems like IkJun's 'timing' is coming! (but then again, we're still only halfway through this season, there are still twists and turns that can still happen)

I lovehatelove slow-burn-ish love story as well so I'm gonna fixate on/enjoying my favorite WinterGarden pairing ship for now  just cuz they're so lovely to see. Of course I wont do it in a serious matter since the potential of the ship sinking can still happen but Heck if those revelation scenes are to be shown in the upcoming episodes that JeongWon has actually been secretly caring/paying attention to uri GyeolWool in his own way, mannnnn I'm gonna get a goooooood happy sleeps LOL :w00t:

A bit of mental gymnastics to derive that that scene had anything to do with Jun-Wan in any context.

As in it's not possible/feasible? That's what I couldnt see at first too... I myself thought her crush was Ik Jun as well but after reading some analyses saying how it pointed towards JunWan instead so I was just trying to watch it again with broader mind/perspective *shrug*

Like i said, it could be just her asking IkJun if he knew about SeokHyeong's confession but pretended not to know... it could also be her implying something else, aka. him knowing who her crush was, and if it was that, then SongHwa might not have crushed on IkJun instead.. who knows... oh wellz... that's how my mind wandered off to

I wouldn't say the ship has sunk... I would say that the ship is still at port and they're still loading the equipment and setting up the rigging. ;)

And yes, he certainly did a couple of unnecessary things. He didn't have to ask... and he didn't have to text. Afterall Ik-jun stressed that she was getting better.

If this ship never sails... you and I should be writing fanfics... Social isolation and travel bans should be in place for a while.

    I'm happy to collaborate too.

OoooOOoO I'm very down for fanfics lol even when they ended up as a ship, more happy/go-lucky follow-up fanfics should do it too ^_^ Off topic but I've been obsessed with reading so many of fanfics of the Chinese Drama Under the Power lately lol so I'd love to collab for a fanfic when there's a chance!!! hehehh

Back to JunWan being a potential as SongHwa's crush back then, I could see it now.... After a rewatch of episode 6, this scene caught my attention again:

    Screen-Shot-2020-04-17-at-12-02-01-PM.pn

    Screen-Shot-2020-04-17-at-12-02-15-PM.pn

    Screen-Shot-2020-04-17-at-12-02-08-PM.pn

'Wait, you knew' could imply about him knowing who's the crush that made her reject SeokHyeong... could be just about him knowing SeokHyeong crushing on her... who knows  and if Ik Jun was her crush back then, she wouldn't be able to ask him about it so comfortably... So I can see the potential now!! But then during all the flashbacks, I still couldnt pick up on where her attention was on JunWan though...

I forgot to mention about the character development of our cutie pie SeokHyeong for this episode from the last episode. It was such a heartwarming character development from him  He seems more...

    • content, heartful
    • letting go of the hatred of his dad and the mistress and openly talking about it with others where before others may have to tiptoe such topics around him,
    • actually willing to mingle/eat together with his staff (opposed to him eating alone, playing along in previous episodes),
    • very empathetic and gentle with his patients (I know he's been good at his job, but he's also shown to become more and more gentle with his patients too; could be what made Min-Ha slowly falling so hard for him),
    • interacting/talking more within the OT5 - that savage burn of describing how JunWan and IkJun used to look like
    • smiling much more!! and actually paying attention to people around him

SOOOO heartwarming and adorable to witness <3

  9. my my my....

I swear to Buddha that after watching episode 6 and seeing how things run out, I was prepared to see similar analysis to my thoughts here but NO... I was totally off

After Episode 6 and 6 episodes so far, I thought:

    1. SongHwa's crush was Ik Jun from many of those moments (secretly staring at him in flashbacks and stuff) AND more flashbacks of today's episode seem to confirm my thoughts (at least to me) ... but many of you are convinced that her crush was Jun Wan instead... Did I miss something important??? lol
    2. Our 'Winter Garden' ship seems frozen or potentially 'sinking' :tears: since JeongWon didn't go to the ER to check up on her.. but I wanna stay optimistic because:
      1.   Him asking Min-ha about if she's her class-mate... why would he go out of his way to ask this if he has absolutely no interest? And this conversation was cut off by Ik Jun telling Min-Ha about Gyeol-Wool's ER situation.
      2. I feel like JW doesn't seem like the type that would text ^^ emoticon to people he's not super close with, especially someone that he didn't seem to approve professionally like Gyeol-Wool;;; perhaps he was feeling awkward about how to approach her properly since all the scenes have been him not happy with/approving of her actions/decision medically so to her, she may not be his most favorable professor... and as a professor, he can't not say anything either, so he's trying to resort to send a text instead.... with ^^ it'll look more friendly LOL
      3. PERHAPS IF they're indeed a ship.... in the next episodes (me being hopeful), we'll be shown these Follow-Up scenes like JW actually did check up on her in the ER while she was still sleeping, or JW slowly seeing the good traits and improvement of her work or something along the line
    3. Ik-Sun and JunWan are TOO CUTE!! One thing that made me wonder is that Ik Jun and JunWan have been friends for soooo long, shouldn't JunWan at least know or see Ik-Sun from times to times growing up though? Why does it take him all the way til age 40 to pursue her??
      1. I'm curious of Ik-Sun's past too.. hmmm
    4. At this rate, if there's a love triangle, it's prolly Captain Ahn-SongHwa-IkJun, or love rectangle, plus SeokHyeong due to his old crush with her... I can't see any other potential of her being with either JeongWon or JunWan... unless i miss something,,, or something else big that's gonna happen in the upcoming episodes!
    5. I'm boarding Rosa-JongSu ship Y'ALL!!!!!!:w00t:

  10. Wow... all of you guys' analyses on SongHwa-JeongWon couple being the endgame!!

Lawls... ya'll and your details and analyses on same gestures and all that.... although are great and amazing details... but idk why... just to put two people together as endgame based on those 'symbols' and not much on their onscreen interactions are, to me, a bit too far-fetched, no? 'oh both of them are shown putting their hands together' that must mean they will be endgame... like whaaa?? Not to put anyone down at all, I wish I had that kind of hawk-eyes to notice that too lol..

Anyways, based on the 5 episodes thus far, it's hard for me to see SongHwa-JeongWon as a potential couple now, unless the PD-writer duo pull a 'Choi Taek' where one of them suddenly makes a move on one another in the next episodes... if not, them being together (at least for this season) seems so far-fetched to me...  but then again, we're still only about half-way.. so who knows!

I forgot to comment... but GO ARAAAAAA MY GURLLL  bringing back R94 feels!! Although she's here for Ik-Jun story, I'm curious and excited for any onscreen interactions of her and JeongWon together HAHA :w00t: even better with JeongWon's oldest priest brother too (her R95 appa LOL) Cant wait!!!

Exactly right....precisely why it should not be permitted in any Hospital setting.

The guy could have knocked over a pregnant mom, an elderly patient, a child, or other

odd people in those corridors. It had a potential of creating more harm and damage

to others than what the guy already did to his kids.

Also, putting up extra effort ...or simply working extra hard... but does not get the desired results... will only get her..."participation trophy points".  Making the "right course of action" at the right time does....which was what Dr Bae did.  Let Security people or the cops do the chasing  ....that's their job.

More so...in a past ep, Dr Jang started her day by nosing around, plotting and/or tracking Dr Choir Boy.  She seems more concerned about her romantic aspirations than her desire to help people in need of care. Surprise, surprise... she got a  reprimand for exercising poor judgement on a patient.

    Just saying.  :(

Even if the security guards or the cops are there on time, they would still have to chase him down anyways through the hospital instead of Dr. Jang doing it. So there IS still a chase down of that abusive father REGARDLESS of Dr. Jang doing so, hence the risk of him knocking down people in your argument is still THERE regardless of who chased him down.

And using the same logic, all these hospital staff that these two were running through, they could TOTALLY have stopped him to prevent those accidental knocking downs but NO... they just let him run past them where they clearly saw another hospital staff chasing after him... until Song Hwa knocked him down with the giant water bottle.

When you have a crush on someone, it's NATURAL to wanting to know more about that person anyways... How's that nosing around??? When did she even plot or track him??? Plus technically she didn't get reprimanded either... JungWon neither praised her OR reprimanded her.. so technically it was't that much of a poor judgement on her part, according to everyone else...

She's just so humanly adorable and pure in this role... that's prolly why.. haha

    Jeung-won. ...............

I LOVE your analyses on these two. It's like you took my thought and put it in way better words than I could have

I really dislike Dr. Jang being nicknamed as Dr. Maggot though... that's not funny at all

Whether her crush is gonna turn successful or not, I still enjoy their scenes and interactions together. I ain't even mad if it would turn into a mentor-mentee relationship either!

Also, the scene in Ep 3 where Ik-Jun ask Jeong-Won about what he really thinks about Dr. Jang, we still didn't know what JeongWon answered yet

  13. How could some of you think that Dr. Jang picking the maggots off the patient is her showing off a big gesture??? Clearly in that scene both Dr. Bae and the ER nurse were 'disgusted' at the scene and reluctant to get the maggots off the homeless patient's leg. If patients go to hospitals for help and if doctors are reluctant to help for whatever reasons, nothing else can get done. So Dr. Jang just simply came in and did what she thought was best for the patient at that time. She did not even hesitate at all. I'm not even saying this to put down Dr. Bae in any way. She had shown to be a very competent doctor as well, very competent AND thoughtful.

Same situation with the abusive father case. Even though security was called, but if the culprit ran away, then what is the point and there is still brother twin kept captive in his house too. So Dr. Jang just did whatever she thinks is the best: trying to catch the culprit before he runs off. If you watch it again, she still did NOT even hesitate at all.

I am personally fond of Dr. Jang for her social awkwardness in everything she does. I find it quite adorable. She knows and understands of her own shortcomings and she's just trying her best to change it to improve her patient care skills. Not everyone's work ethics can be humanitarian like Dr. Ahn or Dr. Bae or our favorite Dr. Lee Ik-Jun or our well-rounded cutiepie Dr. Chae SHwa ... As long as you're aware and put in the effort to improve yourself in what you do, that's what matter.. and that's what I see in Dr. Jang.

I also find her crush on Dr. Ahn quite cute. My favorite scene, like lots of you, is when he slid her the cookies/breads and caused her to almost choke  I do see their couple potential but if they're not together in the end, I wont be mad either cuz I like Dr. Jang as she is, flawed, socially awkward, hardworking, kind, and human. ^_^

  14. The moment I saw the teaser on Netflix, I knew I'm gonna love this series and I"M HELLA RIGHT :w00t:

It's true that at first watch, everything can be quite confusing as there are so many names and characters (and the way Netflix romanized these Hangul names aren't easy to follow either... ).. but after rewatching the two episodes, I actually quite enjoy the flow of the stories actually. Very good mix of intense moments, quirks, twists, tears, and laughters.. The cast gives me the feeling of Avenger Doctors of some sort LOL GREAT ACTING SKILLS SO FAR! My favorite is our one-and-only Professor Cha Song Hwa, cool and chill! Chu-ah!

    - Did anyone notice in the first episode, the resident that came out to inform the lady guardian of the son that needs the liver transplant (Ik Jun ended up operating on in place of the injured surgeon) and the elderly mother that has stage 1 cancer was the GS only resident that's always stoic and blunt ??? That darn little brilliant detail even makes sense with her (elaborated more in ep 2) personality...

    - All of the 1999 hairdos of OT5 had me in stitches

    - Dr. Cha drank 5 raw eggs ya'll.... FIVE!!!!!! :fearful: I know they're prolly pasteurized but DAYMMM FIVEEEEE?????

    - Even on 2nd time watchings, the priests and nuns siblings reveal still managed to make me laugh so much LOL

    - UGHHHHH the 'Who's the CRUSH?' game ... haizzz I'm gonna try to not be so emotionally attached to try to guess and jump on any couple ships... but I think the crush was Ik Jun as well (maybe it was just a past crush and any development now with anyone is fair game)

  15. OMG! I'm away for 1-2 days and THIS THREAD REACHED 100 PAGES??!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

This goes and shows how much charm uri Jun Yeol has on everyone, especially the soompiers :w00t::wub:

Can't wait til more movies/articles from him being translated/eng subbed so he can be loved more and more and more.

However, the only thing i'm scared of is that when he's in the center of attention so much, the media/netizens would start nitpick everything that he does -____-'' and it would stress him out and stuff.. Please be FAMOUS but don't be too popular, Jun Yeol-shi! [what the heck am I even saying.. lol]

Ryu Junyeol says he wants to work with Hyeri again

Star News - Naver: 'Entertainment Weekly' "Unrequited love was sad... I want to act with Hyeri again"

    1. [+15,735, -1,050] All I cared about was you Junghwan-ah

    2. [+11,150, -787] His character was really pitiful.. I was so sure that he would be the husband ㅋㅋㅋ

    3. [+8,464, -956] Please do reunite in a romcom ㅠㅠㅠ I really like you Ryu Junyeol

    4. [+5,832, -515] Yes, please reunite. We wanna see you two work again ㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠ

    5. [+6,515, -967] EoDaeRyu!!! The trend/it boy is Ryu Junyeol anyway~~~

    6. [+1,273, -114] The nation's unrequited love... Chilbong confessed to Najung, got to kiss her but gave up when he knew that he doesn't have the chance. Chilbong's pain is nothing compared to Junghwan

    7. [+1,375, -152] Ryu Junyeol speaks well and he seems clever.. He's full of charms♡ I love you

    8. [+1,123, -110] He said that his role model is Sponge Bob ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋHow cute is he

    Nate
    1. [+873, -92] Yeah Jungpal-ah, we were sad too ㅠㅠㅠ I hope your characters end up as a couple the next time you work with Hyeri ㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠ

    2. [+668, -73] Jungpali hwaiting

    3. [+692, -108] Work in a drama with other actresses too ㅋㅋMischievous types of roles in romcoms would fit you well ㅋㅋ

    4. [+70, -17] I agree, reunite with Hyeri in a romcom!!

Asia Today - Nate: 'Entertainment Weekly', Ryu Junyeol "I keep hearing from people that I resemble their cousin oppas"

    1. [+766, -67] It pisses me off when they cast actors who are good-looking but can't even act.. I'm thankful that he got popularㅜㅜI love Wonho-nim for choosing him for the role

    2. [+627, -54] The most handsome among ugly guys. The ugliest among handsome guys.. ☆

    3. [+603, -73] EoDaeRyu The trend is Ryu Junyeol anyway ♥

    4. [+56, -6] Did he parade around telling people that he's handsome?ㅋㅋㅋ Is having a handsome face the only thing that matters when you're an actor?? I don't understand why you have to attack someone who's just starting his career out. Having charms and acting skill are really just enough

Agreed with the first highlighted part... and the second highlighted one is sooo funny xD It's something JH would say to RJY  HAHAH

He seems like a funny/witty/sociable guy! I'm glad his 'off screen' personality is warmly welcomed by the audience too!  Hopefully he keeps accepting offers for dramas besides movies so we can see him again soon!

Annyeong, everyone! I see this thread still pretty much active even after the revelation.

I'm sorry for having you guys reading my rant after a week of trying to move on but I really need to release this disappointment somewhere.

This drama almost ruin one of my fav songs for me, Can't help falling in love, but luckily RJY's positive vibe rubs on me so I'll just be grateful that I found RJY through this hot mess.

Wise men say only fools rush in, but I can't help falling in love with Ryu

Sorry I'm cutting your post for space.

OMG You said everything exactly like how I felt about the ending of the love triangle. That's also my reason of not being able to make sense of how things just..happened like that. I didn't know about the part that Hyeri said she thought she knew DS's that DS and JH would end up together.. Is it in one of her V-Apps?

the R88 writers excel in their talent of telling heartwarming, relatable family struggles and stories that captivate the viewers' heart. But [sorry for language] I call it BS when they say that its focus is more for family instead of the husband hunt. If it really is, Why didn't they reveal the husband way sooner? why would people talk about the husband more? why would interviews with actors/actresses revolve around the husband hunt more? Why would BTS videos show more of the love scene interaction more? etc. I feel like they just announce that it's about family, not husband hunt just so that even if they give a nonsensical ending for the husband, the audience can't say anything since that's not 'their focus' to begin with ><

Another thing that didn't convince me much that TK was the husband that he had little to no struggle/sacrifice in his love story with DS. In R97, YJ struggled/was torn since his rival was his brother, and sacrificed his love for his brother, which made their love unfulfilled until years later. In R94, Oppaya struggled with his position that he had always been substituting his position as their son and as NJ's brother that he contemplated on his decision and had to hide his feelings for her. And his role as always been the big brother masked his feelings so much that it led to their temporary break-up. But in R88, TK had everything laid out for him and with one bridal style carry and drugged up kiss, he got DS, while uri JH suffered so much emotional turmoil that he had to give it up at the end. :(

I told myself perhaps I can get over my frustration and will be able to rewatch R88, but I still can't yet. ><

I agree. After watching ep18, I realize Reply 1988 is simply saving the best at the very end. The climax of this series is when JH talk about courage and hestitation in ep18. The series spend 18 episodes to show Junghwan lack of courage and hesitation(in ep1 he stare at her from the window after telling her she does not look good in hanbok and in the latter episodes he started to take more actions). It's similar to how the series spend 4 episodes to build up the 'Aigoo! Kim Sajang!' joke (everyone assumed that the 'Aigoo! Kim Sajang!' joke is for comedy purpose which what makes that moment so good. ). Junghwan is the only character in Reply 1988 that gets 18episodes of build up.

In most dramas, the 2nd lead who doesn't get the girl has less build up and focus compared to the lead that gets the girl. These are romance series while Reply 1988 is a family drama so all the time we Junghwan spend on bonding with his Mum, Dad and JB is also part of his story.

I normally don't really care who's supposed to be main lead/second lead since there are many times where second lead gets so much more recognition than main lead [female/male alike] but I very much agree with you in how much build up they had for JH's character just to have him 'out of the race' at the end.

In my biased immature mind, it's a compliment to RJY to say that he wasn't the main lead cause it's like saying he surpassed the main lead in the audiences eyes. It's a like a shade to PBG that's unfair, cause JH is the main lead. Same way that baduk stuff makes JH and TK the main opponents-leads and DS the stones. But hey, let's say all that happened in 1988 and get lost in Namibia. Happy weekend!

YES YES YUP YUP YOU GOT IT! And evidently, even in Soompi, JH-DS thread is much more active/more pages than DS-TK thread. RJY is more newbie than PBG but his soompi thread has more participants than PBG. There are news of RJY everywhere, him getting the part in big project like 'the King', interviews with EW, joining Youth over flowers, etc. Imagine how it really is in Korean fandom.. How much of an impact JH has made on the audience's heart speaks for itself everywhere.

during the interview they started talking about how he hears that he's charming rather than handsome and he was like oh women like that style of men? and the interviewer said yes and started talking about her own personal preferences when she got all flustered after realizing what she was doing lmao. her narration was like "i fell into his charms for a moment". he teases her after saying she's all red. can i please be her

OMG IM DYING she asks him if he has a role model and he's like rather than a role model i have someone i like. she asks how he shows his like for them and he says in the morning he watches them (? again i'm paraphrasing here this isn't word for word translations). you can hear the anchor in the background going hmm who could it be before they reveal the person to be SPONGEBOB HAHAHA. he says he likes him because he's so bright and lives his life so happily aw

bonus: THE CAKE HAS PILOT JUNG HWAN ON IT OMG!!!

LOLLLL Uri RJY is soo cute and hilarious... my curiosity/expectation rose up slowly as I read your comment and got shot down by his answer..

Really really hope that he and Hyeri can be coupled in the next movie/drama project! They were so compatible on screen!!!!!!!!! But I feel like it's not gonna happen that easily :'[ I'm still waiting for Go Ara and Yoo Yeon Seok to be coupled again but nothing yet... lol Hopefully RJY-HR can unite on screen much sooner!!! :w00t:

Edit: Random but I LOVEEE your avatar... soo funny and cute xDDD

Okay so imma have to ruin the fun by getting serious for one second, then I'll return to the happy spazzing fun.

As an African myself I have to say that I find the comments of "oh my gosh it's dangerous there. I hope they keep them safe" and "oh my gosh I hope nothing bad happens to them there bad country" offensive, distasteful, and also hurtful and disappointing. Africa is a huge continent, CONTINENT not a country with many many many safe countries within it. To generalize all of Africa as some terrorized and poorly developed place is down right closed minded. Let me  put it into perspective like this, I know someone here said they were from Mexico, what if the YOF team had decided to send them to Mexico and I made some comment like "oh my gosh why. with all the drug war going on there, what if someone beheads them or something. I hope the team keeps them safe" or "oh my gosh watch drugs get stuffed up their richard simmons or something.." or say they had decided to bring them to the US and I said "OMG really? I hope they don't walk into some movie theater or shopping mall and end up dead because some crazy white dude decides to mass shoot again." All of these comments would be dumb of me because I should know that incidents here and there is not representative of a whole country or nation or place or people.

Normally I would let something like this go, but it's a repeat action I notice almost everywhere when Africa comes up. People tend to generalize the continent and it's people as dangerous, underdeveloped, third world nation that you have to be extra extra careful in least you drink the water and come back with ebola or something. Africa is a very beautiful and safe continent. Like any place we have the good, the bad, and the in between. Also many countries within the continent are very well developed so if you are concerned no need; your oppas will have indoor bathrooms, the internet, buses, trains, hotels, banks, ATMs, etc They will be safe and the things they will and will not have access to all depends on not only the country but the specific place the team decides to drop them into. So if you have any sort of concern no need for it. I am sure they will be safe (yes we got police system and safe hospitals) and well provided for in Africa as they would be in any European country that never seems to bring such comments/concerns when announcements such as these are made (the whys of that are way too deep to even try to discuss it here).

If I am being way too sensitive and or reading too much into some comments, I apologize. I just, it get at you when you see these types of things happen again and again (not only here but in general).

Anyways I am so excited about RJY being on YOF because that show really allows you to see the hiarious strengths and weakness of actors and actresses that go on it. Someone mentioned it, and I would love to see Bogum being the adorable maknae that clings on to RJY hyung (I bet we'll see him cry at least once). I hope RJY's English skills helps them out and please let them be smart enough to out  smart Na PD. As for the coutry they go to, I hope it's somewhere that normally doesn't get a lot of shine like Gabon or Ivory Coast. I seen enough of South Africa tbh in tv and movies and also the world cup a few years ago. Tunisia and Morocco would be nice or...GHANA :D seriously we have so much they could see and do and eat. They would have to go to Kokrobite beach, oh and Accra (the capital and has lots to do) and visit Elmina for the castle and Cape Coast...and I'll stop because they most likely not going there and I'm getting too excited at all the possibilities....

Thank you! You're amazing!  It sucks that these words needed to be said still since people obliviously took in their own stereotypical judgments about Africa.

I know nothing about Africa yet (but at least i know it's a continent not a country like so many other ignorant people in the world out there ><) and all that the media have fed to the public so far is the jungle/third-world-like side instead of everything else. So I have yet to do my own research elsewhere. And shamefully I do have those stereotypical thoughts in mind too. So Comments like yours 'slap' and wake me up from those thoughts!

I"M EXCITED TO SEE YOF TOO!!!!!!!! I think I'm gonna do a warm-up run with R94 trio YOF eps first to see and understand how the show is first. Man I hope the eng subs will be fast for R88 so We can watch RJY interactions in reality show faster! Is the weather gonna be hot there at the time of the filming? Does it mean more shirtless moments of RJY and the boys?! :w00t::w00t::w00t:

  20.:wub::wub: Oh Ryu. My eyes are on Ryu!! Can't take my eyes off of Ryu!  [poor my punny skill]:sweatingbullets:

Though I dislike the R88 ending, I must thank this drama to let Ryu Jun Yeol's acting skill shine! Every eye blinking, every sigh, every stare, every smirk/forced smile/secret smile/happy smile of Jung Hwan character, RYJ portrays it perfectly. Very impressive for a newbie actor <3 He made me fall in love with him just like how I loved Jung Woo's acting skill of Oppaya; if not even more. RJY is not your typical handsome/cute/pretty boy but he's soooo suave and charming in his own way that captivates his fans and his audience. And His soft and gentle voice when he did the confesion/conclusion of his one-sided love sounds so heartwarming like earcandy xD.. Sorry my terms of endearment are so weird..

Does anyone know if Socialphobia has English sub? I'd love to watch it to see how he impressed the R88 PDnim to cast him.

Can't wait for his future projects <3
