DH was much harsher during his childhood because of the constant battle he had to win with no clan or family support, he had no connection or bond and preferred to stay alone.. the only people that got close to him were his foster parents.. after a long period of time he developed genuiene friendship with liansong in his own unique style.. so the part of SW being frds with DH doesn't seem right based on his background story. All of his generation treats him with familiarity and they share burdens when it comes to saving the universe but nothing suggests that he had deep Personal bonds with them.. I'm just curious to know how it will unfold..

#8 is Zhe Yan of TMOPB, who was supposed to be DH? Fortunately, the roles were switched.
Except for DH, None of those actors look good in white wig especially Deng lun and Ren Jialun they look sick and frail.

Can someone explain who were originally meant to play DH and FJ from JW studio? Was this before the casting of TMOPB ?

I'm not so sure, but the pretty boy with a pair of painted brows looks like the 1st blind date of FJ in Jiuchongtian. I just checked now and can't help but laugh. The BGM when Zhe Yan was telling FJ about DH's nightly throwing out of unwanted bed occupants, is the same BGM when DH proposed to FJ at the bridge in Aranya's dream. He's also wearing pure white in both scenes.

TQ did mention nothing like that will happen in the books so I am glad we will not live to see the day DH dies.
In the novel DH doesn't use all his cultivation to kill Demon ML & Purify MC, he was about to but they (DH & FJ) get saved at the last moment by YH, BQ & MY by using kunlun to seal the realm from collapsing ( period).. so he was able to recover quickly but since FJ is still a baby immortal, losing almost all her cultivation again was too much for her to recover quickly so she goes to into the temporary comma..

I know they are Zhihe parents..
But I was curious abt the generation they belonged to and how they came to be the foster parents of DH since DH is clearly older than them, maybe his growing up (from toddler to adult) was slower compared to normal immortals (strictly appearance wise, coz he was way powerful than others) or was he at the age of teenager (like FJ) when he was adopted by them and why did they adopt DH in the first place? Too many unanswered questions!!

ELOD had so much potential to beat EL, just because of few silly mistake it lost the best opportunity.. just thinking abt it frustrates me...
Putting the negatives aside if I have to talk abt positive sides of the drama (just to cheer up my mood) the story of chen ye and aranya was well executed (minus the fillers of few side characters) . Aranyas Phoenix formation and death, Chen ye's heartbreak and ripping off the three seasons was beautifully directed and CGI used for those scene made it look so freaking good... If they hadn't skipped few dialogues and few moments in the final battle of the drama then DH and FJ interaction could have looked even more Epic with that quality of CGI..

Lot of DH and FJ scenes were downplayed for no reason, in TMOPB the director team did lot of improvs but never downplayed the interaction of main couples infact they added lot more fillers to make it wholesome, for ex: in the novel there is no detailed explanation of how Yehua and SuSu interacted on mortal realm, SuSu feeding raw meat, kissing her little snake (YH) , burning down her house while cooking etc etc were are clever additional scenes, if novel gave them one line drama added 10 lines to give depth.. whereas Pillowbook had everything yet they overlooked many important details.. I really want to know what kind of deal was made b/w AL and production team for the script..
They added filler JH scenes but downplayed existing FJ scenes as if to level those 2 characters, what was suppose to be "Jh obsession of DH stands nowhere near FJ's unconditional love" became "JH and FJ are both greatest love warriors".. it's really sick and twisted..

If Jay walk studio hadn't got the copyright for TMOPB and released the drama on 2017 then the casting of ELOD would have went according to AL selected company which was penguin(or could been some other one).. then it would have been too late for the fans to even write petition to recast Dilraba and VG when EL haven't been telecast yet..
For someone (AL) who claimed to have loved the novel sure did find ways to screw it up every way possible..

I always found this a bit odd... Coz the casting rumours for Pillow book started around 2014. Even an actor named jiro wang was rumored to play DH, later Kris Wu yi and fans started backlashing this unprofessionalism from then itself, so it was clear that those fans were novel readers since drama EL was not even released at that point.. but this actress AL cleverly made a post with "Skirt story" after the EL as if indirectly hinting Dilraba stole the role form her and after that post raba got lot of hate as well for a short period of time.. AL obsession towards pillow book and others interest to adapt TQ novel (TMOPB) screwed up the timeline for "Pillow book" and there was also problem in find available dates of the former actors who's characters were supposed to be a part of pillow book as well.. that crazy actress held the copyright for the pillow book for 5yrs which ended by costing a lot for the live adaptation.. its fortunate that ELOD Drama managed to follow the novel closely to an extent and was able to become a successful project of 2020..

In comparison, as soon as DH literally made eye contact with FJ, DH had actively initiated most of their interactions. He wanted to know FJ better and he had deliberately set up situations, so FJ had to interact and stay close to him. He would ask FJ questions because he was interested in what she was thinking and cared about. Whereas he never asked JH questions about herself.
And that is just wrong to think JH owns DH. If DH was truly her man and wanted to be with her, JH wouldn't have to resort to such disgusting actions.
I honestly worry for these fangirls who side with JH. Their logic is just as twisted as JH.
I just read those weibo posts, it's translated from Chinese so there is little lack of clarity, but It appears like AL has given her own version of JH in interviews and later made multiple post on them to support JH love for DH
Later she made posts on her depression /attempt to suicide.. she clearly whitewashed JH and later used her Personal life issues to justify her actions, and online hate to play sympathy card.. it worked wonders with neutral viewer, they are the one who are supporting JH..

She picked the role JH since she had the copyright to novel there was wide range of options (except for the role FJ) for her to play but she choose JH on her own..
If I remember correctly rumored casting was making rounds in 2014, her team couldn't come up with good choices of cast for main roles for years. then came EL , TMOPB production tried their best to get the copyright for Second installment but AL didn't consider auditioning for TMOPB or selling them Rights but after the release of the drama she couldn't handle the shock of Dilraba and VG becoming popular for the roles of FJ and DH,
it was then many company pressured her to give rights for Pillow book when she became stubborn to play the role of FJ.. it took a lot of convincing and deals made with her to acquire the rights , so I feel like she was the one who made calls for changes for JH coz she had those powers..

Those insert doesn't seem like something a scriptwriter would add for the increasing the time frame, it feels a bit of pressure was given to the scriptwriter from the actress AL side so she can appear on more scenes especially with Donghua
Like if her character (JH) can't share romantic scenes with DH, then JH can atleast have similar moment like FJ by using alternate reasons, like getting carried by DH, getting fed by him (cut scenes) , maybe she even wanted a dance scene infront him, who knows hehehe

Yeah, the welcome to DH and LS in the Saha fruit competition was very, very nothing extraordinary in the series. Maybe CGI for that scene to be as the book is difficult or too costly.
I agree that if it's the same production team and director, ELOD might have even been more smashing. Someone got stubborn though...
CGI was damn awesome in ELOD compared to EL, the only thing it lacked was the proper script editing and directorial guidance..
If we look at the final battle of both the series ML trapped in FNvalley was shot beautiful compared to Yehua vs demon king which was really bad..

DH walking to the arena was accurate, VG did it brilliantly.. but it felt like something was missing mainly Because of the crowd, it included most of the major characters.. BQ, Ali, Ye hua (and few more from heaven realm) with all the official of QQ were present for the ceremony.. so when DH enters the arena they were all stunned/flabbergasted, I personally liked yehuas reaction and Liansong commentary
such a shame that it never made it to the screen

By not adding JH and mortal lookalike in Mortal arc they could have saved 2 episode worth of time.. and the ending episode monologue of JH and reunion with YCW is 10+min long, liansong and CY scenes could have been cut Short etc etc...
The dance scene was the highlight of the novel and the best moment of DH and FJ coz it takes place in DHs real home, it would be a aesthetic treat visual wise (it could have beat the cave scene in ranking)
