someone posted how the scene was described in the novel

Thank you @phuong1317 for the spoiler.  I was really hoping that would be the case. That ending was so disturbing to me. I just can't get over won bin's age. She's still a child. I'm aware that they married young back then, but I just can't help being bothered by it all.... and their expectations of him producing an heir from a child. It would be easier to stomach if she were older.   I really hope the next episode makes up for this one.

As far as DI, I understand where she's coming from,(she's definitely a more progressive thinker for that time period), but I'm not sure what would be more painful, being in love with him and still having to wait on him after him being with his concubines, and/or possible queen, or being his concubine and having to share him...

A bit confused.  Is this a 17 episode drama ?  Or is it because people loved the good and the bad princes (actors) so much that they are doing a sequel only on them ?  What a strange way to end a drama.

Episode 17 is actually an episode 1-special episode preview. I kinda skimmed through it and it seems like a recap of the first half of the series.

And yes, that was a strange way to end the series. It seemed out of order.  I would have preferred if they would have extended the final episode or give us a real episode 17 so that we could see the battle for the throne.

The Royal Shaman had told Yul that HR and CG were destined from birth to be together and that He was destined for the throne, so I guess we'll have to use our imaginations that it did happen like that in the end. I liked Yul, and became invested in him in this story. So I do feel cheated out of actually seeing that happen for his story line. I wanted to SEE him win that battle with his greedy evil brother.

There were also other things we didn't get... I at least wanted to know a little about the backstory of the girl who also wanted revenge on the royal family. (I forgot her name). Who was she? Who was the family member that she wanted revenge for?

I also wanted to see those thugs get their comeuppance.  Seriously I'm trying to figure out why the one guy was on this one track revenge against her. He just needed to be shut down.

But overall, I did like this drama, and we did get our happy ending for our ML's and yes @realistic2280athat is all that matters!

Her father actually goes crazy because He looked directly to Mawang eyes on ep 1, right?!

I think you are right. The two that were in the room looked in his eyes, and then when MR got outside near the present King, everyone was told to close their eyes and not look at MR.

I'm going to have to watch that 1st episode again.... shoot! I think I will rewatch the whole series again after its done lol!

I wish I could get my mom to watch them too. I haven't given up. It would be so cool to watch it with my mom too.  But I have made her listen to K-dramas and she loves them.

Don't give up. I'm sure there is something out there that she likes. What type of tv shows or movies does she like to watch? Match the kdrama with her interests. That's how I roped my SIL into them. I knew she liked romance and adventure, so I got her to watch Memories of Alhambra with me. (that one goes on my "best" list as well).

But the K  dramas are catching up on the trend and have started seasons. I don't have the patience to watch and wait for seasons.

You and me both! Lol! "Oh Wae" is right!  I really hope they don't start conforming to Western TV styles.

What are her thoughts on the shorter web dramas? They're usually 10-30 minute long episodes and a much shorter story arc.

She has so much going on right now, she prefers to read webtoons if she has the time.   Sometimes I can get her to watch a kdrama with me if she recognizes it from a webtoon, or is similar to one that she's already read. (ie; A Korean Odyssey), and currently she just happen to be in the room while I was watching Mystic pop up Bar and became interested. Now I have to wait until we can have the same downtime together to watch the next episode!

Last year, both she and my husband joined me in watching The Uncanny Counter.  Again, I was watching it while hubby was cooking and she happened to be in the family room on her computer, and they both got interested in it.

  5. 4. Why would you recommend K-dramas to others who know nothing about them?

First, Kdrama's are only one season long, and most range from 16 - 24 episodes. No multiple-season shows, that wear out your interest in them.

    Second, If you like rom-coms.

There is something special about the culture of Kdramas that brings so much anticipation for skinship (whether its a touch, hug or kiss...or more

    3) The Culture.

    4) The beauty of Sageuks

    5) the writing, the acting, especially with the child actors. Good casting for the child versions of the older leads.

    5. What do K-dramas mean to you?

    A not-so-guilty obsession. Lol.

    Entertainment

Sometimes I feel like I'm reading a romance book.

    6. Which K-drama you cannot stop yourself from re-watching?

One Percent of Something - Steamy Romance, FL confident in herself and in her relationship with ML. Not much conflict. A good one to watch if you're in a romantic mood.

High-End Crush - Definition of short and sweet. (and funny) Each episode is less than 20 minutes long.  I loved Jung IL Woo's performance.  Great one to watch in between dramas, or if you just need a fun light hearted drama after watching a heavy one.

  6. 3. Which 3-5 K-dramas are the best dramas you've ever watched?

I think my lists of best and favorite may differ slightly.  What is best may not always be my favorite and what is my favorite may not always be the best (quality), but sometimes they can be the same.

With that said, here are what I think that are the best so far that I have watched: these first two are also favorites

    Pinocchio

    Healer

    Goblin

Because This Is My First Life (written so well, and I think this was the first one I actually laughed out loud on).

Lovers of the Red Sky (I am preemptively placing this on the list even though its still running. PD please don't mess the last four episodes up)

I feel like I'm missing a couple of other ones but you did say 3-5

The one that missed the mark and could have been epic was Scarlet Heart Ryeo. It had much potential.

  7. 2. Was there a specific K-drama that made you stay?

Continuing from my last post...While I was watching Pinocchio, I saw ads and read so much about Healer, so that was my next one. There was no turning back at that point.  I was deep in the rabbit hole.. And because I loved PMY in Healer, thatq led me to Sunkyunkwan Scandal and so on.

So I think I would have to say Pinocchio and Healer sealed the deal for me and started me on my spiral.

I remember telling my daughter that I liked that K-dramas were only 16-20 episodes long and that was IT. No multiple seasons to drag things out. They were well written and acted, and if I really liked them, I could just watch them again.

Funny thing was, that while I continued watching K-dramas, my daughter stopped because she said 1- hour episodes were too long for her. :joy: She got used to watching Animes that had 20-30 minute episodes.   Only this past year have I been able to drag her into watching a Kdrama with me every now and then.  Lol

  8. I may have to answer each question in a separate post as I know my answers will be long (sorry)

    1. How did you first start watching K-dramas?

In 2013, our family had previously enjoyed watching the movies 200lb Beauty and By the Book.

In beginning of 2014, my daughter had been watching Heirs (  I didn't know what the title was at the time) and I had just caught the last 5 minutes of the final episode and couldn't get over LMH outfit LOL!  She kept mentioning BOF to me but I stumbled upon Playful Kiss.

I loved everything about it!  I watched it twice back to back!  (The second time I watched it, I watched all the special episode shorts on youtube). And for some reason, that particular story line hooked me - especially after reading about the author of the original works. So I then watched the original anime - Itazura na kiss, read the manga, and then watched the Kdrama again. I think I was really enamored with KHJ back then ha ha!

My daughter then encouraged me to watch BOF. Call me shallow, but I couldn't get past LMH curly permed hair lol (sorry LMH fans). Something else about it didn't capture me, so I stopped watching  (I eventually watched the whole thing at a later time).

My daughter then suggested Heirs. I was really impressed with PSH's acting and became a fan of hers.  I saw that she was going to be in a new drama called Pinocchio.  And after watching the 1st episode, I made my daughter watch the series with me (she was more into anime and manga). We loved it. I was so impressed with the child actors!!  I would rewatch the episodes by myself during the week while waiting for the new ones to come out. Lol.  I then watched the whole thing all over on a different streaming site to catch the subtle differences in the translations. I think this was the beginning of going down the rabbit hole :joy:

Was it on the ring? I thought that SamShin did something to the painting that Cheon Gi painted and then she also gave Ha Ram a butterfly charm thingy that disappeared (going inside of Ha Ram it looked like)

You're right! And I do remember that scene with the painting and the butterfly charm thingy.

I guess when the ring lit up when MW/HR had attacked CG when she was sleeping and it lighting up and doing its thing again at the end of ep 11 just made me assume that SamShin had something to do with that too. :)

  10. Was anyone else chanting "kiss..kiss...KISss..KISS" moments before the kiss when HJ had her fingers on DS lips?

I can’t help but feel that ep.10 could be a pretty nice ending for the drama.

HyeJin stopped DuShik from saying anything when she confessed. Was she worried he might say “Dentist, I only see you as a friend and nothing more…”? And bam! Our Chief Hong didn’t disappoint the viewers.

6 more episodes, bet there’s a storm coming after ep.11 overflowing scenes of lovey dovey. Urgh!

    - HyeJin got hurt again

    - DuShik blamed himself & initiate a breakup

    - HyeJin returning to Seoul with SeongHyun

    - HyeJin recalls the moment where drunken DuShik teared on her shoulder asking her not to leave

    - HyeJin returned to GongJin to stay with DuShik

    HAPPILY EVER AFTER PLS! :evillaugh:

You've hit the nail on the head on how this will all play out. I was thinking the same thing. But I was sadly thinking that granny might pass away would be the reason why DS breaks up with her :bawling:

Did anybody else notice how Hye Jin keep touching Du Sik and initiating skinship with him when June came and Hye Jin was fangirling over him? :fullofhearts:

It’s so subtle but I love how Hye Jin has gotten so comfortable with Du Sik and did that!

Also agree with people and think the epilogue was the highlight  I think it’s like someone mentioned, that Du Sik didn’t want Hye Jin to go and leave him because he had a similar experience where someone left him and something bad happened to that person? Not sure but just a theory

Yes! I rewound that part at least 10 times! I loved watching his reaction to her everytime she touched him or nudged him!

I totally agree about a his expressions in this episode! I was loving everyone of them! :heart4:

    What a great episode!

I think I was grinning ear to ear if I wasn't laughing for the majority of it.

I'm loving the bromance. I cracked up laughing when the writer told the assistant pd to watch them closely so he doesn't become like them :joy:

You could really feel the chemistry between DS, HJ & SH.

Loved seeing this episode with granny at the forefront, and how they brought so much joy to her. You know she's missing her kids, but they don't seem to have time for her . So it was good to see her happy. She's probably going to be instrumental in DS & HJ's relationship.

I rewound different parts so many times.

Sorry if this is not flowing well. Just throwing my thoughts on here b4 going to sleep.  Looking forward to the next episode!

@Mymindisblankyeah I hope we get a different spin on the second lead this time. Whether he becomes King or not, I do hope he doesn’t die. I like his character. I think he’s meant to help Ha Ram and Cheon Gi. And as far as love triangles go, I don’t find it annoying here. I hope I don’t have to go back on my words haha

Now I really like YM too, but what has concerned me, is that regardless of whether he becomes King or not, he can make Cheon Gi his Royal Consort at any time if he chooses to.  Even though he gave into HR about the painting, if he continues to fall deeper for CG, he may not give in again. I hope is heart doesn't get too hardened with all the upcoming challenges (and we know there will be some), in that he will see that HR and CG are really meant to be for each other.

  13. Hi everyone!

I just finished binging the first 6 episodes and I absolutely love this so far! I started reading a little bit of the webtoon before this, and stopped when I realized that there were 100+ chapters and it was still ongoing! (Yikes! don't have that much patience!).  I figured they would have to change it up some to fit into 16 episodes, and I like what they are doing with it.

Let me just say that Ju-Kyung is the cutest FL ever! From the younger version on up, they are so cute!.  Mun Ka Young is doing a great job playing this character and making us love her from the start. I adore Im Ju-Kyung's family, especially her sister who is so straight forward. She's hilarious. I'm glad that they have Lee Soo Ho (with his handsome self), starting to like her without makeup at the comic book shop, before the realization that she was the same person as the one at school. When he told her she was pretty without makeup, my heart just melted.

Han Seo Joon's voice is sexy as all get out, but I feel she treats him more like a sibling than an a possible love interest. (and I'm okay with that).   I love her friends, and I hope they stay true to her to the very end. (even if it strays from the webtoon).  Everyone seems to have an interesting back story.  I can't wait to watch them go through their individual journeys of healing with Ju Kyung in their lives.

The way these girls are bullied because of their looks is sickening sad. And some of the bullies aren't all that pretty themselves.

My mom always taught me that when you call someone beautiful, it's always because their inner beauty shines through.  And I guess that's what this drama (webtoon) is going to be emphasizing hence it's title - "True Beauty"

p.s. I may have to rewatch all the episodes until the new one comes out.

  14. Finally Finished it!  I have to say overall, it was a very good drama and worth watching again, even though it really long.  (this is the longest drama I have ever watched)  I think I binged the last 5 or 6 episodes until the wee hours of the morning (daylight).

On 5/7/2020 at 12:45 PM, bluesytb said:

Uh, I wouldn't say any really.  there's a lot of information you'd be missing tbh.  The best thing about this drama is how tight the plot is, how well structured & coherent it is.  (along with being well written)

I appreciated all of your feedback. You were right, every time I thought I could skip over something, I ended up rewinding it and watching it. The only part I did skip over was Muci and Liu Yung's marriage. It just seemed too heart wrenching, and if I was going to shed tears, I wanted it to be for our main couple. Oh yah, I also skipped over some of that one demon king's shenanigan's.

Here are a few thoughts on that last arc:  But first, did anyone else feel like Xu Feng just kept getting more and more handsome as the show went on? I don't know if it was the hairdo or what. Like in the beginning, tbh, I didn't feel as attracted to him, (sorry DL fans). But when he first flashed that pretty smile when JinMi started interpreting for him, I started taking notice. (I even rewound to see it again).  By the time he got to be Demon Lord, I was like " He is wearing that black well, with his side swoop and pony tail " (It also looked like his face slimmed down a little), Anyways, HE LOOKED GOOOD! LOL.  Also, as someone being a fan of facial hair, when we got to see Xu Feng's growing in, I was like "HELLO There!"    I ended up pausing during a couple of those moments just to take it all in!  LOLAM!

I did enjoy seeing JinMi mature during the show. The mortal trial and her falling in love was definitely, a big part of that. Even when the love pill got repaired, she still wasn't the same. She knew something wasn't quite right with her, but she couldn't figure it out. And it was during this time that you could see how much she was wronged by her mother (even if her mother thought she was doing the right thing). I loved how she said to her mother (at her mom's shrine) that she thinks she should have the right to choose whether she should fall in love or not (or something similar to that) I was like "You go Jin Mi!"

From some of the comments I read, some people were giving JinMi a hard time because she didn't believe Xu Feng when he told her that he did not kill her parents. One thing people needed to remember was that #1, she was grieving, and people can't think straight when they are grieving, especially when all the evidence was pointing to Xu Feng. She couldn't think like him and realize the clues were too easy, so there could have been a frame-up, (like he did for Runyu),  but #2 and this is big, If that love pill would not have been repaired, her love for him (and knowing how much he love's her), would have kept her from believing that he killed them, even if the evidence said so.

Going to the part where JinMi kept going to him in the Demon Realm:  I'm going to make a blanket statement here: Guys can be so cruel when they are trying to push someone they still care about away from them. The ultimate was when he used her gift to him to please Sui hui. That was just too much, and too hurtful.

It was interesting (and good writing) to see the tables turn between them both. She sacrificed so much to save him, and he going to the end of the earth to try and find her primordial spirit. They each had a chance to reflect on each other and their actions.

I'm just going to say one thing about Runyu, and this is the only thing I would have wished to see play out:  In the end, Runyu was talking about how alone he was. He took Kuanglu's loyalty for granted. If she ever left, then he would truly be alone. And maybe he would have appreciated what he had. Okay,  one more thing regarding the comparing of how they love. I keep going back and forth between if Runyu truly loved JinMi, or was just obsessed with her. Or would it be an unhealthy obsessive love? Because on one hand, he did physically sacrifice a lot of himself for her, (some of it forbidden), on the other hand, he used her like a pawn. ugh!

Then looking at Kuanglu's love for him. She loved him, and was so loyal that she wanted him to be happy, even if it wasn't her that he chose. I'm having a hard time with that one too.

The part where Xu Feng and JinMi were reunited for a brief moment and he was crying like a baby...Oh, my heart!:bawling:

    I just adore Uncle!

Again, as I mentioned in the previous post, my favorite part was the Mortal trial arc. Beautifully done. And I usually don't like Romeo and Juliet type endings, but in this one, the ending was so beautiful, but then again, it wasn't the end. I like how he offered his chest for her to lean on as they were outside of their mortal bodies. That whole arc is worth watching again just by itself!

Though it was long, I have to say, it was a good drama, and I'm glad I stuck with it.  I understand why people keep re-watching it, and I will too at some point.

Now, going to go back and watch "Under the Power" again.

  15. Hello all!

I just started watching this not too long ago and I am up to ep. 36. I'm at a pause right now because I feel its only going downhill with lots of sorrow afterwards.

Here  are some of my thoughts so far..

    - I'm not sure if it was mentioned before, but I think JinMi was experiencing some hairline cracks in the pill early on. When she fed baby phoenix mouth to mouth - she felt something but she didn't know what it was. When he hurt or was sad, she felt it as well....

    - JinMi was always more touchy-feely with baby phoenix than any other person in any of the realms. She was always thinking of him, even if it was just so he could give her some power.. But she even after she formed a friendship with the night dragon, she never asked him for power.

    - Even though the mortal trial wasn't in the book, that is my favorite arc so far, as well as the mutual cultivation scene. (loved it! - lots of beautiful symbolisms! )

But now, after episode 35 (Viki), I'm really irritated with night dragon for what he did to the pill inside JinMi.(yes, I feel bad for everything that has happened in his life, but everything he is doing to JinMi (the lies, the lies so they could get married, etc)  is just wrong. And I know this is just the beginning. ugh!

I've  been reading the comments on here, and I am not at all interested in another CITT situation. Unfortunately, from what I read, this is what happens. smh

    So, my question is:

Which episodes can I/should I skip without feeling like I missed something? ...(to get me back to our OTP)

    Thanks in advance!

Another instance that made me thought of the connection or I may be just thinking too much of the scene.  When SDM was in the elevator after she was told off by Ryan for coming into his house, she met Shi An and he told her that maybe he was lying to her and that he will regret it later.  I thought it had a double meaning.  Shi An had asked Ryan about Lee Seol if he knew the artist but he told him no.  Somehow I did connect the thought.

I caught on to that as well. I thin SA knows more about the Ryan-Lee Seol connection than he's letting on.

i find it rather peculiar for Shi An to be barging into Ryan's privacy, calling him hyung.  Sure he has no friends (maybe) cuz he seems to be only restricted to singing, performance, keeping fit and home.  He just got cozy with hyung to easily i think, unless he knew all along they were brothers.  I hope they are brothers though, both could need some real family lovin' and well Ryan needs some SDM loving and from her family as well.

I don't feel it's peculiar that SA is calling Ryan "Hyung", even if there were no familial connection. In a way, he could have felt that Ryan was his protector when he saw him in a vulnerable drunken state and kept it a secret. If Ryan is someone that Shin An wants to look up to, wants to develop a friendship with, I don't think its out of the ordinary for him to want to call him "hyun". I've seen that in kdramas before...

Lol! I was hoping the blindfold kiss would have been RG's imagination:wub: Lol.  I'm all for the R19 scenes ha ha!  TVN needs to "Live up to its name!" lol! That's what cable network is for...

    Other thoughts:

Like others have stated, those ab shots are not going to push me into SLS..sorree!

It's Ryan the Lion all the way!!!:D

On a down note....It keeps getting brought up that this PD allowed for a good kissing scene in LUTYN, so they are expecting more in this one. I hope I'm wrong, but I don't want to expect too much from this Pd as  LUTYN only had ONE good kiss scene. I was expecting more in that show but didn't get it.  (kind of a let down).

I keep thinking, if the imagination kiss is the only one we're going to get in this whole drama? I'm trying not to get my hopes up too high for other really good kisses. (and other things ;))

I really really hope I'm wrong though.

TVN ...LIVE UP TO YOUR NAME!!!!

p.s. This drama drew me back in after a kdrama pause. Binged ep 1-6 Sunday, rewatched 4-6 on Tuesday.  After lurking a bit, had to pop back in on the conversations for this one. I'm so hooked, I don't know what to do!

OMG~!!!!!! This will happen in the next episode right??

Please let the misunderstanding be cleared up...

People think dramas with low conflict are boring, but honestly, I watch dramas to forget reality, and I need them to be happy.  I want six episodes of fluff please! It has been so sweet since the beginning, so it better pull out all tricks when they have it after the feelings are confirmed.

I need their hi jinks at another level after the grand reveal where she knows that he knows that she knows that he knows she is SNG.

IKR to escape from reality we really need this kind of drama to make us happy... and i think the misunderstanding scene will only happen in 1 episode....

Totally agree! This is why I come to the Kdrama world. I'm perfectly content with a low conflict drama. ( I think we are in the minority though). People get bored and lose interest if there's too much fluff.
