I was just thinking, may be YSJ getting shot serves as a dual purpose for the writers. Firstly, since they're not stationed in Uruk anymore - it's not like a super busy army officer and his super busy doctor girlfriend would be able to see each other as frequently in the earlier episodes. So, it makes sense that him being shot would be a plot device for the two to be able to spend more one on one time. That takes care of two issue - believability that the two get to spend so much time in Seoul and the deepening of emotions *if they weren't deep enough already*
Also, I obviously don't think SJ is going to die and as much as I like the idea of MY being so tough that the soldiers keep calling her a real soldier. I don't see her joining the army, I don't see the need to....I mean she can be jus as tough a doctor working in just about any hospital because like she said, the amount of casualties seen by a doctor in a big general hospital is probably way more than say an army doctor unless the army doctor is serving in a war situation. Plus, how does MY ensure that every time she's stationed along with SJ's troop? It's not like the two can dictate terms to higher army officials to station them to places together...lol.
I think that scene of MY with the kids will probably be the next volunteer mission they take, like a follow up to see how things are in Uruk. Remember those pictures of SHK, Onew and maknae nurse at the airport wearing winter clothes. That's probably them leaving for Uruk -- I mean we just have to have another scene with Onew and his favourite kid from that blackey village.
Which is probably how the series will end, with SJ visiting her in Uruk and them going back to the beach as a couple. Because technically though SJ came back to Uruk with that white pebble, they never landed up at the beach. And, the belief was that the white pebble brings a people back to the beach.
@joongkyo i like what you said about YSJ being shot that serves as a dual purpose in a potential plot change. I do always see YSJ as a soldier although a part of me is hoping that him getting shot would also have him thinking of a less dangerous occupation. KMY may have already accepted that part of his life, but if he keeps on getting badly hurt like this, would she be able to stay strong?
I was kinda hoping that YSJ would consider being transferred to a non-special forces unit or be a training instructor similar to what SDY did. I think it may be too extreme for him to give up army life. It's soooo hard to guess what will happen next or even for me to identify what I would want to happen next. I'm a bit torn with playing the safe card where YSJ changes career, but at the same time I don't want him to do that. I also don't see KMY joining the army - I agree with you on that!
I just hope we get to see them happy and together and enjoying the tranquility of the Uruk beach that they visited before. Simply put I jsut want a happy ending for our sweet "fist-bump" couple.

Hello everyone!
Been trying hard to keep myself away from Soompi since I've been swamped with work these past few weeks. Although I've been checking this thread every once in a while for much needed DoTS love! However, the events of episode 13 made me de-lurk. I've been worried and heartbroken that DoTS will end with YSJ dead (NOOOOO!!!!!). What comforted me was the hope that we still have 3 episodes to go and it would have been silly to have them kill off the main lead prior the finale week (please! please! don't kill him!). Plus, I held on to what Jin Goo stated in a previous interview that DoTS will have a satisfactory ending or fans will be satisfied with its ending. And what would make us feel satisfied would be to see a happy ending between YSJ and KMY, as well as SDY and YMJ.
My spirits were recently lifted when I saw a photo on Instagram of YSJ wearing hospital clothes. And he was standing up! Not sure if it was shared here already since I have yet to backtrack on the pages that I missed. Although it may have been a BTS pic and he may be in a coma - but don't want to think about it yet. Anyway, it made me happy! It would be interesting to see just how strong KMY would be in order to save YSJ's life. I can only imagine the kind of anguish and desperation a doctor would have to go through when a critical patient is someone that they love.
We still have a few hours of waiting before episode 14 is aired. I'll be getting my tissues ready since I'm anticipating a few emotional scenes tonight!

So amazing really
I loved this moment!!! The depth of emotion in YSJ's eyes while reporting the situation. I can only imagine the thoughts running through his head such as.. "what am i doing here reporting to this man when I should be out there saving the woman i love?!" Or probably he was thinking.. "I'm here asking for help. I'm going crazy since my girlfriend has been taken by a dangerous person and I can't do anything to stop it!"
YSJ was really frustrated here. I loved how SJK was able to portray the anger, frustration and fear by his eyes alone.

Would it be too much to hope that we'll somehow see the end of Argus in episode 12? Although it may be somewhat wishful thinking on my part. I mean he is the big baddie in DoTS so having him gone in episode 12 may be too early for the series. We still have 4 episodes to go.. so maybe the threat of Argus would likely be addressed in episode 13 or episode 14.
I was also super irritated when Argus stated that he was clear of the M3 virus and apparently can't get sick. What the... !!! I hope he gets what he deserves in upcoming episodes. I hope the US army will get to him or a sniper kills him off. Never felt so angry with a villain in a Kdrama in such a long time.
I'm also hoping that the "unexpected thing" that KMY and YSJ will encounter in ep12, according to the episode synopsis indicated in an earlier post, would not be super bad. Oh please!!! Please let YSJ be successful in rescuing KMY!
I also wonder how this will affect YSJ. He has always followed orders and military rule. However, ep11 showed his frustration with the way the higher ups wanted to handle the situation. It also somehow goes against his belief of protecting the people. Yes, he is biased since the person he needed to protect at the moment was the woman that he loves. Still, its disconcerting to see how his bosses are willing to turn a blind eye, so to speak, just for political reasons. Argh!!
Will this somehow be the final straw that would likely push YSJ to give up being a soldier and start a different career?
As for KMY, I hope her love for YSJ would be strong enough to withstand the horror of her abduction and the fear that Argus instilled in her of potentially losing YSJ in one of his dangerous missions some day. I hope she remembers that the moments spent with him would be more precious than deciding to be apart from him. She tried that already by denying her feelings and it didn't work. I hope she remembers that! KMY please stay strong until YSJ comes to rescue you!!!

Hi DoTS fanatics like me!!! I wanted to hold out commenting until I watched the engsubbed version.. I watched tonight's raw episode and didn't understand a stitch of Korean. Despite that I still got some of what happened... anyway, I feel really frustrated and angry now.
I'm angry at Argus!!! What is wrong with this fallen soldier?!?!?! I'm also angry at Fatima's boyfriend!!! Why did he do that?!?! I mean both of these characters... they are so greedy and selfish and bad!!!!
Still.. episode 11 also had some sweet and cute moments. I'm happy also that they found a cure for the virus.
What I'm looking forward to is YSJ going rogue to save KMY. Kudos to the General for giving him time to do what he needed to do. I admire him for that. I just hope that he'll continue to back YSJ up in case HQ gets wind of the Captain's personal mission.
I truly hope that YSJ will be able to rescue KMY in episode 12. I think that the chopper that YSJ requested is for Argus to use as his escape vehicle. I pray that nothing bad will happen to KMY or YSJ like one or both getting shot or injured. I hope the rest of the alpha team will be able to lend their assistance somehow.
Can't wait to see YSJ in action in ep12!

I'm sooo happy with the news that DoTS will air three special episodes after the series finale week. KBS will air it on April 20 until April 22, where the first two episodes will be 70 mins long and is said to contain "highlight reels." Meanwhile, the third special episode will feature an epilogue and behind the scenes footage! Woohoot!!!!
My heart skipped several beats when I read it! I'm super thrilled and excited to see more of DoTS and maybe NG scenes.
Full soompi news report in this link: http://www.soompi.com/2016/03/29/descendants-of-the-sun-adds-one-more-week-after-finale-with-special-episodes/
By the way, any news on a potential director's cut DVD for DoTS? If there's one, I'll surely buy it! For some weird reason, I find the KBS World's eng sub version interesting and more touching than other eng sub versions. Or maybe because I know what happened already and can relate more to KBS World's eng sub version. Don't know - hehe!
But just discovered it over the weekend, when KBS World aired an episode 3 to episode 8 marathon of DoTS.

1 minute ago, cheekychipmunk_stv said:Is it just me or does SJK really has a different longing look than his other dramas looking at SHK?
I can't exactly explain it. The look he gave to a smiling SHK/MY on the back of truck is not intense longing but a man's desire. Those in a relationship would understand what I mean.
In his last drama Nice guy ... hé gave intense look like usual but now he emote a different vibes in his expression when he looks at MY. It's the same look type of look we get in recent episodes. It's not piercing longing or I want to eat/lick you like a candy look we see at the begining of the show. It is as if his depth of love for MY has moved to a different level. I just don't know how to put into words. Maybe someone can explain it better than me.
hi @cheekychipmunk_stv! I've been wondering about that too! I'm not sure if its the actress per se or the role. I think because there's an added layer of maturity to him now after his military service. There really is something different to him in DoTS. We can probably attribute it to a good script and the director's guidance.
It's like he's putting his all into a single look... all his heart's desires and all his love. Actually, most of his scenes with SHK are breathtaking to watch. Both are amazing at their craft!
Or it could also be because of their sizzling chemisty! I don't know... I also can't pin it down.

@Yongzura I was also thinking the same - why don't they pull the phone out?! SJ with his lightning reflexes especially! There is no need to embarrass the lady like that save for some comic relief.
@Ohsh maybe because he was so surprised with the confession and curious with what she had to say that he let it play out. But yeah, Doctor Daniel should have reacted and pulled it out. Still, i loved that scene because it gave YSJ confirmation that she has feelings for him and that she, at the time of the accident, regretted her decision not to confess to him.

My prayers have been answered if it's true that Song Joong Ki will be singing an OST!! A collab is better than nothing although I pity my Joong Ki to be singing alongside Junsu since he has never been confident in his voice. But don't worry oppa, fangirls such as myself will just be glad to hear your voice!
@chicann7 The kiss happened before the accident. The accident was the day after when Kang Mo Yeon asked Yoo Si Jin to drive her to find her patient who had returned back to his home. Hope that helps jog your memory.
ooohhh! I see.. yes... I remember now... hehe! thanks @ilovesjk.
Oh... I also loved the new OST that Junsu sang. Looking forward to its release already! JYJ, the group that Junsu belongs to, is actually one of my favorite Kgroups! Also, if SJK sings an OST - wow! that'll be daebak!

Oh my! The thread is moving so fast! I can't keep up!H Hehe!
Just got off work and the first thing I did was open Soompi forums to spazz about DoTS!
Anyway, I plan to "review" episode 8 again and other episodes tonight. I remember that YSJ said KMY rejected him three times.. hmm... if my memory serves me right, the first time was in Seoul and the second was before he left Uruk when he asked her if he should apologize for the kiss or confess. When was the third time? Was it when KMY was stitching him up and he confessed how much he missed her and that she should think about it. Since she didn't answer back, did that count as another rejection? So, was that the third time?
Also, KMY's broadcast confession - hehe! Boy! Was that scene hilarious and sweet! And YSJ smile just before the scene ended - oh my! You can actually see how his body relaxed after hearing what KMY said in the recording. The smile even reached his eyes!
But... that's one of the parts that I need to review. My mind's a bit hazy already with the sequence of events, especially after episode 6 which was one of my favorites so far! Anyway... I've been trying to remember if the kiss happened before or after the car accident? Hmm... I think it should be episode 4 or 5 right.. I mean.. the kiss happened at the end of either of the two episode. Gotta go check it out...
Don't want to think that it may be an editing or script flaw. But regardless, I still love DoTS!
Happy weekend everyone!

Hi chingus!
I've been silently lurking the past few days and was initially thinking to post something after this week's episodes have aired. However, I can't seem to help myself. I needed to share my thoughts for episode 7. Just a quick warning that this will be a long post and if I've said something that was already tackled in previous posts - I apologize in advance.
So here goes...
I guess I'm one of the hundreds of fans who watched the raw episode of DoTS even if I can't understand a stitch of Korean. Well, I know several words but not enough to make out what they are really saying. That said, when I watched the raw version of ep7 (btw, just watched the eng sub version), I steeled myself for a heavy hour since I know the episode will continue to deal with the aftermath of the earthquake. It was heartbreaking to see the destruction and death that came with the natural disaster. It was also inspiring to witness the bravery and dedication of the soldiers, doctors and even civilians.
Even though it was a serious episode, I found comfort that our dear Doctor Kang is discovering more of herself and what she can do. I think this was another episode that shined a light on KMY. Yes, she was forced to make a decision that was against the oath that she took to save lives. She was torn about it and wanted to remove the responsibility and guilt of marking a person for death. It was also heart wrenching that the said person was the sweet and well-meaning supervisor of the site (did I get his position right?).
I loved how Captain Yoo was there to remind her that sometimes you have to make do with what you have and deal with things as you see fit. She wanted to save both of the workers but it was impossible... not at those conditions. A part of me also loved how non-touchy YSJ was in the episode. Well, admittedly the romantic in me wanted him to touch her shoulder to give her comfort or steady her as he pushed for her decision. He was maintaining a soldier's stance with her during the most critical of moments and it was something that I think KMY needed to keep focused on the things that needed to be addressed.
What are the other scenes that touched me in episode 7? It was the part where Ye Hwa found the broken wall clock and Daniel thumped on it a few times to make it work. The symbolism behind that act was really hopeful. It was like time had stood still while all of them were busy trying to save lives. For me, it seemed like the scene/act was telling me, "OK. There are still a lot of hurt people, many died and we have a lot more challenges ahead of us. But its time for life to continue. We must push on and move ahead and away from this destruction. We must live."
It was also touching that the townspeople, well the female bartender, came to give her support by dropping off food for the troops. I'm glad the writer put that it. I'm also glad that SDY and YMJ are now together - am I right about that? Their embrace made me think SDY has abandoned his initial approach of not having a relationship with the general's daughter. If that's the case, I'm glad that at least one couple enjoyed a sweet moment together.
What irritated me was the general's meeting with YSJ's father. I know, I know... he meant well. He wanted to reassure YSJ's dad that his son was doing well. I'm glad that he didn't say outright that he was looking forward to having YSJ as his son-in-law. Argh!
Finally, I love that final scene between KMY and YSJ. The part when she answered a question that he was asking in his mind. It showed how attuned they are to each other. I'm hopeful also with YSJ confession on how much he missed her and how he tried everything to get her out of his head but he can't - because she's already inside his heart (NOTE: that last line was from me - hehehe! me and my romantic musings!) I'm just wondering how KMY would react. Would she consider it as another chance? Would she act positively on it?
Although I felt sad while he was saying how much he missed her. Why? Because he had such a serious yet sad look on his face. It was like he was admitting to having a problem that he tried to deal with on his own. But his next words gave me some hope. Honestly, my heart fluttered when YSJ mentioned he was serious after telling her how much he missed her and that she should think about it. It was like him saying, "I tried to handle my feelings for you on my own but I can't. I've said my piece, now the ball's in your court. What will you do?"
The scene and his lines made me think - Does it mean he's willing to wait for her to change her mind? Oh I so... I truly, truly hope so!
Anyway, I'm again bracing myself for a heavy episode tonight. I hope nothing bad happens to our dear Captain!
Sorry for the long post!

Hi Everyone!
I think I've officially gone crazy over DoTS' episode 6. It's one of my favorites so far! I spent the better part of the afternoon just replaying the final 15-20 minutes of the episode. The part where the doctors went to the collapsed power plant up until the ending. Majority of my favorite episode 6 scenes were in it. But what I really can't get over is the scene where YSJ arrived with his team and he locked eyes with KMY.
I loved how SHK acted out that part. From the moment that she stood up and looked over the group of soldiers walking into the site, to how her mouth slightly parted when she realized who it was standing a few feet in front of her. The expression in her eyes and the slight movements of her head as she tried to maintain eye contact with the YSJ - amazing acting!
Sigh! Can't wait for Wednesday!

Thanks @Jalhanda! Hope to be an active member in this thread also. Its just that I've been very busy with work lately, but hope to squeeze some time for some soompi DoTS action - hehe! Plus, I felt like I needed to vent out my feelings after watching episode 6. I can't wait for next week's episodes, especially after the teaser that we got after episode 6 which hinted of YSJ and SDY in trouble.
@Ahpheng Love the c-strips!!!! This was actually one of my favorite scenes in episode 6! Thanks for putting a funny spin to it.

Hi everyone! I'm new to this thread but have been watching Descendants of the Sun religiously since it started. I even watched the raws late at night (in my part of the world) and then sometime in the next morning or early afternoon when English subs are out.
Can I just say... I love, love, love, love it! This is one of the rare K-dramas that got me hooked way before it even started. And I fell deeper every time I watched an episode.
Anyway, I liked episode 5 but loved episode 6. We had some sweet moments in episode 5, but episode 6 just plain broke my heart. One of the reasons included what KMY said to YSJ and how she turned him away. Plus their "I don't want to break the look" reunion that almost had me screaming at my ipad last night to just go to him, just GO!!!! I was also deeply touched at the dedication of the doctors who tried their best to save other people. The hopeless pumping-of-the-heart scene and that hard slap - ouch! It was heartbreaking to see a young doctor lose a life that way.
I'm not a doctor but some of my family members are, plus I used to harbor dreams of putting on that white coat and holding the scalpel. I agree with @eat_kimbap's post on how some thought that doctors live glamorous lives. They don't. The profession entails a lot of hardships and sacrifices. A doctor once told me that she sometimes regretted being one because she wasn't always there to take care of her family or her mother. She confessed that she was taken by surprise one day when she saw how the children have all grown up and how her mother aged without her noticing it.
But I regress, going back to DoTS... I admit I felt frustrated with how KMY handled YSJ's question/confession. The feeling is mutual, I know it.. I can see it! And I know that she has reservations about YSJ's profession. But, does it mean that the love she felt for him at that time was not enough to quiet her worries about the dangerous part of YSJ's life? I mean.. she did say the morning after when she found out that YSJ left the camp that he didn't even give her a second chance or an opportunity to change her mind - well at least that's how I interpreted it.
It also didn't help to lighten the frustration I felt when she almost sent a message to her friend about how much she cares for YSJ and that she might have thrown away her chance in having a relationship with him. But,as the episode progressed, I came to fully understand and appreciate how much she loves her profession. And the importance she placed on the Hippocratic Oath that she took as a doctor, which basically is a mantra for physicians to save lives and uphold ethical standards in doing so.
I'm now not sure how I would want KMY or YSJ to handle the situation. I mean neither of them can give up their respective professions for the other. Although there was a poignant moment in ep6 where YSJ was looking at his dogtags after KMY rejected him. I wonder what was going through his mind at that time... was he pondering his career choice? Was he regretting his decision to become a soldier? Also, how will KMY react now that YSJ is near her again? I just hope she drops the nonchalant attitude and just tell him she made a mistake and to give her more time. But I guess she's still feeling conflicted. Plus thinking about it, it would be unfair if KMY asks him to wait for her when she's also not sure when or if she will be able to give him a positive response.
Yet there were moments in ep6 when I wanted her to just reach out and maybe touch YSJ's face or hand or shoulder, especially while he was tying up her shoelaces. She was looking at him so tenderly and lovingly (yes! I believe that) and I felt as if she wanted to say something to him but held back. I was why?!?! Oh why?!?! (almost pulling my hair out!) Sigh!
But despite my many frustrations... I loved the moment when they first locked eyes when YSJ and his team arrived on-site. There's something about the way that SJK stares or looks at you that just pulls you in... That moment.. as they were angling their heads trying not to break eye contact while the soldiers lined in formation in front of their captain... oh my, the feels!!!! The feels!!!
Even if they did not speak a word to each other, their eyes, their hearts understood what each one was afraid or hesitant to say: "I miss you... I'm glad to see you're not hurt... I came because I wanted to be near you and to see you're okay... I was worried about you... I'm happy to see you... Can we talk?... I'm sorry... I love you." Double sigh!!!
Anyhoo... sorry for my long post. Sorry as well if some of what I said was mentioned already.
Meanwhile, it's already late Friday afternoon where I am and miraculously, I'm finished with work already. Hehe! So off I go to re-watch episodes 1 to 6 of DoTS. Need something to tide me over until Wednesday arrives.
Happy weekend everyone!
Ohh... congrats to the DoTS team also for breaking the 30% viewership rating! Yay!!!

Its been a year since Healer ended and its still one of my favorite Kdramas to revisit. I have the director's cut and have been rewatching favorite episodes (ahem.. episode 15). This drama never fails to make smile and swoon over the sweet romantic moments. Even the BTS scenes, despite me not understanding Korean, I still enjoyed the outtakes. I hope they JCW and PMY will get together in another drama project soon.

what is really funny is that when I was watching his interview (of course I didn't understand anything... my understanding of Chinese is at the level of 0 and Korean maybe 1% ) the part I liked the most was exactly this one :
This was the moment I found him to be the cutest. And, OMG, I'm so happy it was because of a question related to Young Shin Ah I feel so happy today! ChangMin is making my heart beat like crazy
I also loved this part the most. He looked so adorable here and the way he smiled and laughed is just soooo cute! Kinda makes me think that there's something behind that laugh... hmmm...

Months after Healer ended and this thread is still rockin! Happy 1300 pages Healerites!

@akinahan89 congrats on being moderator!!! can't believe that it's been more than a month since Healer ended... i definitely haven't moved on yet and still keep on replaying sweet scenes or my favorite moments and episodes. so happy that ajhumma has created an IG account - love her posts and pics!

I'm obsessing over this actor and been rewatching his previous dramas. Loved him "Five Enough" and "Noble, My Love" plus I'm enjoying one of his currently airing series "My Secret Romance."
Would anyone know if he'll be part of the first batch of stars to join the upcoming new season of "Law of the Jungle"? I read somewhere that it was unclear if SH (and another actor, I think) will fly to the show's next location along with the other new cast members or if they'll rejoin at a later time.
