Korean drama <Big Mouth> reached a new all-time high in viewership of 10.8% after the broadcast of episode 6 last week, breaking its own record.

Director Oh Chung Hwan recently accepted Taiwanese media interview and when the topic was about inviting Lee Jong Suk as the main lead after working together in <While You Were Sleeping>, he said, “The experience last time was really good, I have always been seeking for opportunities to work together with him again. Park Chang Ho this character is one that is not afraid to move forward and possesses strong personal traits. I thought that Lee Jong Suk is very suitable for this role, and he is also an actor I trusted a lot, so as I am challenging all new field/genre, I believe that having such a good friend, partner beside me will be a great support and aid.”

Lee Jong Suk plays a gentle and frail-looking ordinary lawyer, however his temperament changed drastically upon entering the prison, his acting that transits between good and evil in an attempt to catch the real culprit ‘Big Mouse’ who framed him also resulted in heated discussion.

Director Oh Chung Hwan expressed, “Facing such situations, Park Chang Ho at times look like he is an easy target to be bullied, at times he portrays a wicked side and sometimes even close to an insane person. We have to change his dressing, hairstyle, makeup etc. according to these transformations but the primary way is still through Lee Jong Suk’s detailed acting to portray the different sides of the character.”
Both of them also had a lot of discussion on how the emotion transition of Park Chang Ho, especially how he often faced life and death situations in the drama. “Lee Jong Suk’s emotions and acting skills while portraying these situations are truly amazing.”
Mentioning the scene where Park Chang Ho decides to become ‘Big Mouse’ in order to protect his family and how he yelled at the prison warden in a terrifying manner, he said, “Before shooting that scene, I told Lee Jong Suk that this will be a very classic scene of Park Chang Ho in the drama. This scene also allows me to know Lee Jong Suk even more, I heard from him later on that this scene is also the key to his decision to take up <Big Mouth>.”

On working together for the second time, Director Oh Chung Hwan complimented profusely, “Lee Jong Suk is good at playing interesting and light-hearted characters. He also leaves a deep impression when he plays serious, melancholic emotions. He is a detailed and clever actor, he is very good at interpreting the entire drama and his role, working with him often bring new surprises, this is also why I can fully put my faith in him. There is no need for communication as a director and actor, rather, we had a lot of discussions like colleagues. Just like when he was filming <While You Were Sleeping>, he has always been an actor who do his very best and who continuously seek for improvement, he is even more a reliable colleague. His detailed interpretation and immersion are very outstanding and unique. Later on, I learnt that his outstanding acting skills did not come from just improvising on the spot, rather it is through his many years of hard work and practice that allows him to possess such traits. He is the type of actor that will put in a lot of heart and effort in his work.”
He also revealed, “Lee Jong Suk is actually quite an introvert in private. During the filming process, there are scenes that requires him to passionately express his blazing feeling for YoonA, and he actually feel very shy over that.”

As for female lead YoonA, Director Oh Chung Hwan shyly revealed that he has always been a fan of YoonA, “I have always been paying attention to her dramas, movies and even her group SNSD. Hence, when I was reading the script, it suddenly dawned on me that YoonA is very suitable for the role ‘Go Miho’, even Lee Jong Suk also strongly recommended her. This role is very difficult to portray, she is someone who is very direct with her words and who doesn’t do things sloppily. At the same time, she does not make people around her uncomfortable. YoonA has always give off an indescribable positive energy. No matter how tough the situation may be, she is able to convince people that she can solve all sort of difficulties. Go Miho is a strong character, and I can feel this trait from YoonA. I extend an invitation to her the very moment when I am sure that YoonA is the perfect candidate to portray Go Miho, and YoonA has lived up to my expectation on how Go Miho should be like, she portrayed her perfectly.”

And as expected, YoonA’s brimming positive energy can be felt after working together. “I think that her biggest charm is that she is able to convey the positive energy and resilience through the TV screen to the viewers. I was also able to clearly feel her unique personality traits during filming. Even when we were not filming, YoonA will cheerfully bring a lot of positive energy to everyone. All in all, she is someone who is hard working and full of charms be it when she is filming or when she is not filming.”

Director Oh Chung Hwan also share that both of the main leads are good friends for many years. “They made the atmosphere at the filming set really harmonious. The relationship between Park Chang Ho and Go Mi Ho these 2 characters also developed from friends to lovers, so I think that the fact that both actors are already friends truly help in the interpretation of the characters. Their performances perfectly reflected a marriage relationship that was built up from friendship and trust.”

Lastly, he also did not forget to recommend <Big Mouth> to Taiwan audience again. “This is a very interesting drama that will make you constantly waiting for next episode in order to find out what happened. You can see how a framed Park Chang Ho overcomes his crises, who is the real ‘Big Mouse’ that is behind the whole situation, and also how Park Chang Ho and Go Miho will join hands to fight against the evil”, he also gave a preview on how the endless turning points in the drama will make everyone exclaim until the last moment. <Big Mouth> has 16 episodes and will be updated with new episodes on Friday and Saturday exclusively on Disney +

The education section could be updated. His bachelor of film arts degree was earned in I think 2016 from Konkuk University (so that is completed, he's not still majoring in it), and according to his Korean wiki page (https://namu.wiki/w/이종석(배우), he also earned his masters in movie acting, also from Konkuk University.

Last global updates has been made in 2016 after W2W, so there are enough changes to be done...

So, @hillllllllypls just post for now his new photos to close empty places on that page

Drama 'Big Mouth', viewer ratings and topicality on the rise

    Enter 2022-08-17 07:23
    "Are you Big Mouse?"

MBC's Friday-Saturday drama 'Big Mouth' is rising by word of mouth in both viewer ratings and topicality.

In an OTT content recommendation platform survey, it overtook 'Strange Lawyer Woo Young-woo' and took the top spot for integrated content for two weeks in a row.

Big Mouth, which depicts the process of a lawyer involved in a murder case becoming a rare genius con artist, catches the viewers' attention one by one with a curious ending every time.

‘Big Mouth’ review: a case of mistaken identity turns into a fight for survival

Two episodes in, this noir crime/thriller series starring Lee Jong-Suk and YoonA from Girls’ Generation has set the scene for a David vs Goliath conflict, with many more layers waiting to be unraveled

    ByRuby C
    30th July 2022

A case of mistaken identity is a classic in the K-drama trope handbook, whether it be a switcheroo between siblings (twins or otherwise), friends who have each other’s backs, or a (yet another classic) case of amnesia. Their approaches may differ, but when one takes apart the trope in the context of a drama or thriller, it often boils down to this: a fight for survival.

That’s definitely top of the priority list for Park Chang-ho (Lee Jong Suk, returning to TV since 2019’s Romance is a Bonus Book), the protagonist of MBC’s latest noir crime/thriller series Big Mouth. A private practice attorney with a mere 10 per cent win rate, Chang-ho is nicknamed ‘Big Mouth’ as he’s known for “run[ning] his mouth without the skills to back it up”. He reaches rock bottom when he loses a case centering on a scam – that he too is a victim of – much to the ire of those he represents in court. To make matters worse, he ends up borrowing money from loan sharks to stay afloat – which he hides from his wife and high school sweetheart Go Mi-ho (YoonA from Girls’ Generation).

When Chang-ho is approached by mayor Choi Do-ha (Kim Joo-hun) to handle a murder case involving high-flying individuals, the down-and-out attorney believes that he’s finally getting his big break. The tables are turned, though, when he takes a risk and crosses ruthless media mogul Gong Ji-hoon (Yang Kyung-won), attempting to leverage a key piece of evidence for monetary gain.

After getting into a car accident on the night of his wedding anniversary, Chang-ho gets arrested at the hospital for suspected drug use. He’s then falsely accused of being Big Mouse, a genius con artist who swiped slush funds from NR Forum, a secret organization backed by the upper echelons of the Korean business world – including Ji-hoon. (There’s a pun in the moniker, as the words ‘mouth’ and ‘mouse’ are written the same way in Korean: 마우스, or ma-u-seu. This subtle wordplay, however, is likely to be lost on non-Korean speakers.)

Chang-ho gets thrown in prison – ironically, “the only place in Korea where lawlessness is allowed” – and begins his fight for survival within the most corrupt of environments. Though Big Mouse is shunned by fellow inmates, he finds early allies in cellmates Jerry (Kwak Dong-yeon) and No Bak (Yang Hyung-wook).

Lee Jong-Suk Kwak Dong-Yeon and Yang Hyung-wook in Big Mouth Lee Jong Suk, Kwak Dong-yeon and Yang Hyung-wook in ‘Big Mouth’. Credit: Disney+

Meanwhile, Mi-ho, known to be the “family’s troubleshooter”, refuses to sit and mope about her husband’s situation. Ever the doer, she takes a brave step into the lion’s den by applying to work at the hospital central to the murder case. Despite the misgivings she has about Chang-ho’s choices, her loyalty to and trust in her husband is what motivates her to uncover the truth and attempt to clear his name.

For a noir-themed drama, Big Mouth is not entirely dark and dreary, at least as seen in its first two episodes. It has its fair share of lighter moments, mostly centering on Chang-ho’s dynamics with Mi-ho and his father-in-law (Lee Ki-young), a former police officer-turned-office manager. In particular, the close relationship between the two men is anchored by an easy, comfortable chemistry between both actors, who had acted together in 2017’s While You Were Sleeping. (Big Mouth director Oh Choong-hwan was also at the helm of that drama.) As jarring as they may seem when set against the show’s darker themes of corruption and abuse of power, the newly incarcerated Chang-ho appears to rely on these light-hearted memories as a source of strength.

Lee Jong Suk admirably covers a lot of dimensional ground as Chang-ho in just two episodes, going from a smooth-talking lawyer, a chummy son-in-law and sweet-tongued husband to a shrewd ‘double agent’ and then a beaten-down inmate who has to decide between fight or flight. He offers a contrast to YoonA’s down-to-earth yet shrewd portrayal of Mi-ho, who also has survival on her mind – albeit in the societal rat race. Their chemistry as a couple is convincing enough; however, as both actors let on in a recent interview, it appears that they won’t be on screen together as much in subsequent episodes.

Yang Kyung-won in Big Mouth Yang Kyung-won in ‘Big Mouth’. Credit: Disney+

Another actor worthy of mention is Yang Kyung-won, who brought comic relief to viewers in Vincenzo and Crash Landing on You. He then made a 180-degree turn as antagonistic inmate Du-sik in One Ordinary Day, getting all up in people’s faces and letting his fists do the talking. In Big Mouth, Yang’s portrayal of Ji-hoon is purposefully restrained; this also makes him appear more volatile, proving that less is certainly more.

Though the drama’s David and Goliath premise is not new, it piques enough interest for what else is to come: the hospital conspiracy reveal, the impending battle for justice, the power politics within NR Forum – and ultimately, uncovering the true identity of Big Mouse. As the drama progresses, one can only hope that Big Mouth will be able to continue putting its money where its mouth is, and not bite off more than it can chew.

Big Mouth airs every Friday and Saturday on MBC and will also be available to stream on Disney+ in selected regions

[Crisis X] It's done... it's done! It was X! Kwon Sang-woo in crisis is coming! | 1st Trailer | wave original

‘X In Crisis’: Kwon Sang-woo, Sung Dong-il star in hilarious new trailer

The new Korean comedy lands on Wavve next month

kwon sang-woo x in crisis trailer wavve k-drama

South Korean streaming platform Wavve has released the first trailer for its upcoming comedy series, X In Crisis (a literal translation of its Korean title).

X In Crisis begins streaming from September 2 onwards on Wavve. A new preview, shared on August 5, gives the first glimpse into the hilarious comedy of the series. The clip begins with the eccentric Yoon Bo-woo (Why Her?‘s Kwon Sang-woo), a regular 9-to-5 office worker who underestimates the precariousness of stock investments and ends up losing ₩30billion.

It transitions into a montage that shows how his life has gone downhill since, from facing a dismissal from his company to suffering from immense hair loss.

X In Crisis is based on the South Korean novel It Hurts Because I’m A Middle Aged Man (literal translation), and follows Bo-woo’s unfortunate circumstances as he faces all kinds of catastrophes including stock crashes, housing price surges and unemployment, all while trying to hold out for better days.

Aside from Kwon, veteran actor Sung Dong-il (Jirisan, Hospital Playlist) stars as neighbourhood physician Heo Joon, a confidante and doctor to Bo-woo. Im Se-mi (True Beauty) plays Ah Nae, Bo-woo’s wife who dreams of becoming a popular web novelist.

X In Crisis is also helmed by The Pirates: Goblin Flag and The Accidental Detective director Kim Jung-joon, and penned by writer Kwak Kyung-yoon, previously known for their work on dramas such as Love Revolution and Big Forest.

In other Korean entertainment news, ongoing fantasy K-drama Alchemy Of Souls will not drop new episodes on August 13 and 14 as previously scheduled, in order to “enhance the level of completion for the second half [of the series]”. Instead, two separate specials for the series will be aired during the show’s usual timeslot.

Based on a book titled “It Hurts Because I’m a Middle-Aged Man” (literal title), wavve’s upcoming original drama “X of Crisis” is a cataclysmic comedy about the unfortunate life of “Mr. a.” While holding out for life to improve, he faces a combination of stock crashes, housing price surges, and the danger of resignation all at once. Although he took pride in succeeding in life, he takes a direct hit from the passage of time and heads downhill in life.

Kwon Sang Woo will be playing the role of the ordinary middle-aged man Mr. a, who thought his life was going places only to find out that it’s already in the stages of declining. Mr. a graduated from a prestigious university and entered a large company, but he goes from riches to rags after experiencing the ups and downs of the passage of time.

Sung Dong Il will be starring as Heo Joon, the neighborhood doctor. He always bickers with his patients with his nonchalant and tired attitude, but he is more caring than anyone else. Although he makes Mr. a flustered with his painfully honest words, he doesn’t hold back in giving advice that resonates with the heart.

The newly released stills capture Mr. a with his “life mentor” Heo Joon. As Kwon Sang Woo and Sung Dong Il previously starred together in “The Accidental Detective” series, viewers can look forward to seeing their new and improved synergy. As both actors are no stranger to the comedy genre, they will definitely showcase a funny and exciting relationship.

Right when Mr. a is confident that he’s living a successful life, he actually starts falling downhill in life and meets his life mentor Heo Joon, who only offers him harsh truths. While Mr. a has fallen into a deep slump, the happy Heo Joon appears in his life to offer refuge and a new outlook on life.

Whenever Mr. a endures hardship, Heo Joon is always right by his side. Somehow, the two end up as “check up buddies,” finding themselves in matching hospital gowns as they wait for their health check ups. Mr. a looks sad and limp but Heo Joon stays firm and looks at him with a piercing gaze, as if ready to call him out.

Heo Joon is clearly a man of many surprises, as he also meets up with Mr. a wearing an unlikely outfit with sunglasses and a stylish leather jacket. Viewers can look forward to seeing how Heo Joon uses his supercar as an unusual method to help cheer Mr. a up.

Regarding the outwardly cold and harsh but inwardly warm and caring Heo Joon, Sung Dong Il commented, “Heo Joon is like your neighborhood hyung as well as a friend. [The drama] includes small stories that could happen around us with our neighbors, younger siblings, fathers, and uncles. It’s a drama you can enjoy without burden.”

The actors spoke about their synergy with Kwon Sang Woo sharing, “Sung Dong Il is a hyung that’s like family and my soul’s partner. I’m so glad we are able to work on this project together.” Sung Dong Il added, “Kwon Sang Woo is like a neighborhood friend and we have a comfortable relationship. I think our synergy comes out when we say our lines back and forth.”

“X of Crisis” will premiere on September 2.

  9. There’s a brand-new K-drama on the scene, and it looks amazing. Big Mouth, starring Lee Jong Suk and Girls’ Generation’s YoonA, has broken box office records.

    Add-a-subheading-2022-08-15T105349.530-1024x538.png

For all K-drama lovers out there, seems like there is a new show for y’all to check out! While Lee Jong Suk and Girls’ Generation fame YoonA-starrer Big Mouth has been on-air for a while now, the K-drama has started receiving immense love mid-way, after having hit double digits in viewership ratings.
As Big Mouth aired its fifth and sixth episodes on August 12 and 13, respectively, seems like the general audience has been in awe of the storyline, more so now, with the talented actors working their charm on camera.

If the personal records set by the noir drama are anything to go by, seems like we have yet another hit on our hands!
According to Nielsen Korea, from an average nationwide viewership rating of 9.8 percent on its fifth episode, the drama broke its own personal record by achieving an all time high of 10.8 percent with its most recent episode.
All avid K-drama enthusiasts may already be aware just how difficult a feat it is to smash past double digits in viewership ratings!
As far as the show itself is concerned, MBC’s new drama stars K-drama heartthrob Lee Jong Suk as Park Chang Ho and Girls’ Generation star YoonA as Go Mi Ho. The noir new show follows their journey as Chang Ho, an underperforming lawyer gets entangled in a murder case.
From adhering to the law to turning into a genius con artist overnight, the drama showcases his journey as he dives deep into a conspiracy that seems to be brewing amongst the rich upper class. What follows is his adventure, at the same time his zeal to survive and keep his family safe.
Having started airing on July 29, Big Mouth has slowly and steadily gained a niche following with the ratings soaring at the moment.

  11. 3 Main Reasons Why "Big Mouth" Is A Must Watch

    Spoiler

    mbc.jpg

"Big Mouth" is MBC's latest ongoing Korean drama. The drama aired on 29th July and was already highly anticipated even before its release. The drama marks the return of Lee JongSuk to the television screen after being discharged from the military. The news of the top actress, Girls' Generation's YoonA, joining Lee JongSuk on screen hyped the upcoming show further.

"Big Mouth" tells the story of Park ChangHo (Lee JongSuk), a lawyer with barely any victorious cases. But despite so, he was happily married to the love of his life, Go MiHo (Girl's Generation's YoonA).  His life takes a turn for the worse when he gets entangled in a murder case, that puts him and his family in a life-threatening situation.

"Big Mouth" received a great response from its viewers. The sixth episode scored a rating of 10.8%, making it the most watched drama in its time slot. To convince you further, we have compiled the top 3 reasons why we are in love with "Big Mouth" and why you must tune in it now!

    The article contains spoilers!

    1. The Return Of Lee JongSuk

"Big Mouth" appears as a treat to Lee JongSuk's fans. The actor completed his military service in 2021 and, since then, the fans could not wait to see him on the television screen again. The fans held great hopes for his return and he lived up to them.

Lee JongSuk takes the role of Park ChangHo. ChangHo initially appeared as an adorable, soft person, a loving husband and son-in-law. He came to be known as 'Big Mouth', since he tends to make too many promises yet fails to win in court. Though he struggled in winning many cases, he still kept up his bright nature. And here is when Lee JongSuk's outstanding duality enters.

ChangHo found himself entangled in a conspiracy and begins to be identified as 'Big Mouse', the most wanted criminal. In episode 2, he was arrested for drug abuse and soon, when his office was raided by the police, they found bars of gold, a pistol and lots of cash. Though he insisted that he was framed, his attempts proved futile.

With the reality being too much to bear, he tried to attempt suicide but was warned that his attempts will only result in life long disability, so he began to provoke the other prison inmates to kill him. Lee JongSuk amazes his fans with ChangHo's chilling transformation from an ambitious man to a hopeless, deranged one, who has nothing to lose.

3 Main Reasons Why "Big Mouth" Is A Must Watch

    MBC

Lee Jong Suk and Lim YoonA's chemistry will make your heart pound for them!

Go MiHo and Park ChangHo, have been together since high school and stuck by each other's side through thick and thin. In episode 1, the couple are displayed as the perfect domestic couple with Go MiHo nagging and scolding ChangHo and him being scared of even answering her phone when he loses his case.

Whilst their story delighted us and their adorable moments made us feel all giddy, our hearts broke for them too. No matter how much ChangHo toughened up in prison, he would break down before her. Be it the time he saw her on the news or standing before her, he was unable to hold his tears.

The two proved to be the power couple of the year. The tragedy doesn't hold them back. The two continue to fight and we are all rooting for them!

    Reversal to reversal

'Big Mouth'... Lee Jong Suk, Lim Yoon-Ah Power!

    0000998106_001_20220816063102558.jpg?type=w430

Hallyu stars Lee Jong Suk and Lim Yoon-a surpass the syndrome-level popularity of ENA's Wednesday-Thursday drama 'Strange Lawyer Woo Young-woo'. They are demonstrating their potential by raising the ratings of MBC's Friday-Saturday drama 'Big Mouth', which has been aired since July 29, to the 10% level (Nielsen Korea) on the 13th after 6 episodes airing.

The drama tells the story of Lee Jong Suk, a lawyer who has been accused of being a 'Big Mouse', and his wife and nurse Lim Yoon-a, who struggle to get rid of their false accusations.

Lee Jong Suk, who was imprisoned in a prison after being caught up in a conspiracy by the powerful, rather pretends to be a 'big mouse' and quickly portrays the process of becoming the head of the inmates, increasing the sense of immersion. Yoona Lim uses her nurse's professional skills to dig into the heart of the murder case involving Lee Jong Suk, adding the fun to the mystery drama. Those who go through various crises are leading a reversal every time by engaging in a brain battle with the real 'Big Mouse'. Thanks to this, the ratings rose from 6.2% in the first episode to 10.8% in the sixth episode. Among the mini-series currently airing, it ranked second in viewership ratings. In particular, the two are evaluated to have exerted great power in recording double digits together with the first place 'Strange Lawyer Woo Young-woo' (14.6%).

The topical level is also rising sharply. It ranked 2nd in 'Drama TV Topics' by Good Data Corporation, a topical survey company, and 3rd in CJ ENM's Content Influence Index (CPI) in the drama category.

The YouTube summary video released by some content introduction channels also confirms the activities of Lee Jong Suk and Lim Yoon-a. It attracted the attention of viewers who came in contact with the drama late and surpassed the maximum of 1.7 million views. The love scene video released through MBC's official channel also reached 200,000 views.

Thanks to the two people who are raising their name as Hallyu stars, they are attracting attention overseas as well. The drama was released through Disney+, an online video service (OTT), and as of the 15th, it ranked first in five countries including Korea, Indonesia, and Singapore. In addition, it is demonstrating its power by beating 'Woo Young-woo' and ranking 9th on the 'Newest Popular Drama' chart of Douban, China's largest review site.

The American review site IMDB received a relatively high rating of 8.1 out of 10, collecting comments from Korean drama fans saying, “Lee Jong Suk did not disappoint.”
