Like you say, Asia is not US. I really like NPH. NPH has been in the showbiz since he was a child and only came out in 2006. By that time he has already established a successful career in Broadway and on TV. He was also already chosen to be Barney in How I met your Mother by then. Of course it is safe to assume the makers know of his orientation. I cannot recall at the top of my head any roles which he acted as an explicitly straight man after he came out. I'm a fan of Matt Bomer too, and rather sad he could never be the leading man he was meant to be because he came out. I must stress I'm not saying everyone in showbiz should stay in the closet, but it is an important decision that has some grave consequences. One just have to read the interviews of some openly out actors in Hollywood to understand their challenges, as if there is not enough competition in the industry already. On YZ selling themselves as a gay couple, I think we usually see what we want to see. Both attract new fans everyday, and I suspect their opinions may differ from a CPF's. Everyone simply sees thing through difference lenses.

NPH starred in Gone Girls as a straight guy in 2014.

I agree with you that we all see the world through our own lens. That also addresses your original comment on how some fans baffle you, simply because they see things differently from you.

But I believe you originally thought they were attracted to each other too. So do you think they are moving away from the CP image?

Just to be clear, I am happy either way if it helps their career and makes them happy.

I agree. I am also  baffled by some fans who constantly lament how sad it is that both of them cannot be seen together, attend events together.. etc and can't seems to move beyond that. Why do they need to seen together just because they are a couple.  Are they a fan of JY and ZZ, or a fan of their relationship? Or perhaps a fan of their own fantasies about them. Both are meant for greater things than to sell 'rot' as you put it. If both had descend to having to "market" themselves as a BL couple..I think they can forget about getting any kind of mainstream offers.

Well, Neil Patrick Harris did not lose any straight roles just because he is out and about with his hubby and kids. :)

Granted China is not as open as the West yet, so they need to take precautions.

But may I be blunt that they are selling themselves as a gay couple whether we like it or not? In other words, they are selling a real life version of rot, which can be more limiting than reel life rot. The fans they are trying to keep are CPF at the moment based on their actions.

Just speaking for myself, I would have moved on to support them as individuals, but that does not seem to be what they intend. I would have loved at one point for them to say that they are just colleagues :)

By the way, I just visited estreline's Instagram. Bad idea. I mean the other couples can all kiss and hug. If @tea4two is right about them trying to expand their opportunities beyond BL, why be seen like this all the time? It does not help anyone move on to support them as individuals.

If only they can be as open!

AAHHH!!!! From the screen cap of the different plushies you posted, I thought it would be the top one, with the big wide eyes....and it is!!!!!! There is just something about seeing 'big boy' JY carrying that cat head in his arms, so tight, not letting go for anything...

Can anybody tell us if what's being said has any interest???

The gal taking the video is asking him to drink more water. Then, she asked if he is feeling good. He replied a resounding GOOD ("hao")

What happen today? Why is he in such high spirits?!?!

@lielee, I think the big difference is if they ever come out as a couple, they have enough support in China and around the world to weather any storm. I really believe so. In this sense, they are extremely blessed.

Hello, I asked my Japanese friend to translate it.

    僕らの手には何もないけど
    かわりに つなぎあえるから
    ひとりきりで 迷わないで
    どんな日もこの手を離さないから

    English:

Although there is nothing in my hand,

I'll shook your hand instead of everything.

Don't lose yourself when you are alone.

I won't let go no matter what happens.

She said that this song as whole would like to express the meaning that "as a friend and(or) lover, I will always support you."

    CR: My jap friend :D

Oh, papi 5 miles your too deep and so mysterious with your HD photos! Maybe your influencing JY and ZZ to be mysterious or is it the other way around ah?

Thanks :) The actual song is here. Sounds like it is a sad and touching song... Can she translate the title too?

Apparently the phrases are verses of a Japanese song by Ram Wire... and that the next line may be intriguing.

Ok. The following are what I read and heard. Why I shared was because I read in few posts how people read and believe that JY wants to stop associating with addicted and etc and because of wed sugar overload, I decided that I should share these with you then on the next day, although I kind of regretted it but since I promised so here goes.

Not sure how many of you heard of this but it was rumoured that JY went to few of his fansite admins and told them not to badmouth ZZ. This, resulted in few of JY fansite closure or changing of new admin. And also JY not being able to get the support for Ah Li Planet Voting, almost all the votes are by CPFs. They said because of this, his photobook wasnt selling well (the purple and yellow ones) but I believe the reason could be because the contents are the same.

It is only on wed I start to believe that the one on JY going to his fans could really be true, I mean we all know what 6 and 2 represents.... and why suddenly JY decided to use it? It seems to be that JY doesnt care anymore, (my personal opinion).

This is not the first time that JY only fans close down their fansite or quit as fan. There were two other incidents that fans became cpf or quit being fans.

The first incident was requested not to talk about again but I found out that not many people know about it so I felt no harm sharing with you all.

    1. Airport Incident - I cant rem the date, whether it is april 3rd or march 4th. and this was requested not to be mentioned at all. So what happened was, JY just arrived at airport and after that, they saw ZZ in his car. JY also requested the fans not to upload the video and photos.

    2. Hotel incident - Cant rem the date again sorry but some ZZ fans found out about ZZ hotel stay and went to the hotel and wait for him, they waited quite some time but instead of seeing ZZ, they saw JY walking out of the hotel.

Both incidents resulted in fans becoming cpf or leaving the fandom.

And thanks @skeletonworks for correcting the date about CJD,

And just earlier weibo was reporting about ZZ will be walking the red carpet but JY not walking the red carpet. Both of them will attend the dinner. And it was obvious JY was showing the folder with ZZ picture on purpose. There are videos showing it. If it is true, then it explains why JY wrote 6 and 2, ZZ singing walk slowly, saying he likes eggyolk mooncake (this could be normal but he laughed after that so it means he knows that cpf will link this to addicted's 12 eggyolk mooncake!) All these is like hinting to us that something is gonna happen (which is tonight 's dinner if it is true!) (Btw did you guys really didnt read about this!?!? It now makes me like I am spreading false infomation! It was all over the weibo!!!!)

I just hope nobody come killing me after this since the rule is not to share about the two incidents especially the airport incident. C'mon! I am sure some people here knows this!

Thanks :) My weibo was set up a long while ago and I followed many people, not only JY and ZZ.

I heard from @jlt4ever that the purple one is sold out. The yellow one is almost sold out too :) So no worries there.

By the way, she is at the Bazaar charity gala dinner tonight!!! I made her promise to give a fan account :P

    Imagine if

    Spoiler

ZZ and JY really attend the event and someone invited them to take a photo together... I think she will burst into tears!

@mrsaturn, she can't confirmed yet. Not in the stadium and no one has seen ZZ. Anyway she is not pinning her hopes too high.

·Are you able to find clearer videos on this? On weibo,

    Spoiler

ZZ's only fans are up in arms saying that it is photo-shopped and that either CPF is once again trying to destroy the reputation of ZZ or that JY is riding on ZZ's coat-tails.

I find it odd that there are so many people and yet only a few photos captured this. At the same time, none of the two videos I've seen thus far (including the one posted by @mrsaturn two floors down), clearly show ZZ's photos in his folder... I am just afraid that it is fake.

Thanks @bearology! Looks more real with every photo but then it seems to originate from the same few people?. If this is true, then looks like they are getting bolder and bolder with each passing day. This would also suggest that they are serious about each other.

In Korea, 3,000 fans attended ZZ's concert. I believe a similar number will attend JY's fan meet in Korea later this year.

    Hola Soompiers,

No worries we know you have some problems with Europeans, we are here (we, because we are a married gay Spanish couple, hope one day you can get this amazing opportunity in most of your countries) to add some more good news. In Europe 'Addicted' is on rise online and also offline (we will send you a photo a Addicted Tshirt shortly) a countless number of European are following this forum but few dares to get in. Several pieces of your topics are in Twitter and Google + where we have discussion (veri different from yours but that's the beautiful of coming from different corners of the world) :)  We decided to jump in today after 3 weeks of monitoring. simply because to follow closer and feed back our lovely free western world. In Spain next week a TV News program will be talking among several subjects also about 'Addicted' and the reason of its popularity and the ban. Again no worries we will not underline that but please do understand us

We will update you about the European side, hope others will join I know here there are some Europeans. We really share your same interest and love for these actors/men (We do not call them boys it does not sound good in most European language) Thanks for having given us this opportunity and do not be scared about our Latin or Viking temper we are simple like that. Despite the time change a lot of us have been following the streaming yesterday, we have some very good Chinese speaking European ones :):)

About the two men being in love, be very sure they really are. too evident, too clear sometimes you do not need to dig to know face can say more than words, numbers, cards, astrology and so on.

Gracias Soompiers and have a good one and feel free to ask whatever you like.

Hi, glad to hear that :). JY probably knows some Spanish since he used to hang out with a bunch of Spanish in Shanghai over beer.

Just to be clear, we are not anti-Europeans here. @Kim Kruisbessie, @charlie10 and @Scandani are Europeans who are regular Addicted soompiers. Speaking of which, I hope @Scandani is okay. It's been a while since we hear from her...

I think my point has always been that if you want to influence China, you cannot be confrontational.

If the message is "We love the show.", "The actors are fantastic.", "I want to learn Mandarin because of the show.", "I like to visit China because of the show", it will soften the ban on the boys.

But if it is "China is oppressive", "China has violated human rights", "We must protest", "We must change China", then they will likely stay extremely defensive and the boys will continue to suffer...

I hope you understand that it is because we really really love the boys dearly that we do not want any more bad things to happen to them. Hence, we (or maybe I) may come across as hostile. Besides, this is a fan site. I don't think we want this to become a political one. Having said that, if it helps the boys, I believe all of us will assist. You probably have noticed their sell out concerts, and photobook, DVD sales, for example.

  15. @Kim Kruisbessie. you can understand this I believe :)  JY speaking English. Yes, he said:"What do you want?" :)

By the way, @bearology and @ryokise, one question. Do you all know why FS and CW has livestreams related to the Bazaar Charity show? I understand that JY is going to attend the show. Yet he has no livestream for the event? Did I miss something? Who is attending the event?

By the way, the interview with ZZ was by a very experienced and respected journalist and host, Yang Lan. She was voted as one of the 100 most powerful women in the world by Forbes magazine in 2013. For her to mention about dogs and cats, shows that she is also CPF :)

  16. @moongirl999, thanks for sharing. I often think that this is the biggest hurdle we face in the acceptance of the possibility of same-sex relationship. I respect your religious beliefs especially since I feel that religion has helped many people lead fulfilling lives. At the same time, I know a Jesuit who shared with me that religious scriptures are open to interpretation in light of new discoveries and knowledge. It is never dogmatic which explains why there are so many different sects within any religious group. Already we know many churches and a few Muslim sects beginning to accept homosexual members, or are at least tolerant (just like the current Pope). I like to thank you for being willing to see that there is love between them and being honest with how you feel. I guess we will leave it to whoever we believe as the divine to judge whether they are deserving or not of a good afterlife. Personally, I don't think judging how moral others are is within the realm of man? By the way, I am atheist so it's okay if you take it with a pinch of salt.

@germanknight, in the same light, your assumption appears to be that the Chinese will never change. It could be true that it is harder for an authoritarian regime to shift gears but Chinese are also known to be nimble and flexible. The younger generation are far more open too. If anything, the censorship is not dogmatic too but Chinese don't like direct confrontation. The ban is not for life. It will be lifted one day but don't expect them to issue an apology or succumb to public protest. The more one protest, the more hardline they become. Instead, I feel that we need to appeal to their ego and rational mind - to paint why allowing this would be good for them. The more they hear such messages, the more likely they will seriously consider the possibility. I think this is one huge difference between Western and Eastern culture. By the way, gay culture cannot be separated from the bigger socio-cultural context it is in. Similarly to affect change, you cannot disregard the culture and assume that what has worked in the West will work in other places.

  17. This portion of the finale of the relatively popular show "Love O2O" made it through the censors.

The actors are not the leads but it is surprising that they are able to act out the scene without the censors intervening. It is shown on Jiangsu and Dongfang satellite tv stations. NOT just on the web.

In summary, KO (the guy carrying some groceries) budges in without an invitation into the new home of the guy whose name sounds like Beauty. He has made a shopping list and then they shop cookware together. He then cooks for him and at the end of the meal tells Beauty that he wants to move in with him. He will be responsible for all the chores...

There is already a thread on Love O2O so the only reason why I posted this here is because this is obviously a gay scene. It makes the ban on JY and ZZ ever more intriguing.

@skeletonworks, earlier you asked when did CJD said that her life as fujoshi's complete. I am not sure but it seems to be before 18th Mar 2016. Around the time of the steel pipe. She did not post on her own weibo. But I have a feeling that

@liesl, i absolutely agree with you. They are so perfect together. I often think that if there is no ban, they will be the first same-sex power couple in Chinese or even Asian entertainment industry.

They can sell anything. Once, I joked with @jlt4ever that if they model for CK underwear, it will be snapped up in no time. When reporters interview the buyers, they probably will share that they are buying for their dad, husband, boyfriend and brothers. When they ran out of people to mention, they might just say that they are 女汉子 meaning strong women. The reporters will join in and buy a pair too. :P

@ronper2016, you brought out a good point. Demon Girl Season 1 has ended. There is rumour that he is supposed to be in the last 3 episodes of the second season starting 8th Sep 2016.

May I share that Demon Girl's season 1 rating is not spectacular... It's weibo discussion did not even beat Addicted despite it being 20 episodes long versus 12 episodes for Addicted. Note: Addicted was banned from the 13th episode onwards in China. Addicted has 1.7 billion weibo discussion/views while Demon Girl is around 1.4 billion.

I have a feeling that it will be hard to beat Kiss Me, which is quite hot in China now.

Wow. Thanks :) It took the four of us more than a month to translate the 74 minutes video. I am not sure if it is too exhausting for one person to translate into three languages... Actually, the most critical thing right now I feel is to re-upload the video with credits. Furthermore, I understand that adding subtitles is a tedious process. I am not sure if it is possible for more than one person to work on the subtitling... It is going to be exhausting work for @narakeiko.

At the same time, the subtitling can be very confusing too. Since we are translating not only the chinese sub-titles but also what were said by JY, ZZ and others. Maybe it's best for @narakeiko to work out so that we can refine the script if needed for future translation into other European languages (if you or other people are still in for it later on)

  20. Thanks @gashupingo, @skeletonworks and @bearology for your advice. Erm... the problem is I don't wish to open a youtube channel. Is there anyone who is willing to adopt and work with @narakeiko on the subbing? By the way, as advised, I've included the credits right at the beginning.

@skeletonworks, I honestly feel that if someone wants to use the translation, I am more than happy. They can certainly credit us. I mean it's not just my work. It is the effort of 4 people, including @lovelogic26, @prima13facie and @jlt4ever too.  Personally, I don't even see it as plagiarism if it means more non-Chinese speaking folks get to know how they got to know each other and how their relationship developed. That is my motivation in the first place.

By the way, the video does not include events from June onwards such as the concerts of JY and ZZ and the instagram post of the white cat, etc. But I guess it at least gives us a good idea of how they know each other from Nov 2015 to May 2016.

Last but not least, when I woke up today, I suddenly remembered that I skipped a 8 seconds segment because it was unintelligible to me. The snippet is between 1:10:32 to 1:10:40. Can anyone make out what ZZ is saying then?

Update: Thanks to @prima13facie, who made the effort to listen to another video to make out what ZZ said. The translation is completed :)

@lielee, I think I will melt if ZZ and JY sing the Promise one day...even if they sang it with a Chinese accent. :P

@xix19xix you are very right the biggest LGBT organization - without counting Hong Kong and Macau - is actually in China, Media are indeed a propaganda machine that however nobody really cares too much. China has the largest number of people travelling abroad and mainly to the west and with the years their education is on rise hence they have been starting thinking. A large number of Chinese despite the ban has been watching Addicted what is easy to understand by watching the reaction they have during the concert as the very last one. It is true in the western world we got thing after several years but we have been fighting for it. This is the big difference, i do not see China actually going on a more open society i see part of Chinese mocking the ruling party and going on their way anyway. The interactions of those 2 actors is a daily bypassing the rules. I found a weibo interaction of the actor that plays the role of the father of BLY in the series a good, strong and brave one. What it is hard for me to understand - perhaps because i am not Chinese - is our there, they have 1 billion 300 million people most of them drinking bitter water without spitting that's the most dramatic part. I do not believe in country changing if people is not willing to change. I love despite few mention here the author of the book of these series, she is really a great one indeed she dreams with consistent words and challenging the party, brave and visionary continuing her prolific work. I have seen Asians countries changing quite a lot with people risking their life i hope as it has been happening with Arab spring with all its problems also in Asia some countries will start standing up for their rights. Myanmar is an example that should push others, Thailand is on a sort of beginning and Singapore despite free compared to others is going to change the constitution in favor of minorities to be more representative. Japan and Taiwan are big example of democracy keeping their culture alive but also giving people freedom. My apology to be so long but there are situation believe me very hard to be accepted by watching people with no reaction at all. China continues to ban and will continue to do so until people will no halt them and they do ban because they know they can because nobody dares challenging them

Well, I suspect that most Chinese are happy with the way things are. After all, China is relatively safe for a big country. How many Western nations can claim that it is safe for women to walk alone in the streets in the middle of the night? You can in China. The economy is chugging along better than most European countries. The problem is they are still at the phase where they have bigger issues to tackle such as corruption, redistribution of wealth, food safety, inflation, ethnic tensions, South China Sea, etc. LGBT rights is honestly a matter of the minority. They won't pay too much attention to this for a while.

I don't think Arab Spring is a good example too. After all, China takes care of its people enough to lift many out of poverty. Most are contented. I have to say that many Chinese (including overseas Chinese) seriously disdain the democratic system of Taiwan. It is just too chaotic and all about trying to bring down your political opponents rather than doing actual work. Instead, Singapore is a closer comparison. I think China like our system. We are basically also one party rule with strong economic fundamentals and basic rights. By the way, Singapore isn't socially progressive too, due to the influence of religious conservatives. I think we will be one of the last in the world to recognise LGBT rights. In fact, it is still criminal by law (though not enforced) to engage in consensual same sex intercourse.

That is not to say that China is not changing. But she prefers a non-aggressive approach unlike the Umbrella movement in Hong Kong. Have you all seen clips of Fu Yuanhui during the Olympics? China is actually celebrating (with the world) a bronze medal winner who exudes authentic joy and personality. Several news reports have shared how this is a stark contrast to the reaction of Chinese in previous Olympics. So change will come but not in the Western way.

If we are hoping they will get married in the next few years though, it probably would have to be overseas. By the way, they are only 22 and 24... I think they should wait. Sorry if I offend anyone here. I am writing as if they are a couple because I seriously think they are. But they may not be.

On a lighter note, JY has gained a fair bit of weight lately. Some weibo fans joked that ZZ is "responsible" for the "growing tummy". :P
