So Ji Sub Is the King of Monitoring Himself

Recently, upcoming SBS drama "Ghost" revealed several snapshots of So Ji Sub from its filming sets. So Ji Sub is playing the role of detective Kim Woo Hyun of National Security Cyber Investigation Unit. In the revealed pictures, So Ji Sub is standing closely to a little screen, monitoring his own acting.

Due to the fast-paced nature of drama filming, actors and actresses seldom have time to watch their own acting on the sets. However, So Ji Sub is willingly sparing his breaks to watch scenes he had just filmed. Such professionalism comes from his long standing acting career.

So Ji Sub has a very close relationship with the director of "Ghost," producer Kim Hyung Shik. So Ji Sub and producer Kim Hyung Shik first met on the sets of "Cain and Abel" in 2009 and continue to be good friends. As this is the first project they are working together in three years, So Ji Sub and producer Kim Hyung Shik are having continuous discussions to improve the quality of the show and portray more appealing characters and plot.

During the filming of "Ghost" at a subway station on May 4, So Ji Sub's "monitoring instincts" came out once again. The filming was held at Digital Media City station of Gyengui line, where the interval between trains is longer than usual, about 10 to 20 minutes long. 200 Million Won Invested Into a One-Minute Explosion Scene in So Ji Sub’s ‘Ghost’

So Ji Sub’s upcoming SBS drama Ghost is making headlines for its blockbuster filming scale.

As part of its drama storyline, an important explosion scene was filmed recently for the drama. Shot at a closed coal briquette factory in Gangwon-do, the one-minute explosion scene filmed was revealed to have come at the cost of 200 million won (approximately 174,000 U.S. dollars. Utilizing eight large-scale cameras, the scene was shot using some 74 sticks of dynamite.

A drama production source said regarding the scene, “Both in terms of the drama’s storyline and for iconic reasons, a lot of investment was put into this one scene. Though the scene will only come out for a minute in the drama when it airs, the scene itself took three days to prepare and shoot. Though it was a difficult shoot and many of the actors and staff members had to endure a lot, we think a very neat-looking scene will be shown.”

Ghost revolves around the world of the cyber crimes investigation unit. In addition to So Ji Sub, the drama also stars Lee Yeon Hee, Choi Daniel and MBLAQ’s G.O.
