Actor Kang Dong-won talks about himself as Sad Eye, a killer in the new movie "Cop: Duelist."

The Journal: It was your first epic film. So what was your experience of people living in another era?

-Kang: I loved it, I mean, I found a whole new different side of me living as "Sad Eye" in long straight hair and a Hanbok.

What was it about Sad Eye that fascinated you?

-Kang: When I first read the scenario, he was set up basically as the most multi-dimensional character I had ever come across. He's constantly contradicting himself, and throughout the course of the movie, he changes. He transforms into many different things, which I thought was really interesting.

Previously, you've been acting in "pretty boy" roles. How did you feel making a movie that had a lot of maleness to it this time?

-Kang: I think a sword gives us this manly feeling. I had so much fun doing the martial arts for the film. Jumping, rolling and fighting, you get injured here and there but it doesn't matter. It's just so wild and fun. I even want to keep learning it.

The movie stirs up a lot of the traditions of romance or romantic films. Was that appealing to you, too?

-Kang: I love the fact that the film takes different directions, too. It goes for something obvious and all of a sudden it goes in a completely different direction. Which I loved.

You're quite mean to your girl in the movie. Wouldn't your female fans be disappointed with you?

-Kang: I'd be underestimating them as an audience if I were to go do the same thing over and over again. This character is somebody that is neither a hero or villain. He's a human being that contradicts himself, and I think it's a great character to watch, to watch his transformation throughout the course of the movie.

You've been working hard. What's the best treat you could give yourself?

-Kang: Big Mac with super size coke!

You love music. What's currently spinning in your CD player?

-Kang: Dynamite, a new album of Jamiroquai.

You're a real trendsetter. What's your favorite item in your closet?

-Kang: Levis, Levis, Levis.

All i know that Duelist is just come out in Korea and do pretty well in viewer's rating ...

Maybe he's doing some promotion for Duelist now ...
