As for old ulzzangs, some are fake and some are not, actually i think most of

the old ulzzangs in the old days were real, but i don't know about now.

Hmm, I'm not sure either but I heard it somewhere that to be a Korean ulzzang, you have to be a korean (haha, obviously) and win the ulzzang contest held by particular korean website (daum or smth, I forgot). But I think the contest is not that popular anymore nowadays (I don't even sure if they still hold the contest), so now many clothing models and everything are becoming ulzzang....

yes. again, back in the old days, they HAD to win contests to be called an 'ulzzang.' Sites such as Damoim and Daum. These days, the contests are still held, but are not popular and whoever gets their schoolmates to vote for them the most wins. The contests doesn't produce anymore 'ulzzang' just 'wannbe-popular-zzangs'... Contests aren't popular these days.. Modeling sites are making unknown 'cuties' well-known.. I guess Modeling sites are the new way to become an unofficial 'ulzzang'
