Plot

 

 

After going through a divorce, Ae Yeon experienced difficulties raising her two children by herself. Now, 11 years later, she works part-time at a big mart. Her daughter and son are all grown up. The daughter, Mi Rae, wanted to become a person her mother could rely on. She works as the MD at a big mart. She is also the breadwinner of the family. The son, Hyun Jae, has a unique charm, but he is also the troublemaker of the family. One day, Moo Jin appears in front of his family as the owner of the villa building where they live. Moo Jin hopes to reunite with his beloved ex-wife Ae Yeon and even tries to seduce her, but the daughter, Mi Rae, is strongly opposed to her father's idea. On June 16, Xportsnews reported that SHINee’s Minho, Son Naeun, Ji Jin Hee, and Kim Ji Soo are in discussions to appear in the new drama “Melo House” (working title).

In response to the report, Minho’s agency SM Entertainment confirmed, “Minho has received an offer to star in ‘Melo House’ and is currently reviewing the offer.”

Son Naeun’s agency YG Entertainment also shared, “‘Melo House” is one of the projects she has received an offer for. She’s currently reviewing the offer.”

Similarly, Ji Jin Hee’s agency Ikkle Entertainment and Kim Ji Soo’s agency IOK Company each remarked that both are also reviewing the offers to star in the drama.

Ji Jin Hee, Kim Jee Soo, Son Na Eun, Choi Min Ho, and Yoon San Ha's K-drama, Melo House, is confirmed to premiere on August 10, after the conclusion of Miss Night and Day. 

JTBC's Melo House is a bloody family melodrama where the father, who was abandoned 11 years ago by his family, returns as the owner of their building. The show approaches the family dynamic differently, depicting relationships that are as sincere and poignant.  

Ji Jin Hee plays Byun Moo Jin, who returns as the owner of the building where his family lives after being cut off by them following his business failure. He returns after 11 years to win back his beloved ex-wife Geum Ae Yeon (Kim Jee Soo). With Gatsby-level wealth, Moo Jin shows up wherever Ae Yeon is and showers her with praise.

Kim Jee Soo plays Geum Ae Yeon, a superwoman who, after divorcing Ji Jin Hee, has gone through countless hardships, and raised her children while living in a small room of a gukbap restaurant. She was able to endure those times thanks to her daughter, Byun Mi Rae (Son Na Eun), who had to mature early. When her daughter said, "I'll grow up fast and become your Wonder Woman," it made Geum Ae Yeon feel deeply sorry and gave her strength. Now working as a food sampler at a supermarket, Ae Yeon supports her family both inside and out. Just as her life stabilizes, her ex-husband Ji Jin Hee reappears.  

 

 

 

Son Na Eun plays Byun Mi Rae. When her family lost their store and home, due to her father's business failure, she resolved to do anything to restore her family's normalcy. Always cherishing her mother, her Wonder Woman, she decided it was her turn to become her mother's Wonder Woman. She now works as a food team MD at a supermarket to support her family. When her father returns after 11 years, Son Na Eun plans to vividly remind Moo Jin how foolish and unrealistic his dream of family reunion is.

Choi Min Ho plays Nam Tae Pyung, a former national team taekwondo instructor and a security guard at a supermarket. Actually, he hides his identity as the son of J Plus Mart's president, considers the chaebol status to be his father's standing and manages his own affairs well. However, his secret identity is discovered by Son Na Eun.

 

 

 

Yoon San Ha plays Byun Hyun Jae, the only one who welcomes the return of Byun Moo Jin. At 23, Hyun Jae is the troublemaker of the family. Unlike his sister, who is cold towards Moo Jin, Hyun Jae is all for their parents' reunion.

 

 

The production team said, "Melo House explores the complex relationships between family [members] who sometimes love, sometimes resent, and sometimes feel sorry and pitiful [towards each other]. And at times, when they get sick of it all, they just want to live for themselves. It gives a look at family, a relationship that always puts one to the test. Minho portrays the role of Nam Tae Pyeong, a former national taekwondo player who is now a security guard at a large supermarket. Nam Tae Pyeong is actually the son of J Plus Mart’s CEO, but he thinks that having a chaebol father has nothing to do with him and lives his life independently.

 

 

Sanha plays Byun Mi Rae’s younger brother Byun Hyun Jae, who is 23 years old and the only family member who welcomes his dad Byun Moo Jin’s return. Unlike his older sister Mi Rae, who is extremely cold to Moo Jin, Hyun Jae wholeheartedly supports the reunion of his parents.

SHINee's Choi Min Ho, ASTRO's Yoon San Ha, and Son Na Eun will join main leads Ji Jin Hee and Kim Jee Soo in the newest JTBC K-drama.

 

On July 8, it was officially confirmed that Choi Min Ho, Yoon San Ha, and Son Na Eun will be part of the cast of the upcoming weekend JTBC K-drama Melo House. 

Melo House will tell the story of a family who got abandoned by the father when his business failed, returned after 14 years as a billionaire, and later came back to his wife and daughter. 

Director Kim Da Ye (Salon De Nabi) will work with writer Kim Young Yoon for the upcoming K-drama. The series will be produced by MI and SLL. 

Melo House will be part of JTBC's Saturday and Sunday K-drama timeslot. The first episode will premiere on August 10 at 10:30 PM KST. The K-drama will have a total of 12 episodes.

 

 

Ji Jin Hee will portray the role of Byun Moo Jin, the main lead of the play. He left his household after his business collapsed and after 14 years, he is now a billionaire and wants to reunite with his family. Kim Jee Soo on the other hand will portray the role of Geum Ae Yeon, the wife of Byun Moo Jin. 

Son Na Eun will play the role of Byun Mi Rae. She is the eldest daughter of Byun Moo Jin and Geum Ae Yeon. Her parents divorced when she was 18 years old and became the head of the household since then. She struggles in her work as an MD at a large mart.

Yoon San Ha on the other hand will portray the role of Byun Hyun Jae, the youngest son. He is the only person who welcomes his father when he decides to return to the family. He wants and supports the reunification of his parents. 

Lastly, Choi Min Ho will portray the role of Nam Tae Pyung. He is the owner's son of a large supermarket company. He hides his identity and currently works as the security guard of the mart and also as a Taekwondo coach.

Romance in the House is a melodrama where the father, who was cut off by his family 11 years ago due to his multiple business venture failures, returns as the owner of their building. He tries to win back his family, who still harbor resentment towards him. 

The first teaser begins with showing Ji Jin Hee (Byun Moo Jin) ambitiously planning to open a dumpling restaurant. His wife, Geum Ae Yeon (Kim Jee Soo), looks skeptical because he has failed in every business he's touched, yet Moo Jin, ignoring her doubts, is confident in his plan. 

 

 

 

 

However, he fails in the end. Frustrated once again by Moo Jin, Ae Yeon bursts out with anger and says, "The biggest mistake of my life was meeting Byun Moo Jin."  Eventually, Moo Jin is cut off not only by his wife but also by his daughter, Byun Mi Rae (Son Na Eun). 

For 11 years since then, Geum Ae Yeon and Byun Mi Rae have rebuilt their lives and managed well without Byun Moo Jin, but a new storm is on the horizon. Moo Jin, returns with Gatsby-level wealth and becomes the new owner of the villa building where they live.

His grand comeback is expected to disrupt the peaceful lives of Geum Ae Yeon and Byun Mi Rae. There's also the burning question about how he amassed his fortune.

Byun Moo Jin returns to reclaim his place as Geum Ae Yeon's husband. To achieve this, he appears before her morning and evening and showers her with praises and gifts. Romance in the House is a melodrama where the father, who was cut off by his family 11 years ago due to his multiple business venture failures, returns as the owner of their building. He tries to win back his family, who still harbor resentment towards him. 

The teaser is filled with the mystery of Byun Moo Jin, who turned peaceful Yongdong-dong upside down. Post eleven years, Moo Jin, who put his household in a desperate situation due to his multiple business failures, has returned as the new landlord of the villa where his ex-family lives.

Moreover, Ae Yeon, who thought Moo Jin was living off his older sister until last year, is shocked to learn that he became a nouveau riche and purchased the villa in full cash. Rumors about Moo Jin among the residents of the villa have grown rampant. Residents who think Moo Jin had so many failures in business do not believe he earned money through business and are betting on what made him filthy rich.

The remaining family members’ lives take a turn as he reappears in front of them after obtaining a sudden fortune.

The newly released poster, intriguingly rotated 90 degrees counterclockwise, vividly captures the familial love triangle. JTBC’s “Romance in The House” is gearing up for its premiere with behind-the-scenes looks from the drama’s script reading!

On July 17, JTBC shared photos and footage from their script reading session. In addition to director Kim Da Ye and scriptwriter Kim Young Yoon, actors Ji Jin Hee, Kim Ji Soo, Son Naeun, SHINee’s Minho, ASTRO’s Sanha, and more attended the script reading.

Ji Jin Hee plays the role of Byun Moo Jin, who returns to his family after 11 years while keeping a secret. He fully embraced the character with his distinctive acting skills, adding a profound charm that captivated the audience with Moo Jin’s rugged, macho persona. Additionally, he subtly conveyed the mystery surrounding Moo Jin, who suddenly appears as the building’s owner, creating a compelling presence.

 

 

Kim Ji Soo plays Geum Ae Yeon, who is ardently courted by Moo Jin. Kim Ji Soo shared her thoughts, saying, “‘Romance in the House’ is a special and meaningful project.” She portrayed Ae Yeon with a masterful balance of emotions, showing how her peace is shattered and life thrown into chaos by the return of her ex-husband Moo Jin, who is now the building owner. A new teaser is out for JTBC’s upcoming Romance in the House (previously Family x Melo), with the once hapless Ji Jin-hee (D.P. 2) proving that he must have been good-for-something after all, now that he’s returned with newfound success to win back his family and wife Kim Ji-soo (High Class).

Opening with Geum Ae-yeon (Kim Ji-soo) taking in the shocking news, we read in the animated captions that her, “Nouveau-riche ex-husband has returned as the building owner.” And he bought the villa with 100% cash! But Ae-yeon finds all this hard to believe when the accursed Byun Mu-jin (Ji Jin-hee) was supposedly still living at his older sister’s house, at least until last year.

 

 

As the Bond-esque music ramps up in the background, the rumors and bets start flying among the building tenants, because how exactly did Mu-jin come by his sudden wealth? As unit 202’s Kim Do-hyun (Queen of Tears) puts it – and the captions agree – that something smells fishy. Although Mu-jin meets with the residents to explain why he bought the villa, it’s not enough to reassure suspicions.

Adding to the mystery, son Yoon San-ha (Crazy Love) finds something odd in Mu-jin’s closet while daughter Sohn Na-eun (Agency) fumes, and basement tenant Kim Ki-chun (Chicken Nugget) cryptically reveals that, “I saw the new building owner, that day.” Sensing danger, we also see Taekwondo instructor (and local mart security guard + secret chaebol) Min-ho (The Fabulous) come to Ae-yeon’s rescue.

But our frustrated hero feels wrongly accused, defending that, “They don’t even know the extent of what I went through in order to get to this place!” In the sequence, we see what must be more red herrings, with a glimpse of Mu-jin’s tattooed arm and then a sequin-clad Mu-jin fighting in a club. The teaser then ends with Ae-yeon demanding to know Mu-jin’s real identity.

Directed by PD Kim Da-ye with scripts by Kim Young-yoon, JTBC’s Romance in the House will be following Miss Night and Day in the weekend slot, premiering on August 10.

Romance in the House is a melodrama where the father, who was cut off by his family 11 years ago due to his multiple business venture failures, returns as the owner of their building. He tries to win back his family, who still harbor resentment towards him. 

Moo Jin (Ji Jin Hee) and Ae Yeon (Kim Jee Soo) are divorced. 11 years ago, Moo Jin, who had repeatedly failed in business, ended up losing everything, including their house and store, leading Ae Yeon to file for divorce. After walking their separate paths, the two meet again after 11 years. Unlike in the past, Moo Jin is now an immensely wealthy man. He comes before Ae Yeon to reclaim his position as a husband and father.

Moo Jin, for whom Ae Yeon is the one and only woman in his life, is determined to do everything in his power to reunite the family. Buying the villa where she lives and moving into the apartment above her is just the beginning. He strives to make a good impression in the neighborhood with his wealth, appears wherever Ae Yeon is, and showers her with praise like "You look beautiful today too?"

However, no matter how much Moo Jin tries, Ae Yeon remains indifferent. Having been fooled by him in the past, no sweet words convince her. The stills also show Ae Yeon wearing a stern expression, firmly rejecting Moo Jin. 

 

 

 

Whether Ae Yeon's stubbornness will eventually break down in the face of Moo Jin's relentless efforts is anticipated to be a key point of interest in Romance in the House.

The lead poster for the next weekend drama “Romance in the House” on JTBC has been made public.The drama is written by Kim Young Yoon, known for “My Secret Romance,” and directed by Kim Da Ye of “My ID Is Gangnam Beauty.” The story centers on Byun Moo Jin (played by Ji Jin Hee), who, after losing his wealth due to multiple business failures, was estranged from his family for 11 years. The family love triangle is beautifully depicted in the recently released poster, which is interestingly flipped 90 degrees anticlockwise.
