Kim Soo Hyun may be gearing up for his next acting project!

On March 21, OSEN reported that Kim Soo Hyun is positively in talks to star in the upcoming series “Knock Off” (working title), which will be helmed by “Forest of Secrets 2” (“Stranger 2”) director Park Hyun Suk.

In response to the report, a representative of Kim Soo Hyun’s agency GOLDMEDALIST shared, “Kim Soo Hyun is positively in talks to star in ‘Knock Off.'”

A source from the production company further revealed that Kim Soo Hyun is in talks to play the leading role and that the broadcast channel and platform are still under discussion. According to the reports, “Knock Off” is a new black comedy series, and it is in talks to broadcast through an OTT (over-the-top) platform.

Currently, Kim Soo Hyun is captivating fans through tvN’s weekend drama “Queen of Tears,” which recently broke into double-digit ratings and swept the buzzworthy drama and actor rankings.

Breaking his three-year hiatus to record sky-high viewership ratings alongside Kim Ji Won, Kim Soo Hyun's star status has won the crowd yet again with his latest offering, Queen of Tears. The rom-com project premiered earlier this month on March 9, but he's already eyeing his next OTT hit.

According to South Korean media outlet OSEN's March 21 report, Kim Soo Hyun is positively reviewing the offer to lead the upcoming series Knock Off (working title). The big award-winning hit Stranger Season 2 (also known as Forest of Secrets 2) director Park Hyun Suk will be helming the project in development. The 36-year-old actor's agency, Goldmedalist, revealed that the It's Okay to Not Be Okay star was “positively in talks to star in Knock Off.”

Kim Soo Hyun is reportedly attached to the series' protagonist role. Broadcast channels and streaming platforms are still being considered. Park Hyun Suk's directorial is touted as a black comedy series and has been listed as an OTT premiere at the moment.

Production banners Arc Media and SLL, known for their global-charting offerings such as Big Bet, The King's Affection, Not Others and High Cookie, are behind the series' advancement.

On May 1, media outlet MK Sports shared an exclusive report revealing that actor Yoo Jae Myung is the next artist confirmed to join the upcoming Disney+ original K-drama Knock Off. 

Knock Off will be Yoo Jae Myung's third Disney+ K-drama since his debut. He was also part of the Disney+ original series Grid and the upcoming K-drama Uncle Samsik. 

Yoo Jae Myung is booked and busy with various K-dramas and films. The actor will star in the upcoming K-dramas No Way Out, The Good Man, Uncle Samsik, Love Me, and Country and Nation. He will also join the cast of the upcoming movies Finding the King, Portrait of a Family, CSAT: Secret of Exam Questions, The Land of Happiness, Harbin, and Season of You and Me.

The brilliant actor is known for being part of the hit K-dramas such as Vincenzo, Itaewon Class, Prison Playbook, Stranger, Strong Woman Do Bong Soon, Reply 1988, and more.

The upcoming K-drama will be the collaboration work of director Park Hyun Suk (Uncontrollably Fond and Stranger Season 2) and writer Han Jung Hoon. SLL and Arc Media will produce the upcoming series. 

 

 

According to reports, Jo Woo Jin, Lee Jung Eun, Kim Eui Sung, Kang Mal Geum, Kim Hye Eun, and Jung Man Shik will be the supporting roles in the series while Kim Soo Hyun, Jo Bo Ah, and Kim Shi Eun will be the main leads.

Lee Jung Eun will play the role of Park Ae Ja, Jo Woo Jin will be Baek Jong Min, Kim Eui Sung will play as Bae Pil Gu, Kang Mal Geum be Jegal Hyun Sook in the series, and Kim Hye Eun will portray the character named Jang Ji Soo.

Many are already anticipating this upcoming K-drama because it will star the highest-paid South Korean actor Kim Soo Hyun and house several brilliant supporting actors that will surely make the K-drama worth watching. 

Knock Off will reportedly be released through an OTT platform. There is no official confirmation yet on the premiere date and filming schedule of the upcoming series Knock Off.

Choi Gyu Ri, the actress from Marry My Husband, is making waves in K-town. In the upcoming series Knock Off, she has been cast as the sister of star actor Kim Soo Hyun. Choi Gyu Ri will portray Kim Seong Hee, the younger sister of Kim Sejong Joon, played by Kim Soo Hyun. Kim’s central character will lead the narrative as a key figure in the counterfeit market.

According to Ten Asia's report, Choi Gyu Ri is set to star in the upcoming drama Knock Off (working title). This black comedy is set during the 1997 foreign exchange crisis (IMF crisis) through the early 2000s and revolves around various stories based on counterfeit luxury goods. The drama is directed by Park Hyun Seok, known for directing Season 2 of the tvN drama Secret Forest, and is co-produced by SLL and Arc Media. Broadcasting channels and platforms are currently under negotiation.

 

Meanwhile, Choi Gyu Ri gained recognition for her role as Yoo Hee Yeon in tvN's Marry My Husband. She played an employee of U&K Food Marketing Team 1 and the half-sister of Yoo Ji Hyeol portrayed by Na In Woo. Marry My Husband made history as the first Korean drama to top the global daily TV show rankings on Amazon Prime Video, one of the world's largest OTT platforms, marking a significant milestone for Korean dramas. As a result, Choi Gyu Ri's popularity has soared. As of May 23, her number of SNS followers has surged from 2,000 before the show to over 900,000. Choi Gyu Ri is anticipated to solidify her status as a rising star, transitioning from playing Na In Woo's younger sister in Marry My Husband to portraying Kim Soo Hyun's younger sister in Knock Off.

 

Choi Gyu Ri is a South Korean actress born on July 19, 2000. A native of Busan, she attended the city's International Foreign Language High School. It was during these early years she discovered her passion for acting through the school's creative theater department. Her interest in an acting career was sparked by the popularity of the series Reply 1988 when she was in the third grade. With the support of her parents, she decided to pursue acting professionally and dropped out of school. At 19, she moved from Busan to Seoul to prepare for her entrance exam at an academy, subsequently gaining admission to the acting department of the Korea National University of Arts, where she plans to graduate in the second semester of 2025.

Choi Gyu Ri began her career in short films before making her television debut in 2021 with a role in the TV series Chosun Uncle, where she played Shin Chae Young, the brilliant daughter of one of the protagonists, Park Hye Ryeong. According to News1 on the 13th, Kim Mooyeol will appear in the new drama Knockoff. Knockoff tells the story of an ordinary man, Kim Sungjoon (played by Kim Soohyun), who loses his job during the IMF crisis and enters the counterfeit business at the end of the 20th century. He eventually becomes a global counterfeit king in the 21st century.

 

Kim Mooyeol became a top actor this April with the movie The Roundup: No Way Out, which attracted over 10 million viewers. He captivated audiences as the main villain Baek Changgi and is set to appear in the new Disney+ series No Way Out: The Roulette on the 31st.

On July 12, Korean media outlet Star News reported that Kwon Nara has bagged a pivotal role in the upcoming drama Knock Off. She is set to play the role of Moon Yoo Bin, a young woman who starts making and selling counterfeit goods with her brother. 

She becomes the mentee of Kim Sung Joon, who helps her experience the real taste of money. Moon Yoo Bin is the kind of woman who relentlessly works to achieve her dreams and believes in the power of good thoughts and attitude towards work.

 

Knock Off is an upcoming black comedy drama that promises the capture a realistic image of the 1997 financial crisis in South Korea, also known as IMF. Kim Soo Hyun, who recently led the explosively successful tvN rom-com Queen of Tears will headline this new drama. 

 

He is set to play Kim Sung Joon, a strong character who entered the counterfeit market during the 20th-century financial crisis. Using the situation to his benefit, he soon rose as the king of the fake goods market.

Joining the cast is Jo Bo Ah, who will embody the character of Kim Sung Joon’s first love. She works as a custom officer, adding an interesting dynamic to the storyline.

Actress Kwon Na Ra is reported to be joining the cast of the Disney+ drama Knock Off.

An exclusive report by Star News states Kwon Na Ra will be appearing in the new Disney+ drama Knock Off, for which Kim Soo Hyun and Jo Bo Ah have also received casting offers. Kwon Na Ra's agency is yet to give an official statement. 

 

 

Knock Off tells the story of Kim Seong Jun (role offered to Kim Soo Hyun), an ordinary man who lost his job during the IMF crisis, jumping into the business of counterfeit goods. He then goes on to become the king of fake luxury goods worldwide.

Kwon Na Ra reportedly has been offered to play the role of Moon Yoo Bin, who makes and sells counterfeit goods with her younger brother. After being scouted by Kim Seong Jun, she gets to experience the sweet taste of money. She is a character who believes in her dreams and efforts, and in the power of positive thoughts and mindset.

The series is directed by Park Hyun Suk, acclaimed for Song of the Bandits, Stranger Season 2, and  Uncontrollably Fond. The script is written by Han Jung Hoon, famous for penning the Bad Guys series, Vampire Prosecutor, and Song of the Bandits. Production is undertaken by SLL and Arc Media.

Woo Do Hwan has joined the star-studded lineup of potential cast members for the upcoming drama “Knock Off” (working title)!

On July 15, Star News reported that Woo Do Hwan will star in the new Disney+ original series “Knock Off.”

In response to the report, Woo Do Hwan’s agency Blitzway Studios shared, “Woo Do Hwan has received an offer for a special appearance in the new drama ‘Knock-Off’ and is currently reviewing it.”

“Knock-Off” follows the story of Kim Sung Joon (Kim Soo Hyun), an ordinary man who loses his job during the IMF crisis. He later ventures into the counterfeit goods business at the end of the 20th century, ultimately rising to become the global king of counterfeits in the 21st century.

Reportedly, Woo Do Hwan will portray Lee Min Seok, Kim Sung Joon’s high school friend and the CEO of Korea’s largest portal site, who first suggests Kim Sung Joon enter the counterfeit goods business. However, Woo Do Hwan’s agency commented that the specifics of his character are still under discussion.

In addition to Woo Do Hwan, Kim Soo Hyun, Jo Bo Ah, Kim Si Eun, Yoo Jae Myung, Go Kyu Pil, and Lee Jung Eun are in talks to star in the drama. Kwon Nara and Kim Moo Yeol were also reported to be in discussions for the drama, but their representatives have yet to comment on the reports.
