Super Junior’s Choi Siwon and Jung In Sun may be starring in a new drama together!

On November 30, DongA.com reported that Choi Siwon and Jung In Sun received casting offers for the new drama “DNA Lover” (literal title).

In response to the report, Choi Siwon’s agency SM Entertainment and Jung In Sun’s agency H& Entertainment each shared, “The actor received an offer [to star in the drama ‘DNA Lover’] and is currently reviewing the offer.”

“DNA Lover” is a romantic comedy in which Han So Jin, a genetic researcher who has numerous failed relationships, searches for her destined partner through genes.

Super Junior's Choi Si Won and actress Jung In Sun received the offer to lead a new romantic comedy K-drama from TV Chosun.

On November 30, media outlets shared that Choi Si Won and Jung In Sun will be working together for the upcoming TV Chosun K-drama titled DNA Lover. 

The upcoming K-drama will tell the romance story of a genetic researcher who always ends up in failed relationships, and tries to look for her destined partner through genes. 

Choi Si Won and Jung Sung In's agencies both responded to the casting reports. 

According to SM Entertainment, "Choi Si Won did receive the offer to be the male lead of the new TV Chosun K-drama and he is currently reviewing it." 

H& Entertainment also shared their side and stated, "Jung In Sun is positively reviewing the proposal to be the female lead of the new K-drama from TV Chosun."

Choi Si Won got the offer to play the role of Shim Yeon Woo, a handsome obstetrician who rejects all fatalities. Jung In Sun on the other hand received the offer to star as Han So Jin, a genetic researcher who wants to look for her destined partner through genes. 

There is no official confirmation yet on the airing date of the upcoming K-drama DNA Lover.
 

 

Before Choi Si Won stars in DNA Lover, the idol actor will first make a special appearance in the soon-to-air K-drama Death's Game led by Seo In Guk, Park So Dam, Go Youn Jung, Kim Ji Hoon, and Nam Kyung Eup. Choi Si Won is also actively participating in all the Super Junior group activities.

Lee Tae Hwan may be joining the upcoming drama “DNA Lover” (literal title) as his first project after completing military service!

On January 24, Lee Tae Hwan’s agency Man of Creation shared, “Lee Tae Hwan has received an offer to star in the new drama ‘DNA Lover’ and is currently positively reviewing the offer.”

“DNA Lover” is a romantic comedy that follows the story of Han So Jin, a genetic researcher who has numerous failed relationships, as she searches for her destined partner through genes.

Previously in November, Jung In Sun and Choi Siwon were revealed to be in talks for the drama. Last week in January, multi-content studio Higround unveiled its 2024 production lineup, confirming Jung In Sun and Choi Siwon as the main leads.

Reportedly, Jung In Sun will play the role of Han So Jin while Choi Siwon is set to portray Shim Yeon Woo, a handsome gynecologist who is quick to break up with those who become obsessed with him because he does not believe in marriage nor fate.

Lee Tae Hwan has been reportedly offered the role of Seo Kang Hoon, a firefighter entangled in a love triangle with Han So Jin and Shim Yeon Woo.

The cast lineup for TV Chosun’s upcoming drama “DNA Lover” (literal title) has been confirmed!

As previously reported, Choi Siwon, Jung In Sun, Lee Tae Hwan, and Jung Yoo Jin will be starring in the new weekend romantic comedy drama, set to premiere in June.

Directed by Sung Chi Wook of “Tomorrow” and written by Jung Soo Mi of “Born Again,” “DNA Lover” is a romantic comedy that follows the story of Han So Jin, a genetic researcher who has numerous failed relationships, as she searches for her destined partner through genes.

Choi Siwon takes on the role of Shim Yeon Woo, a highly talented and sensitive obstetrician. The upcoming K-drama DNA Lover reveals its official main leads.

On April 8, TV Chosun announced that Jung In Sun, Super Junior's Choi Si Won, Lee Tae Hwan, and Jung Eugene will lead the upcoming weekend K-drama  DNA Lover. 

The upcoming K-drama DNA Lover will tell the romance story of a genetic researcher who always ends up in failed relationships, and tries to look for her destined partner through genes.

Director Sung Chi Wook (Tomorrow and Kairos) and writer Jung Soo Mi (Born Again) will collaborate to create the romantic comedy K-drama.

The production team of the K-drama shared, "Please look forward to the great performance of the four actors in DNA Lover. The story will include elements like romantic comedy, family, healing, mystery, and more that are suitable for all genders and ages. 

DNA Lover will officially premiere in June. It will have a total of 16 episodes. 

 

 

Jung In Sun will portray the role of Han So Jin. She is a researcher at the Beneficial Gene Center. She is obsessed with finding a partner that has the best genetic match with her. This will be her comeback K-drama after almost three years. 

Choi Si Won will portray the role of an obstetrician and gynecologist at Shim Hospital named Shim Yeon Woo. He always wins the hearts of women but when his partner becomes obsessed or controlling over him, he ends the relationship abruptly. This will be the first K-drama of Choi Si Won for 2024. He was last seen in the TVING K-drama Death's Game where he made a special cameo appearance. 

Meanwhile, this K-drama will be Lee Tae Hwan's grand comeback after he was discharged from the military. In the series, he will play the role of  Seo Kang Hoon. He is a good-looking firefighter whose top priority is Han So Jin. If Han So Jin calls him, he will answer it within a second. 

Lastly, Jung Eugene will portray the role of Jang Mi Eun. She was the ex-girlfriend of Shim Yeon Woo. She currently works as a columnist. Aside from this upcoming K-drama, Jung Eugene will also star in the upcoming films A Desperate Pursuit and Boss.

Actress-comedienne Jung Yi Rang is confirmed to star in her second K-drama for 2024.

On April 19, Jung Yi Rang's agency announced that Jung Yi Rang would join the upcoming TV Chosun K-drama DNA Lover cast. 

This will be her second K-drama for the year. Early this year, Jung Yi Rang also starred in the K-drama Branding in Seongsu. She worked alongside Kim Ji Eun, Lomon, Yang Hye Ji, Kim Ho Young, and Ahn Yun Hong. 

Aside from the upcoming K-drama, Jung Yi Rang will also join the upcoming movie It's Okay to Just Breathe Next to You which will be led by Kim Hyang Gi, Ahn Dong Goo, and Giriboy. 

She is currently a regular member of the Coupang Play variety program Saturday Night Live Korea Season 14 and Same Bed, Different Dreams Season 2: You Are My Destiny.

Super Junior’s Choi Siwon takes on the role of Shim Yeon Woo, a highly talented and sensitive obstetrician who excels at social intelligence and always wins women’s hearts, while Jung In Sun portrays Han So Jin, a researcher who is obsessed with finding the perfect genetic match.

The newly released teaser is brimming with colorful visual effects and enchanting illustrations that captivate viewers during its entire 30 seconds.

The clip kicks off with showing Han So Jin’s home where one side of the wall is filled with DNA-related content and information. Then, Han So Jin narrates, “Our genes are engraved with the perfect match that we’ll spend the rest of our lives with. I call that perfect match a DNA lover.”

The teaser goes on to portray Han So Jin and Shim Yeon Woo together. What if love is written not in the stars, but in our genes? TV Chosun’s romantic comedy DNA Lover has released its first teaser, showcasing the rose-tinted research of our romantic scientist and the ideal man she dreams of.

Jung In-sun (Grand Shining Hotel) stars as the gene researcher Han So-jin, who opens our teaser with a dreamy proclamation: her perfect match, who will stay by her side forever, is engraved into her genes. So-jin’s so dedicated to her vision that she’s turned her entire bedroom window into a research board, complete with bright colors and whimsical doodles reminiscent of a middle school art project.

 

To find her so-called “DNA lover,” So-jin develops an app to facilitate connections between genetically-destined lovers. In the process, she crosses paths with the OB-GYN Shim Yeon-woo, played by Choi Siwon (Death’s Game). Despite his exceptional social skills that earn him no shortage of admirers, Yeon-woo has a firm boundary he refuses to let anyone cross. The moment his beau acts obsessively possessive, or attempts to bend him to their will, he dumps her without a moment’s hesitation.

That might spell bad news for the geeky So-jin and her image of the perfect sweetheart, but our heroine is driven by an earnest determination. “Welcome to Han So-jin’s experiment world!” she squeals in delight, even as a devastated Yeon-woo wails over the jigsaw puzzle she just ruined. Whoops. Still, in spite of their differences, the serene Yeon-woo can’t help but feel drawn to So-jin’s bubbly energy. Perhaps the secret to romantic destiny really does lie in one’s DNA after all.

Apart from our scientifically-proven match, we also have second leads to twist up the love lines. Lee Tae-hwan (Thirty-Nine) plays the flower boy firefighter Seo Kang-hoon, who holds So-jin as his number one priority. The moment she calls, he’s dropping everything to answer instantly. On the contrary, Yeon-woo’s ex-lover Jang Mi-eun — played by Jung Yoo-jin (Celebrity) — approaches romance with an open mind and a free spirit, which she imbues into her polyamory advice column. “A woman who expects everything from only one man is bound to get hurt,” Mi-eun declares. Helmed by Sung Chi Wook of “Tomorrow” and written by Jung Soo Mi of “Born Again,” “DNA Lover” is a romantic comedy that follows the story of Han So Jin (Jung In Sun), a genetic researcher who has numerous failed relationships, as she searches for her destined partner through genes. Choi Siwon takes on the role of Shim Yeon Woo, a highly talented and sensitive obstetrician who excels at social intelligence and always wins women’s hearts.

 

The teaser begins with a captivating narration: “DNA is a navigation tool that helps you find a lover.” It poses the question, “Who is my destined partner?” Scenes introduce Shim Yeon Woo, celebrated for his romantic prowess. Han So Jin can be also heard reflecting, “My experiment might seem unconventional, but I believe in finding a genetic match.”

Upcoming drama “DNA Lover” has unveiled the main poster featuring its four main characters!

Choi Siwon takes on the role of Shim Yeon Woo, a highly talented and sensitive obstetrician who excels at social intelligence and always wins women’s hearts.

The newly released poster captures Shim Yeon Woo, Han So Jin, Seo Kang Hoon (Lee Tae Hwan), and Jang Mi Eun (Jung Yoo Jin) seated on a heart-shaped DNA structure, posing confidently as if they understand the intriguing fate determined by DNA. The caption at the top boldly declares, “Destiny? Love? DNA knows them all!”

Yeon Woo stands out with his confident demeanor, with his chin resting in his hand, while So Jin radiates freshness with a bright smile and crossed arms. Kang Hoon brings energy with his striking physique, and Mi Eun complements the scene, standing behind the group and wearing feminine attire.

TV CHOSUN's new weekend drama DNA Lover dropped stills featuring Choi Si Won.

DNA Lover follows genetic researcher Han So Jin, who strives to find her match through genetics. 

In the K-drama, Choi Si Won plays Choi Si Won takes on the role of Shim Yeon Woo, an obstetrician-gynecologist whose social intelligence is higher than his IQ and EQ. Shim is infinitely kind to pregnant women and babies and is equipped with medical skills and paternal affection. 

The stills show Shim Yeon Woo treating patients and conversing with nurses at the hospital. He is also kind to his fellow doctors and nurses, and during patient consultations, he appears deep in thought. 

 

 

DNA Lover will premiere on August 17. The K-drama will be streaming on Viki.

Super Junior’s Choi Siwon takes on the role of Shim Yeon Woo, a highly talented and sensitive obstetrician who excels at social intelligence and always wins women’s hearts. While Yeon Woo excels at social intelligence and always wins women’s hearts, he swiftly ends relationships when his partner becomes too possessive or controlling.

In the released stills, Shim Yeon Woo is seen treating patients and talking with nurses at the hospital. While he is shown smiling brightly at his fellow doctors and nurses, he looks troubled while examining patients in his doctor’s coat. Viewers’ attention is focused on what kind of character Shim Yeon Woo will turn out to be.
