Set in the ’70s, ‘Made In Korea’ is billed by Disney+ as a crime thriller revolving around the tumultuous lives of Kitae, a man with ambitious goals for wealth and power, and Geonyoung, a prosecutor that stands in his way. Constantly butting heads, the duo find themselves in an era-defining incident that will change both their lives. Who’s in the cast of the upcoming Disney+ K-drama? Disney+ announced on August 30 in a press statement that Crash Landing On You actor Hyun Bin will star as Kitae, while 12.12: The Day’s Jung Woo-sung has been cast opposite him as Geonyoung. Other cast members have yet to be revealed at the time of writing. ‘Made In Korea’ is written by Sea of Tranquility screenwriter Park Eun-kyo and directed by Woo Min-ho, who previously directed acclaimed series such as ‘The Man Standing Next’ and ‘Inside Men’. Will It Take Hollywood on 12.12? 2024.09.04. 2:50 PM [EDAILY] The 10 million-viewer film 'Spring of Seoul' starring Hwang Jung-min and Jung Woo-sung has been selected as the Korean entry for the 97th Academy Awards International Feature Film category. According to the Korean Film Council on the 4th, 'Spring of Seoul' was unanimously selected as the Korean entry for the 97th Academy Awards International Feature Film category. The jury stated the reason for the selection, "There was almost no disagreement about the film's perfection in that it evenly encompasses the film's dramatic fun in dealing with tension, the directing ability that maximizes the actors' acting feast into the realm of mise-en-scène, and its outstanding insight into history." They also added, "We hope that the film's portrayal of the illusion of charisma and the caricature of evil will be sought as a timely metaphor for the film's thematic aspect and will be nominated for the Academy Award." 'Spring of Seoul' is a film depicting the 12/12 military rebellion that shook South Korea in 1979, and stars Hwang Jung-min and Jung Woo-sung. It was invited to major overseas film festivals such as the 23rd New York Asian Film Festival and the 26th Udine Far East Film Festival. It was released in Korea in November last year and surpassed 10 million viewers in about a month, and was a box office success, mobilizing over 13 million viewers in the end. The 97th Academy Awards ceremony is scheduled to be held in March of next year. Whether or not 'Spring in Seoul', which is being submitted this time, will be selected as a preliminary candidate will be confirmed at the end of this year.
