one of my folders completely died!

please help me! desperate!

what the heck just happened?!?!

i use my portable hard drive to move files back and forth.

i also use it to back up my memory.

i used it on my mac from a few years ago because my school lent it to me.

today i tried to open the folder and at first, all the folders were written in random letters!

then my harddrive asked me if i wanted to 'fix' the harddrive.

i said ok, it processed.

NOW its some random file that can't be opened!

im really scared, i had a ton of things on that!!!!!!!!! OMFG

what do i do PLEASE HELP!

also, everything else on the harddrive is fine.

i use windows vista at this point.

here is a photo, the folder is 'all sara's stuff'.

it's just WHITE!!

Make sure you don't add any new files on the drive since if the files were accidently deleted by Windows, and the missing files free space is rewritten by new files then it will be almost impossible for you to recover the files.

Try another computer to see if you can open the folder.

If that does not work, then you can try using Recuva http://www.piriform.com/recuva and running a scan on your drive to see if Recuva can recover any of your files.
