New JYP Nation publicity photos. I think a couple were posted earlier; here are some more.

Too bad these are watermarked too. If anyone finds a 'clean' set, please post then or leave a note.

I am sure they are available somewhere online.

For identification purposes, the 'mafia' snapshot is without the JYP Nation concert letterings.

WG, 2PM mobilized on Xmas Eve

Ming Pao 2010-12-26 Saunday 05:05

(Ming Pao news) On Xmas Eve, Korean music producer Park Jin Young launched an all-out blitz with his JYP Entertainment troops. Except for 2AM's show at Korea University, the others held a parallel family concert at the Seoul Olympic Park Gymnastics Arena. WONDERGIRLS & their hoobaes missA performed together. 2PM also deviated from their beastly image by donning cartoon suits to spoof their hoobaes' song.

JYP holds family concert; RAIN is the mystery guest

Wen Wei Po 2010-12-26

JYP Entertainment held their 1st family concert the other day at the Seoul Olympic Park Gymnastics Arena. 2AM was unable to attend, due to their own concert. But other company artistes like WONDERGIRLS, 2PM, missA, San E, & even Park Jin Young all took part.

They would enthusiastically run through a total of 27 songs during the night. Besides WONDERGIRLS & 2PM who sang their classics '2 Different Tears' & 'I Hate You' respectively,  the other songs were performed 'crossover' style by the artistes.  For example, WONDERGIRLS members Yeeun, Yoobin, Sohee & Sunye joined missA members FEI & JIA for a female version of 2PM's 'Heartbeat'. With 2PM's help, the girls successfully formed the challenging pyramid formation. As well, 2PM's Nichkhun, Junho & Taecyeon joined Park Jin Young for missA's 'Bad Girl Good Girl'. They replicated the dance steps in entirety & flirted like missA too, prompting excited screams from the fans.

Still, the climax of the evening was the appearance of former JYPE artiste RAIN. He & mentor Park Jin Young performed 'I Have A Girl' & 'It's Raining' [sic] together. Park Jin Young was emotional: "Without RAIN, I don't think JYPE could have the artistes we have today." He also lauded RAIN's work ethic during his apprenticeship & also his subsequent achievements. For the encore, all the artistes donned Xmas costumes to wrap up the concert with their latest seasonal single 'This Christmas'.

WG impersonates 2PM for the latter's hit song

The Sun (HK) 2010-12-26

Source: http://the-sun.on.cc/cnt/entertainment/20101226/00476_002.html

Popular Korean girlgroup WONDERGIRLS (WG) joined mentor Park Jin Young & fellow disciples like 2PM for a JYPE concert on Xmas Eve. Everyone changed gender roles to perform the various hit songs. WG & missA members donned 2PM's costumes to dance to 'Heartbeat'. 2PM & Park Jin Young wore 'leotards' & shook their bon-bons a la missA during a hilarious item.

Former JYPE artiste RAIN turned out to be the surprise guest performer, drawing delighted gasps from the 12,000 crowd. He & 2PM performed together; it reminded him of his trainee days. The show concluded with all the artistes donning Xmas costumes for their recently-released song 'This Christmas'.

RAIN's surprise appearance electrifies the audience

Oriental Daily 2010-12-26 15:00

WONDERGIRLS of 'Nobody' fame in Asia joined 2PM [& others] for a JYPE concert to welcome Xmas. Everyone changed gender roles to perform the various hit songs. RAIN also made a delightful appearance.

Park Jin Young's company held a 'JYP Nation TeamPlay' concert on Xmas Eve. WG, 2PM, missA & others all turned out at full strength.

Singing each other's hits

During the 3-hour show, the artistes got to perform their counterparts' hit songs in 'crossover' style. WG & missA members donned 2PM's costumes to dance to 'Heartbeat'; they also formed the pyramid formation per the original. WG member Yoobin even made to 'step' on a prone 2PM Chansung. Led by Park Jin Young, 2PM wore 'leotards' to turn missA's debut song 'Bad Girl Good Girl' into 'Bad Boy Good Boy', with exaggerated antics to boot.

Supportive of the younger generation

The concert's guest performers were originally withheld from public knowledge. So when former JYP artistes RAIN & g.o.d. members So Ho Young & Kim Tae Woo made their surprise appearances, the 12,000 crowd went mad with joy. RAIN & 2PM performed 'It's Raining' together; he said the team up with the younger generation reminded him of his trainee days. The show concluded with all the artistes donning Xmas costumes for their recently-released song 'This Christmas'.

Park Jin Young was involved in 2 concerts that evening. His own solo show began at 11pm, during which he performed many suggestive dances with female models.

WG Q&A interview with Yahoo! Music Hong Kong (8 minutes).

Looks like it was filmed when they were there.

LIM began in Cantonese (basic greeting to fans), then the conversation drifted to Korean (according to the subtitles: Yeeun explained why WG is not tired of 'Nobody', Sohee then gave tips on how to perform the dance).

The last 6.5 minutes are in English.

Youtube also has a 4-second clip of WG's video message at Yahoo Buzz Awards (possibly accepting their award, or maybe just a greeting).

A photo of WONDERGIRLS Sunye & LIM has become a talking point.

Sunye recently tweeted a selca of her & LIM smiling. LIM was grinning giddily; Sunye was smirking. The picture attracted a lot of attention. It was taken before the JYP Nation concert on December 24, & is a testament to the deep friendship among the WONDERGIRLS members. Since they are always busy with overseas activities, their relationship has become more treasured than ever. Netizens who saw the the photo said: "Sunye & LIM look so alike." The superstars are coming on December 29

Harbin Daily (Evening Edition) 2010-12-26

On December 29, there will be a formidable lineup of stars for the New Year concert to be held at the Harbin Conference Exhibition & Sports Center. Yesterday, our reporter managed to obtain the concert lineup & its programs. Which stars are coming, & what they do have in store for the audience? Here is our exclusive info.

By reporter Zhang Lei.

[skipped to WG portion.]

WONDERGIRLS - live version of 'Nobody' an unmissable treat

'Nobody' was popular for the whole of last year. The quintet's classic dance was also a must for year-end evening  parties. Korea is teeming with celebrities, but none could yet match WONDERGIRLS's renown in all of Asia to as far away as North America. Liang Wendao (famous TV host of Hong Kong-based Phoenix TV) even wrote in an article how he immediately associated Korea with WONDERGIRLS. Their impact is self-evident.

The WONDERGIRLS members were all talent-scouted. Group member temporarily left to pursue her studies this past February, with new member LIM added in. WONDERGIRLS will perform their classic songs 'Nobody' & 'Tell Me'. Are there any changes with the new lineup? How splendid is the live version of 'Nobody'? Head on down & find out yourself.

Translated sub-headings for the other concert performers.

■ Ashin - trendiest rock 'n' roll.

■ Valen Hsu - Valen's melodious 'comeback'.

■ Li Jian - a different version of 'Legend' than Faye Wong's.

■ Karen Mok - hear her sing & recall her films.

■ Jonathan Li - 1990s-era flavor.

■ Fei Yu Qing - taking a wilder approach.

■ Lu Chen - biggest mystery (he's a magician whom WG is familiar from the Shanghai BAZAAR Charity Night this year).

JYP artistes gather together for a grand concert on Xmas Eve

QQ Entertainment 2010-12-27 13:54

2010 is about to end. During this transition period to a new year, Korea naturally hosts many events to mark the occasion, befitting its status as one of Asia's top entertainment places. Previously, SM Entertainment had copied Japan's Avex Group in organizing concerts for its own artistes. JYP Entertainment also mobilized its artistes to perform & celebrate Xmas Eve together with the fans.

Participants of the JYP Nation concert include the company's respected music senior Park Jin Young as well as popular idol groups like 2PM, 2AM [sic], missA & WONDERGIRLS.

That night, all of them gathered at the Seoul Olympic Gymnastics Arena for a grand 'JYP NATION: TEAM PLAY' concert. It also happened to be Xmas Eve, so many artistes were dressed as adorable Santas onstage, giving the fans much excitement.

Music godfather Park Jin Young is holding a solo concert today, invites Sunye to be his guest

Korea Star Daily update 2010-12-23 13:38

Park Jin Young is holding his 'Bad Party: The Dancer' solo concerts on December 23 & 24. He has invited WONDERGIRLS Sunye to be his guest.

Even though Sunye is still busy with Asian tour activities, she readily agreed to help Park Jin Young. What the duo can exquisitely conjure up onstage has attracted everyone's attraction. Beginning in 2007, the 'Bad Party' concerts were completely sold out in 4 cities that year. They were also a hit in 2008, with an extra show added. The 4 shows in 2009 were also sold out. This year's year-end concerts are also a box office success.

JYP Entertainment said: "As the concert theme indicates, it will be an exciting & intoxicating experience. There shall be lots of singing & dancing, & the goal is to leave an indelible impression on all." Park Jin Young's 'Bad Party: The Dancer' concert starts at 8pm, December 23. There are 2 shows in Seoul, with another scheduled on December 26 in Daegu. [TVDaily reporter Cui Minzhi]

Haven't posted here in awhile, but the JYP Nation concert was so amazing that I had to post something.

I was spazzing so much when I saw SunYe and SoHee performed Tasty San-E. I couldn't take my eyes off of them. The

black dresses on both were so pretty. Especially SunYe's dress. When it ended and Breath's dance break started

and they continue, I got even more excited! It really show that they can do anything! SoHee's vocal really did

improve and it have gotten very strong.

Lim during the dance break of 10 point out of 10 was so amazing. She really does do strong better than cute.

This was the first time I thought WOW she really is so talented.

YeEun vocals was on point and flawless!

HEARTBEAT was so AMAZING!!! My jaw was basically opened the whole time! They were all so amazing!!!!

YooBin! Why are you so HOT??!

SoHee's rap during I'll Be Back was LOVE! So amazing.

All in all it was all so awesome and amazing.

Can't wait till next year's JYP Nation concert!

Seeing the fancam of 2AM boys doing "So Hot" made me wish they could have made it to the JYP Nation concert.

Maybe next year. Because we all know SunYe and JoKwon would have had an awesome duet!

I wonder if J-Tune now becomes a JYP subsidiary without coming under JYPE, ala Cube Entertainment.

Meaning, Park Jin Young (or a JYPE representative) becomes a company director (automatically, as main investor) without management duties for now (unless he wants it).

Or will J-Tune operate more like Big Hit Entertainment, focusing more on the music side while coordinating/leaving business operations with their parent company.

JYPE becomes largest shareholder of Rain's agency:

This might be a little offensive..but i kindah agree with it.

Are Vapid Girl Bands the Best We Can Do in Music?

Girls' Generation are the most popular singers in Korea, a recent poll by Gallup Korea of 3,401 people shows. The all-girl dancing band topped the list last year as well, and in 2007 and 2008, the Wonder Girls were the most popular. It has been some time since girl bands became synonymous with Korean pop music. Seven out of the top 10 most popular singers in Korea were manufactured bands like Girls' Generation, according to the survey. The remaining three were Jang Yoon-jung, Tae Jin-ah and Song Dae-kwan.

There are no proper bands among the top 10, and other than Tae, who composes songs, no other singers are capable of writing their own music. And all of the top singers spend most of their time on reality TV shows rather than performing live on stage or making albums.

Last week, the Chosun Ilbo asked 28 music experts to choose the top album of 2010 and they pointed to "Graduation" by Broccoli, You Too, while naming Nah Youn-sun and Super Session as this year's best artists. This shows the gulf between music experts and the public in preferences for pop music. How did this happen?

Over the last 20 years, Korea's GDP almost tripled, and Koreans have grown to enjoy more affluent lifestyles. More and more people drive expensive cars, travel abroad on holiday and get married in expensive hotels. Elementary schoolkids carry smartphones, and adults drink premium whiskey. But still their sole channel for finding out about music is television. Koreans rarely buy albums or go to live music performances. They think that celebrities who appear on talks shows and perform a tune or two are singers. And yet they complain that there are no good songs these days.

The medium of TV is not a good conduit for the intricate characteristics of music. Because it needs to find a common denominator for a random majority, TV tends to prefer only good-looking or funny people. There is not much interest in good musicians. A talented Korean percussion artist made his TV debut on a show featuring people with interesting party tricks or skills rather than on a music program. That shows just how unsuited TV is for talented musical artists.

Korean pop music can be classified into two categories: manufactured bands who spend all of their time and energy on TV programs and indie bands who have no interest in appearing on television. Musicians who do not fall into those two categories either become radio DJs or music teachers. But none of them make proper music, because nobody is willing to listen to good musicians these days.

The popularity of Girls' Generation may be a passing fad, but the fact that young manufactured bands are sweeping the popularity stakes is a sign that popular Korean culture is becoming shallower by the minute. We need to do something about that before it's too late.

By Han Hyun-woo from the Chosun Ilbo's News Desk
