I remember Korean reports estimating JYP to make USD 2 million from WG's North American tour (& that was before, like, a third of the dates got canceled).

Well, WG will apparently make about half of that amount for just one night in Hong Kong!

No wonder the HK concert tickets are so expensive. Top prices, converted to US dollars: HK (USD 165), Malaysia (USD 136), MULA Taiwan (USD 125), MULA Thailand (USD 118). MULA Singapore (no WG) is USD 146.

The HK venue is listed as a 13,500-seater too. The 1st Wonder Seoul venue (15,000) remains WG's biggest; 10,000 also saw them perform in Thailand.

Also for comparison purposes: Previous reports said WG's asking fee in Korea is at least 60 million won (USD 54,110). In China, it's RMB 300,000 (USD 45,000). The Hong Kongers were quoted USD 64,500!

QQ Entertainment 2010-11-2, Korea. Korean girlgroups are increasingly popular in Asian markets. WONDERGIRLS' (WG) stature is soaring, while SNSD has also signed with Universal Music for the international market. The great war between the 2 girlgroups is going to fire up even more!

By contrast, WG of the mighty 'Nobody' of recent past is scheduled to perform in Hong Kong on December 17. Actually, many Hong Kong organizations had already wooed them with requests to perform at shopping malls & other public events. But WG's stature kept soaring higher & higher. Currently, the asking price to get them to sing is up to HKD 8.8 million [uSD 1.14 million]. The 'express rate' [i.e. quick cameos] is HKD 500,000 [uSD 64,500]. It has scared off quite a lot of organizations! WG is slated to attend the 'MAMA Music Awards' in Macau on November 28. Will there be another opportunity to build on their momentum in Hong Kong.

Separately, WG member Sohee recently shot a MV with a fellow disciple-newcomer. She was shown wearing a full nurse uniform. As for 'MAMA' which WG & 2PM will attend, there are plans to admit fans who will then get to present awards to the idols.

On November 2 at 7pm, JYP Entertainment newcomer SAN E held his new MV preview at the MEGABOX Cineplex in Seoul's COEX Mall.

Since the 'LoveSick' MV stars WONDERGIRLS member Sohee, thus Yoo Se Yoon's & UV's joint directing-acting roles became a talking point. Released as a digital single, 'LoveSick' is a SAN E composition from his underground days. The song is about the sorrows of unrequited love, adeptly expressed in melodies & rap. 너무 다정해 보였어요 다들 ㅠㅠ 나도 남자친구... 엉엉 ㅠㅠ

아 그리고, 파리엔 0 층이 있더라구요! 그니까 시작이 1층이 아니라 0 층...

처음엔 우리호텔만 그런줄 알았는데, 어떤 쇼핑몰에도 0층이..

화장실이 3층에 있다고해서 빙글빙글 돌았는데 알고보니 2층... ^^....

Hong Kong has a thriving pop-concert culture. HK Coliseum (12,500, second behind AsianWorld Arena) is the more famous indoor stadium there.

Cantopop stars can sell out dozens of consecutive shows in one go. I remember SG's Stefanie Sun played to packing houses for 4 straight nights a few years ago.

Super Junior performed at WG's HK venue last year, with the top ticket listed as HKD 980 (USD 126).

MULA Thailand's new venue has a 12,000 capacity. But I excluded such ensemble concerts as a gauge of WG's drawing power (or else the likes of Dream Concert & MTV World Stage must be considered too).

"I want nobody nobody but you!" WONDERGIRLS is famous in Asia for 'Nobody', with people of all ages able to clap along with the beat. But the WONDERGIRLS lyric now carries a new meaning -- "want nobody but YOU" -- by inviting you to become a volunteer concert staff, with a chance to see WONDERGIRLS too.

Hong Kong Youth Synergy is in charge of this recruitment drive. Applicants must first become a member of our Association to get priority consideration for the capped participants in our activities. This Saturday (November 6) 4:30pm, our Association is holding a Secretariat swearing-in ceremony (first 2 hours) at Olympic House, Causeway Bay. At 6:30pm, there will be a briefing of the volunteer recruitment drive at the same venue. Applicants must email cleomi.leung@hkys.hk with name, phone number, number of attendees, event to attend (swearing-in ceremony &/or the briefing) by Thursday 6pm. Successful applicants will be notified by email on Friday.

'LoveSick' hit #1 in several real-time charts yesterday , according to JYPE Marketing staff Randy Chung's twitter.

Actually, it was #2 on Cyworld BGM behind 2AM -- he was razzing to ensure San E was too excited to go to sleep in the tweet.

The digital single is still doing well when I surveyed the charts just now (many top 10 feats, some top 20).

Sohee must be pleased too, esp. the MV chart hit.

Nominees for the ‘25th Golden Disk Awards’ revealed!

The ‘Golden Disk Awards‘ has recently revealed their nominees for its 2010 awards ceremony, set to be held on December 9th at Koryeo University.

The awards show first began in 1986, and since then, it’s become Korea’s most prestigious awards ceremony for music. Nicknamed the ‘Korean Grammy Awards,’ the ceremony is known for its fair standards, as the committee utilizes figures from album and digital music sales only.

Due to such simplistic standards, the show is able to feature the truly successful artists that have received the love of the public each year, including the ‘indie’ or ‘underground musicians.

From a Chinese translation I read, it looks like WG won't permanently base themselves in Korea come December (to follow up on what Yeeun wrote).

But she revealed in the next sentence that WG may appear on some Korean broadcast. That is all she hinted.

In the meantime, her eczema seemed to have gotten worse.

She also grumbled a bit about overall sluggishness from the downtime, even as WG preparations for the MULA Thailand concert (still more than a week away) go on.

There are some ticket price adjustments, but an extra hour has been added to the show.
