Work comes before settling down (for now), says Rain

The 34-year-old Korean multi-hyphenate spoke to the media a day before wrapping up his concert tour in Singapore

Rain sported a more casual look for the interview before suiting up for the press conference

Korean singer-actor Rain needs no introduction to most followers of K-entertainment: the 34-year-old made his solo debut as a singer in 2002 and kicked off his acting career a year after. Fast forward more than a decade later, and the successful entertainer remains down-to-earth while being able to handle himself with the flair of an industry veteran.

Jetting into town two days before wrapping up his concert tour, Rain Tour THE SQUALL on our little red dot, Rain spoke to Toggle in a closed-door interview an hour before his press conference at the Resorts World Convention Centre.

Flanked by an impressive entourage, he greeted us warmly in English before proceeding with the interview. “I think the word ‘accomplishment’ is a really big word to use, and to pinpoint one single thing that I feel is my biggest accomplishment (in my career thus far) is not that easy. If I had to choose, I’d say that being here and still being able to do what I love, in itself, is already a blessing,” he mused.

Speaking excitedly about his upcoming comeback - his first in three years - he let on that an R&B track on the album will see him collaborate with PSY (of ‘Gangnam Style’ fame). In addition, he will be presenting a variety of genres, including hip hop, which will ultimately be able to showcase his versatility.

When speaking about his plans and resolutions for the coming year, Rain chuckled that instead of making plans a year ahead, he compartmentalises his mental to-do lists into three, six, and nine year plans.

It has been a year since superstar Rain been in Singapore. To the delight of his fans, he is in Singapore before the year ends as part of his Squall World Tour. He met up with the media on 29th December to talk more about his concert which will be held on 30th December, 730pm at Resorts World Convention Centre, Resorts World Ballroom.

For fans who have been waiting for his new album, Rain shared that he will, in fact, be releasing an album soon! “My new songs and album will be released in 2 weeks time! The teaser video should be released soon!” he exclaimed.

The teaser photo of his new album was already released and it captured the attention of netizens with its cool, silhouette vibe. When asked what is the concept of his new album, he shared “I worked together with Psy who produced one song on the album. That song is an R&B song and I’m sure it’ll be intense!”

Psy is well known for his retro music but this time round, he is producing an R&B song for Rain. It will be interesting to see what kind of music they worked together on.

Recently Rain is getting lots of attention for his collaborations in China with his first ever Chinese drama, Diamond Lover. He exclaimed that he would love to film a production in Singapore whenever he has an opportunity. “It doesn’t matter what genre it is, just filming in Singapore would already be an honor as I really love Singapore!”

Considering his large fanbase in China, his new album would even have a Chinese version for his fans to listen to the songs in mandarin!

It was recently reported that Rain is cast alongside f(x) Victoria in the Chinese drama,Endless August. When asked what it was like acting alongside her, Rain shared, “She is really lovely, cute and an active girl so you guys should anticipate the drama which would be out next year!”

Last year, Rain announced he had created his own one-man agency which is focused on finding talented rookies and recruiting stars. After much anticipation, Rain shared that he has plans to debut a new boy band next year or latest, in 2018. He asked for everyone to await their debut.

Rain, who is in Singapore for his Squall World Tour, share what the fans can expect during the concert. “I would like to share a warm image and show my natural self to the fans. Since the venue is smaller as compared to other concert venues, it would be more intimate and we could be closer!” he said making the fans anticipate his concert.

Rain to Appear on ′Yoo Hee Yeol′s Sketchbook′ With New Track

Artist Rain is revealing his new track for the first time on KBS 2TV′s Yoo Hee Yeol′s Sketchbook.

On December 28, a representative of KBS stated that Rain will be appearing on Yoo Hee Yeol′s Sketchbook set to air on the second week of January and plans to reveal his new track.

Meanwhile, Rain, who is set to make a comeback on January 15, will meet fans with a track given to him by artist Psy. The upcoming album marks his first release in 3 years since his 6th studio album Rain Effect.

Rain exudes class

South Korean singer and actor Rain unveiled the jacket image for his new album Monday.

His agency, R.A.I.N. Company, updated their official website with the jacket image, titled “The Best Gift Ever.”

Rain is shown wearing a black fedora with a large black feather, posing against a dark background, bringing out his masculinity.

After a three-year hiatus, the artist is returning to the stage on Jan. 15. Before his comeback, Rain plans to release teaser, behind-the-scenes and choreography videos, while also making appearances on variety shows. He is set to meet with fans via Naver’s V app, as well.

The new album comes as the first release since he set up his own agency.
