Rain’s Former Tenant Charged With Defamation

A former tenant of mega-idol Rain has been charged with defamation.

The former tenant in question, a 61-year-old designer identified only by her surname Park, was brought to court for the third time, according to a media report on the morning of October 10.

The series of lawsuits between Rain and Park began in 2009, when Rain took legal action against Park for failing to pay rent, which eventually led to her leaving the unit owned by Rain. Earlier this year, Rain successfully won another lawsuit against Park for leaving clothes and garbage in the unit and refusing to remove them.

In retaliation, Park spread false information about Rain. In 2013, Park submitted a complaint three times to the Ministry of National Defense Prosecutor’s Office, claiming that Rain had forged the leasing contract and committed fraud (at the time, Rain was serving as an active duty soldier). Additionally, Park continuously staged protests against Rain, using slanderous picketing in the Seocho-dong neighborhood of Seoul where the rented unit is located.

For these reasons, the Seoul Central District Court recently booked Park without detention on charges of defamation and submitting false accusations.

Rain has officially founded his own label 'R.A.I.N COMPANY'!

 

On the 10th, he released a statement that read,

This is the first news from R.A.I.N Company.

We'd like to let you know that the actor and singer Rain (

Jung Ji Hoon

) has signed an exclusive contract with us on October 1st. Rain Company will build a dream team with a staff that has the best ability in all aspects that they built from experiences. If the basic management was to have one manager team manage albums, dramas, movies, and overseas business tasks, we will be adopting an American agency system to manage singers and actors with professionals from each specialty.

Vice President Kim Yong Bae, who has been with Rain since his debut, will manage the album team. Representative Park Jong Sun will be taking care of the actor team, the American agency will still be managed by WME, and Jason Jang will take care of Chinese activities.

As such, specialists from each division make up our label, and we will make efforts to bring in rookies and to develop contents for our existing celebrities. We will stay humble and do our best to become a multi entertainment company for the best artists.

Rain sets up own agency

Korean singer Rain set up his own agency Rain Company, with a differentiated management system, on Sunday.

“The company officially signed a contract with Rain on Oct. 1,” said an official from the label. “It will graft the management styles of U.S., where an array of staff with top abilities in different fields take part in the agency.”

Under the new system, expert-led teams will handle each segment such as K-pop, film, drama and overseas activity, rather than one person taking charge of everything.

The agency will not only focus on Rain’s personal activities, but it will also work on developing new artists.

Rain launches entertainment company

Entertainer Rain has launched an entertainment company that aims to attract fans in Korea and China with singers and actors, according to a statement from the star on Saturday.

R.A.I.N Company will have specialist executives who will handle people in particular areas, such as singers, or actors or hallyu stars.

“Unlike conventional management companies that used to have a manager controlling all sectors -- music albums, TV series, movies and businesses in overseas -- our company is based on the U.S. “agent system,”in which experts in each area take control of their specialist field,” Rain said.

 

 

Rain from "Ninja Assassin" (2009)

Rain, whose real name is Jung Ji-hoon, launched the company after his two-year contract with Cube Entertainment ended in September. On Sept 7, he said on his Facebook page that he had agreed with Cube’s chairman, whom he said was “like his father,” not to extend the contract and go their separate ways.

Rain made his debut in 2002 as a singer and began his acting career with a Korean TV series in 2003.

He made his Hollywood debut in the sci-fi action film“Speed Racer” (2008) and took a leading role with action movie “Ninja Assassin” (2009).

Singer and actor Rain who was expected to stand on his own, founded his own Rain Company on the 11th.

Rain Company said, "He signed himself to his own company on the 1st of October". Many stars have been standing alone so Rain's new attempt is no surprise but he's doing things the American way.

Rain Company said, "Usually managements have a team of managers taking care of music, drama, movie and overseas business all at once but Rain Company has experts of different fields managing their singers and actors. Singer-actor Rain established a one-man entertainment agency, Rain Company.

The new company said in a press release on Sunday that it will work with veterans in various fields, including music, management and marketing, and it will focus on nurturing “the next big things.”

The 33-year-old singer and actor recently let his contract lapse with Cube Entertainment, which is home to K-pop musicians like Beast and 4Minute.

Rain, who uses his real name, Jung Ji-hoon, for some acting credits, debuted on the music scene in 1998 and instantly captivated music fans with his flamboyant dances. He has had hits like “La Song” and “Rainism.”

The versatile singer began acting in 2002 and succeeded in expanding his career into films and TV drama series.

He also did some films in Hollywood, such as “Ninja Assassin” (2009) and “Speed Racer” (2008). He recently finished shooting the Chinese drama series “Diamond Lover.”

Rain launches his new entertainment company and signs on the dotted line

 

 

After a September filled with questions concerning entertainer Rain's decision to leave Cube Entertainment and whether or not another agency was in his future, October has yielded an answer. In a statement released on Rain's official website this past weekend, his newly launched management agency R.A.I.N. Company announced that the mega-star (a.k.a. Jung Ji Hoon) has signed an exclusive contract with them effective October 1.

 

R.A.I.N. Company also revealed that it would be acting as a one-man agency focusing completely on Rain for now, but not forever.

What that means is this: The South Korean firm has also built a multi-entertainment dream team that will, in the future, focus on nurturing rookie talent and scouting established stars. Unlike entertainment agencies in Korea where a single agency handles all business at home and abroad for albums, TV series, movies, and business brands, it will introduce an American-style agent system where actors and singers will be managed by an experienced executive in that specialty and location.

V.P. Kim Yong Bae, who has been with Rain since his 2002 debut as a solo singer, will head up the music team, while Rep. Park Jong Sun runs the actor team. WME (Rain's U.S. film rep William Morris Endeavor), a powerhouse American talent agency with offices in Beverly Hills, Nashville, Miami, New York, and London, will be in charge of operations in the States.

CEO Jason Jang of HS E&C, based out of Shanghai, will manage Hallyu stars. Mr. Jang has been successful in this field for many years and already represents Rain, Jang Geun Suk, Jeon Ji Hyun, So Ji Sub, Park Shin Hye, Lee Da Hae, Han Chae Young, and other South Korean artists in Greater China, so this can only spell a win-win, I reckon!
