World star Rain recently opened up about the hateful comments he read online after getting out of the army. 

On the latest episode of Mnet’s “Rain Effect” that aired on December 26, he shared, “Of course it makes me upset when I read hateful comments and personal attacks online, but I guess it’s better than zero interest.” 

He continued, “Life is like a roller coaster. It has its ups and downs. To me, I thought they were good friends, wonderful friends, but then all of a sudden our relationship took a turn for the worse. I’m not bitter about it. Even if it hurts, I decided not to let it show. That whatever happens, I’ll just deal with it. I knew it would someday get out in the open. How can someone always receive applause for the rest of their life?” 

In related news, Rain’s case was dismissed after being accused by a citizen that he took advantage of his title of celebrity soldier, taking frequent leaves from service, thus violating military code. A spokesperson from Cube Entertainment commented, “We were told the case was dismissed on December 12. Rain’s comeback will be carried out as planned.” Fans can follow Rain on his newest reality show on Mnet “Rain Effect.”

Who will give the ultimate performance?

TVXQ and Rain have both proven themselves as one of the strongest performers in the music world, and they will be going head to head on January 6th with their simultaneous comeback.

Fans had already been anticipating their comeback for early next year, and it's been decided that even the date will be exactly the same. Both TVXQ and Rain won't be able to avoid being compared to one another.

TVXQ revealed a teaser for their new song "Something" from a TV commercial. Their performance, which was reminiscent of a puppet performance, raised expectations of their comeback performance to come. Two men wearing dandy attire put on a glamorous performance with female performers using a light up microphone and long pieces of string. The bright retro swing rhythm leaves a strong impression on the listener.

Rain was resolved to show his fans everything that he's got. He chose two different songs as his double title, in hopes of showing two performances of different colors. On December 26th he pre-leased his music video, and displayed extraordinary confidence in his work. According to the album information that was published before, his title song "30 Sexy" will highlight Rain's wide range of vocals. His other title song "La Song" will be of a very unique genre, including hip-hop, old school, electronic, rock, and punk.

TVXQ and Rain's simultaneous comeback early next year is bound to be a hot issue. Previously in 2008 the two had comeback with Rainism and Mirotic, both of which had received a rated R rating in Korea for its racy lyrics.

If you’re anything like me, you have been anxiously awaiting the release of Rain’s 6th Album, “Rain Effect,” for quite some time now.  The good news is that the wait is finally over.  The bad news is…well…there actually is no bad news.  I just wanted to see if you were paying attention. 

First, I need to make one extremely important announcement.  Cloud USA will NOT be placing a bulk order for our members via The Cloud after all.  Stephe and I have decided not to do this after lengthy discussion with each other and with supporters of The Cloud for the following reasons:

1. 1. The Rain Effect album is already readily available for pre-order from several popular K-Pop websites on our side of the globe.  On the particular sites that we will be recommending, your album purchases will count towards Rain’s “official” sales numbers in South Korea and help him rise on the music charts and win on the music shows there.
   2. These websites are well-known and reputable.
   3. The cost of international shipping from these websites is extremely reasonable.

      
      
      The main reason The Cloud was offering a bulk-order option to global fans (that’s us) in the first place was so that the albums we purchased would be counted in Rain’s official numbers during his comeback in South Korea.  Since we actually have access to websites where our numbers are going count anyway, none of us can think of a good reason to stress out everyone and complicate Rain’s comeback with overseas bulk orders.  So, we have made the decision not to participate in that effort.
      
      
      Instead, we are going to give you some advice on how you can order Rain’s new album in a way that will actually help Rain.  After all, you do want your purchases to count in Rain’s official numbers and help him comeback with a bang, don’t you?  I know I do.  But first, let me tell you a bit about how all of this of this works, so that you’ll understand better what you are going to be doing—and why.  (Please bear with me. This is going to be a LONG post…)

      How music comebacks work in South Korea:
      
      In South Korea, competitive music shows are popular.  Extremely popular.  However, unlike our competitive music shows here in The States (like “American Idol,” for example), these shows are not about finding potential or unknown talent.  Instead, they are fierce competitions between both debuting rookies and highly successful idols like Rain for domination in the music market (sort of like a “professional” American Idol on speed).
      
      On these music shows, like KBS’s Music Bank, MBC’s Music Core, MNet’s M! Countdown and SBS’s Inkigayo, a winner is chosen every week using a ridiculously confusing formula.  For example, on KBS’s Music Bank the scoring system includes counts from digital music charts (65%), album sales (5%), number of times broadcast on KBS TV only (20%), and viewers choice charts (10%).  MNet’s M! Countdown/Mwave’s scoring system includes counts from digital single sales (50%), album sales (10%), global fan votes via Mwave/MNet America, and Mnet Japan (5%), age preference (20%), live show preferences (10%), and SMS Votes (5%).
      
      It is our understanding that 2014′s January competition is going to be vicious, with many top singers/groups making their comebacks at the same time as Rain (I.e., Psy, TVXQ, 2PM, Girl’s Day, Girl’s Generation, T-ARA, etc.).  Comebacks usually last a month or two.  So, prepare yourself, Clouds, because January and February 2014 are going to be insanely busy with Rain appearances.
      
      Every week is a new week and every show is a new chance to either rise or fall—no matter who you are or how long you’ve been working in the business.  Thus, fans of idols in South Korea take these musical competitions extremely seriously.  Rain’s loving Clouds in South Korea are no exception to this rule.  At this very moment, they are preparing in every way they possibly can to make Rain’s comeback in South Korea a total, full-on success.  (Go Clouds!)
      
      

      So, how can we help from way over here in the U.S. and other countries that are NOT South Korea?  Well, I thought you’d never ask.  Below are the steps you can take to show Rain that his global fans also mean serious business.

      
      

      

      
      

      1)  Buy a physical copy of Rain’s album from an online source that reports its sales to at least ONE of the music charts in South Korea.

      
      Buy a physical copy of Rain’s album from one of the following websites:
      
      

YesAsia.comKpopmart.comDVD Heaven

Both YesAsia and DVD Heaven report their sales to both the Hanteo and Gaon charts in South Korea.  Kpopmart reports its sales to the Hanteo chart.  So, purchases on any of these site will do.  The deals are different, so just choose the one that you like the best.  Rain’s album is already available for pre-order on ALL of these sites.

Both Stephe and I have used YesAsia in the past and they have always proven to be reliable.  Cloud USA is an affiliate of YesAsia, so if you order from them, then we get a few pennies from your purchase too. Click on the link above or visit Cloud USA’s Store and click on the YesAsia logo in the sidebar to access our affiliate “Rain Effect” page.

Other K-Pop fans frequent Kpopmart and DVD Heaven, and they say that both of these sites are reliable too.  I’ve never ordered anything from DVD Heaven myself, but I just pre-ordered two Rain Effect albums from Kpopmart.  I’ll let you all know what my experience was with them after the albums arrive.  Hopefully, all will be well.

These are the most dependable sites we know of, but if you have another site that you like better, and you are absolutely positive that it reports to the South Korean music charts, then please let us know, and we’ll be glad to add it to our list.

2)  Buy a digital copy of Rain’s album immediately after its release from an online source that reports its sales to at least ONE of the music charts in South Korea.

Buy a digital copy of Rain’s album from Soribada at Kpop.soribada.com immediately after it is released and appears online, because it is going to take several weeks for your physical album to get to you from Asia.  If you’re like me, you’ll want to hear Rain’s music the day it is available.  So, if you wait for your album to arrive, you will miss out on a lot of the fun.  Besides, buying two albums helps Rain even more than buying one does.  I guarantee you I’M not waiting that long to hear his new music myself.

Soribada is like a Korean iTunes, but the site above is the “English” or “global” version of Soribada’s Korean website.   I e-mailed Soribada just to make sure that our purchases from their site would help Rain’s comeback. This is what they said—and I quote:

“If you download music at Kpop.soribada.com, your purchase will be reflected in the Soribada chart and on the Korean TV program charts like Music Bank. However, repeated downloads from the same account only count ONCE.

The chart available at http://kpop.soribada.com is same as the chart at http://www.soribada.com/#/, but the one on http://kpop.soribada.com is from the previous day, due to the time difference. Your downloads from http://kpop.soribada.com will be reflected in the chart available at http://www.soribada.com/#/ as soon as the sales are recorded.

Also, our streaming service of http://kpop.soribada.com is intended to assist users with selecting and downloading music. At the moment, there is only a one-minute-long preview of each song available.  Please keep in mind that our one-minute preview streaming will not be reflected on the charts.  We do plan to provide full streaming service (I.e., sound sourcing) in the future, but for now, it is unfortunately not currently available for global fans.  Should you have any questions or any inconveniences with our service, please feel free to contact us.  ~Soribada Customer Service“

Please note that the global Soribada site is a “subscription-based” service.  So, to order Rain’s album, you will be required to purchase at least a one-month subscription that is at least equal to the purchase price of Rain’s album on the site.   If you don’t want recurring charges, then do not set up your membership account to renew itself automatically, or you will find yourself being charged for another month.

Rain’s album is not listed yet as it has not been released.  As soon as it is released, the album should appear on the website.  Please keep an eye out for it and alert other Clouds you know as soon as you see it is available for download.  (We have no idea if you can create multiple accounts on Soribada to purchase multiple albums for more chart impact.)

So far, Soribada is the only source for digital downloads that reports to the Korean music charts that we have found.  If you know of another reliable, online digital source for Korean music available in North America that reports to Korean music charts, please let us know, so we can add it to our list.

3)  Vote for Rain for MNet’s M! Countdown every single day each week that he is scheduled to appear via Mwave/MNet America.

Every week, during Rain’s comeback, Rain’s musical show appearance schedule will be posted somewhere on either The Cloud and/or Rain’s official website.  Please make a note of when Rain is going to appear on MNet’s M! Countdown.  Keep an eye on the  Mwave/MNet America website.  When Rain’s name appears on the list, please vote, vote, vote like crazy for him to win.  Here are the site’s rules for voting:

• • • You must register for the site to be able to vote.You must be logged in to vote.Each registered ID may vote

ONCE PER DAY during the voting period each week.  (YES, you may register multiple ID’s with multiple e-mail addresses and YES, you can use this method to vote multiple times.)The voting period runs Friday 11 AM through Monday 9 AM.Current ratings are updated every 30 minutes and are based on votes from MNet Global, MNet Korea and MNet Japan.

4)  View Rain’s music video(s) on YouTube every day and OFTEN.

As soon as Rain’s music video(s) are posted by one of his official agencies on YouTube, watch them every day and watch them OFTEN.  Watch them on your desktop, your laptop, your cellphone, your Roku.  Watch them at the office (but please don’t get in trouble :-P).  You get my drift.  Do I need to mention what Psy’s YouTube views did for him?  I didn’t think so.  Note: We have no idea where Rain’s music video(s) will be released on YouTube or when, but we will let you know as soon as we find out which one we should watch to pump up the views.

5) Donate funds to The Cloud’s Rain Effect Support Activities Donation Project.

The Cloud is asking all world clouds to unite and help Rain’s Korean Clouds ensure that “Rain Effect” tops all of the Korean pop charts as soon as it is released.  As I mentioned earlier, purchasing the album accounts for only a small percentage of the scores on the music shows in Korea.  A much larger percentage of the scores is derived from the purchase of digital downloads and/or live streaming of the music (I.e., from sound sources).  Digital sound sources for the listening and/or downloading of Korean music for us global fans are extremely scarce.

Thus, the Cloud is seeking voluntary donations from Clouds around the world to be used to support the release of Rain’s album in South Korea.  Cloud USA has already donated $100.00 to this cause on our club’s behalf.  If you can join in with your own donation, we encourage you to do so.  It doesn’t matter how small your donation is, because all donations will be combined to make the biggest impact possible.  (Did I mention that Rain’s Korean Clouds are serious about this?  As a heart attack.  Did you think I was kidding?  :-P)

Your donation should be sent to The Cloud’s Overseas Fan Coordinator, Heidi (huhuhuhu), via PayPal.  The PayPal account is:  heidi.shanghai@hotmail.com.  Choose the payment option for friends and family and please pay the PayPal fee, so that The Cloud doesn’t have to.  Please indicate in the message section of your payment that your payment is for the “Rain Effect Support Activities Donation Project.”

He also updated his profile image with his comeback image with the caption "30 SEXY RAIN". Rain will be releasing his 6th album on January 6th titled "Rain Effect" with two title songs '30 Sexy' and 'La Song'.

'30 Sexy' will give off the variety of his free vocal talents as compared to 'La Song' which will be the type of song that Rain has never tried. 'La Song' will feature old school hip hop, electronic, rock, and punk all coming together.

Korean pop star Rain is ready to what “30 SEXY” is next week.

Rain rolled out the teaser image of his upcoming title tune “30 SEXY” through his official Twitter account and his agency CUBE DC’s official Facebook page and Twitter account Monday noon Korea time.

In the concept picture of “30 SEXY,” one of the double title tunes of his sixth full effort “Rain Effect,” the 31-year-old star donning leather outfit turned dangerously hot, exuding strong presence and charisma of a thirty-something man.

Tomorrow noon KST, the teaser image of Rain’s one another title song “La Song” will also be released through the same channels.

The plastic copy of the Hallyu star’s forthcoming album “Rain Effect,” the same title with his on-going real variety show on music cable channel Mnet, will hit the shelve next Monday.

The membership fee for this term has been reduced to $32. USD (8th Cloud was $55. USD, but hey, we got over 2 and a half years for that, so I’m not complaining), and that payment goes to Overseas Cloudmaster huhuhuhu at her hotmail address below, via Paypal. And things are a lot easier in that your “application” is an email to the separate Cloud gmail address with the information that is being asked of you below, AFTER you’ve signed up as a registered user at Rain’s Official Fan Community (The Korean Cloud) IF you haven’t already.

Recruitment lasts for nearly a whole month, from now until January 26, so you do have some time to recover from the holidays.

*How to join: after membership fee has been paid to the designated account, please send your application email to raincloudworld@gmail.com with the following information:

Singer Rain, who will be making a comeback this January, will be greeting the new year in Singapore.

Rain has left for Singapore through Incheon Airport today in order to attend the '2013-2014 Singapore Marina Bay Sands K-POP Concert' that will be held on December 31.

Rain will be performing a solo stage with over 10 songs and greet fans in Singapore.

He will then fly back to Korea on January 2.

After returning, he will be busy with his last minute comeback preparations.

He will be releasing his new album on January 6, making this his first comeback in 4 years.

He will be coming back with double title songs, "30SEXY" and "LA SONG."

He hopes that through this album he will be able to show that a man can still be sexy and charismatic even in their 30s.

Rain released the concept of his new title. He will come back with the “Rain Effect’ on 30 and he uploaded his teaser image through his twitter. He will be back for about 4 years after he released the ‘The song that will get you’, ‘Hip song’. In the picture, he was giving off his man-charm. It was his concept picture. He also wore the thick make-up in that picture. Also, he will start his work with ‘Rain Effect’

Bringing his twitter back to life, Rain unveiled more photos of his upcoming album, Rain Effect.

On December 30, Rain tweeted, “Tomorrow…11:59 am teaser.” With the tweet, he attached two photos for his second title song, LA SONG, which will include diverse genres of music including hip-hop, electronic, and Latin jazz.

He previously released the teaser image for 30 Sexy at 11:59 AM (KST), telling fans to get ready for Rain's comeback.

Rain will be releasing his album on January 6.

The next teaser for Rain will be released on December 31 at 11:59 AM (KST).

All along, I have always had this wish of meeting and seeing my favorite idol Rain. It was with this wish in my heart that I travelled to Seoul, South Korea this year to celebrate Christmas and new year with my niece, Gheeric. We arrived there on the 23rd of December. It was just a simple wish that any fan girl would make, to meet with their idol and get his autograph. 

A week into our wonderful stay, I was informed by Cloud Sister Terry Yu (Thank you so much!) that Rain would be going to Singapore on the 30th of December. I cancelled all our plans immediately and rushed to Incheon international Airport. All the while praying that I would catch my favorite idol Rain.

After travelling 2 hours via the subway system, we finally reached Incheon Airport at 4:30pm of December 30. We raced to the Korean Airlines counters and I saw Rain’s dancers there. I recognized Hongshi and proceeded to strike up some small talk with him. I got a picture with him too.

I also saw the lady whom we spoke to when we visited the Rainy’s Entertainment officer last July. I passed her our gifts to Rain (Feli Saldana’s gift and my gift) to her. I also passed Feli's personal letter to her. She was nice about it. I must say, that Rainy Entertainment has the most pleasant and approachable staff. Even the managers are pleasant to talk to.

They were all busy with checking, so I just waited patiently for them to finish. Once they were done, I decided to follow them as my intuition was telling me that Rain should be arriving anytime soon since it was nearly 5 PM. Then a black van came by and Rain’s manager walked out. I was right! Rain had just arrived with his good Friend KevinRa.

I was rendered speechless with joy as he approached to where I was standing. I was so starstruck that my whole body was shaking. Though I did not realise it at that time, I was so close to Rain that I was holding onto his arms. It was thanks to my niece Gheeric who acted as my official photographer using her newly bought CANON camera. I handed over the photo that I was carrying with me to ask for his autograph. Rain was so nice and accomodating! I’ve gotten my best christmas gift this year! His signature! He tried to pass me back his pen, but I told him, “Sorry it’s not mine”. 

I told him I am his CLOUD from the Philippines that I love him so much - We love him so much. Take care and have a safe flight to Singapore, Rain!

RAIN's so tall, cute and sexy, and he had beautiful skin with the complexion of milk. I do feel that the title track of his new album #30SEXY best describes him. I am so happy that I saw him in person! He looks as great and as cute as always. Truly, Rain is a sight to behold.He is a shining world star and my inspiration.

I feel so blessed to have seen him again after July 10th 2013. In my heart I am proud to say and affirm the biggest decision I’ve ever made in my entire life: To be Rain’s CLOUD forever and to love ONLY RAIN for the rest of my life.

Looks like Rain is pulling up his comeback date. Which means, he will not make a comeback on the same day as TVXQ.

His agency previously announced that he will drop his 6th studio album “Rain Effect” on January 6, but it’s been pushed up to January 2 to fit his scheduled movie promotional activities abroad.

A Cube DC representative said, “Rain had an extra filming for his Hollywood movie scheduled in January so his whole schedule needed to be revised. The interest for his upcoming album is really high because many people are looking forward to his comeback as its been four years since his last album, and it just happens that the album has been pushed up unexpectedly.”

Rain will promote with double title tracks. He released a music video teaser for the first title track “30 Sexy” earlier today. The vintage style music video teaser for second title track “La Song” shows another side of Rain compared to the first teaser. The song already hints at a fun track with a brass line riding on a fun drum beat along with Rain’s unique use of vocals.

Rain pulls up album release date, now scheduled for January 2

December 31, 2013


If you were asking yourself how you can possibly wait until the 6th for Rain's long-awaited return, especially after the release of the recent powerful MV teasers, then you're in store for some good news! The singer has decided to pull up the release date!

Although he was originally planning for the release next week, due to his upcoming filming schedules for his next Hollywood movie, the singer and his managing agency, Cube DC, have made the decision to change the date.
