The investigation by the prosecutor’s office for violation of military rules against singer Rain has finally ended.

According to a source in the law field, the Seoul Central District Prosecutor’s Office has dismissed the case against Rain, following accusations that he had violated the military code of conduct while in active service.

The ordinary citizen who had lodged the complaint against Rain had claimed that Rain took frequent leave from service as a celebrity soldier, and that he had violated military code. He had demanded criminal punishment for the singer. The Gangnam police station had forwarded the case to the public prosecutor’s office.

Rain had previously received seven days of probation for violation of military rules. He had faced a military disciplinary committee in January of this year for frequent outings and nights out; he had also been captured on dates with actress Kim Tae Hee in uniform but without his military cap, thereby violating service regulations.

His agency, Cube Entertainment, stated, “We were notified that the case had been dismissed on December 12. Rain’s comeback will be carried out as planned.”

Rain appeared at the Mnet Asian Music Awards this year, and currently has his own reality show on Mnet, “Rain Effect,” which will show what goes on behind the scenes as he prepares for his impending comeback.

Rain was cleared of suspicion by prosecution for the allegations of him violating military service regulations while on duty as a celebrity recruit.

As previously reported, a citizen filed a formal complaint against Rain to the Seoul Central Prosecutor's Office back in November for allegedly violating military service regulations and taking frequent vacations while serving as a celebrity recruit.

It has been revealed that the person who reported Rain had watched the footage of 'On-Site 21' on celebrity recruits, which showed Rain, KCM, Mighty Mouth's Sangchu, and Se7en enjoying a night out after their duties by drinking together, and also seeking out massage parlors in the case of Sangchu and Se7en. At the time, Rain was already let off with a light punishment of 1 week probation when his previous military controversy arose about his vacation days, and was not considered to have done anything wrong by the military in the outing he took part in in the footage from 'On-Site 21'.

Following Rain's participation in an investigation this past month, his agency Cube DC stated on the 24th, "According to the Seoul Central Prosecutors' Office, Rain was cleared of suspicion concerning his alleged violations of military service regulations."

With this good news on Christmas, Rain recently returned to Korea following filming for his Hollywood film 'The Prince' and is currently preparing for his upcoming album to be released on January 6.

From the Seoul Central District Prosecutor’s Office, Rain received a notice saying he has been acquitted from violations made during his military service.

On December 24, Cube DC stated, “In December, Rain was investigated by the prosecution after being accused of committing military criminal acts by a citizen. On this issue, the prosecution recently cleared Rain from suspicions of military law violations."

At the end of November, the issue was transferred over from the police, who held the opinion Rain should be acquitted, to the prosecution, who began the investigation. The prosecution concluded the case saying Rain will be acquitted.

Meanwhile, Rain recently returned to Korea after filming the Hollywood movie The Prince. He is currently preparing his January 6 comeback.

Singer Rain cleared of suspected military code violation

2013-12-24

SEOUL, Dec. 24 (Yonhap) -- K-pop star Rain has been cleared of suspicions that he violated the military code of conduct during his mandatory service, the singer's agency said Tuesday.

The 31-year-old singer, whose real name is Jung Ji-hoon, has been investigated by prosecutors over allegations that he spent too many days off duty before being discharged in July.

The Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office probing the case dismissed charges against Rain on Dec. 12, CUBE Entertainment said in a press release.

All able-bodied South Korean men are required to serve about two years in the armed forces.

Rain spent 21 months as an "entertainment soldier" as part of a special unit designated by the defense ministry as an agency for promotion.

The now-defunct entertainment unit had employed actors, singers and other entertainers to provide TV and radio programming geared toward military audiences before it was abolished amid rising criticism over the special treatment the entertainer soldiers received.

Rain is one of the most popular male celebrities in South Korea and a well-known star in other Asian countries, and has appeared in several TV series and films.

The name of Rain's new album is 'Rain Effect' due out next January 6th.

It is the same as that of his reality show series, the first episode of which was broadcast last 19th. The reason for this is to express his more upgraded musicality.

Rain is set to return to the music scene with the double title tracks from his new album. One of the tracks is entitled "30Sexy" where he is now at the height of his outstanding vocal skills.

The other is La Song. It includes a wide variety of genres including Hip Hop, Old School, Electronic, Rock, Funk, etc. that he has never tried, being harmony with one another. It is some kind of uptempo dance tune where he is expected to enthral music fans with his lovely look and explosive dancing.

2014 will start with a bang as both Rain and TVXQ have announced that their comeback albums would be released on the same day: January 6, 2014.

Rain will make his official comeback on January 6, the first time the singer will release a new album since his October 2011 military enlistment. Fans can anticipate the singer’s exciting performances as his next album will include double title tracks “30sexy,” a vocal focused song that contrasts from “La song,” a hip hop old school, electronic tune.

The singer, who showcased his charismatic stage at the “2013 Mnet Asian Music Awards,” reveals the making of his upcoming album through his new Mnet reality show, “Rain Effect.” Rain’s agency stated, “This will be a full album. It’s a comeback in a long time, so we are putting much effort to present a high quality album. Please look forward to Rain’s signature performance.”

Singer Rain and K-pop idol duo TVXQ are to make their comebacks on the same day, Jan. 6, raising anticipation among fans enamored with their powerful on-stage dance moves.

TVXQ plans to take on a lighter tone with a retro-swing sound this time, as revealed on Thursday in the teaser video on a TV ad for a new song titled “Something.” The duo will demonstrate a fancy dance routine with female dancers using a long string and illuminated microphones.

Singer Rain, after a two-year hiatus involving his controversial military service, released the music video for the title track of his upcoming album on the same day. The title track “30sexy” will feature Rain’s vocals in various styles; another song, “La Song,” will run the gamut from hip-hop and electronic to pop, rock and punk. The new album is due to be released next year.

Rain reveals he conversed with Lee Hyori once when they were both naked at a tanning salon

On December 26, a new episode of Mnet's 'Rain Effect' aired, featuring footage taken of Rain and Lee Hyori backstage at the 2013 MAMA held on November 22.

As Rain and Lee Hyori were always known to be close friends, they relayed an interesting story about a time they had a conversation together while both were naked in the tanning salon.

Lee Hyori said, "I have a lot to say to Rain . . . First, I should say everything about the time I saw your naked body in the tanning salon."  Rain replied, "That was really funny.  I went to the tanning salon and I heard Lee Hyori say from the next room, 'Is that Ji Hoon (Rain's real name)?'"

Lee Hyori continued, "We conversed while we were both naked.  We did not see each other.  We talked with a wall between us, but thinking of the fact that he was next to me made me have weird imaginations.  You know."

On a new episode of Mnet's 'Rain Effect,' Rain compared his life to a roller coaster, saying that there were many ups and downs, specifically in relation to how others viewed him as a celebrity.




The production team asked Rain why he never talked about his past in detail. Rain explained, "People used to think of me as a proper and charismatic person, but one day, those thoughts became distorted. However, I did not think that this was unfair. Even if it were unfair, I did not want to show this. I thought that whatever I did, I should just endure it, thinking that the truth would be revealed at some time or another."



He continued, "It is not like I could just be applauded forever. There has to be ups and downs. Long ago, I used to think, 'What am I doing,' but these days, I accept good criticism and I let other criticisms like 'I just don't like you' go in one ear and out the other."



Lastly, Rain said, "I am working harder for those people who love me. The public are my parents. They gave birth to me and allowed me to eat and live. The people who created me as 'Rain' are the Korean fans. They definitely have the right to criticize me and they also have the right to like and love me because I have enjoyed a lot of happiness over the years."

TVXQ talked about releasing their new album in January and promoting at the same time as Rain during their press conference on December 26 before their 'SM TOWN WEEK TVXQ - Time Slip.'

Rain′s life has definitely been a roller coaster - and no one is more aware of it than Rain himself.

December 26’s broadcast of Mnet’s Rain Effect showed Rain performing at his Tokyo concert, which was a huge success.

But after the concert, Rain got in his car and learned that bad news about him had been published, and widely spread, and fell silent as he read through the articles.

Inviting all staff and production team members for a dinner after his concert in Japan has ended successfully, Rain talked about his life saying, “My life is like a roller coaster. There’s always ups and downs. A lot of things have happened to me, but I think I should experience many things.”

“The moment I thought I was a cool guy, things got twisted,” continued Rain. “But I don’t think it’s not fair. Or even if I think it’s not fair, I’ve decided not to show it. I’ve decided to take what life throws at me and hope that one day truth will reveal itself.”

“ I can’t always be praised for what I do. If you go up, you come down too. I used to think ‘what am I doing here’ but now I accept criticisms if they’re supported with good reasons but if it’s just criticisms without any reasons, I just let it go,” confessed Rain.

“I work harder for the people who like and support me,” concluded Rain. “The public is like my parents, who gave birth to me, gave me a way to live and to live by the name of ‘Rain.’ They have the right to criticize me and to love me. If people turn the TV on, because they like me or hate me, that gives me a catharsis. I appreciate the fact that they watched me until the end.”
