Ep 46

YCH is like given DW permission to see his birth mother OYH. You can see in DW eyes his reluctance to leave YCH as he stated that he considers her as his only mother. He doesn’t want to let go, but YCH, I believe out of care and maybe guilt, fears that he will be alone.

Then we have DW-OYH meeting. She tells him to continue caring for YCH and forget about blood ties for his own sake. DW’s eyes are not as passionate as with YCH, but you can feel he sympathizes and is caring for OYH.

It’s obvious that both mothers love DW as a son. Both want what is best for him. But unknowingly, both are actually pushing him away leaving him lonely (and maybe even bitter- toward DC,MH?!?).

I’m wondering what are your (guys/girls) thoughts about both scenes?

DW is now facing the alienation that MH experienced after leaving Shin’s and not being accepted by the Lee’s. DW cannot go back to the Lee (for many reasons: insecurity that the real DW is home…), yet he cannot find a sense of belonging towards his own birth parents either. Luckily he was able to find shelter with an unrelated person, the new reporter. ( I like how he did not continue whining about his situation; instead he put on a tough face and went back to work, which is the only thing that is keeping him going, don’t you think so?.. and is he finally going to prosecute STH without hesitation as you see him giving the reporter information regarding TS corruption??)

On the other hand, MH is now finally where he belongs (although I hope he will be united with his son and wife soon). I am sure many agree that if JH left STH house and wanted to get back with MH, he should definitely hold onto her even if it means leaving the Lee’s resident out of respect if not love for JH-yet he does not necessary have to completely disappear from the Lees lives. It maybe easier said than done, but it takes time for people to get to the right places in their lives. Change is necessary but is not an easy transition, that is what I see in MH character, and I admire his fighting spirit in wanting to get back what belongs to him by birth (Lee family). There is nothing wrong with fighting for your rights. It is just the way he went about it that is bothersome-demanding and forcing his way through; the problem with love is that no matter how much you want it, you can never demand it or gain it by force . Well you could, but it won’t truly belong to you. But there is still the hope of time to heal the deep wounds.

As for DW-DC conflict: I don’t think that DW misunderstand DC feeling for MH, but he is just frustrated at the situation. As soon as MH entered the Lee’s home, DW becomes an outsider –In his mind, he is being replaced by the real DW. He is overwhelmed by the feeling of belonging (to the Lees) but having no right to belong.

Now you might think that DW behavior is unreasonable and that he should trust DC and his mother who sacrificed a lot for him. But DW has every right to believe he would be replaced for many reasons: most importantly, it is because he is STH son, the enemy. He is very insecure in that area. “ mother don’t trust me anymore”, “when brother look at me he sees his suffering” “when you look at me you see something else [sTH]” “ why cant you treat me like the old DW”“ don’t look for STH face in mine and don’t look for LKC face in MH”. The last statement is a clear mirror of DW inner struggle/fear. Like I said before, if he was someone else’s son, I don’t think he would have as much right to act the way he does now.

Of course this is one point of view. I love the way the characters/just like in real life depict wide range of emotions that cannot be easily analyzed by few words or looking at one side.

He has to handle troubles within TS, his family continual problems, and now Guk. I hope DW will help him beat Guk. Maybe MH can pitch in as well. In that way DW can repay DC for all his sacrifice and MH can finally form a bond/show support to his newly found brother.

What STH gave DW contained the list of corruption for the previous government.

The current government is doing an anti-corruption campaign to investigate/arrest the previous corrupted government officials.

(Ep 44) DW's boss told him to be careful with the case as the corruption involved previous highest authority.

(Ep 45) DW's boss said in the meeting that as long as their investigation gathered enough proof, they will then be able to prosecute/arrest the previous president and the bribery parties involved (Chun, Guk, etc.) Before DC is released, DW told him clearly that the current government is investigating the bribery of the prosecutor office by the casino (i.e. what DC did for Guk after the change of government; Guk is still bribing the police authorities etc.)

Chung Wae Da did release DC obviously not because they are being bribed/benefited from Guk/DC.

So the possibility could be YR using her own connections with CWD to help DC, or it could also be Jaeng who has connections with some government authorities.

in eps 44- Breif summary wut DW and his boss conversation wuz about:

let me cut it short here i might type all day. we all know the boss said this isn't a case that's should be taken lightly and we should find out who sent this and to a such a young lawyer. this isn't the President KIM YOUNG SAM adimnstration that did anti-corruption campaign and arrested chun do wan, roh tae woo, and all chun's and roh's ex admin officials. and later on relase all of them. Sure President kim dae jung's admin did anti-corruption campaign but not that big as kim youn sam.

i like your thought about how DW feels right now. it's well describe in your writing.

"Loneliness and emptiness" .. an empty space in his heart. a chaos in his minds. "what the hell happening now .." .. and his even not given option to choose. what will he choose if they asked him in first place? instead of ordering/telling him what to do/who to meet.

what will he do .. if they let him decide who is the best for him? perhaps or maybe he will choose both and they will be happy. not suffering like this. keeping the burden alone in his heart.

So it would not be the case that the current government released DC due to bribery/corruption. It would be someone who has good connections with the current government. YR's charity fund project is highly praised and even received a call from CWD office. As for Jaeng, he is not just a NIS agent but some kind of right-hand man for the N Korean president, when he was photographed in the papers.

no, since ep.5 when they were recovering those treasure he wuz NIS agent.

Back then it wuz a time i believe our Best president to date park chung hee or chun money hungry doo hwan ruled. Back in those times in korea 70's- 80's, they'll catch eneyone who is associated with n. korean wut so ever.

people couldn't even say we should united as one korea. if they do they'll be arrested on spot and tried for treason. Back in those days lots of NIS agents wore regular cloths, so u can't tell who's who, and they had them spread all over korea stores, mini malls, restaurants.

also back then NIS agent's were brutual i mean brutual they don't give a damn about u or ur family. Back then NIS only recruited soldier's bekuzz one reason they follow orders.
