;;;; ^ No O_O; They just put on a random song, and everyone (you + 9 other auditioners in the room) have to just move/dance to it.. They want to see if you can follow/pick up a random beat easily.. theyre probably also looking to see who'll stick out the most.
And O_o; They arent taking more email applications? O_O Some people are still getting them though.. O-o It wouldnt make sense since they mentiooned that theyre taking email apps until the day of the audition in your city.. then there are some by the door too.. =|.
and about the shoes... [to everyone else too]: i prolly would NOT wear flip flops cuz it looks unprofessional. Think about it; if u went to an interview, would u be wearing flip flops?
Haha wait O_O is there a difference between flip flops and backless heels? XD; Since O_O Im going for modeling.. Ill be a little dressed up ish.. well not really, but like.. yeah o_O what im thinking of wearing wouldnt match with like sneakers or wahtever;

Since Im going for modeling... Well Im still trying to decide on an outfit, but the shoes I want to wear match with all of them.. Except @__@|| yeah; We have to dance.. And I already can't dance enough as it is;
Speaking of dancing... Do soompiers have an advantage? With all of our threads and discussions and stuff? Because someone mentioned in the past experiences thread that O__O; During the rhythm test, no one really moved because they were embarrassed... liek they didnt know about the section? So.. =O.

I reads omewhere that you have to attach 2 pictures? but O_O im not really sure O_O; you might want to bring some pictures, just in case? and then.. the rest you might fill out like the online application?...
if youre going for singing, maybe you might want to bring a cd of yourself singing just in case? and some pro/portfolio type pictures if your modeling? .. im not sure haha;; but you can bring those just in case O_O; -- you might not need these though, since theyll have all of the auditions recorded on tape.. but yeah O_O just in case;

^ are you auditioning for dancing? because if so, then you choreograph your own dance to whatever song you choose.
however, if youre talking about the rhythm test, where you freestyle -- everyone has to do this -- no one knows what song theyre going to play -- its going to be a random song, and they want to see who can catch on and follow a beat easily, as well as who stands out the most in the group.; you can dance anyway you want to during the freestyle -- you're freestyling.

ooh i forgot is there a weight limit.. for the modeling thing cause i wasn't sure ^o^ so you just do three random poses? and when you go to the audition you are suppose to bring a picture right?
Addy answered your question.. but ye.. O_O if they think you have talent or whatever, your weight wouldnt matter, because youd lose a lot in the training program.. im still trying to figure out what 'talent in modeling' would be though O_O;;
koreangrlx and HUAH, i did the same thing: i went to smtown and then i clicked audition (world wide) and then i clicked english and thats what came up... and i knew there was something different about it.. so what sholud i do?
i think they changed the info that needs to be in the application.

I think that's the only model walk there is. Not too sure about modeling though. But I do know that you pose three poses and hold each pose for ten seconds.
I'm actually not too sure if we have to walk.. People mentioned that they didnt have to walk.. but ye O_O practice up on it just in case?
^ are the three poses supposedly what they show you or you make up the pose yourself?
And ye. Make the pose up yourself. Imagine yourself at a photoshoot or something -- they wouldn't tell you to pose in certain ways.. you'd have to pose naturally... O_O;

I have a question (asked before but no answer T_T XD)::
If you sing and you 'wow' the judges but dance terribly for the rhythm test, could you still be chosen even if you sucked at the rhythm test and just...say, tapped your toe? XD
Haha;; I think no one really asnwered this before because no one here really knows what the judges are looking for;; haha but like someone just mentioned... and I guess I should follow this advice too -- just do your best. xD look at Heechul haha T_T; So.. Ye, they can always teach you.. If you have the talent O_O~
No height requirement. But honestly, a lot of SM models are tall. Like, 165 cm (5'6"- 5'7")
O__O. That's tall? xD /crosses fingers and hope that they'd like some taller female models xD.

^ hahah yes, you are required to dance.. For the RHYTHM TEST -- its just for 30 sefconds, you freestyle with like the other 9 auditioners in the room.. its to see fi you can follow/catch on to a random rhythm easily.. and to see who stands out the most too~;
EVERYONE is required to dance for the Rhythm Test, regardless of what you're auditioning for. (even if you're auditioning for dancing, you still do this freestyle. Your dance that your auditioning for should be choreographed though)

^ You can sing anything you want. Probably better thaty ou sing the anime themes than BoA songs.
Honestly, it's just an audition. Don't go out of your way and spend money. Just be casual. Be yourself. They're interested in your talent and think of it that way. Just... go the way you go to school. If you cake up in makeup for school- tone down and just apply light foundation and lip gloss. Not like double eyelid tape, thick thick mascara, thick lines of eyeliner, etc. And if you dress sloppy for school- then... just wear your cleanest sloppy clothes? haha, I don't know.
I don't suggest a hat. It may cover your eyes but it for sure will cover your forehead. I don't get why people think wearing glasses for the audition is... questionable. If you wear it, then wear it. Don't try to hide anything. SM either likes you or they don't. I doubt they'd be like, "she's a good singer... but i hate her glasses. Four eyes are so... ugh. Forget the fact that four members of DBSG wear contacts- and Jungsu from SuJu also wears glasses..."
XD youre hilarious ^^. And yeah.. good point about glasses.. because.. yeah. Haha I, myself, was questioning them.. I was bothering my ma to get my contacts... But ye. =O. If SM likes me, they can help me get contacts themselves. XDD. ;

I didn't know they preferred studio pictures...that's good I guess.
I thought that a body shot would be needed since SM prefers skinny people.

FOR DANCING:
Don't they put on like some hip hop/techno music and you just have to freestyle dance to it?
Or do they grab a group of people and make you learn a dance and you have to do it right then and there?
Also, if you and your friend put in the application at the exact same time, would you two be together at auditions, or would it be different?
Uhm.. If youre going for modeling, I think they prefer studio pictures.. other than that.. You can probably send a normal photo.. They might use it just to see who are you on your apps or something? Iuno.. But like.. how you would normally include lyrics if youre going to be a composer, or a clip of yourself singing if youre going to auditioning for singing, they sorta want studio pictures/portfolio type thing if youre going for modeling...

yoonkoh - Yeah, it's probaby fine.. I'm like.. xD 5'8.5", and I think (well depending on what outfit I wear) I'm going to wear a my heels -- which are like 2-2.5"...
ABOUT SINGING -- xDD. Uhm. I dont know if you have to sing if you're not auditioning for singing.. I didnt think we had to, but someone said that you have to sing, no matter what you audition for at a Malaysian Kpop forum, where they'd already auditioned.. But we'll see when the first auditions come up.. =O.
Anyway.. I think that... Well. I'd stick with a song with notes I could reach xDD... But that's if we had to sing, along with auditioning for whatever else.. If i were to only audition for singing, I'd definitely choose a song that showed my vocal range (if I had one...)
spark0722 - The script does not have to be in Korean -- however it's preferred... Since, if you made it, you'd be in Korea, with Korean shows/programs/etc ... xD But yeh, English is fine~.. ^ I am pretty sure that everyone has to dance.. just a 30-60 second freestyle, and everyone goes at the same time...
I'm sure enough, judging from the times people mentioned in here that we have to do the freestyle dance... and also, in a Malaysian kpop forum where they've already had auditions, they said that you have to freestyle~;

Although these wouldnt be pro.. Do you guys have photography classes or whatnot in your school? I think that when schools in session, Im going to ask if some of the students can take pictures ;; for me;;; XD;

Uhmm O_O. I read through this thread that they make you walk (like runway ness?)** and freeposing (come up with 3 poses, you have to hold them 10 secondseach, they take pictures of you)...
As stated on the first page, make up is not preferred -- they like to see your natural face.. and you can probably wear any shoes you want =].
Im not sure if you need a body shot.. If youre going for modeling, then its probably preffered? But otherwise.. it doesnt really matter?
T__T I want to audition.. for modeling.. perhaps.. T__T but gosh. I live 5 hrs away from the closest place. T__T;

and lastly. ALL of us are required to dance to a song provided by SM.

Are they going to have another audition in New York next year? And another question is that, if you send in a picture, should it be professional or just a regular picture?
Can you wear Jeans/sweatpants to the audition? Isn't it a bit hard to dance in skirt?
About the picture thing -- It semi-depends on what you're auditioning for... You can send in a regular picture (digital or whatever-- remember: no webcam/cell phones, etc, and NO PHOTOSHOPPING) -- however they probably would prefer professional? Like for modeling, they definitely would... O_O (does that answer your question?)
And -- Yes, you can wear anything you want xD. Of course. Haha but =O You probably want to stray away from sweatpants -- As mentioned in previous pages of this thread, they like the innocent student image or whatever.. A lot of people mentioned school uniforms -- but then again, we're in the US so not all of the schools have uniforms... So wear something you would wear to school -- but not too showy .. (actually, Im sorta confused about this because people also mentioned "wear something you wouldn't wear at home" -- but perhaps thats just talking about the sweats or whatever?)
I wanted to try out the "rhythm" thing, where you just play a random song. So i put on that Kangta song "Scandal" which I've never heard before. And decided to try it. So this thing was made up on the spot.

T__T; I think you dance well (coming from another person with no dance experience) -- I think if I could dance like you, I'd be set xD;. Mmm. I see some moves repeated but its fine xD; -- And, just a thought, when you freestyle, it's giong to be with all of the 9-19 other people in the room, so the judges wont always be watching you -- xD so maybe theyd miss repeats =D.
About acting -- No, I think they'd actually prefer the script to be in Korean O_O. Since you'd be an actress in Korea and you'd be on Korean shows and whatnot xD; So you'd probably want to prepare something in Korean? Or if you aren't Korean, I dont think they'd mind English... Chinese might even work too (since there are a few judges there that can speak/understand Mandarin.) ... What do you mean O_O bring a clip from the movie/show?

Kay so Im going to attempt to answer these questions because I only read them liek 23958 times in the previous 22 pages so ye O_o.
You can do any kind of dance -- show your style... And your dance can last up to 3-4 minutes I think? You can dance to a whole song.. maybe O_O;
And if you're auditioning for dancing, you do both --
1) make sure you bring your own music that you've choreographed a dance to (again, this probably'll last 3-4 minutes? You can dance to the whole song I think --- (Someone correct me if Im wrong) and
2) everyone that goes -- no matter what they're going for -- acting, singing, dancing, or modeling -- has to freestyle to the rhythm test. (You dont know what they're going to play, so thus it's freestyling - they want to make sure you can catch on to rhythms and beats) The rhythm test lasts 2 minutes.. (And I think all of the auditioners in the room at the time -- the group of 10 or 20 -- dance all at the same time.)

Plastic surgery is a nonononono for me. XD. Although I hate my nose and stuff.. I wouldnt mind a makeover loll =O. But ye O__O How do they train you to be a model?
Oh =O Itd be so cool to make it and learn Korean xD T__T; Well actually O_O Do you think they would find this a turnoff nessish? Im Taiwanese.. and my Mandarins okay.. I can speak and understand it (but I dont really speak it around the house or anywhere T__T)... I can't read or write it.. As for my Korean, I taught myself how to read and write it, but I can't understand it.. I know some words and phrases though.. but ye O_o the only thing Im reallyreally fluent in is English.. .-.;
And I was wondering.. only like a few people mentioned things about playing instruments O_O' ... ?

Oh gosh;; some of you guys @__@;; really should go through some of the previous pages;;
Well O_o what if the dance that you learn doesnt follow the beat of the song? That wouldnt help at all. You wont know what song therye going to put on.. you just have to freestyle to it.. follow the rhythm.. pretend your at a school dance or something.. you wont know what song's going to be next; you just dance to it (although keep it appropriate for SM haha @_@) You only get 30 seconds .. so I dont know how fast you can think of a routine.. just go with the flow.
Yeah O_O... You should have a part of a script memorized.. you can start anywhere with it.. if it starts emotionally, then start emotionally.. if it starts slow, then you start slow (although pick up the pace fast because you only get a minute or so to impress the judges)... And it can be from anything.. although Korean is preferred, since, if you made it, youd be an actress in Korea... But it can be in English too.. or Chinese, etc...
I heard there was an email audition O_O; And if you can show them that youre good enough in that, then theyll try to set up a private audition for you...
To the next round.. so I'm assuming you're in one of the .. 4.. or so cities that have final rounds? O_O theyll probably contact you soon after your audition to tell you... (Like O_O; NY auds are on a sunday, and the saturday at the end of the week is my birthday the final audition.. so they'd probably contact whoever made it super soon...) ... If you dont have a final audition to go to, then you'll be notified within 3 weeks after your audition..
