Synopsis
Gong Yoo (Coffee Prince), Kim Go Eun (Cheese in the Trap) and Lee Dong Wook (Blade Man, My Girl) star in a supernatural romance that proves love can find its way past anything, including death. Kim Shin (Gong Yoo) is an immortal “goblin,” and has the rather honorable title of being the Protector of Souls. His roommate Wang Yeo (Lee Dong Wook) also happens to have the equally lofty, if thoroughly opposing, title of Angel of Death, and he acts as the storied grim reaper that claims souls. However, both these devilishly handsome angels have a problem: Wang Yeo has amnesia and Kim Shin wants to end his own (immortal) life. Unfortunately for goblins, the only way to defeat immortality is to marry a human bride. For that purpose, Kim Shin decides to win over Ji Eun Tak (Kim Go Eun) an optimistic high school girl who he thinks will be the priestess that ends his cursed existence. Once responsible for protecting souls and watching them pass, Kim Shin now tries to send his own to the afterlife. But when a slightly complicated method of suicide starts turning into true love, will our immortal goblin begin to regret his decision--where acting on that very love ultimately means the end of his life?
Adding to the drama are Kim Sun (One More Happy Ending star Yoo In Na), a sweet chicken shop owner who falls for the Angel of Death, and Yoo Duk Hwa (BtoB member and School 2015 actor Yook Sung Jae), a wealthy heir who happens to be Kim Shin’s nephew with a penchant for rebellion.
script Reading
The first script reading for the drama took place on August 30, 2016 at the Nuri Dream Square in Sangamdong, Seoul, South Korea, with filming began in September 2016.
This romantic, supernatural tvN drama is being partly filmed in Quebec City, Canada and will be Gong Yoo’s return to the small screen since his last drama four years ago, Big. Are you excited to see him back in action?

I've feeling it'll be successful ,hit drama too but it won't be like " TLOTBS " since it has two big names and hallyu stars and we should accept it and i want tell you something successful drama doesn't need actors in their 20s i mean look at gong hyo jin , Ha ji won dramas are successful and they're in late 30s
successful dramas need good cast, good plot and our drama"Goblin" has these aspects and if really this writer , director portray characters as we read it 'll be hit

i'm gong yoo fan but i'm waiting for GY LDW chemistry together too i read all comments about this drama in Korean , English , Arabic all are waiting for GY, LDW scenes together more than love lines in this drama
And i guess they use GY pics videos just to attract all korean attention after he became 10 million actor and 2 hit movies in the same year but i don't think GY 'll be happy from that because he said many times he doesn't like one man show
Honestly, until now i feel TVN doesn't 've promotion plan they just release some videos and pics of gong yoo all didn't tell any thing about his character or drama i just loved video of script reading , video of GY when he said you'll meet furious God
so let wait and see , it's so early to judge them now especially the writer is KES , she knows how to attract fans

The upcoming Fri-Sat drama, fully 'The Lonely and Brilliant - Goblin' (called 'Goblin' for short), is a fantasy romance genre story depicting the lives of an immortal goblin who wants to die (played by Gong Yoo), a grim reaper with memory loss (played by Lee Dong Wook), and a girl who was supposed to have died and who claims to be the "goblin's bride" (played by Kim Go Eun).
It's been reported that to best depict himself as the fantastic creature named Kim Shin, Gong Yoo took part in analyzing each outfit, accessory, and prop, raising anticipation for how his acting will pull through in the new role.

In this article they compare the most popular writers in Korea now Kim Eun Sook and Park ji Eun
And mentioned that "The legend of blue sea" sold to china for $500000 per each episode , DOTS sold for $270000 per episode and it's expected "Goblin" to be sold to China higher than DOTS

Unfortunately most fans love flower boys , cheesy lines that's why many good actors like lee dong wook gong yoo Jo in sung aren't so popular like lee min hoo , song joong ki but for me I don't care about popularity I care only about good project
My advice to LDW is to do what GY did he should focus on movies more than dramas
k movies are perfect and show true talents and it's reason why GY a list star now
Or he should choose dramas like signal , it's okay that's love with great plot
Finally I wish Goblin 'll be popular and successful so he can shine again
