Guys, this International version vs SBS version is driving me crazy.

We really need to watch both versions to understand sometimes, because both complementing each other. Can someone please PM me where I can watch the SBS version? I am from the USA, so one of popular site that host the SBS version is not available to my region. I feel it is not right that some channels are paying for the right to air the show but do not get the same version. Their editing is disappointing :tears:...

myasiantv and kissasian have the sbs version.

I usually watch the international version.

i already watched both version, international and sbs. when i saw internatioal version, i feel like the editing was too rough and it's a bit bothersome to me. from one scene to another jump just like that. but then i watched sbs version, and the story flow beautifully. and many things, eventhough it's just a small and short scene but important, missing in international version. like when haesoo keep repeated writing wangso's poem and then she cry (there's no scene haesoo cry after that in intl version), or when jung tried to stop the revolt but his mother stopped him. that answer me when watch international version, where is jung at that time.

so i guess you should watch both version in order to get a bigger picture about this drama. yes, it is bother me at first that they aired two version, but now i thrill waiting for the sbs version each eps, because i always watch each episode repeatedly anyway.. as if i'm watching eps 14 part two ;D

for those who doesn't know yet, i watch sbs version in myasiantv.net and for international version you can watch it in any other site.

let's counting hours for next eps and be prepare...

I really should download both version then. Ah, what this drama has done to me.

@UnniSarah If HS had let WS find Jung, would that have changed anything? Jung would have given WS the same excuse and WS didn't have any reason to think his brother would lie to him. Actually, I'm confused why Jung went through the trouble running away from WS and the guards.

Or, if Mu felt unwell every time he took a bath, why would he continued to take baths at Damiwon (sp?)?

I actually thought the same with you but I'm ignoring the weakness because it still has so many nice things going on.

I also think how could they not be able to differentiate between the mercury's smell and herb's smell, and how come the physician could not tell at all the effect of mercury poisoning and just tell them that it's because lack of sleep, are they stupid? Unless they explained that maybe Wook paid that physician to do that kind of diagnose, then I'm not buying it. I think they just want to quickly kill the king to move on to next, since Wang So is the main that they want to explore.

What's better? The SBS version or the international ver?

    Watch both. :)

At first, when I heard the news about this series, I thought it will just be another typical period drama, where the conflict is simple but drag on and on, and they will simply have all the eye candies to fill the hour, but then this drama turns out as a very well written drama and quickly rose as my favorite. Meanwhile, Love in The Moonlight end up with that kind of typical plot and it frustrated me, thus made me watching it less and less.

I'm sorry to say but for me a well written story is very important for me to follow one drama through until the end. I have dropped many series before despite their popularity if I had dissatisfaction on the plot. The casts' acting is important but a drama should have both in order to grab my heart. And this drama has done well in both. They may have mostly young casts but do very to quite well in their acting.

    So kudos to everyone.

Ratings is really not important, because I have watched many dramas with low ratings that turned out as very well made dramas (i.e. I Remember You/Hello Monster). I just consider It as a loss for the people who don't appreciate those dramas, and just spend hours of their time to watch other dramas instead just because of drama's popularity.

This is random but after watching both versions today, I noticed there were different sequences of some scenes and some scenes were added/cut and the music was a little different too. I think the international version was better lol the editing was oddly better, it had lesser unnecessary scenes and it had a better flow so I recommend you'all to watch the international version today.

      Hide contents

p.s this is just my opinion but I wish they stop editing anymore or edit it in a better way now that the story is in its critical part and is near to its climax lol I kinda think they tend to go overboard sometimes adding in some unnecessary scenes that do not contribute to the plot or prolonging some scenes, I hope they don't ruin what they originally planned to show at this important part of the story by their editing because its a really good story.

But I clearly think that the scenes which are not available in the international version are necessary for the plot. For example when Wang Won told Chae Ryung that he bring more mercury, it connects to the scene where Chae Ryung was scared when she put more herbs for the king. Okay I know it's not that important because we already could connect the dot with Yo, Wook, and Won's conversation.

But the second part, where Jung wear his armor to go out and protect the king after finding out Yo's plan for revolt answer my question, I was wondering when I watch the international version, why Jung doesn't show up or say anything, and I could only assume he has sided with his hyung, Yo, right when he's meeting him in the temple. With this scene, at least I could know that he's stopped by his mom.

The last scene where Wang So confront Wook knowing his sceme of slowly gaining favor from the officials showed that So is not that clueless or ignorant about Wook's intention. And the fact that he admits his short-hand knowledge on political strategy compare to Wook, might become a reason for him to learn fast to catch up to Wook if he wants to stand a chance against the trio (Yo, Wook, and Won) and protect Hae Soo.

So takes advantage of all them and explains things to her in a way that she finds the entire marriage business not only acceptable but a good indication of the type of person So is. We knew these two would be good together once they got together but their maturity in handling the change of their relationship from friends to lovers is awesome.

The more important question for me is "When will I meet this friends-for-life" type of guy?"

I guess Soo will know pretty much who is the mastermind behind the poisoning and it all clicks together when she remembered that CR is the one she trusts to do the job taking care of the King. I just wish that whatever happens after that, she will take everything with a grain of salt.

I hope so. No need to blame herself for anything. Not anyone dies because of her, they just make their own choice. Wook's turning evil is his choice, it's not because of Soo or So. Even if Soo is not in the picture, Wang Moo will still die, Yo will still kill 10th prince to secure his position. Even when she said, she's not going to let anyone get hurt, but the truth is she is powerless and there's nothing she could do about it.

  8. I am very glad that this drama doesn't take the typical plot of korean drama "I don't want to listen to your explanation" which drag on the obvious misunderstanding for few episodes. It just jump right on to solve one misunderstanding and the others (just on this episode, there are already 2 misunderstanding) and both are solved right away. Just listen, be honest, and trust, that's it, problem solved. I hope they will keep it like this until the end.

So I dislike the idea that people suggest here that many kinds of misunderstanding will break Hae Soo and Wang So up. No matter what, I want a better plot, something that I could apprehend and accept fully, without a smirk saying "it's just a little issue like this and you're breaking up already?"

I hope the writer show that She could come up with a better plot than anyone could think of, and that would make her the best writer she is.

I think Hae Soo will understand, she's not that stupid. I even think she will blame herself for it.

The Unbearable Worthlessness of the Throne

“Everyone risks their lives for that seat. The king threw Court Lady Oh aside in order to protect that seat. And you, Your Highness, will have to fight your brothers. It is a scary seat. ”

Episode 13 BELONGED to Wang So, but what’s more, it’s the final confirmation that Wang So is the complete opposite of the 4th Prince from the novel/cdrama; and thus also the opposite of his own father who has served as Yinzhen’s dead ringer throughtout the whole story (multiple wives and children, throwing his one true love away for power, thinking about her on his death bed,..). It’s something that has been hinted from the very beginning - Yinzhen’s immense pride, arrogance and ego combined with his insatiable hunger for the throne defined his character. He always put the throne before RX. On the other hand, WANG UTTERLY LACKS THOSE PERSONALITY TRAITS. Yinzhen craved the throne from the start and was prepared to sacrifice everything in order to get it, BUT WANG SO NEVER DESIRED IT, NOT EVEN FOR A MOMENT. HE WOULD THROW EVERYTHING AWAY - THE THRONE, HIS POSITION OF A PRINCE, HIS FAMILY, IF ONLY HE CAN HAVE HAE SOO.

“I am not the king nor will I become one… I, too, will live like a person now.”

(”I need power. The only thing that can fulfill my insatiable hunger is the throne.”) “I’m not that kind of person. I’m the opposite of the kind of person you want.”

So’s disregard for the throne and the king’s position is present in all his interactions with people - YH, Wook, Hae Soo, his father,… That’s why it DOESN’T MAKE SENSE THAT HE WOULD BREAK UP WITH HS FOR THE SAME REASONS THE 4TH BROKE UP WITH RX.

“Then can I have a person’s heart, as well? If I become king, will the heart I so desire become mine? You asked if I am going to become king. If so I will do it. I will become king…To me, that is all it is.

The throne room scene is so poignantly symbolic of EVERYTHING THAT DEFINES WANG SO AS A CHARACTER - THE THRONE, THE EPITOME OF ULTIMATE POWER, IS IN FRONT OF HIM, WITHIN HIS REACH, BUT HE ISN’T EVEN TEMPTED AND HE NEVER STOPS LOOKING AT HAE SOO.Together with his conversation with YH it’s the final proof that he couldn’t care less about the throne because IT DOESN’T HAVE THE POWER TO GIVE HIM THE ONE THING HE TRULY DESIRES - HAE SOO’S HEART - WHICH IS PRICELESS TO HIM AND HE CHERISHES IT ABOVE EVERYTHING. A man who treasures a woman’s heart above all the power in the world. The throne IS JUST A CHAIR TO HIM, WORTHLESS.

I want to be with you in peace, with nothing getting in our way. If that can’t happen being king or whatever else has no meaning to me.”

After the life he lead So knows exactly what he wants, which things matter and which are meaningless. EVERYTHING HE WANTS IS TO LIVE FREELY WITH SOO.

“Without Soo, there would have been no future for me at all. Now that I’ve said that, it’s become clear now. I am nothing without her.”

Soo is So’s sun, the centre of his universe, and his world begins and ends with her. SHE IS HIS GREATEST VICTORY. In the end, it realys is true that BEHIND EVERY GREAT MAN IS A GREAT WOMAN, standing by his side. She will be erased from history, Queen Daemok, WHO WILL REIGN AS A GOD OVER THE NEW KING ONCE GWANGJONG DIES, WILL TAKE CARE OF IT. NO ONE WILL REMEMBER HER, EXCEPT FOR ONE PERSON - THE MAN WHO WASN’T ABLE TO THROW HER AWAY HIS WHOLE LIFE AND SHE WILL FOREVER LIVE ON IN HIS HEART. IN THAT WAY, SHE WILL BECOME IMMORTAL.

I hope the korean remake took this plot. Since the beginning I started watching this series, I was wondering what Wang So's life as Gwangjong would become with Hae Soo in the picture. I kinda justified how he turned cruel is caused by the cruel treatment he received, the love he never had, the understanding he never received, the thought that if he had power he would no longer be treated carelessly. So his thirst for power began from all those.

But then, now he get that understanding and love he craves, from Hae Soo, and he even get support from Wang Moo, Ji Mong, Baek Ah. His life has been better. He's now not trying to hide his smile, He knows better that this is the life he wants, so I'm really hoping we get to see a better Gwangjong with Hae Soo by his side. Or they can reunite again 1000 years in the future. It's too cruel to say history couldn't be changed cause I believe people's action were influenced by the situation surround him. No one was born evil or good right from the beginning. It is the upbringing which decide how a person behave.

So I will keep hoping that the writer will have the same thought, I don't even need the writer to follow the novel. I hope the writer can make this series to be remembered for its lesson in life. Power struggle for the throne is not something interesting for me. I want the focus of this drama is about life's choice. Like how Wook choose to become, So should choose the otherwise.

@dears Today was nuts lol. I had work in the morning and when I got home, I studied for an exam. By the time, I got on Soompi, I had to back read and forward read. Can you believe it? I multi-quoted about 50 post...:joy: I like to watch more too but if something comes up in my mind, I'll write something.

That's why I said you're so diligent.

You must be tired but you still manage to write something. But I guess when you like something, it becomes something to relieve your stress and you don't feel tired at all to do something you like.

While for me, aside from working, I'm just laying around in bed with my laptop, watching dramas then browsing and like some comments, and write short reply or comment.
