The Cast of Descendants of the Sun Head to Script Reading at KBS Studios
The train is leaving the station for upcoming K-drama Descendants of the Sun faster thanSong Joong Ki changed out of his military fatigues. The cast gathered this week at KBS studios (featured prominently in currently airing KBS variety industry drama Producer) for the script reading, the arrival walk which normally isn’t covered by the media unless it involves a drama written by buzzy scribe Kim Eun Sook, stars just out of the military nation’s beloved young actor Song Joong Ki, and paired with top actress Song Hye Kyo.The four leads were snapped heading into the studio for the table read, with the two leading ladies Song Hye Kyo and Kim Ji Won managing to look ravishing even dressed down. Mostly movie actor Jin Goo rounds out the main four, making it a very eclectic and intriguing cast for what is billed as Kim Eun Sook’s most ambitious drama to date. Fully pre-produced, mostly shot overseas, this drama is either going to soar or crash and burn. My money is on it working, mostly because I can’t see Song Joong Ki not making the most of his first post-military role and selling the Kim Eun Sook type male lead with an underlying kinder twist.

Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo Have Great Start with Script Reading for “The Descendant of the Sun”
Song Joong Ki, who was just recently discharged from the military, is already back in the thick of things, with his first script reading for the upcoming KBSdrama “The Descendant of the Sun,” also starring Song Hye Kyo.
According to a source who was at the reading, “Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo showed great chemistry, and it was a lot of fun. The actors suit their roles extremely well.”
Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo play special forces soldier Yoo Shi Jin and doctor Kang Mo Yeon, respectively.
The reading was sought out by more press than usual, evidencing the sheer level of interest for this drama, being Song Joong Ki’s comeback drama, in which he is accompanied by A-list actress Song Hye Kyo.
Moreover, the drama is penned by “The Heirs” writer Kim Eun Sook and directed by Lee Eung Bok, who was at the megaphone for “Secret.”

Correct. The dispute was after <Speedy Scandal> and before <Don't Click> But the good thing about that long break is that she was able to finished her studies. And now we are seeing her mooooore often~^^

+ First script reading will be on 28th or 29th.
+ Song Joong Ki, Song Hye Kyo, Jin Goo, Kim Ji Won, Onew(Shinee), Suh Jing Yeon and Kang Shin Il will attend the script reading.
+ The filming will be starting in June and SJK will join them in July.
+ After they finish filming in Korea, they are planning to go overseas such as Greece for filming.

Kim Eun Sook on Hand to Welcome Her Next Leading Man Song Joong Ki Out of the Army
This could either be taken as super cute or super nervewracking for Song Joong Ki. The young man (not a boy any longer even if he still looks like one) was released from the army this past Monday morning and on hand was not just his devoted fans and the excited K-media. Hidden in the throngs of welcomers was none other than famed drama screenwriter Kim Eun Sook. The fans and media recognized Kim Eun Sook despite her wearing sunglasses and trying to look as inconspicuous as possible, which was probably due to her bringing a big poster of Song Joong Ki as The Werewolf Boy with her LOL.
Her showing up does lend credence to the industry chatter that she actually wrote Descendants of the Sun‘s male lead with Song Joong Ki in mind, and was dead set on him from the beginning so much so that the production was pushed back so he could be discharged from the military and do it. I don’t know how much of that is true but Kim Eun Sook is certainly very happy to have Song Joong Ki out of the army now that he is confirmed to be the male lead of DotS. So are we, Kim Eun Sook, so are we all. Check out a few screencaps below from Song Joong Ki looking totally shocked to hear Kim Eun Sook was on hand to her trying to blend into the greenery.

@MaknaeC You know it, dear! I was so happy when I saw that Korean article yesterday night, and now Dramabeans already wrote it so I'm now just hoping for them to confirm!
My wish didn't come true in OH MY GHOST, but now I have another chance! HAHA! And I also want to see Park Bo Young a LOT from now on since she was on break for a looong time before (if you remember her contract dispute with Humane Ent.) and she didn't have much project after A WEREWOLF BOY. Our Boyoungiee deserve it since she's a good actress (which everyone knows)~^^ -

Song Joong Ki Receives Glowing Performance Review from Military Source
Actor Song Joong Ki was discharged from the army on May 25, and a source from his battalion has provided some insights into what the star was like in the military.
The source says, “While Song Joong Ki was serving in the reconnaissance battalion of the 22nd Division, he completed all the required training with the other soldiers, without any different treatment. He also carried out several recon and stakeout operations in the DMZ.”
“Song Joong Ki has been discharged after doing exceptional work while he was in the army,” they add. “He completed all the dangerous training without it being obvious that he was a celebrity or that he was older than most soldiers.”
Congratulations, Song Joong Ki, and welcome back!

The 51st Baeksang Arts Awards were held at Kyung Hee University on May 26. Hallyu stars Lee Min Ho, Park Shin Hye and Krystal were present to receive their awards in the Most Popular divisions. When they took the stage to accept their honors, there was a notable presence of the 2013 teen drama, "The Heirs."
Park Shin Hye was the recipient of the Most Popular Actress in Film award for her performance in "The Royal Tailor." While the performers on the stage for the fan choice awards represented previously appeared in "The Heirs," her "Pinocchio" co-star Lee Jong Suk was also the recipient of honors in the popularity division. He received the Most Popular Actor in Television award for "Pinocchio" but was not present for the ceremony due to overseas promotional activities.

I'm not 100% sure but I think it says here that both Park Bo Young and Kang Ha Neul received an offer earlier today (May 26, 2015) for the lead roles for melodrama(?) film "Your Wedding". I think both of their agencies confirmed that they are currently reviewing the offer~
