“What if I can change it? I can prevent accidents from happening. I can turn bad into good or… I could help change King Gwangjong’s future. I can do it. I won’t ignore it. I won’t let anyone become unhappy. ”

HAE SO IS PLAYING GOD NOW! She wants to change history she knows basically nothing about; she is talking about everyone as if they were mere human chess pieces she could control and manipulate according to her will; and selfishly change their life just because of a couple of sentences she vaguely remembers from her history lesson at high school, BUT SHE DOESN’T HAVE THE RIGHT TO DO THAT, NEITHER DOES SHE HAVE THE RIGHT TO JUDGE GWANGJONG’S ACTIONS, at least not without knowing the truth behind them.

“I’m most scared of myself. Not you, Your Highness.”  - Hae Soo (EP04)

In the end, Hae Soo was right - she just might be the scariest person out there because the most dangerous people are those who are guided by half-truths and in their ignorance act on them. Because in her desperation to prevent all the terrible things she thinks will happen, she causes something much worse.

“If you leave like this the 10th Prince loses his chance to apologize. You will all grow apart. You’re brothers, right?” - Hae Soo (EP07)

“Beware of Prince So. Beware of Prince So. Avoid him. Do not get in his way. If you do you will all die.” - Hae Soo (EP09)

Ironically, it’s Hae Soo who makes the brothers grow apart in the end. She sows the seeds of doubt in Wook’s mind, SETTTING UP ONE BROTHER AGAINST ANOTHER WITH IT AND INITIATING THE STRIFE OF THE PRINCES, VIRTUALLY STARTING A WAR WITH HER ACTIONS - just because of some visions she doesn’t even know whether they are true or not, and hazy memory of her history lessons. She is basically accusing an innocent man of crimes he hasn’t committed. Hasn’t she ever heard about presumption of innocence?! It’s as if she has completely forgotten he is the person who was ready to fight the whole world for her. But fate is a swift richard simmons - as a punishment for betraying and not believing in the man who trusted her so completely and who laid his heart to her feet, and for not realizing she is falling for him, she will lose him in the end.

“What about Prince Wook? What happens to him?” - Hae Soo (EP09)

    “I was 11 years old. When I first took a life… I was 11 years old.” - Wook (EP03)

She is so ready to see So as the ultimate villain, but HS has actually never seen him kill anyone. She did see Wook kill, though, but strangely she isn’t doubting him or being afraid of him, even though the truth is SHE DOESN’T KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT HIM. She doesn’t know him from history nor does she know anything about HIM because he never told her about his goals and ambitions.

He is AS RUTHLESS AND MERCILESS KILLER AS WANG SO IS, maybe even more so because SO DOESN’T HIDE IT under facade of refinement and kindness. Wook’s story about his first kill shows he was exposed to violence and has been killing people since a very early age - and something like that leaves traces; it would twist anyone. That’s the first hint of Wook’s inner darkness.

Thank you for speaking my mind. I thought the exact same thing after watching the latest episode but didn't know how to transcribe it into such a coherent and compelling analysis as yours :)

To tell the truth, I read some earlier posts justifying HS's reactions towards WS and found them all reasonable and convincing. Yet, I can't help but still get a feeling of disappointment, discontent and even irritation at the way HS is treating WS. That makes me wonder whether I'm being irrational and unfair for staying mad at HS, despite knowing that her behaviors are understandable. Therefore, I was hesitant to post my opinion on that matter.

Now after I've finished reading your post, I just want to share my two cents here. HS's sudden change of heart in ep 9 left me speechless really. It's really ironic, isn't it? That she has gone back on every single word she spoke to WS. Just a moment ago when she was helping him cover up his scar, she promised him she wouldn't change if she received his trust. Then a vision of Qwangjong poped up in her head and she started freaking out. A few days later, another vision flashed through her mind, this time of WS killing WE, and she went straight to panic mode without even questioning if what she saw was a mere illusion or a product of her imagination (or of her shallow historical knowledge). WS, on the other hand, has no idea what he's done so wrong that she keeps trembling in front of him and wants to push him away. My heart aches when watching HS blurt out to WS that she wants him to leave and that he's gonna destroy everything in the end. I remember during that scene she also said something like she thought she could change things but she was wrong. However, if my memory serves me right, she hasn't done anything since the first vision she had about King Qwangjong and nothing severe has actually happened at this point for her to think that way. Suppose that she did try to save things but she failed eventually, what she said to WS would've made more sense and I would be less upset. Well, it may not be her fault but a weakness in the plot that makes her character appear like a fickle person and stirs up a controversy over her turning back on WS.

Yes you're absolutely right. The one who broke the fragile bond between WS and his brothers is HS herself but unfortunately, she is unable to realize that at her current state. Her warnings linger in Wook's mind and he seems to take them seriously. HS's words make him more aware of WS, whom he had considered powerless and somewhat pitiful before, and he will keep an eye on his 4th brother from now on, that's for sure.

I read somewhere on this thread (or maybe on other forums, I just can't remember) that HS's efforts to save the other Princes, especially her dear WW, might lead her to the decision to stay by WS's side. I don't want this theory to come true at all because it would be so unfair and cruel for WS. I'd rather see my ship of HS-WS sink into deep water than see HS approach WS with something up her sleeve. He loves her sincerely and wholeheartedly so unless she can return that love with the same affections, she shouldn't be together with him.

Sorry about my rambling but I have kept these thoughts to myself since I finished ep 9 and just want to have somewhere to share them out. Anyway, as IU said ep 11 is gonna be a fun ep, I'm looking forward to some brighter moments for our So-Soo couple. HS will calm down and be back to her normal self. Hope that after WS sacrifices himself by drinking poisoned tea to save her, she will be able to realize her true feelings for him, otherwise it would be a huge disappointment to us :<

I hope they wont completely exclude this beautiful scene. Let it be : WS ask her to give him the answer and HS said if they are fated, they will meet at the festival and will recognize each other if they are fated.

Me too. I'm praying for this scene to be aired in one of the upcoming episodes. Editors pls pls don't let me down by cutting it out of both international and SBS versions! This beautiful romantic moment of HS-WS is what I've been eagerly looking forward to (I even set it as my profile photo on this forum), so I would feel a sense of betrayal if they decided to remove it. Our So-Soo couple need a cute, bright moment like this before things get harder for them later on. I truly hope that my humble wish would be granted.

By the way, I like your theory about HS-WS dating at the festival ^^ Yes they're destined for each other so there's no doubt that one person will be able to recognize the other (based on IU's expression in the leaked photo I guess it's WS who approaches HS and surprises her with the mask kiss :D )

Yes I agree with you. And honestly since So has only ever wanted her love and now she's giving it to him (for her own benefit and plan) I feel like it's very hard for him to not fall for it. The revelation that she is actually treating him with love and like her own child will make him so happy cause that's what he's been seeking from her his whole life. I mean he's even killed people and kept her plan to assassinate the Crown Prince under the wraps. It's so hard to watch her puppeteer people around like that I really just want someone to put her in her place UGHHHH this evil lady.

I know it would be hard for him not to waver as her love and recognition are what he has always been yearning for. Yet, even if there's only a glimmer of hope I still want to hold onto it because I don't want to see him being hurt by her ever again. His pain has just been alleviated by HS and his heart hasn't been healed completely, so it would break my heart if he has to suffer his mother's cruelty one more time.

WOW the family having dinner together and Queen Yoo is giving So food. Call me skeptical but I ain't buying that she suddnely has a change of heart. She better not be trying to poison him. Shady lady I'm watching you.

I'm sure she's up to no good. I think the Evil Queen is trying to turn WS into her person so that she can use him to her own advantage. She must have realised that WS had caught the King's attention and his popularity had improved since the rain ritual, hence it's understandable if she suddenly wants to treat him in a different way now. She will continue to be nice to him as long as she can earn some benefits from it. That woman changes her attitude at lightning speed. I really hope that WS is wise enough not to fall for her tricks.

  5. First thing I do in the morning after arriving at work is to check the rating of episode 8 and I'm super delighted to know that the viewership has increased by 1.1% Yayyyyyyyy I'm on cloud nine and temporarily don't wanna come back down to earth \^o^/ Though I've said before that I no longer care about the rating, honestly with all the tension and excitement ep 8 created last night, a higher rating is well-deserved and I would be mad if it didn't happen (Geez, sometimes I can't even understand myself :D ) By the way, I know it's a little bit late but Congratulations! We've made this thread past 500 pages. Such an amazing job guys :D It's really nice to see our bustling community and our support for MLSHR grow bigger everyday ^^

  6. Oh my gosh, I saw a picture of WS kissing HS and I've heard that it's from the preview of tomorrow's episode. Somebody please pinch me and tell me that I'm not dreaming \^o^/ Just looking at that pic makes my heart skip a beat. I can't help but keep smiling and giggling like a crazy person :D That makes me wonder how my poor little heart is gonna handle the kiss scene when it actually happens tomorrow. Someone has said it's gonna be a forceful kiss but I like it anyway. Or rather, I'd love to see this obsessive and possessive side of WS about HS. Once he has made up his mind, I know nothing will hold him back and can't wait to watch his next moves to win her over.

You know what, I'd just woken up from a quick nap and was about to go get something (a drink maybe) that could make me fully awake. Then I stumbled upon the video you posted and my eyes were like O.O OMG, if I could give you multiple likes, I would. Thanks to you, my drowsiness has gone away and I feel so energetic to get back to work now (the problem is, I can't seem to focus on my job at the moment because my mind is already with So-Soo couple :D)

Finally, tonight we're going to witness such a milestone in our couple's relationship and I can't even put into words how anxious and excited I am right now. I guess my obsession with this drama is getting worse day by day ^^ Never have I awaited Monday so eagerly and the only way I managed to get through the whole past week is looking at spoiler pics/gifs and reading you guys' insightful analyses and predictions. Only a few couple of hours to go, fighting!!!

You seriously made me google it and it's written in the wiki!

The historical Wang So really married Hae Soo? I'm confused. I thought HS is just a made-up character.

Someone enlighten me please, as I'm getting giddy with the anticipation of this possible ending.

As far as I know, wiki is an open encyclopedia, which means it allows people to edit or change some contents if they found them incorrect. So in this case it might be just the act of someone, just as @uuugogirl has pointed out. I also remember the last time I went to Wiki to search for some information about King Gwangjong, I didn't see the name of Hae Soo appear anywhere on the page. But even if it's like that, I still want to deliver my thanks to the person who did that for getting my hopes up for a quick moment :D Oh my, how much I want it to have happened in history so that we may dream of a happy, satisfactory ending for our So-Soo couple

Hi guys! I'm a new member and I'm so happy to be joining you to discuss on this beautiful drama!

While waiting for the next episode, I can't stop looking at the preview of episode 8 and I have a crazy theory of what might happen and I need to know what you guys think about it...

      Hide contents

First, this crazy idea came to me when I saw the picture posted by Gabi Bros on page 430.

In my opinion this picture is coming from episode 8 because Wang So costume is different from the one we saw him wearing in episode 7. (The costume is orange and the arms are black) So that means Hae Soo will probably come back water the trees and talk to them.

So after I saw this picture, the scene from episode 7 when Wang So is naming trees comes to my mind. He said "And this mulberry tree, the fruits make one pass gas. Fartie?" (Translations from drama love).

So knowing that Hae Soo tends to defend people who are mistreating, I think there is a possibility that Hae Soo will try to get revenge on the 3rd prince for what he did to Wang So by serving him "Fartie" fruit. (We can see in episode 7 that it's Hae Soo who  is serving tea to the 3rd prince...) Lol! If she serves him "Fartie" fruit and the 3rd prince begins to fart before the king and his brothers...The humiliation that he will feel...

And that idea might explain why we see in the preview of episode 8 the angry queen pulling Hae Soo hair with the 3rd prince behind her... And why BaekAh is smiling to Hae Soo and being secretive....And why we see Wang So dreaming again under the stars.... :P

What you guys think? Is this idea too crazy?

Your idea is so hilarious yet it does make sense in my opinion. It may sound a little crazy but I truly like it. OMG let's imagine that evil, arrogant WY is farting in front of the King and the others, what a scene it would make if that actually happens :D I'm pretty sure that man would never be able to forget and forgive such humiliation in his life and he would definitely seek a way to get his revenge on HS. But anyway, what a brilliant theory that you've come up with

Unfortunately, we are again seeing differences in Ep7 between SBS and international versions, so I have done a manual resync and edit of the SBS version subs based on Dramafever subs and Dramabeans recaps. Dialogue for missing Dramafever scenes (Wook-Yeonhwa, Mu-Ji Mong) are best guess based on Dramabeans recaps, with a few lines missing. Please feel free to let me know where it needs to be corrected.

Have posted the edited subs in Avistaz and here for anyone who is interested.

Just wondering if this is going to be the norm going forward... with SBS and international versions diverging in terms of content (and by extension, subs) :(

I'm afraid so :( To me personally it's such a pain having to watch and compare two versions of one new episode. The thought that I might be missing out on some scenes which play a crucial part in the development of the main characters' relationships puts a damper on me fully enjoying the new episode.

By the way, thank you so much for your effort to edit the subs. I watched ep 6 last night and found the subs quite choppy and some parts were even mistranslated :bawling:

  12. Back to the forum after one night and the number of new pages added to this thread truly amazes me. Thumps up to everyone for your superb contribution \^o^/

I've heard that there are two versions of ep 6 and some scenes that appeared in one version were cut out of the other version, right? Haizz, I wish they had combined the two versions into one and broadcasted it so that we, viewers, wouldn't be confused about which version to watch, not to mention searching for the download links and the subs would be less troublesome. Anyway, for now I think I just need to overlook it and try to focus on what happens in this week's episodes.

I haven't fully watched ep 6 yet but I've read some feedback on this forum and elsewhere. It appears that the issue of WS not getting much screen-time and the romance between him and HS not having any significant progress is displeasing a number of people. Well, although I do want to see WS on screen more often, I wouldn't mind waiting a little bit longer (but not too long though :D) for him to increase his presence in HS's life and become the most important person to her. Considering that at this point in the drama HS hasn't got rid of all of her feelings for WW, I would find it so rushed and unconvincing if she suddenly turns to WS. Because the original Chinese name of this drama is "Bu Bu Jing Xin", or "Startling by Each Step", I think the relationship between HS and WS will grow step by step, little by little, into a love so strong and passionate that neither of them would ever be able to forget for the rest of their lives.

Last night's episode marks a turning point in HS's life, she has now left WW's house to enter the palace with a life full of obstacles and challenges ahead. Living inside the palace also means that there's more chance of her encountering WS and our couple will get to know each other better. By the way, ep 7 preview makes me so excited as it includes the long-awaited birthday scene, along with some moments of So-Soo couple (the way WS looks at HS and smiles at her in the preview completely melts my heart ).

  13. @MoOnLoVeRz I'm absolutely flabbergasted at your post and really wanna scream out loud (but I can't because I'm currently at work :D ). HELL NOOOO!!!!! If that's really the case then no wonder HS will probably have no choice but to commit suicide to get out of that marriage. That may also explain why the princes can't do anything but to see her off with such sad expressions on their faces. However, I'm unable to come up with any possible motive for the King to marry HS. Geez, only a few hours till the next episode yet I already can't wait :tears:

so agree ! I don't want an ending like Rooftop prince T-T

Same here. That ending of Rooftop Prince had haunted me for quite some time and until now I still find it so unsatisfying.  I know it's difficult, if not impossible, for the screenwriter to change the course of history, yet I refuse to give up hope of a happy ending for our So-Soo couple. Going off track a little, but I really want this drama to have the same ending as the Japanese manga Anatolia Story in which the main female lead remained in the past, married the Prince and they lived happily ever after. If that happens in SHR, I'd be over the moon \^o^/

Oh i see, so currently it was meant for his mother. AHHHHH i get it! thanks for the explanation. :glasses: I love him HS is so faithful and loyal to WS, the fact that she didnt spill on any of his secrets or weak moments and chose to get punish instead is something truly noble of her.

hmmm maybe i see that as a possibility. if that hairpin symbolizes love then he will eventually give it to HS. (a bit like in the c version there was some artificat on display that was a connection between ruoxi and the 4th prince, am i right?)

I really wonder why the mother hates WS is it because he is scarred? That would be a stupid reason to hate him.

I'm pretty sure WS and HS will have some mementos that symbolize their love for each other later (there's no reason not to, right ;)). Let's say, like in the C-version, the 4th prince did give Ruo Xi a couple of gifts (a hairpin, a hand-crafted ointment container, a necklace, etc.) to express his care and affection for her, all of which were treasured wholeheartedly by Ruo Xi until the day she passed away TT_TT

About the relationship between WS and his mother, I think the Queen despises him because he reminds her of her own mistake in the past. She was so desperate to hold on to the King's heart that she even hurt her own child accidentally. He's the proof of her failure and impotence both as a mother and a wife, so she sent him away as a way to deny it. However, I do hate the fact that she is so heartless that she continues to hurt him again and again :bawling:

OMG I think your surmise may be true. I've been wondering what HS did so that she has to wear a band-aid around her wrist and the two pics you've posted seem to be the explanation for it. As I recall from the C-version, after collapsing from hearing the news that the Crown Prince had asked the King to make her his concubine, Ruo Xi continued to hurt herself until she was seriously sick to postpone the wedding. And the 4th prince and the 8th prince also worked out a strategy together to save her. So maybe something similar will happen in the K-version.

Hey @elviraxxx, I also thought that YH genuinely likes WS during the first 4 episodes but the convo that YH and WY had about WS makes me think that she is only using WS for political reasons and entertainment. This convo just made me really angry because they were referring to WS as an animal. when in fact they're the ones acting like animals.

YH is on another level of evil though, because even WY was taken aback at YH's thought of "taming" WS. Every episode I just hate her more >.<

I had the same thought as yours at first when watching the scene of YH helping WS treat his wound, supposing her feelings for him was genuine. Then I was kinda shocked at what she said to WY because it turns out to her WS is just an animal to tame and she finds it entertaining to train him into human. It disgusts me to look at the smug on her face when she is saying that. Yes you're right, their cruelty and scorn towards inferior people make them much much worse than any kind of animal they're comparing WS to, but unfortunately they're too full of themselves to realize that.

Wow guys!!! I've been out of the loop for less than 24 hrs and you guys already added more than 10 pages! I can't keep up! Haha! I love your enthusiasm for SH!

OK,  can someone please tell me where you got the gif of HS removing WS's Mask?  Did it come from a teaser? And are we gonna see it next week? Can you please give me the source? Sorry, I have too many questions but its just because I'm so excited about the relationship development between WS and HS!!!!! That scene is just so precious, seeing WS let HS remove his mask shows how much he's opening up to her. Compared to the scene where YH was trying to touch his face and he shied away, I'm just so happy for our 4TH PRINCE!!!

And I'm also really confused about the horse riding scene at the ep5 preview. I clearly saw WW riding the horse but are there clips of WS too? I'mean going crazy, IU is so lucky huhuhuhu

You can find that scene in the long preview of SHR (the duration is around 6 minutes and the scene of HS taking off WS's mask is near the end of the clip).

As for ep 6 preview, we are guessing that WS and WW may work together to help HS get rid of the marriage she is forced into. It may be their plan to let the real HS run away with WS when WW is taking a decoy with him to distract the guards.

One thing I had been wondering about and was somewhat worried was Princess Yeon Hwa´s interest in Wang So.

I really feared that they would marry her off to him...but after watching the last episode, I began to hope that this wouldn´t be the case. My reasoning: The king said that she is his greates joy in his old age...so I don´t think that he would marry her to the son that 1. is a reminder of an ugly encounter with one of his wives 2. has a scar on his face, which stands in contrast to their ideal of perfection 3. was sent away as a hostage...

On the other hand...I would be quite happy to see her marry Wang Yo :D..in my opinion..they make a perfect match.B)

Well I also think Princess YH and Wang Yo suit each other better :D But from what I read on wiki and other forums, it is said that Wang So, or later King  Gwangjong, married his half-sister who became known as Queen Daemok. Maybe this person is Princess Yeon Hwa, though I really don't want to see him marrying her on screen at all :(

The face of the girl riding with WW is hidden, maybe a decoy so the real one can escape?

Yep, I think so. After watching all of the 2 versions of ep 6 preview, it seems that in the next episode So and Wook may team up to save Hae Soo (based on the scene in which Soo is wearing red outfit and her hairstyle is kinda similar to those married, I guess she is forced to marry someone she hasn't even met). I think their plan is that So will take the real Hae Soo away with him and the one that goes with Wook is just a decoy as you said to distract the palace guards. Anyway, can't wait for ep 6 to come out to see if our predictions are true ;)

guys don't care ratings...at same time spot at same days in a two rival channel there is a two historical drama and actually this kind of rivalry always brings one side playing dirty and try to drop other drama ratings by negative articles. A lot of people also think this "bad acting" article was unnecessary and unrealistic, ıt happened at 1st ep!.. everyone knows there was no real public reaction behind it... you write "public reacted to this and that artist acting skills and suddenly public really react after reading that! they show their reaction with losing their interest!.. I saw this so many times. After the news Scarlet Heart ratings dropped and Lovers in the moonlight ratings increased!

but again I always say  5-6-7-9%... this are not really bad ratings! ıf you are old drama lover, you also have to know most of the very popular korean drama took bad ratings at korea. for ex now a teenage drama Cinderella and four Knights is in everywhere...people keep talking about it but ıts ratings are 2-3%...Pinoccho was very popular drama for i-fans..ıts rating was 5-6%...Healer was very popular drama..ıts ratings was again 5-6%...there is so many like this...

so don't be sad, just watch and have fun.

Totally agree!!! Let's be optimistic, put the rating aside and support our favorite drama guys.

Despite the fact that ML isn't doing well on the ranking table, my love and excitement for this drama don't change. Actually, I read some comments on other forums about the 4th episode last night and it seemed that this episode had received a lot of positive responses, so I did raise my hope for the rating to rise, even just a little bit, to support Lee Jun Ki and the cast, but it has disappointed us once again. Well, if it's like that, I don't bother caring about the rating anymore.

Back to the 4th episode, I really can't wait to watch the eng-subbed version to fully enjoy So-Soo's cute moments together. And the preview of episode 5 promises us this will be an emotional episode. Arrrggghhh the wait is really killing me :D

  23. It's been ages since the last time I logged into Soompi :) I haven't watched K-dramas for a very long time and now Moon Lover has brought me back here ^^

Just browsing through a few pages from the latest ones backwards (still more than 200 pages to go and not sure if I'll be able to read them all ^^) but I'm really happy to see that a lot of people are enjoying MLSHR as much as I am. To be honest, I was skeptical about the Korean adaptation at first since I've been a fan of the Chinese version, and when I learnt that IU was cast as the main female lead I was kind of disappointed. Plus, the lower-than-expected ratings of the released episodes put me off a little bit. Yet, I decided to give it a go (mostly because of  Lee Jun Ki) and now I'm a fan of the Korean version too :D (seriously it's not fair to judge a drama based solely on its ratings). I really like the way the drama is adapted to suit Korean culture and history, which makes it harder to predict what is going to happen next. After watching the first 3 episodes, I'm so obsessed with the 4th prince played by Lee Jun Ki. The way he portrays his character, especially the look in his eyes, totally draws me in and no matter what future reactions K-net would have towards the upcoming episodes, I know I will stick with this drama till the end. And the writer please creates a happy ending for Wang So and Hae Soo!!! (I sooooo don't want it to have the same heart-breaking ending like the Chinese version TT_TT).

As for IU and Baekhyun, I've read some complaints about their acting, which is somewhat thought to be the main reason for the low rating, but to me their performance so far is okay (not excellent but at least I don't find their characters so annoying that I want to stop watching the drama ;))). I guess maybe it's easier for someone that doesn't speak Korean like me to accept their ways of acting; but hopefully as the storyline develops their acting will improve as well.

Well, enough for my rambling :D I'm counting down until the 4th episode is aired tonight just like you guys, let's have fun watching ^^
