    It was my first time to watch JKY in anything and I also think that he did great in the film. He was convincing that I hated Jang Hyuk. Soobin and him had mad chemistry. They worked so well together that you could feel the intimacy between their characters although they did not have a lot of cute/sweet couple moments.

     

    Agree that Sweet & Sour is a thought-provoking and sad film. Which is why people either hated it or loved it. It was promoted as a romcom but it isn't feel-good at all which is what you'd expect from one. I loved and enjoyed the film and would easily rate it a 4.5 out of 5 stars. I had few complaints about it -- mostly due to the writing (I didn't like Lee Jang Hyuk cause man was a stalker and we almost lose our heroine in the second half once the focus was on Hyuk's work). But I loved how it was structured and how it's a little bizarre. I loved how themes of love and loss and work-life balance were explored. I loved how it was cleverly executed; there were clues (about the twist) throughout which would make a rewatch fun. Above all, I loved that this story sends a warning, to think about your choices and decisions or you will have regrets. Both characters were not happy in the end (but it's more nuanced in Daeun's part).

     

    Also, the twist. It was cleverly done. Personally, it made the ending so unsatisfying but it served its purpose. I wouldn't call it the film's highlight though like a lot of people did. It just made the film pretty unique. To me the highlight is some show-stealing presence, of Soobin's in particular.

    Man, it's a really sad film. I was just heartbroken for Daeun. I didn't want her to end up with Lee Jang Hyuk but it is what it is.

     

    I would never condone cheating but I understood where she was coming from. Prior to her bad decisions, she was almost perfect as a girlfriend; loving and very considerate. She even told him to just come home when he's not too busy with work seeing how commuting made him too tired. It baffled me too how someone could be interested in/get close with a co-worker who's lacking in refinement and manners when you had a girlfriend like that at home, lol. These girls are the complete opposite. But I guess that happens in real life.

     

    I think the lack of time wasn't the main problem but their different personalities and priorities. She was all about love and prioritized him and their relationship. He was ambitious and prioritized his work. She wanted emotional connection and commitment while he was dense, self-absorbed and was not ready for real commitment. Yeah, I hated Jang Hyuk. He tried though. Still, he's a terrible boyfriend. You don't make your significant other feel like they're alone in your relationship and wonder where it all went wrong when you lose them, lol.

    Hi! Welcome to the thread :) I believe she cut her hair for her upcoming drama. I am still waiting for news officially announcing her appearance in it, lol, and I'm very curious about what her character's gonna be like, so hopefully more info will be released soon. But they have started filming already.

    I didn't think that I could fall more in love with her as an actress but I did after watching her turn as Daeun. She just filled the screen with so much beauty and charisma whenever she appeared. It was wonderful, to watch her nuanced acting and vivid expressions, and of course, to listen to her voice acting. I had a few problems with how Daeun was written and we did not get to see much from her character's perspective but she made Daeun so sympathetic and relatable that it was hard to despise her despite her bad decisions.

    Soobin (and KINGKONG by STARSHIP) recently launched her official youtube channel '수빈둥빈둥' / Soo BinDoong BinDoong! Her channel name means "Soobin goofing around" and I LOVE it it's so HER lol!! I think she's only the second in her actor agency to launch a YT channel (YYS was the first?).

    Sooo many updates! But first... has anyone reading this thread watched Sweet & Sour yet? What did you think of it? I wrote somewhere that Soobin's character was an OB-GYN nurse, but she actually came out of that clinic not as an employee but because of something else. Anyway, I would highly recommend this film to everybody. Soobin was not kidding when she said in one of her interviews that there's a lot of things to unpack about this film.

    ~ This woman is seriously everything. Shy, cute, funny, smart, humble and honest. Lol I expected her to answer "family" (or maybe her adopted pets) when she was asked on the things that make her happy and she did. She's the most precious human being♡

    ~ This is probably my favourite interview of the bunch. It's in Korean though.

    ~ Soobin saying Jang Hyuk is an idiot (because of how he handled things when the couple had that fight in the movie) is giving me life lmao.

    ~ She also said that she did not wear makeup in scenes inside her house and, she was unbelievably beautiful throughout the entire film, but she was even more beautiful in those scenes, like IMMACULATELY BEAUTIFUL. 

    ~ She said she had a lot of fun filming and joked around on set and joked with the director. I also remember the director saying in a past interview that Sweet & Sour is the best production he's been in or his favourite production so far.

    ~ When asked about the abandoned dog that she adopted, she said "I have to show the picture first" (so adorable).

    ~ There's also mention of her first love/high school boyfriend and he sounds like a sweet guy ^^

    Soobin has been on the top 10 list for movie star ranking on Naver for days. That's an achievement considering she's the only Korean actress on the top 10, and there's more Hollywood stars/filmmakers on the top 50 list -- they love Hollywood films and they're not into RomComs much in SK, I think. She's currently ranked at number 9.

    I keep writing this but I am super excited for her upcoming films. If only they release PIRATES 2 sooner, in time for Chuseok or something. And I have high hopes for her first rom-com film, because of the way the director has so far talked about it.

After the illusion that seems to be eternal has passed, the true image of a relationship filled with boredom and unintended wounds will be realistically captured without a layer of packaging.

     

    <Sweet and Sour> is a mirror that reflects young people in this age where dating is not easy to live in reality, and it is also a story about the habit of dating, who only looks at love from their own point of view. Jang Hyeok, Daeun, and Boyoung all look at, mistake, misunderstand, and interpret the other person with their own eyes.

     

    The film is uniquely composed of the first half that follows the gaze of the characters' misunderstandings, and the second half where new truths are revealed as the puzzle of the story is matched. Director Lee Gye-byeok depicts the bitter reality of a love affair, but he could not give up laughter and fresh stories, and raised expectations for the film with the words "a strange and surprising work with various devices that cannot be found in existing romantic comedies."

     

    <Sour Sweet>, which honestly portrays the bare face of a love that turns into an unexpected taste for a moment, will evoke a variety of emotions such as laughter, anger, surprise and empathy to viewers.

    “Sweet & Sour” starring Jang Ki Yong, Chae Soo Bin, and f(x)’s Krystal has released its trailer!

     

    This film follows the love triangle of “sweet” couple Jang Hyuk (Jang Ki Yong) and Da Eun (Chae Soo Bin) whose relationship turns sour with the addition of the charming Bo Young (Krystal). It realistically captures the sweet taste of the beginnings of dating and the quick and bitter transformation of love, as if it has passed the expiration date.

     

    The trailer starts out with a cute moment between Jang Hyuk and Da Eun that quickly evolves into a nasty relationship. The two are torn apart by work, with Da Eun working three shifts as a nurse and Jang Hyuk starting out as a contract employee being dispatched to large companies. Now that they’re both fatigued, they are cold and harsh to one another, acting completely different from when their relationship first began.

     

    When Jang Hyuk meets Bo Young, a fellow contract employee he must compete against, things take a turn for the worse as they quickly become closer.

    Soobin's congratulatory message on the wedding of Yoon Kyun Sang's (her THE REBEL co-star) younger brother:

     

     

    I miss her long hair but she's so cute with this new style though, lol. I read somewhere that DISNEY+ is expected to launch in South Korea this September at the latest in the third quarter. Filming for her drama's probably going to be finished/almost finished before the official launch... so excited to see her drama comeback.
