    She refused the offers and a lot of money because she wanted to appear in Korean productions but the offers did not come. I understand that she wanted to be home after spending time filming in China Just Like a Beautiful Flying Butterfly but who would have predected that she will have a hard time finding other offers? She did Autumn Shower in 2005 but after that it came a hard time as an actress. Autumn Shower was not a bad drama in my opinion (I liked the melodrama) but it had very bad ratings for that time, and the other two leads had more important roles in the story.

    After the time where she did not find other jobs, she appeared in another Chinese drama, Anhui Merchants (2007). Then came Gourmet (2008) and Iris (2009) and the rest... is history. :D

     

    No one can predict the future. But I hope she will have many interesting projects in the future.

     

    Agreed. At that time, the Korean entertainment industry was more about cute-yet-imperfect ordinary heroines and I think So Yeon was not  treated fair. If AAE were shot in 2020 instead of 2000, her popularity would eclipse that of Chae Rim (no offense).

     

     

     

    Where did you hear she had financial difficulties? I once came across an article saying her then bf sold fake cigarettes or something :D

     

     

     

    And I wonder how much she charges for a single episode these days.

    I was so excited I literally shouted as the winner for best actress was announced. She really deserved this award even though the competition was strong for this year. It's a long journey from AAE to this.

     

    21 years already.

    What a way to sustain the ratings!!!

    Penthouse is a cashcow for SBS. Like the trashy characters in the story, the producers are also trashy for milking the ratings at whatever possible cost. But I'm gullible enough to keep watching. 

    Oh yes, remember when Logan Lee talked to SSR about her rumors that she herself hadn't got a clue? A doppelganger is on the way. Brace yourselves.

    I also think that she was very good. I guess for a makjang, Kim Sun Ok writes well but comparing with dramas that have a meaning, that we can take it seriously, this drama is awfull. However, the ending scene, where Seo Jin`s father died and she took the papers and let him die in the rain, could became exagerated in craziness but So yeon found a balance. We saw a vulnerable Seo Jin, a desperate woman graduyally losing her humanity. This was a key point in Seo Jin`s evolution as a character. We can see her as the worst Seo Jin from now on.

     

     

     

    Yes, people in my country (Myanmar) are praising her acting prowess. She's been praised from first episode, but last night's episode takes it to a new level.
