Hi dear! May I ask you a question, perhaps you know. Who was older Ashile Sun or Sher? It wasn't really clear in the drama. :/

    Hi there,

I don’t believe the drama ever made it clear on who is older between the two.

This is funny because I too asked the same question on MDL. Someone answered that during an interview of Sun, She’er, and Mu Jin actors (which is posted on Youtube), it was briefly mentioned that Sun was a bit older by a year or two. That can explain why She’er was constantly competing with Sun ever since their childhood.

I haven’t read far enough in the manhua to know if this is explained.

  2. If anyone is interested, I've compiled into pdf all volumes (1-11)/chapters (1-61) of the manhua and they are located in my TLB folder. I've used the highest resolution scans I can find online while making these. I've split them up into 11 volumes as well as making a single pdf with ALL chapters, but keep in mind it's a LARGE file with 1,740 pages.

Please feel free to download them if you're interested. Also, let me know if I need to make any corrections to these pdf.

All chapters in one single pdf: https://dl.orangedox.com/ZyTcOi3iJQ9rsOXdkt

All chapters separated into 11 volumes: https://dl.orangedox.com/xJrCVkhsKwOO1HXRpc

I've also edited the 6 main OST to include Chinese lyrics, pinyin and English translation lyrics: https://dl.orangedox.com/Mzn4e7pou1xRjPd459

    Enjoy!

I’m still stuck on this drama. Can’t move on from it. Am I really a 45 year old woman fangirling over a 30 year old dude from China?? :D Also...

How come the lover’s curse didn’t lift when XJ confessed to SF on the doc under the bridge after they came out of the mirror?

You're not the only one stuck on this drama. I'm watched it twice and still come back to this drama while watching "Love is Sweet". I love it so much that I have the 4K version of this drama on my iPhone.

I think I know why FJ named his son Gun Gun, It means Rollin' Rollin', maybe she cannot forget the Rollin' Rollin' while kissing she and DH made on the bed when they were in Aranya's dream! :joy:

There was a paragraph from Book 1 Chapter 5:

“Furthermore, whose surname should this baby take? Dong Hua didn’t have a surname. Considering family backgrounds and clan ancestries, it was still best for him to take her family name Bai. But an official name was too important for her to decide by herself. He needed a nickname at home, though. Could they call him Bai Gungun?”

I think this was around the time she was the little fox. She kissed Dijun and thought she was going to have a kid. Only to have her bubbles burst by Si Ming, saying she can’t have a kid with just a kiss. I thought that was funny from the book.

I thought he was the full-blooded brother of Aranya? Isn’t Junuo the only child from the previous king (whom the current Biyiniao king in Aranya’s dream murdered for the crown).

If he was the son of the previous king, I don’t think he would’ve survived...

I believe you are correct. They are full-blooded siblings.

Do you know what gets me every time? Bai GunGun referring to Xiao Yan as ‘beautiful sister’ in the epilogue lmao! He really does look like a pretty girl

I also cracked up when I read that part. I wasn’t sure if the translation was correct, so I checked the raw Chinese novel. I guess it was from Bai Gungun’s perspective.

I created an ePub of The Pillow Book and include the mini specials. PM your email address and I will send it to you if you’re interested.

These is my old post on September 8 ,2018 at page 32

My take on Aranya/ ChenYe story.

Sooo....at the first time I read it(Aranya Dream parts) I kind of..didn't seriously concentrated...but the second and the third times I read it..oh my heart..it's so heartbreakingly sad just like DH/FJ's love story..I realized that.. due to the "Unfinished Fate" between Aranya/ChenYe is the reason DH/FJ can be together. There's a few parts/lines in the book I really love because as simple as it was..but the meaning is deeply touching.

1.People say the most painful thing is a love where you cannot be together in life and cannot meet in death. But that was not it. The worst grief is when you clearly loved her but she never even know to the day she died and you could no longer let her know.

2.That person. You'd never see her again. You could never hear her again. You could never touch her again. She even decidedly gave up on reincarnation.  No matter how many after lives there were no matter who you became, you would never be able to meet her .She was gone, completely and utterly gone.

    3. "Look at the love to see the lover". For exp: There was the passionate kind of love, the steady kind love and also the courteous kind of love. There were people loved very MUCH but said very LITTLE .Then there were people love very MUCH and said just as MUCH. One could not say that someone else's feelings weren't love just because his love was different from one's own.

PS: I really love the Pillow Book novel and admire Tang Qi imaginations and inspirations. It's so amazingly splendidly beautifully written. I might say she is a genius "A True Love Story" writer.

I also just finished rereading TPB. I agree the Aranya/Chen Ye Arc was SO heartbreakingly sad. I could feel Chen Ye’s pain and trying to gather the soul of the person you love. Reminded me of the scene from TMOPB when Ye Hua broke down when he thought Su Su’s soul (?) was gone (can’t remember the exact reason, only that I could feel his pain when crying).

I’ve read/compiled the Mini Specials (all 18 of them) from hui3r to help me cheer up, knowing that the different couples have a happy ending with funny moments. They are quick and hilarious reads.

  11. So I usually get the raw episodes from torrent. I’ve resync the subtitles since the raw episodes have the commercials. I usually watch these episodes offline on my phone, during my break at work. If anyone is interested I can email the English subtitles. I currently have subs up to episode 32.

I only have the WeTV subtitles, not Viki. I’m going to wait until Viki is done with the subtitles for the complete drama before resyncing those ones.

    2. Fengjiu pushing Donghua on the bed and hiding under the blanket (she had the birthmark so it’s not when she is in Aranya’s dream)

    3. Donghua kissing her against the tree

    These are only my guesses:

    2. Book 2 - Chapter 6: There was a section where during Feng Jiu (in Aranya’s body) was drugged with lovesick potion by her two sisters (who doesn’t seem to like her very much). Su Moye (currently in Aranya’s room) switched places with Dong Hua (in Xi Ze’s body). They go through this bed tumbling scene while she’s drugged. Her sisters are trying to frame Aranya and her teacher Su Moye as adulterers.

    3. Book 2 - End of Chapter 8: Feng Jiu is looking for Xi Ze in a cave after he kills a water serpent. In the book she dropped a illuminating pearl, Xi Ze catches her before she falls and ended up kissing her against the wall, rather than a tree.

Is this "pimpon fruit" a real thing? I can't even find what it looks like.

I did some digging and in the novel the fruit is called 频婆果 (pín pó guǒ). So it's translated as pinpo fruit.

Sterculia Monosperma, also known as Chinese chestnut, phoenix eye fruit, or frequency fruit. The fruit resembles pods. The skin is thick and mature in autumn. The fruit stalk is 10-20cm long. The fruit pods are immature with a reddish tinge and blue. When the pods gradually mature, the pods split and contain seeds. The color turns black. Its shape is similar to that of phoenix eyes. It is called yellow eye green fruit. The immature fruit is yellowish green. The mature seeds are edible.

Do a google image search and you guys can see what this Saha fruit/pinpo fruit looks like.

I ended up editing my ePub version of The Pillow Book to include this new information.

  14. One of my favorite lines from DH describing FJ, without her realizing it at the time. It was from the Aranya Dream timeline.

“Very beautiful,” he told her. “And she’ll be even more beautiful when she grows up.” He paused then added, “She has a good personality too.” Then he recalled, “Also very talented. Talented in everything.” And finally concluded, “Everything about her is wonderful.” Then as though he was speaking to himself, “Since I picked her, naturally everything about her is wonderful.”
