@TheRedDragonalso, thank you about the information relating to his company and career. I did some digging (unfortunately not in the mountains with Wu Xie ) and found out a few interesting facts.

 

It seems like, Guardian, if not taken down mere days after it finished airing, would have repeated Youku's success with Love O2O webdrama back in 2016. Back then the drama has a total of 24 billion views overall. Guardian has generated more than 3 billion views in less than 2 months. 

 

Also interesting to note, main character for Love O2O is Yang Yang. This summer, Yang Yang also has a 40 episode drama released. The drama, Martial Universe, did not do as well as Guardian. But since Yang Yang has a large fan base (thanks to Love O2O) it seemed like the very expensive drama did not flop. The second season of Martial universe is going to be released soon too, and Yang Yang's popularity is going up. 

 

This winter, another large investment drama starring Yang Yang is going to be released, but not on Youku, instead on Tencent. Which is The King's Avatar. It's a big production, with several seasons, totaling up to 80 episodes. I don't know how the drama will go but the novel is very popular in China and internationally. But Yang Yang's ability to act has always been questioned. As a fan of the novel version of The King's Avatar, I have a mixed feeling about this too. 

 

So my point is, since Yang Yang has migrated to Youku's competitor, Tencent, Youku needs to find another golden goose win back traffic to their platform so they would not lose to Tencent. It seems like their sudden investment Zhu Yi Long is in accordance with this situation. They are counting on Long Ge make a breakthrough for them, and I think this move is very smart because Long Ge has the acting ability, and he is also very handsome (wouldn't lose to Yang Yang or other handsome actors).

 

I also hope Long Ge would make a breakthrough with the Tomb Notes and become a mainstream actor.

@TheRedDragonYes, what accident? I'd like to know too. Is it related to the waist and back pain you're talking about before? Not that I want to be nosy but I am always concerned of his progress and would like to be informed of Zhu Yi Long's health condition.

@TheRedDragon oh don't worry about me. I've watched all 40 eps of Guardian though with detachment. I prefer the novel version after all.

 

But Shen Wei's tragic death still made my blood run cold and hairs standing on end. The goosebumps and heart-wrenching feeling won't quit for days. Long Ge's acting is really that powerful. Which convince me that I should stay away from Fu Hong Xue, who, just by looking at a few clips of him is enough to tell me he's my kindred spirit . But Long Ge as Fu Hong Xue is really beautiful...  

 

Actually I am quite glad that Long Ge gets to grow as an actor in relative peace. Seeing the chaos he has to live with now, it is a good thing he does not go through the idol route early on. It gives him a lot of chances to try different roles and not have to face harsh criticism or haters. After 10 years in the industry, he is a seasoned actor and his stardom comes just as he is ready for more responsibilities. It's awesome. I only worry that his company would force him into something he does not want to do, like doing variety shows. Luckily that does not happen. 

 

So the Tomb Notes fans has started to notice him and followed him? They are quite proactive. I thought it would only happen after the drama start to air next year. But then maybe they are taken by his charm already XD. Also, Guardian is still not available in China? Since it's back on YouTube I thought... That's too bad for his new fans.

@node it's a very nice soothing song, and not particularly sad fmv, fortunately. I love it. I can't handle too much sadness or trauma since I used to have teenage depression in my early years. Even now I avoided being too invested in any drama or movies, even Guardian. I only watched Guardian for Shen Wei and Zhao Yun Lan after finding the novel. Then I fall for Mr. Zhu's charm. Such an adorable man who is very determined to become a great actor .

 

Anyway, could anyone tell me what's happening now? Long Ge's weibo followers increased by a few hundred thousand in the last few days. It couldn't have been because of the Refa and L'Oréal event?

I am thinking of his roles in My True Friend and The Story of Ming Lan, both upcoming dramas of his. His characters in both, while not main characters, should be vividly portrayed which lead me to think he is not an ordinary actor, but a specialised one. Thus I looked up the term.

 

Like how Ye Zun overshadowed Shen Wei, his supporting characters could overshadow the main characters easily

Hello everyone. I've registered for the sole purpose of joining this thread. I've been lurking here for over a month now . Just thought I should keep the forum going. 

Regarding Zhu Yi Long's acting career these last few years, I think the western world has a term for it, which is "character actor". 

 

From wikipedia:

A character actor or character actress is a supporting actor who plays unusual, interesting, or eccentric characters.^{[2][3][4][5][6][7]} The term, often contrasted with that of leading actor, is somewhat abstract and open to interpretation.^[8] In a literal sense, all actors can be considered character actors since they all play "characters",^[9] but in the usual sense it is an actor who plays a distinctive and important supporting role.^[1][10]

The term is sometimes used to describe an actor who plays characters who are very different from the actor's off-screen real-life personality, while in another sense it describes an actor who specializes in minor roles. What do you think? Does this describes him? I remember reading articles and reviews of Hollywood movies and they defined Leonardo Dicaprio and Matt Damon as great character actors. Don't how true that is, but I thought, if there is such a term in China filming industry, Zhu Yi Long would be one.
