  1. What about a "back to the future" moment involving YK somehow feeling a desire to ride his bike.   While he's out riding, who does he run into except DD and Se Jong playing in that outdoor mini arcade.   Somehow, it turns into YK and DD (and maybe Se Jong also) playing Whack-a-Mole.   As he's playing, it triggers two memories for each time that he played Whack-a-Mole with DD and he's ever closer to regaining his memory.

As far as the hanky, here's my new theory (which means I really need more sleep).   I'm not sure how this happens but somehow SR, of all people, gets a hold of the hanky.   At first, she's inclined to dispose of it b/c she knows that DD gave it to YK as a gift.   However, her evil mind thinks "No wait.   Since YK doesn't remember anything, what if I give this to him as a gift?"   Then, once she presents it to him, BOOM!   Memory fully restored and game over!

Do I need more sleep or what?

  2. Where to begin?   It was really striking to see how much YK really did not want to be with SR.   His refusal to kiss her at least twice is certainly no accident.    His subconscious mind is definitely alive and kicking!   And the fact that he can better relate to DD now partially explains why he was able to kiss her instead.

What to do with SR/DR/KJ?    I did mention prison being in their futures.   Perhaps they should instead go on a spaceship, go to another planet, and don't come back.   That might actually be better for YK/DD and the whole universe!

I also have mixed feelings about Anna Kim's presence in DD and Soo Cheol's lives.   I can understand her feeling guilt about the way she left them both all those years ago and her wanting to make things right.   Still, I'm not sure that her presence will in fact make things better for them in the long run.   Certainly not in the short term.

Good for Se Ryeon and Dae Bum getting back together.   As long as they don't do anything really stupid, I can support them.

I'm still convinced that YK's will fully return soon.   How he handles DD's old friend being in the picture should actually be funny.   We'll see how it all plays out.

It was another good weekend.   Can't wait for Saturday already!

@heistheway there’s definitely plenty of episodes left for all 3 of your guesses.  B) I’d actually like some random guy coming along to give YK some competition for DDs heart, after he regains his memories. Not that she would actually be swayed, but having someone supposedly more appropriate (someone her age, no kids, families approve etc) show interest in her, could possibly help YK realise all those other obstacles don’t matter & make him more resolute & confident in their relationship.
If the guy came before YK gets his memory back, well I guess he’d (YK) be jealous & then realise he has feelings for DanDan, which maybe could help trigger the recovery of his memories. I prefer the first scenario, because it would help deal with the other obstacles in a meaningful way.
I do wonder how much of an obstacle Anna is going to prove to be :sweatingbullets: She had already expressed her disapproval to YK, and unless she outs herself as DDs mum, there’s not much else she can do….that’s above board. Who knows if she’d resort to sneaky tricks to try to protect her daughter. She doesn’t seem the type, but all the older women in this drama are written as such nasty schemers, it wouldn’t surprise me. I mean, the woman did abandon her newborn baby (& husband) for her career <_<

@BejaffledI'm liking how you think.  I could see these things happening.   It would cause more angst with some in this crowd.   But we all agree that YK and DD are destined to be together no matter what.   Episode 19 can't come soon enough!

When the writers introduced the hanky I thought it would become an object of sadness and grief but I like they way it's being used as a carrier of good things, love, reunion, trust and faith etc.

Doesn't it say a lot when a 22 year old uninhibited young man instinctively turns away from wanting to kiss his "fiancee"? His body and mind knows SR is not the one even if his memory is on a break.

I'm with you on this.    No doubt YK's subconscious is still alive and kicking.   It cannot be coincidence that he refused to kiss SR but his heart still flutters for DD.    Now we're talking about one really important hanky!

As an aside, knowing how K-dramas work, I'm wondering if anyone wants to guess how many more obstacles YK and DD will have to go through AFTER YK gets his memory back.   I'm guessing three.

    1.  Some random guy comes along to get in their way by making moves on DD.
    2.  YK's and DD's families are both against it.

    3.   People talking/gossiping about their age difference.

  5. I don't know why I get these random thoughts.   Anyway, here's the latest "theory" I have.    Due to his amnesia, YK will still agree to marry SR but he slowly regains a little of his memory at a time - mostly through missteps SR makes.   As we've already seen, SR isn't exactly a chess thinker.    She will continue to make mistake after mistake which YK will keep track of at 22, and then, 41 YO.   Then, just before they get married, he's presented with the handkerchief.   Then, it all comes back full circle.

I also feel for Dae Bum and Se Ryeon.    While they're both quite young and immature, they're not evil hearted by any means.   It's painfully obvious how much they love each other.   As the prototypical Romeo and Juliet K-drama couple, let's see how they will end up together.

I know some feel that Soo-Cheol is too nice and a pushover.     The world would be a much better place if there were more Soo-Cheol's in it.    I'll leave it at that!

With his soon to be gone amnesia, YK will certainly view DD in a new light.    Less hesitations about expressing his love for DD.   Let's see how soon this happens!

Finally, I would say send SR and DR to prison but I think prison's too good for them!

I think the handkerchief will have a part in him regaining his memory because it had a part in his memory lost. And does Sara not have a brain to think ahead he will be more angry at her for lying to him that split second when he was about to kiss her he had a memory that stopped him (thank goodness I would have died if he kissed her I don’t want to see him to kiss anybody but DD).  He just out of the blue say let’s get married and I have to stop and think he is just an immature guy still with a teenagers mind.

That's the whole point about SR (and DR) for that matter.   They don't think through things - they strictly react based on their selfish emotions.   The more I think about it, I'm feeling that a combination of the handkerchief and one (or more) huge missteps by SR/DR will lead YK to regain his memory.

I know it's dangerous to read too much into previews.  But as I'm watching the preview for ep 19 again, I noticed that YK is only shown once.   For some reason, I take that as a good sign that he'll regain his memory soon.   I could be wrong but I feel that if they really want to drag on the amnesia storyline, they'd show more scenes of him acting as the 22 YO.     We shall see!

But where is the handkerchief?  It flew off from the cliff, right?  Could the police have found it near his backpack and kept it with all his stuff like the flask?  It must all be with the cops.  If they send it all home and the handkerchief reaches DD, it would be great to see her take it to YK and trigger all the memories!

In previous K-dramas I've seen, it's the little ones who find the most inconspicuous things.   Maybe adorable Se Jong will find the handkerchief.   Either way, I just have a strange feeling about my theory.   Will be fun to find out!

  8. Hi everyone,

First post on this thread.  Like the rest of you, I've truly been enjoying this drama.   I really wanted to address the amnesia angle.

I also am not a huge fan of the amnesia factor in K-dramas.   But as @jayakris stated, it could turn out to be fun b/c they'll pursue their love with less hesitation.   I know it will be a bumpy ride for a while, but let's remember that in typical K-dramas, the ending sorts out everything.   I'm actually confident that YK will regain his memory relatively shortly.   I'm not saying by next weekend but "soon".

I just had a thought.   It was the handkerchief that helped cause his amnesia.   Wouldn't it be something if the handkerchief were found and once YK saw it, that would trigger his full memory?  Especially if it's DD who finds it and brings it to him?   Food for thought!

My thoughts about the other characters basically mirror everyone else.   We can be confident that SR's and DR's scheming will come to nothing in due time.  YK and DD will be together and it will be worth the wait.   I, for one, am not skipping any episodes because of the amnesia.   It's a show to be enjoyed, not suffering heartburn over.  I look forward to offering more thoughts alongside you as they come!

    Can't wait for next weekend!
