You can rewatch the short clip on page 1324. I don't think the hands were on her lap.

It's more like because she was lying on his shoulder, the position of their interlock fingers (swoons) were on his thigh.

I don't think he intends to hide but rather he kinda have said he would 'give up' already so technically he shouldn't be seen with her, he also probably didn't expect JM to find him therefore he was surprise. He gave 2 small pats while putting her hand back.

    Spoiler

no, I don't mean that stargazing scene. What I refer to is the scene where both of them sit on the floor, facing Jimong. When Jimong told them the king is going crazy, that moment So's hand looked like it was holding Soo's hand and resting on her lap. But after the scene of WY's being sick, So's hand was on his own lap. I'm quite sure he didn't care if Jimong knew though, he's his person afterall.

  2. need some confirmation about a scene in eps 16

    Spoiler

When they were talking to Jimong, was So's hand holding Soo's hand here? because the way I see here, his hand was on her lap. If that's the case then So didn't try to hide his relationship as some might have suggested when he put Soo's hand aside upon seeing Jimong. He was open to Jimong about his relationship. (I got a screenshot but for some reasons it got inserted but didn't appear on the post)

  3. Am I the only one who miss our OTP good old times when they were just being best friend (well at least on Soo's part) and fooling around, but at the same time having meaningful conversation? Eventhough the earlier episodes are lacking of OTP moments but every single moment was beautiful and memorable. Now we will never have that kind of interaction anymore, with the first visible change of So's hair starting on eps 17, followed by many changes that we are dreading to happen but are bound to happen unfortunately. Things really started to go awry after Taejo's death, Soo should have just left the palace when So proposed to her. That chance, sadly, is forever gone now.

Watching this FMV gives me so much feeling. It's so tragic because it shows how beautiful that friendship they were having, how their mutual feeling eventually grew and how close they were actually to that happy ending. But as the song's title Goodbye, we know that the good time is coming to the end. I'm bracing myself for a heart-wrenching ending.

I'm taking So's will to become a king from different perspective. Is becoming a king really a bad thing? I think most of us get this idea because we see what Yo, Wook, YH, and Queen Yoo have been doing in order to get the throne. That's where THE UNDERLYING REASON MATTERS MOST. Their motivation is mostly power (I'll excuse Wook for having his family and Soo as part of his motivation) to control the world (like YH said to So), to control other people. Because of that underlying reason, the way they take to reach the goal is the horrible one, like killing, framing, and sacrificing people. You can say that they're so consummated by their ambition for power that they will do anything to reach that goal. Nothing good will come if people like them become the king obviously.

Now we come to So's underlying reason for the throne. He never had his eyes on throne before, he wasn't the one who wanted to control the world, and he had declared about that clearly. His underlying reason, unlike the others, is to PROTECT, not to CONTROL. He wants to protect his people and after Eun's death, he's aware that the situation will not change unless he becomes the king. And because the reason is good itself, we don't see him taking the dark road like the rest. As much as he hated Yo, he didn't even try to plot some schemes like Wook did. He even still sympathized with Yo's illness. And to me, it pretty much describes why being the king, in So's case, is not something bad. Romance aside, what So does is very noble. He is the only one from all princes who stands up for his people, for the future of the nation. He was born under the star of the king, just like Moo, so if people have no problem with Moo becoming a king, then why should we blame So for becoming a king as well? Do we prefer the nation wrecking under king like crazy WY or sly WW or naive WJ? I think it's a bit unfair and selfish if we want So to forsake the throne for Soo. And frankly speaking, is that option even still available now? Running away with Soo under Yo's nose? They will definitely end up getting killed instead. Given the present circumstance, I really don't see another way for him to protect Soo other than becoming a king, and I believe protecting Soo is a major part of his motivation

Being the king will definitely take toll on their relationship. The palace is such a cruel place itself without So and Soo being the target of practically everyone inside. But it's inevitable, and with all of the obstacles, we can actually take this as a the maturation of their relationship. Whether they survive the progress or just succumb is the real question.

Edited after watching subs: His last words to Soo about the change of reason from protecting her brothers to "I won't be controlled by anyone and I can get rid of all this absurdity". This sentence referred to his experience witnessing the slavery in building the castle. So allowed the slave to take rest and that resulted in Yo's anger toward him. I think this is when he started to see the bigger and bigger picture of becoming a king. The reason grew from protecting the woman he loved to protecting his brothers and eventually protecting the people of the nation. He realized about the ragged nation under Yo's reign and he wanted to change that. That serves true to history though, as Gwangjong is the one who was confiscating private slaves through the law of emancipation of slaves. This just adds to his reason for becoming a king to PROTECT people rather than to CONTROL them.

I really didn't want to write anything about episode 16 today but seeing so many people bashing and misunderstanding WS and his motives during the break-up scene changed my mind. (BEWARE, the post is full of spoilers!)

    Wearing a Mask Again

For the nation and the royal family the king must be willing to throw everyone away… Then, who will you throw away? First I want to see that.” - The Grand General

What’s the most heartwrenching during their break-up is that in the end Wang Soo IS NOT breaking up with HS because she didn’t trust him BECAUSE HE HAS FORGIVEN HER just like he forgave her so many times before, or what’s even more likelier, he barely blamed her because he already knew about that letter she wrote (unfortunately, he didn’t look at it so he doesn’t know she has adopted his writing style). HE IS TRULY LYING TO HER BECAUSE HE IS PUSHING HER AWAY, using her distrust as his reason to break up with her. And for that purpose, he put on a mask, albeit it’s the first time he’s wearing a figurative one. Eun’s death made So realize how utterly powerless he is and unless he becomes the king and gains the ultimate power he will always watch helplessly as someone more powerful hurts the people he loves and cares about. WS knows that Soo is his greatest weakness, so he needs to push her away so PEOPLE WOULD THINK HE DOESN’T CARE ABOUT HER. It’s truly similar to their break-up after his marriage to Moo’s niece. On both instances he is doing it to protect someone, including HS. The second reason why he is pushing her away is the same as with the marriage - if he becomes a king, he won’t be able to make her his queen, he won’t be able to leave the palace with her and be free, so if he can’t live free with her HE IS SETTING HER FREE NOW, BECAUSE ONCE AGAIN HE BROKE HIS PROMISE TO HER.

    tumblr_of7lkhsfh31s8t96qo3_400.pngtumblr_of7lkhsfh31s8t96qo10_400.png

“I trusted you. I know it took me some time, but I truly trusted you. Enough that I would trust you in any situation. I realized how much I liked you.”

This is not the face of a man who is angry and disappointed, THIS IS A MAN WHO HAS A TIGHT LEASH ON HIS EMOTIONS, WHEN DID WS HAD EVER A TIGHT LEASH ON HIS EMOTIONS?! That’s why even HS can tell he is lying BECAUSE HE NEVER, EVER BEHAVED LIKE THIS - HE IS COLD AND CRUEL AND HER WOLF PRINCE WAS NEVER COLD AND CRUEL TO HER. And when she calls him out on his lie, he DELIVERS TO HER THE ULTIMATE BLOW, THE ULTIMATE LIE - reminding her of THEIR PROMISE NEVER TO LIE TO EACH OTHER. And LJG is epic because in the deep, dark pools of his eyes you can see how much it COSTS WS TO KEEP UP THE PRETENSE after SOO FINALLY TOLD HIM EVERYTHING HE EVER WANTED TO HEAR FROM HER AND GIVING HIM EVERYTHING - HER UNCONDITIONAL TRUST, LOVE AND ACCEPTANCE!

    tumblr_of7lkhsfh31s8t96qo6_400.pngtumblr_of7lkhsfh31s8t96qo5_400.png

When I look at you I can only remember what happened because of the lack of trust you had in me. Eun died because of you. I will remember how I had to kill him. In order to save you, I became the king’s dog and my feelings for you remained unchanged. Now they have changed.” - WS (EP16)

“Even if the person I want to avoid most is you, Your Highness? When I meet you, I recall everything I want to forget.” - HS (EP12)

They are so married that THEY EVEN HURT EACH OTHER THE SAME WAY, WITH THE MOST BRUTAL LIES! This is a throwback to the time HS tried to push So away after he came back to her from Later Jin. So has always quoted her and NOW HE QUOTES EVEN HER HURTFUL WORDS!

    tumblr_of7lkhsfh31s8t96qo4_400.pngtumblr_of7lkhsfh31s8t96qo2_400.png

THAT’S WHY HE LITERALLY PHYSICALLY COLLAPSES IN THE ASTRONOMICAL TOWER (even their reactions are SO SIMILAR, MY DOOMED BABIES!) - in that moment HE TAKES OFF THE MASK HE PUT ON IN FRONT OF SOO, SO HE COULD SAVE HER FROM EVERYONE, INCLUDING HIMSELF. IT’S LIKE A MORTAL BLOW TO HIM- it took him all his willpower to hurt her and now HE COMPLETELY BREAKS DOWN BECAUSE HE THINKS HE TRULY LOST HER FOREVER.

    Spoiler

Very well said. I think LJG's acting is superb enough (like always) that we can tell exactly what's his motive for breaking with Soo. So is always like an open book thanks to LJG's acting. Even if he put his mask very well to others, he couldn't lie to Soo, and that's why Soo waited for So because she never believed his lie, which is very similar with how So never believed her lie and still proposed to her to take her out of the palace on eps 12. When he got shot by that (cupid) arrow, the first thing he did was looking at her, realizing that it had to be because she was near him that Yo made her a target. That realization only made him tried harder to push her away because he realized that she would never be safe when she was around him.

The only way to save a weakness is by making everyone believe that weakness isn't his weakness anymore, and that's what he was trying to do for those 3 years. He tried his best to stay away from her, but the first place he visited when he got back was that lake side, the place where so many of their memories were created. And he even got on his knees for the 2nd time for her!! When he saw her at the lake side, he was out of his mask for a moment and you can see how vulnerable he was. He loved her so much that those parting words tore him as much as they tore her.

It's ironic though that when he reminded her about their promise not to lie to each other, he was indeed lying himself. Not enough with breaking the promises of marrying her and taking her out of the palace, now he had to break his promise to not lie to each other. And he had to blame her for breaking the promise he knew very well he was breaking himself, in order to save her. No wonder poor boy physically collapsed when he was alone. It was all too much for him.

  6. Spoiler

How come So didn't even get any treatments for his wound? He's still a prince afterall, it's so weird that he just lied there and waited for what? The wound to get better on its own? Well if Soo didn't come for his rescue, he might very well die from sepsis then. And I think back in Shinju when he got those scars, he wasn't treated well also, but he survived though, so why this one arrow affected him so much?. Or maybe Yo's arrow had something like poison or infectious agent that caused him fever? lol I'm putting too much thought on this drama I know

  7. Spoiler

Done watching eps 16. I feel empty though. Part of it must be because lack of engsub, but I think the major parts are:

    1. OTP scene is TOO SHORT. I feel that they did shoot more scenes than what we see here, but for whatever reason they decided to butcher OTP scene (like always) and that includes the scene on the still spoilers where So fed her. It goes so abruptly and with rocket speed from kissing to bed scene to shadow play to breakfast to stargazing. It would be very very nice if they show us what they do in between breakfast to stargazing, like maybe some deep convo about So's multiple scars because what's the point of making Soo looking at those scars if they don't use it for the plot? They may very well cut some Jung's scene for OTP. I'm so done looking at Jung (sorry Ji-soo, but your character just makes your face annoying for me).

    2. Eun's death and So's heartbreak are too much to handle, and I can't help but blaming Soo all the way. I can't stand Eun's and So's interaction when Eun asked So to kill him. And how So was literally breaking when he did kill him (he laughed so crazily that at one moment I thought he had gone insane, LJG's acting is on different level here). I cried when So killed Eun but I cried even harder when I see Soo because it's her fault that all of those happened. I always said she didn't deserve So and I always took that back, but I don't think I'll still cut her some slack after this. I don't blame So for breaking with her though, she needed some reflections and the sense of losing him because this was really the first time she was on the edge of losing him. And even when So broke with her, he was just torturing his own heart. The writer really loves to torture So by giving him little hope and breaking him in full force after.

    3. Jung and Soo can be perfect couple living in denial world. One prefers to live in her premonition, while the other lives in his imaginary world where So is the evil beast. If it's not for the fact that So will be heartbroken beyond repair, I will give full support for Jung-Soo couple. Seriously, these two's level of ignorance is killing me slowly, and the possibility of them hurting So in the future makes me gritting my teeth.

    4. Soo should know at this point how dishonesty is the culprit that breaks her relationship with So. Yet, how many secrets she's still hiding from him? I'm not sure she will tell him about (1) relationship with Wook, and (2) she comes from future. Well maybe no (2) is too difficult, but how about no (1)? Does she even bother to talk about that? Simply because So doesn't ask so she doesn't have to tell him? Hell, So actually asked her twice and she didn't even bother to tell him. Like seriously, this girl hasn't learn her lesson yet? Does she need another person dying because of her that she will really learn?

At this point I don't care about So-Soo anymore. I just want So to be happy, like everlasting happiness, not those happy little moments that can't even counterattack the major heartbreaks he gets later.

WANG SO'S HAPPINESS, is that too much to ask? PD-nim? :bawling:

  8. It's good that Hae Soo will become a queen but her interaction with Wook (eventhough that bracelet breaking is good) and the way So hugs her are giving me bad feeling. Looks like So still doesn't know about her past with Wook, and now that Wook is angry, he will go full force and tell So everything about him and Soo. Even if Wook doesn't do that, I believe YH will do the same thing soon. And So is becoming....more possessive towards Soo? that way he hugs her is unusual.. Gosh I hope his possessiveness doesn't damage the love they've been building so far.

Somehow the female voice (idk who, queen Yo? YH?) at the beginning saying that "if you wanna be the owner of the palace, you must give up certain things" gives a hint of what will happen when So becomes a king.

I have a bad feeling about our OTP. Please, please show, don't give us full happiness on eps 16 only to break it on eps 17. Soo becoming a queen itself is already different from C-BBJX, so I beg for different ending also :bawling:

  9. I know it's a grave condition for us moon lovers, but we should be glad that all other channels don't air the eps 16 though. Imagine how the already single digit rating will be if they air it before SBS.

Given that, I still wanna curse the baseball game so badly. and SBS, how can they give us so many spoilers if they're not sure for eps 16 airing tonigh?

The thing about MLSHR is when you have too many good things, you know something bad will happen.
