Yay!! I'm so glad you're going to do it!   I definitely cannot write it (my Korean handwriting is atrocious... gotta practice before I do the postcards) but here's everything typed out so hopefully you can copy and paste it in the order you want :) (translations courtesy of @Ruizaio) (PS: how do you tag someone's username?)

me ranting about how sad So life is.......

    its a painful post... warning!!!

after Su gone you can't help but remember the little thing So said about her....

without Su he have no future,

    without Su he's nothing,

    without Su he can't live,

Su is his person , belong to him and his world.

and now Su is gone forever he resort back to his version when he first come to Songak but much much worse.. because he already taste the pure love and when he gain everything he lost everything too... for me So life started when he found Su and end when she gone...

So life much more sad than 4th in drama... Su is his world , his sun and his everything... 4th in drama still have a graceful queen and life that he have so much better than So before became a king... but So have snake YH as a queen , a son that he did't acknowledge because he know that child will became his enemy because YH is his mom... BA is gone and nobody else left.....

when So said life is fleeting? a vain and short life he remember saying its wrong cause he have Su by his side... and now she gone his life completely turn dark..  at least Taejo have Lady Oh by his side and when she dies he follow her... So can't even left and have to stay because remember what Su said when she demand his apology?? the higher you are the more you should care about justice... he's honoring Su thinking..

when you look at it... everything So does is based on Su... his life as a king based on what Su think... even after So dies he left Su memory as his heritage... Su is higher than anyone else and he make sure people know it even after he's gone...

this is what the definition of love for me....

The drama is intense. The two lead actors' chemistry is also intense. The effect on us is intense. So us shipping them with such intensity is alright.

btw, I'm new here. Not really new, but I've read a lot of pages in this thread. And I must say, before I came to this thread, I thought I have been a very keen observant because I have noticed a lot between JoonU. BUT AFTER I FOUND OUT ABOUT THIS THREAD AND READ A LOT OF HIDDEN MESSAGES, BE IT ON THE BTS OR ON THE ACTUAL SCENES, I found out that I'm not even qualified as a mere observant because YOU GUYS ARE VERY JJANG IN DISCOVERING EVERY DETAIL ABOUT OUR JOONU! I'm so happy I stumbled into this thread! I hope they would really end up with each other, and then have a happy family and then Joon Gi would be on The Return of Superman AND THEN I WOULD GLADLY WATCH THEIR FAMILY BLOOM.....Joon Gi being a goofy father and Ji Eun being strict but cute mother.... OK, IM ON DELULU MODE AGAIN :dizzy:

You gave a very nice prediction! I love it! We want. We wish. We hope. A fan can dream. :)

ETA: welcome to the thread! I hope you'll love this little space in the cyberspace for JoonU as much as we do. :)

Aw, that was such a great video! I can't believe there was someone who scolded you guys for that! So messed up! Anything that is successful in the realm of media is due to the fans. If they weren't going to acknowledge you guys, this person should have at least refrained from scolding you. In the words of Stephanie Tanner, "How rude!"

Out of curiosity @ruizaio, I know you said your friend had access to the full scripts. I was wondering if it was possible for you to confirm something, if possible (no pressure), for me about scenes that were possibly left out? I don't even know if these scenes exist, but I always thought it was odd that we didn't get them because they would support the narrative so well.

First scene in question: was there ever a scene where So confronted his mom about cutting that scar into his face? I thought it was so odd that this was never addressed. I know we had that last scene with him and her on her death bed where he confronts her for abandoning him, but he never mentions that she left that scar, does he? Or am I missing something? If not a confrontation between both of them, then at least a scene where someone finds out what she did. Jung would be the ideal choice since he brought it up briefly in episode 2. I just thought it was weird no one found out about the s*** she did to her own child!

Second scene in question: does a scene exist where So actually lays down his past to Soo? I know he briefly mentions stuff here and there, but we never see him tell her directly that his mother gave him that scar, his adopted mother abused him, he spent a terrible night in a wolves' den, etc. I feel like a scene like this would have been so emotionally impactful and would have made the OTP even stronger. It would have also been a great parallel to the terrible treatment So received in the beginning of episode 4, when he was relaying these very same things and was told off by his indifferent mother. How great would have a scene like this been? If an idiot like me can think of this, I feel like the writer would have had a way better scene planned out in her mind.

In general, I am just really curious of why So's past is never really addressed the same way it was from episodes 1-4. I know he grows up, matures, and tries to move past the pain, while clearly holding onto it (*cough*all that BS that went down in the last three episodes*cough*), but it seems odd to leave out confrontations and consolations such as these. Am I the only one curious about this?

20 episodes is not enough so there are a lot of questions unanswered. It's a pity really because the story is beautiful. :)

i still think i'll buy the postcards and pray the project will have some impact on them... why can't they see how much we love the drama and how desperate we are to have the DVD?

I said I won't send anymore but my conscience can't take it if i will not participate knowing that you guys are going to send. So i went to my nearest postshop and bought postcards.

    Spoiler

I cannnot find a special postcards that i will send to the director and writer so will just send these instead. But i am thinking of buying a special christmas cards to be sent to them. I will c/o it to the company address since @ruizaio said they belong to the same company - baramibunda, inc.

@ilovecoffeeandbooks can you please write the translated words in a white plain background? So i can just print and stick to the postcards. I don't want to write it because i might not write it properly.

@liddi It's my bad. I forgot to include the "if they do a release" part when I wrote the English version. They may still do a release regardless of what the fans request, but it has not been confirmed.

@freckledcontessa Unfortunately, we already asked for a photobook as well as other goodies to be included when we contacted them and they said no. They are not willing to spend more money on this.

O-M-G. To me, they are not really interested - at all. Something is wrong. Why are they acting like a 'beach'? I mean, it's not as if they will not profit from it. Are they that disappointed that they don't want to do anything with the most coveted unseen vids? The beautiful high quality pics?

Honestly, I am not angry. I pity the cast  members because their work is not being marketed properly by the same team that made them. If there is a demand then there should be supply. We are pleading i mean demanding and surely they will not be at a loss. Again, it goes back to why they are acting like they don't care. That precious root cause answer to the analysis is elusive at the moment. To whoever who is privy to that said answer, please pm me, i guarantee absolute confidentiality.

I become afraid every time we meet. I know that I had feelings for another. So why is it that I can’t let you go and ignore you?

I want to talk about Soo for awhile. Episode 12 was the episode that made me think “Yes. Soo is definitely in love with So.”

I think one of the reasons the lovelines were contentious is that they overlapped. There was no clean break. Soo didn’t stop having feelings for Wook, and then start having feelings for So – her feelings for So began while she had feelings for Wook. Based on episode 11, and the spoilers about something happening that would change the nature of Soo and Wook’s relationship forever, I thought Wook turning his back on Soo when she needed him the most was going to result in the swift death of that ship.

But it didn’t… not quite. Soo’s own words reflect that the events surrounding Lady Oh’s death solidified So’s presence in her heart, but they didn’t deliver the anticipated killing blow to her relationship with Wook. I was puzzled and dismayed by this at first. Why go so far as to show Wook literally turning his back on Soo, only for her to still have romantic feelings for him?

I think Soo was willing to give Wook a pass for not being there for her because she saw first-hand what happened to people who defied the king. Lady Oh died, even though Taejo loved her. So was sent away. Soo herself became a laundry maid. Soo didn’t know Wook didn’t come for her because he was covering up Yeon-hwa’s wrongdoings. As far as she knew, he couldn’t throw everything away and come for her – and given what happened to people who did, she couldn’t hold that against him.

In episode 13, she finds out otherwise. Wook wants the throne. He wanted to kill So. He used her and tested her, and tried to pretend it was for her sake. Soo saw through it, and that’s what kills her love for him – his desire for the throne, the fact he wanted to kill someone dear to her (even though he knew she blamed herself for Lady Oh’s death), and that he was lying about his own motivations. That was it. They were done.

This brings me to Soo’s reaction to Chae-ryung’s death. I know a lot of people felt like Soo’s reaction was overblown, and she should have been more understanding. I’m not sure. (This is an instance where the related deleted scenes probably would have made Soo’s reaction a lot easier to understand, because it would have given us more insight into their friendship.) It’s easy to say that So had to punish Chae-ryung and from the perspective of a monarch, it was the right thing to do (which it was) – but if I were to travel back in time to a place like Goryeo, I would probably feel just as horrified as Soo. I think she viewed Chae-ryung as not culpable because of her status in life, and I think that’s partially why Soo can’t understand So’s punishment – she told him, much earlier in the drama, that the people above should look out for the people below. No one ever looked out for Chae-ryung. I’m not trying to absolve Chae-ryung, but I think her position had a lot to do with Soo’s reaction.

And now, Soo is much, much, much more emotionally invested in her relationship with So than she ever was in her relationship with Wook. She probably knows she’s pregnant. So is the love of her life – but she still cares about other people, and feels responsible for them. What can she do?

Enter Wook’s punishment. I totally understand why people were upset about Soo kneeling for Wook, despite everything he had done. I was furious at him all over again when I rewatched episodes 14 and 16 – how dare Wook sneer at the possibility of anyone (eg. Soo) being upset over So’s wedding, and how dare he give Yo the idea to use So as his dog. What a sore loser. But Soo wasn’t privy to any of that. She was appalled to realize Wook wanted to kill So, and was disgusted when she realized Wook’s involvement in Mu’s poisoning and Eun and Soon-duk's deaths… but she wasn’t privy to Wook’s nastier moments in the same way the audience was. I often felt like the audience assessment of Soo not having the “right” reactions stemmed from us having the full picture, and Soo not having the full picture.

I’m of the opinion that Soo’s reaction to Wook’s punishment had much more to do with So than it did with Wook. She’s over Wook. She doesn’t think he deserves a free pass. By begging for Wook’s life, she’s trying to save So’s soul. She doesn’t want him to become the bloody monarch history declares him to be. She doesn’t want him to descend any further. I know it seems like Soo gave everyone chances except for So… but I think it’s because she’s so emotionally invested in their relationship, and loves him so much, that she expects more from him. Their relationship in Goryeo was doomed because he couldn’t understand her perspective, and she could never fully assimilate and throw away her 21st century morals. But I don’t think that their relationship was toxic, or that she didn’t love him enough, or he didn’t love her enough. I think it was a matter of timing.

Rewatching the last few minutes of Ha-jin crying over the portrait of Gwangjong makes me feel sad for her all over again. I'm extrapolating from what little we know of her backstory, honestly (once again - I'd love to see the deleted scenes that elaborated upon it, cough cough) but I kind of got the feeling that Ha-jin was actually lonely and had a bit of an inferiority complex - that she never received the depth of love she extended to others (until she met So). And that's partially why she had difficulty coming to terms with her feelings for him. All of a sudden, she was the first priority of this incredibly loving, imperfect person. And who was she, that he would put his life on the line for her?

On a completely different note, if we can’t have a director’s cut DVD, I hope the production team releases a photobook. All the photos in the PD Note are so gorgeous… it would be a shame not to release them.

    This!

I completely agree and would really love if they release a photobook, coffee-table book or whatever they want to call it as long as the beautiful pictures are in there. It would be an awesome additional memento to MLSHR.

@ruizaio is it possible to make such request to the production team? Limited numbers of copies will do but i hope we all can get a copy.

I was OK with the ending but unfortunately DVD news came today right after I watched ep.20 and it killed my day(( I agree that ML is a great love story and sometimes love cannot win over life, but nevertheless this ending is so cruel :tears: I will put my lamenting in a spoiler, just need to write it out..

      Hide contents

HS lived in an alien era, was tortured and betrayed, made hips of wrong decisions but always tried to keep her principles and be a good person. Finally she was able to be with the man she truly loved, but it very soon came out that indeed love is not enough. She left WS, lived missing him every moment and wished to see him one more time, but died with a doubt if WS resented her till the end. She woke up as GHJ and seemed to be quite happy except having nightmares, but JM had to come with a cryptic face and force her memories. So she ended up with crying in front of the picture feeling sorry and guilty and supposedly again longing for that man who died 1000years ago....the end.

WS was abused as a child and treated as an animal until he met HS, the one who taught him love. It took him several years of sacrifice, rejections, humiliation, desperation to finally gain her heart but eventually he made a decision that he needs power as well. He succeeded and became the king, however very soon it came out that he couldn't have both power and love. He was forced to marry the woman he didn't love, to kill people close to ones he loved. Finally he was forced to let HS go for reasons he could not understand, jealousy and anger deprived him of a chance to see his love before she died so he had to live long years with this guilt and regrets. Left by everybody, WS in despair promises to find his Soo... the end.

If I saw HS died and didn't wake up as GHJ, and WS died saying Soo name that's the end, sad but ok. If they showed their meeting in modern time, even only 5minutes that's fine. But they chose to leave them suffering endlessly both so miserable and desperate!! And the fact that we all know they filmed that scene just makes me mad. Piggyback is beautifully done and I was happy to see them happy, but to think about WS lines when he denied that life is fleeting- I was telling him back "no, WS, your father was right, life IS fleeting, your happiness will last less than a year and then you'll be suffering till you die and HS will be suffering till she dies and even after she dies!" And I will suffer with you, poor me :tears:

I cried reading the text you wrote in the spoiler. I do not know your location, i wish you are near so i can hug you. Instances like this, geography is a richard simmons. Please know that i do not pity you, i totally understand, and it's normal. This phase will pass. :)

BS means behind the scene?? the actors (Lee Jun Gi, IU, Jong Jong Huyn, KHN..v..v.. don't want to show others behind the scene except those already shown??? am I right? If that, I think we should respect their will.

    Correct me if I'm wrong!!!

Hi! You qouted @ruizaio, those are hers. :)

Anyway, BS is a short cut for this.  Behind The Scene is BTS. English is kind of hard to learn on top of that there are acronyms and slangs and idioms, too. But you can always rely on google. Or if you can't find the meaning, please feel free to PM me and i will try to explain to the best of my ability. :) Your english is not bad, you were able to express clearly and that is all that matters. Grammar and sentence construction doesn't define your thoughts. :)

Annyeong yeorobun! Just want to share this info I posted on the JoonU thread to give us some hope.

@freckledcontessa I can confirm that the reason given to our DVD team was indeed made up. Ruizaio said:

They may release a DVD set with aired episodes (they didn't specify which version) with some of the deleted scenes as special features, but they claimed they didn't know how much of the deleted scenes would be available because they fear the actors won't agree to release their publicity rights for them (which is total BS, they're just not willing to admit there are deleted scenes and are even denying what the actors have said in their interviews).

The actors' rights are always completely settled at the front end when they sign on board to do a project. Entertainment contracts never specify specific scenes but are always all encompassing. Even knowing how different SK entertainment contracts are to those here in the US, contracts in general aren't written that way because of the intellectual property involved.

I can't even begin to guess why they gave the reason that they did, but it could be because 1) don't want to tip their hand regarding the feature film, or 2) can't mention it because the ownership and distribution rights have changed hands because of the feature film. The latter reason would not give them clearance to share any information since their rights are now limited.

Actually, now that I think about it...at the core, a portion of their reason makes sense (not about the actors' publicity rights but specific to the deleted scenes). If many or all of the deleted scenes were meant to be used in the feature film, they definitely no longer have rights to them. The question now is whether the new production company for the feature -- should be a combo of the production companies...GT Entertainment (PD Kim's company) for sure plus the investors...NBCUniversal Television International also for sure as they will be the distributor -- will proceed with the film. The making and distribution of the film will of course require an additional investment that would have been projected when the agreements were first drafted and executed. They would have set up targeted ROIs (return on investment), KPIs (key performance indicators), and/or benchmarks that would have to be met in order for them to proceed with part II, the feature film.

I think what might be working in our favor is that our Director's Cut DVD team is proving to them that there's a vested target audience in place for the feature film and perhaps a re-envisioned DVD set.  What I'm suggesting means we still have hope. Unfortunately, we might not know anything till January, well after the submissions for the Hong Kong International Film Festival.

As I mentioned previously, the deadline for submission of a feature film is Dec. 31. If Joongi is nominated for Best Actor for the SBS Drama Awards, it would actually provide good momentum for any marketing of the feature.

Regarding the submission of the feature film for the Hong Kong International Film Festival, see my original post below which speaks to that. Sorry...never posted it here in the main thread.

Sigh. TBH, I hate it that we are at their mercy.

It's hard to be a fan. But they give additional meaning to our lives so i really can't complain.

    Let's use the same analogy:

Their 1 failure = MLSHR's poor domestic ratings in SK

Their other successes = MLSHR's huge success outside of SK

Should the production team & PD simply just use SK as the sole factor to define MLSHR as a failure and ignore its success everywhere else then?

    * * * * * * * * *

I also hope that their reluctance is perhaps due to them possibly planning for a project (e.g. movie maybe?)  and until details and negotiations are finalized, everything is shrouded in secrecy and reluctance.

For me personally, using the actors/actresses as shields or excuses is just plain cheap shot -- they know the actors/actresses will be unable to fire back.

I want to believe that they are planning something bigger and better for the fans. Because it's plain cruelty if it's not. But at the end of the day, that's their karma, it's not ours.

Using the actors as a reason is BS to me. Their reluctance is the missing puzzle on the picture. It's crazy trying to solve it. So let's just sit back and relax and wait. The stress is not worth it. Besides, botox and numerous derma trips are expensive. :D

I understand that you want to be fair to them, and I gave the production team the benefit of the doubt while the drama was airing. And while I love Moon Lovers (this drama has a strange hold on me), the drama has a lot of problems, most of which became nearly unbearable for me towards the end of the run. Frankly, I'll be as harsh as I want. lol They had everything they needed for a true runaway hit, but there is no denying that there were some serious missteps here. Them being very good in their fields is a matter of opinion, and how they handled Moon Lovers lowered my esteem of them.

Is there a valid reason behind their reluctance? One can only speculate. Given everything I've read about them (what went on during production and their attitude after) and their unwillingness to work with fans (even going so far as to blame the cast, when it was the cast who mostly saved the drama from being a complete disaster) has left a bad taste in my mouth. Bad enough that I will certainly judge them on their awkward handling of such a huge project with enormous potential that ultimately didn't reach as high as it could've. Don't get me wrong - I find this drama amazing in its own ways (if I truly hated it, I wouldn't be as obsessed as I am now, even weeks after it ended). But Moon Lovers will always be haunted by 'what-ifs' and 'what-could-have-beens', and a part of me will resent this production team every time I think about it. But that's just me.

Thank you for thinking i am trying to be fair. TBH, i just want to know the root cause of their reluctance. Because there lies the answer. Anyway, like you said that's your opinion. At the end of the day, only them know the real reason/s. And that/those reason/s is/are their karma. Whatever that phrase means. Let's just agree to disagree. XX

    ...

I thought about that, too. But let's not be too harsh. They are very good in their fields and defining them with just one of their work is too much. I know there is a very valid reason behind their reluctance. I maybe wrong though. :)

I'm not at liberty to disclose specific numbers, but this particular director has released director's cut Blu-ray/DVDs for some of his previous works at less than 1/10 of the number of responses as MLSHR. This is why I keep saying he's the evil queen Yu and MLSHR is Wang So. Other works were pleasing to him like Yo and Jung, but he ruined MLSHR and can't stand to deal with it anymore.

He was so disappointed with the ratings that he can't even grant our request. Or they are planning something better and bigger for the fans. I want to believe it's the latter. Because i really think they're mad for not wanting to capitalise on the popularity of the drama. *Sigh* Oh well.

Unfortunately, the director and production companies have refused to release a DVD/Blu-ray set that combines the two versions and deleted scenes. Thus, the Korean fan team has given up on this effort. We are trying to e-mail all the respondents of the demand survey, but didn't realize that gmail has a limit on how many people can receive the same e-mail at once. I do not understand why they are reluctant. But if that is their decision i can't do anything. I will respect it. But I will not send postcards anymore. I will not pester them. I will not beg. I'm sorry @ilovecoffeeandbooks, i can't participate in the postcards thingy anymore. But that's just me. I hope you understand. XX

You guys, it finally showed up! My impulse buy after crying my eyes out rewatching the ending... MY DAMIWON BLANKET AND GWANGJONG BAG!!! I'm so happy!!! I tell myself I ordered to support the LJG Daily photobook project but really it's just retail therapy to soothe my broken heart. (I may or may not have ordered another bag and a coffee mug but they haven't gotten here yet).

I have to share with you because no one else in my life cares about this but you guys. My husband very reluctantly took this picture so I could show you guys (His exact words, "Really? Really, you're going to post this on your forum? *eye roll* Omg, you have to put the show on too?!") He's very patiently waiting for my MLSHR fever to die down...Haha, little does he know!
