  1. @greenwatch08 Like a lot of others, I, too, am frustrated with SRY and OSA's "relationship."  I like your point about IC being about second chances and yet these two cannot move on because they refuse to cut ties with each other.  My take on this (and I have not read the webtoon so I'm just going off the drama) is that SRY cannot cut his tie to OSA because she's one of his last remaining connections to his father.  I think that at this point, his "feelings" for her are more a habit than real, genuine feelings.  However, his life and growth has been stunted in that his father was killed and then he went off to prison.  He didn't get the normal experiences with a safety net that most teenagers have as they transition to adulthood.  Even before his life fell apart, he was pretty stubborn and probably had his own psychological issues.  I don't think it's normal for someone to be as stubborn and disassociated from others as he is.  Actually, that part of his character somewhat confuses me because he has this incredibly strong sense of a black/white wrong vs right that makes him intercede on behalf of others when he sees a "wrong" happening.  However, he's not completely empathetic towards others.  It's more like it's the right vs wrong that bothers him rather than what people feel.

I did not like OSA and have a hard time understanding her.  In Episode 12, I thought I saw some redeeming signs in her, like her anger towards GS on behalf of the Danbam team.  However, her behavior still frustrates me to no end.  I think she is scared to let go of her security (which is Jangga), and I'm not sure if she really actually likes SRY, or if she is also afraid to cut ties with him because of who he is in relation to his father.  And, I think she also feels like she can't cut ties with him because of the guilt that she feels towards him.  It's like the detective--his guilt made him work with SRY and supply goods to SRY, but he couldn't (until recently) do the one thing that SRY actually needed him to do.  OSA feels guilt towards SRY and SRY's father so she stays near him.  However, her fear of being a helpless orphan keeps her firmly controlled by Jangga.

I AM SO LOVING THIS DRAMA.  And I'm dying to know what will happen next.

    1. Ok makes sense, but then why did he log in 145 times? if he was not leveling up, trying to help or was actually evil? I was waiting for some sort of explanation for him having so many logins...

About CEO Park's logins... you don't log in just to play the game.  As the acting CEO and the actual CEO after JW was deposed, he would need to log in to the game to see how it's progressing.  When the coders create a new something or other, he would need to log in to see how it actually looks.  Logging in also allows you to see or find other players.  HJ was never an active player or an ally, but she logged in when she wanted to find JW.

Jin Woo's reason is slightly different to use the instance dungeon. He isn't hiding from the police nor from other NPC's. He is what I believe in self inflicted redemption.  The whole Jesus Christ and religious connotations that were referred to in the final episode were implying that he brought this suffering to himself. Although, I am particularly disappointed with the use of religion in this drama because religion is a sensitive topic and should have been handled with care. But anyways. Hence, where SJ chose to hide in the dungeon, JW chose to redeem himself and become the ultimate sacrifice.

Oooh, so insightful.  I never thought about it like this.  Probably bc I was too mad about the ending and I had too much going on irl to really think through this drama and its ending.

Btw, I was going to leave it alone, but came back because I realized I still had another peeve to vent. Why so little JW except in flashbacks in these final episodes? And, heck, other than the silhouette of him as the gaming guardian or whatever at the end, it was all flashbacks for the final episode. Grrrrr. We got closure for all of these random side characters who I didn't care that much about, but JW doesn't even make a true appearance. It's just everyone worrying about him. I'm sure this has been raised by other people, but my misplaced faith that the plot will give us something was just soooo wrong. I'm getting grumpier the more I think about it, so I've been trying to distract myself with other things, but had this one last vent. Done now. I think. :)

OMG, yes!  I think this is part of what bothered me, too, only I didn't realize it until you pointed it out.  Why is one of the main characters missing in the last episode??? Perhaps, they ran over budget and couldn't pay him?  Just joking here.  Please, no one take this seriously.  I have no idea what this drama's budget is, or what they paid each actor.

A lot of things didn't make sense to me like....

    1. I was actually surprised when CEO Park logged in the game...and it was his 145th login...what does that mean? he knew of the zombies and had also seen the zombies and NPCs? he could also see Dr. Cha? He also played the game? I was waiting for an explanation....

    2. After everyone had died as a result of the game, why would CEO Park accept for the game to be released???? what would ensure the safety of the users this time around? and what would ensure that the bug will not somehow appear again because of something between the new users like what happened to Marco and SJ?

    3. If JW decided to stay in the game's dungeon like SJ what was his reason for this? SJ stayed there because it was too dangerous and he was scared of Zombie Marco...but at this point all the bugs had been deleted and it was now "safe" right? no more Zombie Dr Cha etc...unless he is somehow stuck in there and if he is stuck does it mean he is waiting for someone to come "rescue" him?

    4. I know someone attempted to explain this but why wasnt Zombie Marco deleted as a bug? or were the only bugs deleted the ones related to Zinu?

    1.  CEO Park can't see the zombies and NPCs because he was not Zinu's ally.  Only his allies see his buggy enemies and are in danger.

    2.  After the bugs are deleted and the game is reset, CEO Park lets the game be released bc it's actually safe now.  For one, Emma is deleted as well.  Emma, according to JW (and I'm assuming he explained this to CEO Park at some point) is what caused the bug in the first place when Marco stabbed SJ.  Without Emma, the bug/virus can't be created again.  Second reason for the game release?  Money.  JOne spent 1 year on developing the game. And, they knew it was going to be such a big hit that I think they expended a LOT of resources to develop it.  Without releasing it, the company would have gone bankrupt.

    3.  I'm guessing that JW is trapped in the dungeon.

    4. I also don't know why Marco hasn't been deleted as a bug.

I’m guessing that after JW was “debugged,” he needed to create the instance dungeon to hide from the police in the real world and from NPCs in the game world. That’s the only way he can relax and live.

I think JW is trapped and not so much that he actually created an instance dungeon as a safe place.  I don't think he's running from the police because he would know that once the bugs are deleted, that there would be no proof of anything.  He's known all along that the police had no proof that he killed his friend so I don't think he was ever worried about that.  The only reason he was worried at all is because he knew that Professor Cha was up to something.

And, my reaction to this the ending is, "that's it?"  Seriously?  That's all that we are left with?  Nothing is really clarified, and there were way too many flashbacks in this last episode.  And all for what?  Just to hear that JW is trapped somewhere?  And, how would he have even known how to create an instance dungeon?  Correct me if I'm wrong, but he was an engineer and I don't think his specialty was in gaming.  Remember, it's Team Manager Choi who does all the coding and has to explain the game to JW in the beginning.  JW only learned the game by playing it; I don't think he knows how to actually code a game.  I just hate it when dramas end with a big dud.  It happens so often with Kdramas and I don't know why.  They do such a great job, and then the end is a big, fat dud.  It's like the entire production suddenly lost all funding and budgeting and they had to just wrap it up last minute.  I mean, we don't even see trapped JW and HJ meeting.  And, it still makes no sense.  SJ was trapped (or I guess hiding?) in an instance dungeon.  JW, it seems, can leave it to help other players?  Again, makes no sense.

So a player wins and become a new master. Okay I like this part. But what's the point of becoming a new master then? can JW save or hide himself like SJ and create his secret quest so that they can fix the bug by eliminating it. Emma is deleting the bug by stabbing JW. is he the bug?? LOL. How could she think that he is the bug? i mean, what makes her think by stabbing him will delete the bug? I don't get this part seriously. the game virus has turned the game to be so random like now. LOL. Why did Emma do this? is it because she was programmed to do so or it was due to the game virus as the writer mentioned. Why oh why I keep asking till the end but never really got a proper answer to this.

Did JW become the new Master?  Or is he just at master level now?  I didn't quite catch that.

If you look at what the writer said, then stabbing JW to remove the virus makes sense.  I think the writer said that players who had the intent to kill corrupted the game.  Marco first corrupted it when he stabbed SJ.  I'm not sure why it then pulled SJ into the virus as well, unless once unleashed the virus just kept going and infecting others.  But, I also think that when SJ pulled his game gun, he was scared enough that he was thinking to kill Marco.  When JW and HS dueled, they both used the game to get back at one another.  They thought it was a safe place to "kill" each other, and that intent allowed the virus to infect them as well.  I don't think that Emma has to stab the Master in order to reset the game; she just needs to stab anyone who was infected by the virus.

Hopefully, there will be more explanation in tomorrow's episode.  How in the world did SJ hide inside a dungeon that exists in the game only?  Doesn't that mean there was an actual alternate reality universe somewhere?  He hasn't aged (I know it's only been a year, but it was a year full of stress and anxiety), he hasn't lost weight (how in the world, or should I say AR world, did he feed himself?), his clothes have not been reduced to rags.  After Episode 14, I thought the game ate up JW, but I guess not.

Indeed. This drama lacks so much detail unless it is PPL related. There was even a backstory for those dangling earrings, a virtual box for that breitling watch, subway (lots and lots of it) as health points, the dyson vacuum to suck dust while you await for JW to call, HJ's multiple lipsticks and time spent for her to choose and apply them, that health drink, coffee (with an extra shot). And cars. Lots of Lexus cars. Everyone has one. Even Seo had a Lexus Sports Car (he is a very rich secretary) and also Bro-no-bro has a Lexus car too. *i think thats all the PPL in here. Or did i miss anything hehe*

Many Kdramas these days have tons of PPL.  I remember when it seemed like Subway was taking over Kdramas because they were appearing in all of the ones that I was watching.  Dyson seems to be trying to give Subway a run for its money in Kdrama PPL because I'm seeing those Dysons in a lot of Kdramas as well.  I at least like how the Subway PPL is done in MotA since its actually integrated into the plot.  The lipstick collection was very obvious and not done well at all, but perhaps they paid less into the drama.

I think it's interesting that even dramas like MotA that heavy hitters like Hyun Bin and Park Shin Hye need PPLs.  Or, perhaps its because they have heavy hitters who are expensive that they need more PPLs?  Actually, I bet that even without the heavy hitters, they would need a lot of PPLs because this drama uses a lot of CGI.  It may not be as expensive CGI as in Games of Thrones (for example), but there is still a lot of it and I'm guessing it's expensive.  I'm sure they got a lot of money, too, from Netflix but even with all that, they still need a lot of PPL.

You know..he could actually not fight alone from the beginning if he just included HJ in his game plan. Sec seo's death is still pointless. I dont know why he needed to die when he can be a better ally when alive. Oh well. Its already ep 14. Lets the past be past and move on. Hahaha

Sec Seo is actually better as a dead ally.  Since he is already dead, he cannot die again in the game.  Once he appears, he single-handedly destroys all enemies.  As a logged in player (as opposed to an NPC), he was not as advanced in the game.  I think JW actually hurt his game-playing abilities by giving him advanced weapons instead of letting him earn them in the game.  Yes, it's slow going, but it builds practice.  Perhaps it wouldn't have made a difference anyway because the reality of the game is that JW is too high level of a player.  Enemies are drawn to him and mob him.  Anyone else not at his level really doesn't have any chance of survival.  For example, if Sec Seo was on that train to Granada by himself, or at the station by himself without JW being nearby, I don't think he would have been bombarded by all those assassins.  For JW to include HJ in the game would be a death sentence for her.  Bc she's NOT Emma, so she doesn't have Emma's ability to create a duel-free zone.

  8. I hate to propose this, but here's my theory:  I don't think there is anything necessarily wrong with the game per se.  Rather, I think that playing the game does something to the player's minds such that it creates hallucinations.  I hate this theory, but I can totally see KDrama going this route.  It seems to me to be the only solution, such as why the Secretary died and the hospital suspects it was from a brain hemmorage.  Of course, it doesn't quite explain how Cha died with all the blood drained out of him.  Actually, that's the only thing that would not make sense with my theory.  Otherwise, I think that everything else would fit.  JW falling down the stairs caused his injuries and everything else since then are hallucinations.  His secretary (sob!!!) died from an aneurysm (from game overload to the senses).  As for Professor Cha, well, he's such a cantankerous old man that the first time logging in caused too much sensory overload.  Or, someone is helping JW (like the head programmer guy) and he created a special version so that deceased Cha would appear in front of Professor Cha.

  9. So another movie project that I hope to see PHS in is the sageuk/zombie fantasy movie that Hyunbin is going to be in.  Apparently, Jang Dong Gun is also in talks about being in the movie.  The reason I would like to see PHS in it are: (1) it already has 1 top star and potentially 2 so that's where all the pressure will be; (2) PHS would only have a supporting role so it would be a good career/publicity move for him; (3) it's sageuk (although I do think he only looks good when his hair is pulled off his forehead); (4) it's action; (5) it's zombies.

Now, this is just a wish that I have.  I know nothing about this movie other than that Hyunbin has signed on, Jang Dong Gun is in talks, and it's a sageuk/zombie fusion fantasy movie.  So, I don't even know that there would be an appropriate role for PHS.  But, I think I want his first movie to be as a supporting role with some known top stars.  That way, the top stars will bring in the audience, and even if the movie ultimately doesn't do well, the finger-pointing won't necessarily be at PHS.  Quite frankly, I think that his acting is at a level where no matter if the project doesn't do well, the audience and directors will realize his acting talent.

Thanks for posting with the English subtitles! Hopefully KBS has some interest in him . You have to have a hit drama on KBS to be really successful- I read somewhere in the past ! Praying it happens for our talented and handsome hero -that way we get to see him more too , not just in reruns and videos and on the internet!

Technically, he was in a hit KBS drama--WHTMF.  He wasn't the "lead" per se, but that drama had several leads and he played one of the main roles.  It was a weekend drama that earned over 30% in ratings.  That helped him get the HS role, but he did take quite a break after HS.  Not sure what happened--if it was bad or poor management by Star Empire or what, but he took a break for a while, and then suddenly had a jam-packed schedule again--musical, Hwarang filming, SWDBS.  I read in one interview where he said that he is always happy to do variety programs but they hadn't been calling him for a while.

Quite honestly, I'm a little confused by his lack of greater popularity and opportunities.  Im Siwan just took off as an actor and has never really looked back.  It's like people all forget that he was an idol and he's doing dramas and movies.  Then there are those other alleged acting-dols who cannot act, and yet have gotten both drama and movie roles.  Sure, they are minor and small roles and it's not like they're receiving praise for their roles, but they are still getting them (or they did get them).  As much as I want to see PHS doing another drama (for purely selfish reasons), I really, really want him to get a good movie role because that will raise his star rating and earning power.

thanks to our friend who shared "The Race", i was thinking of what type of car does he own? :D BMW?  is he a car guy? i bet he is :)

I don't think he drives a BMW.  I believe there were some articles when The Racer first came out bc he was driving a BMW in that show and PHS had to clarify that yes, he was driving a BMW for the show, but it was not his own personal vehicle.  In Celebrity Bromance, you can see that he drives some sort of SUV, but the make is blurred out so I can't tell, but it doesn't look like a BMW to me.

After he moved to UAA and after SWDBS ended, PHS stated in an interview that he still wanted to continue singing.  In fact, he wants to release a ballad album.  He enjoys singing and until his album is released (bc it won't be any time soon since he admits that he needs more training) he'll greet his fans through OSTs.  There was also another interview where he talked about how he likes singing in OSTs and he wonders if perhaps its his own greed to want to sing them, but luckily, the SWDBS director also wanted him to sing the OST.

Who else here prefer PHS OST  " I'll be here"  than  "Because of you" ? I can't explain it but i really do like I'll be here more than the other one :(

I actually prefer You're My Love from High Society.  At first, I didn't really like it, but it's really grown on me.  It features his voice in his higher range and it's a happy song.  I think that I'll be Here was more officially produced than Because of You.  The reason I say this is because you can hear his lack of breath control in Because of You whereas in You're My Love and I'll be Here, it's been edited out quite a bit.  Or perhaps, it just the versions of Because of You that I've been able to access.  It still isn't available on iTunes in the U.S. so I can only listen to what's available online, and it's not the best quality.  I have to crank up the volume for that song because the quality just isn't very good.

My real favorites are actually some of his live or lip-synced "live" performances.  I love his duet with Kwanghee (Don't Say Goodbye), Cherry Blossom Ending (too bad he doesn't sing it all the way through), and Gift from his Healing Camp appearance.  His Some duet at the KBS awards ceremony was cute, except for the fact that Nam JiHyun is tone deaf (which she admits).

  13. Here's another little gem that I found.  Apparently, after WHWMF, PHS and his on-screen rival Seo Kang Jun held some fan meetings in Japan.  They end the meeting with the two singing the main (or one of the main) theme songs.  Only it's a girl's song so I think the key was off and both guys are singing in a range that is too low for them.  Then suddenly, PHS--our tenor--goes up an entire octave and belts it out.  Unfortunately, the camera was focused on Seo Kang Jun at the time, but you see his little shock and the camera then pans out to show them both.

You're right thinking about it there aren't many good actresses in their early 20's/30's that can be paired with PHS. He was already paired with two popular actresses in Hwarang and SWDBS but I can't think of anyone else who would suit him age wise?

You do make a good point that nowadays many actresses from the 90's generations don't have that star power that older actresses like HJW, JJH, Lee Dae Ha etc. had in their prime.

I know it's a stretch to pair him with HJW but honestly, that woman looks ageless and she's an amazing actress. I think PHS would really benefit a lot of from acting with her and I've never come across a popular k-drama/film where there is a love story around an older woman younger man falling in love and struggling to make things work. I think that would be a breath of fresh air compared to all the other dramas that are currently being made.

Why is it that there are talented young actors, but no actresses that fit PHS' age group?  You'd think it would be the opposite because of the males going to the military.  Or perhaps that's the reason why--the age-compatible actors are in the military so they pull younger actors.  Although, I don't think that's it either.  I honestly can't think of many actresses who have actual acting chops.  And perhaps some of that is because of this newish trend of pairing older actresses with younger actors--the younger actresses just don't have the opportunity to play more roles.

Actually, oh probably about 5-7 years back, it was the trend to have dramas about "cougar" pairings--older woman, younger man.  The only one that specifically comes to mind is Oh My Lady with Choi Siwon (of SuJu) and Chae Rim.  I watched it bc I was a fan of Chae Rim (bc of All About Eve) and how can you resist the pretty that was Choi Siwon back then.  Off topic, but it makes me wonder if PHS' looks will start changing too as he gets older.  Anyway, Oh My Lady is about an older woman and how she ends up getting together with a hot younger man.  Around the time of that drama, it was the trend to have these older woman-younger man plots.

For some reason, these days they are just pairing older actresses with younger actors, but the plot is that they are of equal age, or the guy is even maybe a year older.  For example, Moon Embracing the Sun, You From Another Star, Legend of the Blue Sea, The King 2 Hearts, etc.  I still don't understand why they do this bc I don't care how good the actress looks--I still know how old they are.  It was like Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher.  It didn't matter how good Demi looked at her age bc we all knew that she was still old enough to be his mom.

SHK is beautiful but she s actually the reason I did not finish watching DOTS. (Ok, don't shoot me, peace).  I really liked her during the Full House time, but since then, I keep giving up watching her dramas, something about her acting.

I'll protect you if there are any shooters. For some reason, I didn't like Full House.  Actually, I know the reason: I didn't like either Rain or SHK.  With Rain, it was an appearance thing--I think he (with his baby face) was miscast for that role.  With SHK, I think it was her acting--she was too green and I couldn't get over the clothes padding.  Bc I didn't like her in Full House, I didn't watch anything else that she was on.  When DoS came out, I just wasn't interested in watching it after realizing that it was her.  The age difference between her and SJK also bothered me.  They're actually not too apart in age, but she is older and bc she had been acting for so long, I presumed that she was even older.  And I remembered SJK from his Running Man days (soooo long ago) that I thought he was younger.

Would you believe if i say that i have a hang up with go ara that i want them to work together as lead they really had a sizzling chemistry even if it was only coming from phs you could still feel it even with pby i feel the chemistry was 70 to 30 that said the 70 was from phs.

I cannot.  It would certainly be a lot of pretty, but after Hwarang, pretty alone just won't cut it for me.  Nothing against Go Ara, but I just don't think that her acting is up to par with PHS.  I want him acting with more experienced actors so that he can grow and so that the project will do well.  He gets to shine when he's working with less talented actors, but I really want him to have a hit project instead of just being the actor that survived a bad project.  He's doing well with his acting and he's popular, but I feel a small sense of the ZE:A curse--he's good and popular, but he hasn't quite exploded the way that others have, say for instance Kim Soo Hyun or Lee Minho or  Seo In Guk or even Park Bo Gum.  PHS is near the top, but he's not quite reigning in the top spot.  And I think part of it is because he hasn't been in a runaway hit project yet.  And I'm not trying to downplay his popularity or anything because I know that he's popular and he can't just go anywhere anymore without being stalked and recognized.  But I really want him to hit that top spot because it's true that he and ZE:A suffered so much and were desperate and kept trying and trying.

Anyway, that's why I don't want him in another project with Go Ara.  Her acting in Hwarang was really flat and one-dimensional.  I applaud her for being willing let go of her pretty as she did in her Reply drama, because if there is one thing I hate, it's pretty "actresses" who are "actresses" only because of their pretty and will never improve to become a real actress because they can't let go of their pretty.  I'm talking to you, Han GaIn!  So, I commend Go Ara for trying, but I don't think it's any big secret that SM talents can't act.  I heard she switched agencies so I wish her all the best and luck with her career.  But until she improves, I don't want her in another project with PHS.

I read that Jo Insung will be leading in a new sageuk movie.  I'm kinda thinking that may be a good project for PHS.  It's a movie, so that means a step up in his career.  Jo Insung is a good actor so PHS will be able to learn and also build his career network.  It's a sageuk and PHS is so pretty in sageuks.  It's also a wartime movie so it'll be an action drama, which PHS was looking for.  And with Jo Insung, it will probably do well at the box office, and if Jo Insung signed on for it, it must be a pretty decent script.  But honestly, I'll be happy to see whatever PHS' new project will be.

It's from 능력자들.  I guess it would translate to something like, "talented people" or "capable people" something like that.  He goes on and shows how he eats capsaicin.  Kim Gura is one of the MC, and his older brother from WHTMF (Yoon Park) also guests on it.  The clips that I saw weren't that interesting or anything.

I've mentioned this person's blog before, http://blog.naver.com/smilesam52 because it has a lot of gems in it.  Everything is in Korean, but you can pick up lots of little things just from viewing it.  It's organized in categories, so immediately under the link that says "pure elf PHS" are the following category links: Actor PHS, musical PHS, singer PHS, variety PHS, talk PHS, model PHS.  Then under those are: chemistry PHS, elf PHS, don't know what this one is, and mental PHS.  After that is: art PHS, interview PHS, and then I don't know the last one.

Had to share this super cute vid of PHS giving fan service during or while waiting for filming for a variety program.  It's embedded in this blog so I can't just post the clip itself, but it's worth checking out because it looks like he's sitting at the table talking to someone, and then he turns around and gives his little aegyo to his fans.  There's another clip with audio on this same blog and you can hear the person taking the video fangirling over him.

I watched SWDBS for PHS as well.  He caught my eye in Hwarang because he was so pretty and because of his voice.  I love his voice and it's such a contrast to his pretty image.  Anyway, he literally caught my eye.  I wasn't watching Hwarang, but my dad was and I happened to catch like a 3-minute scene and he caught my eye.  If I were to really analyze it, I think it may have been his voice that really caught my attention because pretty flower boys in sageuks seems to be the norm so I doubt that the prettiness alone would have pulled me in.  After all, although both of my parents (especially my mom) was madly watching Moonlight Drawn by Clouds, I really had no interest in watching it.

Anyway, so I started watching Hwarang, got caught in it despite the mess it became, and greatly anticipated SWDBS for PHS.  And while watching SWDBS, I liked it but I honestly find myself going back and rewatching Hwarang or WHTMF or even High Society rather than SWDBS.  It's almost as though I've become a bit averse to it.  Part of my aversion has to do with the fact that taking a break from it and looking back at it, I'm able to admit that I got caught up in the hype of what was a mediocre drama.  It could have been sooooo much more and yet it wasn't.  I also found the ending to be unsatisfying.  Even the character of Ahn MinHyuk was a little too much for me.  And, in terms of acting, I can't say that it was PHS' best work.  Why?  Because even though his character was the most developed, it didn't really allow for much range of acting.  It was almost like PHS was just being himself.  And then, for some reason, I got really turned off of PBY.  I'm pretty sure that started with the whole Bali trip and then the endless shipping going on in the SWDBS thread, and all the post interviews that focused on the ship and nothing else.  On the one hand, the drama was so superficial that there probably wasn't much else for the interviewers to ask. On the other hand, the drama should have been more and everyone else has already asked that question so find something else to ask.

PBY is, I think, someone who is probably very talented, but got stuck (twice) with bad agencies.  Something just isn't right with her image control and projection and I'm guessing that her agency just doesn't handle things very well.  On the other hand, there are things that she says in interviews (that are of course, skewed or probably lost in translation) and something about her behavior in the bts and post-interviews that just doesn't quite ring true to me.

Anyway, the reason I think that Hwarang and High Society are perhaps some of PHS' best works is that it allowed him to shine despite the fact that the dramas didn't do very well.  WHTMF probably allowed him to really grow as an actor and he had so many talented seniors that I think it really helped him grow.  And then I think that in Hwarang and High Society he showed off his growth.  Hwarang was so risky because other than Park Seo Joon, who else of the younger cast really has any acting chops?  Most were either new or had a reputation of not acting well.  Also, I think that when you put so many pretty boys in one drama, you're asking for criticism.  Despite this, so many people are here in this thread today because of Hwarang.  It's like what the female MC on Taxi said, " the drama may fail, but the actor/actress can survive."  High Society was another one where PHS stepped out of his known character and he shined, even taking the spotlight away from the main leads.  SWDBS was too much aegyo for me.  It was cute, but a little too much.  I liked how in High Society, his character would just throw in the aegyo at times.

  19. @willowmyst Thanks!  You're so sweet!

About Kwanghee, I think he gets a bad rap, and I'm beginning to think it's part of his variety persona. He is loud and all, but the reality is that he worked really hard first to become an idol, then to be popular, and then to promote ZEA.  Hyungsik once mentioned that Kwanghee always tried to bring a member along to variety shows when Kwanghee was popular. It may seem natural, but it really isn't. Kpop is so competitive and idols know that they can't be idols forever so they have to think about what they'll do afterwards.

i think some people have Kwanghee a hard time for "outing" hyungsik' family background, but he did it to get hyungsik some publicity. And it's a sad commentary on kpop and Korean society that it worked. If you watch Kwanghee's radio and variety appearances, you'll notice that despite his comments about being jealous, he does always bring up his fellow members. It's almost as though Star Empire would pick a member to promote and then asked Kwanghee to do so as well. Some of the other members, including PHS, also mentioned how Kwanghee is always the first to congratulate his fellow members when they get a new project.

ohh okay LOL i think that one is also old clip, coz of the longer hair..like in HS

i am still compiling Real Men clips -_- just read that he was in eps 9-44. and i don't really understand how Real Men works. does it means that he was staying at the camp for the whole shooting date? i'm still new to this hehe..

Real Men does essentially 1-week shoots once per month.  I think it's 5 nights and 6 days, and yes they stay there during that whole time.  He's in episodes 9-58, 63-70.  He missed one base (episodes 59-62) because of his back injury.  There is actually 1 very brief little PHS clip at the end of 62 where they show him in his closet packing for the Philippines ARAW base to help with rebuilding after Yolanda.  However, it really isn't worth downloading that episode just for that little clip.

Episode 70 was his last official episode.  However, he appears in episodes 86-87, which is the farewell episode for Kim Suro, Suh Kyungsuk, and Sam Hammington.  One of them wanted the fellow junwoos (military comrades) that they had met to show up so the Real Men staff invited a bunch of them.  PHS was the only one of the Real Men regulars that showed up.  It's actually pretty funny because they have a ssireum competition and Kim HyungGeun (one of the real military conscripts who gained some popularity as the chick soldier--as in baby chick, not a hot chick--challenges PHS to ssireum.  When asked why he chose PHS, his response was that one of his girlfriends had liked PHS.

Real Men is great.  It's unfortunate though that it's hard to find and most are raw without any translations.  It's what made PHS so popular and he even admits it.  He also admits that he got so much love and recognition during Real Men that his popularity may have actually waned after he stopped doing it.  PHS gained a lot of popularity because he was so real and earnest in it, and there are moments when you get so embarrassed for him.  He even admitted on a radio show that when he watched himself on Real Men there were times when his own face would turn bright red because he himself was embarrassed at how he appeared.

wow this instragram is daebak!!! the 3rd recent clip that he show wet hair after removing his hoodie is from which scene? sexy...

It's from one of the Real Men episodes where they were part of the Navy. There were several episodes that covered the Navy stint so I can't tell you which one, although guessing from the comment that he got wet in the rain, i would guess that it's one of the earlier ones during the land base training and not from when they were on the ship
