  1. Thanks everyone for the updates about the lawsuit.

I'm proud that Song Hye Kyo decided to do what is right. I'm with her.

The clip below is Song Hye Kyo's behind the scenes of "Full House", just to have a change of the atmosphere here and bring her smiles to everyone. Look how happy and comfortable she was when she filmed "Full House". She really did have a lot of fun right? As she once said, her character in "DOTS" is really a mature version of her character in "Full House".

@utkim I saw that you deleted the news about the settlement of the dispute. So is it not true? I really like your avatar. By the way, are you Vietnamese? I can just guess from your nickname Kim  I'm also from Vietnam. Glad to meet you here.

Thanks for this clip...just watching the BTS of TWTWB and comparing the BTS of DOTS , SHK is quite reserved here.

even the kiss scenes seem to be lacking intensity....compare to DOTS , SHK seems so carefree and relaxed...plus the chemistry with SJK is definitely more intense...and the kiss scenes are so natural.

Thank you @mulder9999, but I don't want to get into the comparison game. If you have not watched it, I think you should watch the whole series of TWTWB to appreciate SHK and JIS's acting and their chemistry, that's the point I was trying to say.

Song Hye Kyo Shares Photos From “Descendants of the Sun” Set and Earns Praise from Director Lee Eung Bok

“Descendants of the Sun” has just finished airing, but fans of the show cannot wait to more of actor Song Joong Ki and actress Song Hye Kyo. Just recently, Song Hye Kyo shared some behind the scenes pictures of the series, and director Lee Eung Bok shared what his most memorable scene of the series was.

The first photo shows her smiling at a camera on a sandy beach. The second photo shows the actress and her co-star, Song Joong Ki, getting instructions from director Lee Eung Bok right before filming a scene. In the photo, the two leads of the series look very happy about what their director is telling them to do.

It also seems that Lee Eung Bok is very happy about the series, and according to a report on Insight, he cannot stop praising Song Hye Kyo’s acting abilities.

The director, during the “Descendants of the Sun” Special which aired on April 22, 2016, stated that Song Hye Kyo did a wonderful job, especially in the scene when her character, Doctor Kang Mo Yeon, discovered that Song Joong Ki’s character, Captain Yoo Si-Jin died.

According to Lee Eung Bok, the way that she sobbed during the scene was gut wrenching, as if the tears overflowing in her eyes came from the depths of her  soul.

That scene, according to the report, is also Lee Eung Bok’s “most memorable” scene from the drama.

The series has been lauded as one of the most popular and highly rated dramas for this year. It ended its run on April 14, 2016.

Totally agree with Director Lee Eung Bok. The most memorable scenes to me are also episodes 15. Song Hye Kyo's acting is so so good. Daebak!

    "A Reason to Live"

I have just rewatched "A Reason to Live"/"Today" (directed by Lee Jeong Hyang) (for the third time) and found myself again touched and impressed by her deep but balanced, real but nuanced acting. Below are a review by Beyond Hollywood on the movie and an interview that Song Hye Kyo conducted on Asiae five years ago after she finished filming the movie. These articles are old, but remain relevant and interesting. I thought that I could share some excerpts with new members who haven't read them yet :).

Thank you @twtwb for the review and interview you posted. I was aware of that movie but I haven't watched it yet because the genre of the film is not suitable for me. But now after reading the reivew and interview you posted, I kinda regret the decision not to watch it. I should have trusted her choice and support her by watching it. Reading the interview and your review makes me want to watch it now. Hopefully it is still available on the internet :sweatingbullets:

I can't get over the DOTS syndrome yet. I think I have to watch TWTWB again, hopefully TWTWB will get me out of the DOTS syndrome, but what if it gets me in the TWTWB syndrome again?

SHK unnie ah? What can I do now? I miss you so much.script>

I'm with you.  I am rewatching TWTWB. I suddenly wish that she would appear as a guest star in writer Noh Hee Kyung's upcoming drama "Dear My Friends".

@ewff sorry for my late and something from my learning. (may not be 100% accurate)

There is the Korean(Hangul) Romanization Table. Her name can be spelled in either way: Song Hye Kyo or Song Hye Gyo. As for the person's name, how to spell the name out solely depends on the person's preference, more to say, you don't even have to strictly follow the standard table. I think she prefers to use "Song Hye Kyo" guessing from her autograph and her homepage:   http://www.songhyekyo.co.kr/

Regarding "- (hyphenation)" I think it is more for convenient purpose. Korean names usually consist of 3 letters; 1 for surname and 2 for given name, but for people who are not familiar with this, it's hard to know which is which. One part stand alone would be their surname and another part combined with "-" would be their given name. The usage of this depends on the news outlets maybe based on their standards, policy or something.

The meaning of her name... I don't know for sure. Once, she wrote her name in Chinese character as in the following pic: 宋慧敎(教). [As you may know, her name is 宋慧乔 in China, 宋慧喬 in Taiwan. I've heard a story before that there were some kinds of misunderstands or confusions about her name when introducing her there for the first time but I'm not sure about this, either. Maybe someone here knows well.]

Her given name "慧敎" as a whole gives me some senses of nobleness and faith. [慧=wisdom, enlightenment,  敎=teachings, doctrine] Hopefully Chinese experts here can give you some more details and better understandings. I think this name is quite unique one in SK and really describe what kind of person she is. "Names and natures do often agree."

    One interesting saying? cliche? I sometimes see on SNS postings in Korean is like;

"What is your religion?" ---  "I believe Song Hye Kyo" or "My religion is Hye Kyo."

as in 송혜교 is the letter when they express various kinds of religions in Korean such as 기독=Christianity, 불=Buddhism, etc. So people are referring as 송혜교 is a kind of religions

    Hope it helps!

Thank you very much for the explanation. It is now very clear and meaningful to me. Thanks again.

I am watching DOTS again and even though I have watched it for so many times, I can still feel and be touched by her acting. I do really think that she went beyond what the director and scriptwriters expected from her.

  7. Thank you very much @smiletall. That is very interesting. Thank you very much for going at length to provide me with such an interesting answer. Yes I have checked at "Song Hye Kyo" is the most popular internationally. But then sometimes I see "Song Hye-Gyo" on dramabeans and sometimes "Song Hye-Kyo" in korean newspapers (both with the dash) so I was a little bit curious because to me, when we use dash between two names, like Hye-Kyo or Hye-Gyo, the two names become one.

    Again thanks very much.

  8. @smiletall thanks for your translation. May I ask you or @MasY one question about her name in English?

Most of the time I see people write her name as "Song Hye Kyo". But many Korean newspapers when they translated her names into English they wrote "Song Hye-kyo". And blogs like dramabeans use "Song Hye-gyo". So may I know what is the most correct one to address her in English? And does her name have any meaning? And what is the most formal way to address her? "Ms Song"?

I realize that I am her fans but I even have questions about her name. Sorry for asking you such basic questions but you know Korean, so I think you are the best persons to ask.

    Thanks in advance.

Meanwhile, a simple question: Which do you prefer to hear? 'You look better in person' or 'You look better on TV' brought back a completely unexpected answer. "They are both flattering comments but if you think about it in another way they can be offensive. Saying I look better in person means I don't look as good on TV and saying I look better on TV means I don't look as good in person. As a woman I think I prefer hearing that I am just good looking (laughs)".

A reporter asked about her tips on maintaining her Hallyu starism in China ever since "Full House". She pointed out what was wrong and gave her answer.  "Actually, it started since "Autumn in my Heart" and not "Full House". Did I just show off? (laughs)".

Just about when the press conference was over, she answered a question that no one asked. She'd thought about the questions and answers in her head and that was about the actors Yoo Ah-in and Lee Gwang-soo who made cameo appearances in "Descendants of the Sun".

"I thought this question would come out. Yoo Ah-in was in the drama. He's in the same company as I am and I adore him like a brother. It was short and he was busy with "Six Flying Dragons", but he made the time. I am grateful for him and Lee Gwang-soo too. Thanks to them, our drama was a success".

Song Hye-kyo said she earned 'people' through "Descendants of the Sun" and expressed her gratitude to those who had part in the drama from big to small but she forgot Kim Min-seok and hurriedly added him. "I earned good people through this drama. I have made many friends. Seung-joon, Jeong-yeon, Oh Yoo, the Alpha Team, Jin Goo, Kim Ji-won-I and so many more. I was able to overcome difficult times thanks to them. I thank "Descendants of the Sun" for making this possible. Oh and Min-seok too. (laughs)".

She really has a cute side of hers. How can she possess such a great combination of appearance, spirit, characteristics and talent?
