National Forensic Service Releases Results Of Investigation Of Kim Joo Hyuk’s Vehicle

    Kim-Joo-Hyuk-1.jpg

The National Forensic Service has announced the results of their analysis of Kim Joo Hyuk’s vehicle.

Kim Joo Hyuk passed away following a car accident last October, with the cause of the accident yet to be determined. On January 30, the National Forensic Service stated that the vehicle he had been driving was not defective.

The Gangnam Police Station shared that they had received a report from the National Forensic Service on January 30 that stated, “The result of the investigation of Kim Joo Hyuk’s vehicle is there is no evidence of vehicle defects such as rapid acceleration or mechanical malfunctions. It has been concluded that the video of the accident taken by the black box found in Kim Joo Hyuk’s car did not record any audio data [of the inside of the car].”

The National Forensic Service also stated, “There was no evidence of the cause being an ineffectiveness of the brakes.”

They explained that as the car has been severely damaged, they were not able to carry out a normal driving test. The investigation results were determined by checking sense data after connecting or replacing damaged parts, starting the engine, and accelerating.

The National Forensic Service previously stated in November that an autopsy showed that the cause of death was cranial fracture. They explained, “We didn’t find any signs of myocardial infarction [heart attack], and our toxicology test only showed a small amount of antihistamine. No traces of alcohol or toxins were detected, and our heart examinations didn’t show any signs of coronary artery damage, abnormal blood vessels, or inflammation.”

It has been reported that the police are planning to request additional medical judgement in regards to the cause of Kim Joo Hyuk’s death, taking into consideration the result of the autopsy and the investigation of his vehicle.

As far as I understand, there is no reason for him to die. Its not heart, not vehicle, not drugs, not alcohol, so why? I honestly don't get how did that accident happened..

KBS Labor Union Says It Will Take Time To Fully Return To Normal Broadcasting

    KBS1.jpg

Now that the strike has ended, KBS’s national media labor union headquarters stated that their variety and drama producers have returned to work.

See Also: KBS President Is Removed From His Position After 141 Days Of Strikes

Earlier this month near the end of the strike, variety shows such as “Hello Counselor,” “Happy Together 3,” “2 Days 1 Night,” “The Return of Superman,” and more returned to filming, but other members of the labor union continued to strike.

A representative from the labor union stated, “Although some variety shows and dramas returned [during that time], there were other union members who continued the struggle, so we hadn’t completely returned to normal broadcasting. But now that the strike has officially ended, we will finally return to normal broadcasting.”

The representative, however, added that it would be difficult to completely return to normal broadcasting. They commented, “As of now, only the strike has ended. By returning to work, we will have to assess everything as a whole. Although the variety department returned first, they had originally planned to prepare special broadcasts after the end of strike. In order to return to where we were before the strike, we’re going to need time.”

Last September, KBS went on strike to remove the broadcasting system’s president Ko Dae Young for arming journalistic impartiality and disrespecting the opinions of employees. After 141 days, on January 22, the president was dismissed from his position. Employees plan to resume working on January 24.

  3. KBS President Is Removed From His Position After 141 Days Of Strikes

141 days since the KBS strike began on September 4, the motion to dismiss KBS president Ko Dae Young has been approved by the broadcasting company’s board of directors.

The motion was initially filed on January 8 against Ko Dae Young on charges including the harming of journalistic impartiality and failing to respect the opinions of employees.  The details were presented to the 10 out of 11 board members who attended the closed-door meeting on January 22, and the motion was passed with a vote of six for and one abstaining.

The final dismissal of president Ko Dae Young will be decided by the President of South Korea, who holds the power to appoint or dismiss the KBS president.

Following the announcement, the KBS headquarters of the National Union of Mediaworkers released an official statement that read, “We’ve won. We held on for 141 days of strikes, and Ko Dae Young is finally out. Though our fight took 70 days longer than that of our MBC counterparts, who began their strike on the same day as us, what’s important is that we were able to make this happen with our own efforts. KBS now stands at the starting line of a new beginning.”

They went on to say, “We have only just removed the biggest hurdle that stood in the way of KBS becoming a true broadcasting company of the people. Our goal isn’t just to make KBS what it was 10 years ago, our goal is to end the broadcasting company’s shameful history of servitude and submission to power. We will create a KBS that touches the lives of our citizens and reflects their opinions and ideas.”

With the motion to dismiss the KBS president passing, the employees who participated in the strike are said to be planning to return to their jobs as soon as January 24.

  4. “2 Days & 1 Night” Cast And CNBLUE’s Jung Yong Hwa Experience The Hallyu Effect Firsthand in Cuba

    2-days-1-night.png

On the January 14 episode of “2 Days & 1 Night,” the cast spent time abroad in Cuba and Kazakhstan.

CNBLUE’s Jung Yong Hwa joined Kim Jun Ho, Defconn, and Yoon Shi Yoon in Cuba as the “morning angel” on the show. Since the members were still adjusting to the time difference, Jung Yong Hwa sprayed them with water and prepared them breakfast himself (with some tricks hidden in the food as per “2 Days & 1 Night” tradition, of course).

The cast and Jung Yong Hwa then went to a meeting hall dedicated to those of Korean descent living in Cuba and met with Hallyu fans in person. The fans surprised them with their deep knowledge of Korean dramas, music, and even the Korean language. The cheers were loudest in particular for Defconn and Yoon Shi Yoon, and one lucky CNBLUE fan got to sing and play guitar with Jung Yong Hwa.

In fact, when Jung Yong Hwa first appeared, the fans’ excitement went through the roof, some of them almost bursting into tears. Jung Yong Hwa sang the OST from his drama “Heartstrings” and the fans all sang along to the Korean lyrics.

    jung-yong-hwa-2-days-1-night-540x590.png

When Yoon Shi Yoon, Jung Yong Hwa, and Kim Jun Ho had to pick three fans to do a Korean culture quiz with them, Jung Yong Hwa’s fan Camilla was able to identify icons like Sejong the Great, Sin Saimdang, and General Yi Sun-sin, surprising everyone with the depth of her knowledge about Korea.

The members in Kazakhstan also met with a few fans when they shared a meal with native Kazakhstan people of Korean descent. One middle-aged woman recognized Kim Jong Min and said she was his fan (Kim Jong Min wasn’t allowed to change or wash his hairstyle until he met a fan).

  5. “2 Days & 1 Night” To Resume Filming This Month

    2-Days-1-Night1.jpg

After a prolonged hiatus, “2 Days & 1 Night” has finally set a date for the filming of its first new episode of the year!

See Also: "2 Days & 1 Night" Enjoys Surge In Ratings As Cast Heads Overseas To Celebrate 10th Anniversary

On January 12, sources from the KBS variety show confirmed, “‘2 Days & 1 Night’ will resume filming on January 19. It will be the first recording since the strike, and all of the members will be participating.”

“2 Days & 1 Night” has been on hiatus since autumn 2017 due to the KBS labor union strike. Although the show aired a special episode in November dedicated to the memory of the late Kim Joo Hyuk, the farewell messages recorded by the cast members were not considered official filming. The 10th anniversary special that is currently being broadcast was also filmed before the strike commenced.

However, the KBS labor union announced on December 29 that the production staff of certain variety shows would be temporarily halting their participation in the strike, including “2 Days & 1 Night,” “Happy Together,” and “The Return of Superman.” Accordingly, “2 Days & 1 Night” is now preparing to film its first new episode in several months.

  6. It is just too much annoying that YY has a "scandal " but her old boss still working unaffected. Like dude has a wife he (assumingly ) cheated her woth his assistant and noone sideeyes him? Cheating is not a one person job people, if she was sidelined so should he.. I am so angry that everytime something happens in her life, that unfair situation will be brought up. So sad and actually it is so on par with todays society too.

    Fight girl! Fight everyone!

The latest episode of “2 Days & 1 Night” has been a great success!

See Also: "Master In The House" Beats Out Longtime Sunday Variety Shows In Viewership Ratings

According to statistics released by Nielsen Korea, the episode of KBS 2TV’s “2 Days & 1 Night” that aired on January 7 scored nationwide average viewership ratings of 18.7 percent. This is 7.6 percent higher than the previous episode that aired on December 31.

“2 Days & 1 Night” had been off the air from October 22, 2017 due to the strike going on in KBS. The show finally returned on December 31 and recorded ratings of 11.1 percent, which was lower than the average ratings of 14 to 15 percent that the show had been enjoying before the strike. However, the show enjoyed a big leap in ratings in a single episode, with the latest episode doing better than the average and dispelling concerns that the show would suffer from its hiatus.

The recent episode followed the cast as they headed overseas to celebrate their 10th anniversary. The cast split into two teams and traveled to Cuba and Kazakhstan.

According to Nielsen Korea, the second half of the premiere of “Master in the House” scored an average viewership rating of 11.1 percent in the metropolitan area. The highest viewership rating recorded in the same area was 14.0 percent. The average viewership ratings for the entire nation were 6.5 percent for the first half of the episode and 10.4 percent for the second half.

Not only did the show surpass 10 percent in viewership ratings on its premiere, but it took the No. 1 spot in its time slot, beating out KBS’s “Happy Sunday” programming (8.7 percent in the metropolitan area, 8.6 percent nationwide) and MBC’s “Wizard of Nowhere” (5.6 percent in the metropolitan area, 5.3 percent nationwide).

The show also beat out other longtime Sunday variety shows that did not air in the same time slot, such as MBC’s “King of Masked Singer” (10.6 percent in the metropolitan area, 10.4 percent nationwide) and SBS’s “Running Man” (7.0 percent in the metropolitan area, 6.8 percent nationwide), making it the highest rated show of the day.

Notably, “2 Days & 1 Night” returned this week as part of KBS’s “Happy Sunday” program, but Lee Seung Gi’s new show beat out his old by almost 2 percent.

The show was also popular among the coveted age group of 20-49 (important for advertising), scoring 6.0 percent in that group. This put it in first place among that age group for all the publicly broadcasted, cable, etc. variety shows that aired on December 31.

In addition, the show’s name and all the cast members took No. 1 on the realtime search rankings during the episode. “Master in the House” stars Lee Seung Gi on his return from the military, BTOB’s Yook Sungjae, Lee Sang Yoon, and Yang Se Hyung.

The highest viewership rating (14.0 percent) was recorded at the moment that the identity of the “master” of the house the cast were staying in was revealed.

“Master in the House” airs every Sunday at 6:25 p.m. KST.

  11. KBS To Partially Halt General Strike + New Episode Of “2 Days & 1 Night” To Air This Weekend

    2-Days-1-Night-1.jpg

Some of the members of the KBS labor union who are currently on strike will be returning to work in 2018. To go along with this decision, a new episode of “2 Days  & 1 Night” is set to air on December 31.

The labor union released an official statement on December 29 that read, “We have made the decision for producing directors (PDs) working in the variety and drama departments to temporarily halt their participation in the strike from January 1. They will be returning to their respective programs and making preparations to return to a regular filming schedule to make the transition smoother once the strike is officially over.” They continued to add, “This decision was made to protect the rights and interests of our viewers, as well as to begin building a new future for KBS. Because of our fight, the power of board members who have prolonged president Ko Dae Young’s influence in KBS has greatly diminished and Ko Dae Young’s termination from his position is nearing. Therefore, we believe we are now at a point where we must begin slowly preparing to return to a regular filming schedule for our programs.”

According to the labor union, the first program to return will be “2 Days & 1 Night,” which will return with a 10th anniversary episode on December 31. The KBS staff is also working hard to ensure a successful broadcast of the upcoming Pyeonchang Winter Olympics.

However, the labor union stated that though they will be putting a partial halt on their strike, this does not mean that they are decreasing the pressure they’re putting on the KBS president. They stated, “If president Ko Dae Young is not terminated from his position by the fourth week of January, the variety and drama staff will stop their work and return to the strike. Our general strike will not end until Ko Dae Young is removed from his position.”

    Kim-Joo-Hyuk-Jung-Joon-Young.jpg

Jung Joon Young has written about former “2 Days & 1 Night” co-star and close friend Kim Joo Hyuk on his personal Instagram account.

The pair have been close since starring on the variety show together. Unfortunately, Jung Joon Young was unable to find out about Kim Joo Hyuk’s passing in time to attend his wake and funeral.

He wrote, “Our hyung, I greeted him yesterday early in the morning. Please rest in peace Joo Hyuk hyung whom I love. I still can’t believe it, but I will try to live thinking of you as always smiling and watching over us. Thank you and I love you so much. There is so much that I want to say but I will tell you when I go visit you in person again. I miss you hyung.”

Meanwhile, “2 Days & 1 Night” recently aired a special “in memoriam” episode in honor of Kim Joo Hyuk. The cast members recorded final goodbye messages to their beloved member.

  13. “2 Days & 1 Night” Members Record Final Goodbye Messages For Kim Joo Hyuk At The End Of Special “In Memoriam” Episode

    2-days-1-night1.jpg

On November 5, KBS’s “2 Days & 1 Night” aired a special “in memoriam” episode in honor of former member Kim Joo Hyuk.

The “in memoriam” episode, announced only the same morning, featured highlights of his time on the variety show, including his first meeting with the cast, his earning of the nickname Gutaengie-Hyung, the appearance of his close friends like his agency head and actress Moon Geun Young, the time the show revisited photographs of his parents, and finally his last episode as a regular cast member.

At the end of the episode, the “2 Days & 1 Night” members recorded their final farewells to their former castmate, including Jung Joon Young, who was not able to attend the funeral after the news of his passing was delayed by communication issues on “Law of the Jungle.”

In Jung Joon Young’s message, he said, “Hyung was always a cool hyung to us and more beloved than anyone. When I was on hiatus from ‘2 Days & 1 Night,’ I contacted all the hyungs as soon as I arrived back in Korea, but Joo Hyuk hyung thought I might have been having a hard time so he came to see me in person. You came to see me when I was having a hard time, but I’m so sorry that I was not able to do the same for you. I want to go to your side now as fast as possible.”

Also shedding tears, Kim Jun Ho said, “We will never forget you. Our Gutaengie-hyung, I hope you can rest in peace in a good place now.”

Cha Tae Hyun filmed his video message in front of the Myeongdong Cathedral, saying, “I came here because I wanted to show you this place. In our last filming together, we visited places where we made good memories with you. You mentioned this place, thinking one of us might have come here. This is where you took your composite photograph with your parents [earlier on the show]. I really wanted to show you this place. Of course, you can probably see it better from where you are now, but even still I wanted to show it to you.”

At the end of the video messages, the production staff revealed a video that Kim Joo Hyuk had sent them two weeks ago to commemorate the show’s 10th anniversary.

In the video, Kim Joo Hyuk said, “Congratulations on your 10th anniversary. It’s really impressive for a show to go on for 10 years. I think this is all due to the viewers. I hope that the members can work even harder from now on so that a program like ‘2 Days & 1 Night’ doesn’t have to end. I say this every time, but I really miss the show, and I am always cheering the members on.”

The beloved actor passed away in a car accident on October 30 at the age of 45. He was a cast member of “2 Days & 1 Night” from the beginning of Season 3 until December 2015.
