"The Moon that Embraces the Sun's" Im Si Wan Confesses his Love for Insoles

Recommended Posts

On yesterday’s episode of SBS’sStrong Heart,” ZE:A’s Im Si Wan confessed to wearing insoles while recording popular drama MBC’s “The Moon that Embraces the Sun.”

Si Wan revealed, “The child actors I worked with [on “The Moon that Embraces the Sun”] were all taller than me. They’re young, and they’re still growing. Whereas, I’m 25-years-old, and I didn’t want to appear shorter than my younger co-stars. As a result, I wore insoles.”

Because the drama is a saeguk (historical piece), Im Si Wan was able to get away with wearing high top shoes, thus able to sneak-in his insoles. However, he revealed that he faced one huge obstacle during an indoor scene where the camera was supposed to get a close up of his feet.

Im Si Wan stated, “I did a lot of research online prior to the scene. I ended up putting the insoles inside my beosun (traditional Korean socks). I was nervous as to whether the director would ok to it, but he did.” He continued, “I felt more secure and happy about my clever cover-up, thinking I fooled everyone; but then one of the female screenwriters called me out and told me to get rid of them.”

Humorously, Im Si Wan added, “For male idols, insoles are a necessity. You have to accept it.” His co-star Lee Min Ho, who played Jung Il Woo’s Prince Yang Myung’s younger counterpart, replied, “When Si Wan hyung took off his shoes, he shrunk,” causing the studio to burst into laughter.

Meanwhile, "The Moon that Embraces the Sun" will air its ninth episode tonight, February 1, on MBC at 9:55PM KST. Check out the preview with subs here!
