Actor Kang Ha-neul completes basic military training

 

 

Korean actor Kang Ha-neul has successfully completed his six-week basic military training at the Korean Army Training Center in Nonsan, South Chungcheong Province on October 24th. He enlisted on September 11th.

 

During the completion ceremony held in the morning of October 24th at the training center's indoor gymnasium, the actor who was designated as "platoon leader", led his fellow recruits as they marched in formation to the center of the gymnasium.

 

These brave young men underwent the gruelling and comprehensive training programme that included the 40km march (while carrying 23 kilos of gear), chemical, biological and radiological training, field training exercises, weapon drills and combat training, and other physically and mentally exhausting activities that transformed them from civilians to elite soldiers. These challenges were rewarded as they were promoted to the rank "private" during the ceremony. The soldiers will be deployed to their respective bases to complete the rest of their compulsory military conscription in the coming days.

 

 

Meanwhile, Kang Ha-neul will begin his 21 months of active duty service as military police at the Capital Defense Command. He will be part of the motorcycle (MC) unit, which is widely regarded as the face of the military police. The MC unit provides escort and security services for high ranking military personnel, VIPs, and dignitaries. The actor is foreseen to complete military service on June 10th, 2019.

 

Prior to enlistment, Kang Ha-neul concluded promotional activities, including fan meetings in Hong Kong and Singapore for hit action comedy film "Midnight Runners". He also completed filming "Recall the Night", a mystery-thriller movie written and directed by acclaimed director Jang Hang-jun. The movie is due for release at the end of November 2017.

Hi Go Seung Ji, thanks for sharing the picture & about the movie. The movie looks intriguing. This looks like one intense ride. Kang Ha-neul has been showing better performance in each of his project. And I really feel that it's gonna be a long 2 years without KHN promoting his project for the first time. I’m curious to know if his character here is a psycho or not because the video & stills look sick!  It scares me a bit since Kim Haneul's stare alone is enough to give me chills. Love the poster.

Twitter Korea has announced the most used keywords by Koreans for 2017!

 

The society category was topped by the impeachment of Park Geun Hye and the election of new president Moon Jae In.

 

The leading music keywords were BTS, Wanna One, EXO, and GOT7, with various other boy groups following. Red Velvet and TWICE were the only girl group keywords in the top 10.

 

MAMA and “Produce 101” came out on top for entertainment keywords. Films make up half of the list, and Kim Joo Hyuk is the only individual listed in the top 10.

There is no shortage of great narratives in the world of Korean dramas, with new shows released quick enough to give us all whiplash. It always seems that, as we’re still processing the emotional roller coasters of current dramas, five new shows come along to torture our hearts some more. Nonetheless, we could always use more, and what better fountain of dramatic treasure to inspire us than Korean movies? In the vein of “My Sassy Girl,” which started as a cinematic masterpiece in 2001 then earned itself an American remake and a sequel before delving into dramaland with a new twist, here are seven movies we think would make great dramas.

“Twenty”

 

Following the young adult lives of three male friends as they turn twenty, this movie forces its characters to reflect on their lives, their futures, their dreams, and their relationships. Do you get a safe job and make money or follow your dreams? Do you continue with your playboy lifestyle or grow up and settle down? All nicely packaged on both sides with a good dose of comedy and romance that would easily fit the drama format.

 

Perhaps some of the subject matter is a little risky for Korean TV, but the majority of the racier content (sexually explicit language and references to porn) could be toned down or replaced.

‘Forgotten’ draws 1 million viewers in 12 days

 

Mystery thriller “Forgotten,” starring Kang Ha-neul and Kim Moo-yeol as brothers, drew over 1 million cinemagoers in the 12 days since its release.

“Forgotten” revolves around the two brothers who doubt each other.

Kim Moo-yeol plays the older brother who loses his memory and becomes a completely different person after an abduction. Kang Ha-neul plays the younger brother who grows suspicious of his changed brother and subsequently begins to doubt his own memories. 
 

 

 

The film raked in over 122,000 moviegoers on Saturday, marking a cumulative attendance of 988,000. On Sunday morning, the film surpassed 1 million figure in ticket sales.

“Forgotten” released on Nov. 29.

On Saturday Korea marked the fifth consecutive year to have over 200 million people attend movie theaters, according to the Korean Film Council. Half of the figure was credited to the consumption of Korean films.

Kofic anticipates stronger rally before the year ends, as more highly anticipated Korean films such as “Steel Rain,” “Along With the Gods: The Two Worlds” and “1987: When the Day Comes” are slated to release mid-December.

On December 10, actor Moon Sung Keun posted a photo via Instagram posing with his fellow 'Forgotten' cast.

 

The stars decided to make a surprise visit to actor Kang Ha Neul's military base who is currently serving in the army.  

 

The caption read, "Kang Ha Neul is currently cheerfully and confidently serving in the army- meeting up with him prior to going on stage in Daejeon."

just watch Forgotten.  great acting since it was a pretty complicated plot. waiting for subs to confirm my thoughts on the story. Nonetheless it's good for Haneul, tried something totally different from Scarlet, Likes, MRunners, and Twenty, maybe closer to Mis-Trail or Dong Ju - a complex person who has many emotional sides to his character.  Most of his movies aren't easy to watch; however, it proves he is versatile and chooses projects that expand his acting skills. Proud of him!
