2nd season of Code Blue announced

Yamash*ta Tomohisa (24) from NEWS will reprise his role as a doctor in 'Code Blue Doctor Heli Kinkyuu Kyuumei 2nd season' that starts in January at the 9pm Monday slot next year. The first season aired on Thursdays at 10pm last summer and this time Fuji TV has moved it to the most prominent spot in its lineup. Furthermore Yamash*ta was also the lead in a Monday at 9 drama that aired this July and this is the first time in history that anyone has held the spot in the main role with one season separating the two appearances.

Yamapi's power seems unstoppable. In summer, he played a pro basketball player in 'Buzzer Beat Gakeppuchi no Hero'. Currently 'Tokyo DOGS' (lead played by Oguri Shun) is on air and soon the next season will start with Yamash*tain the lead again.

Ever since the Getsu 9 slot was established in 1987, there has never been a case of anyone in the lead role separated by a mere season, proving the strength of his popularity. The average ratings for 'Code Blue' that started airing in July 2008 was 15.9%, the highest among dramas on commercial broadcast that season. The special that aired in January earlier this year garnered 23.1% in ratings.

The other young case members, Aragaki Yui (21), Toda Erika (21), Higa Manami (23) and Asari Yousuke (22) will also return in the 2nd season.

'Doctor Heli' are doctors who fly in special helicopters to aid patients as soon as possible and also administer medical treatment while transporting them to medical institutions.

Yamash*ta commented,"I want to show the importance of these helicopters so that the number of 'Doctor Heli' will increase." Expect a powerful medical drama this New Year.

as much as i love yamapi, i didn't like the character Aizawa Kosaku that much.

i will keep this drama in mind though

Code Blue makes its return as the first getsu 9* of 2010.

Today, Code Blue 2, airing in January, held its press conference at Tokyo’s heliport. With the same helicopter used in filming as the background, the actors spoke about the highlights, and their hopes for the upcoming drama.

■ Yamash*ta Tomohisa (Aizawa Kousaku)

he fact that there could be a sequel, I think it is because the viewers had the feelings of I want to see it again”, “I want it to continue”. It is because of everyone who had these thoughts, that I have the chance to challenge this with the goal of “creating a work that doesn’t disappoint these expectations”.

The last time I appeared in Code Blue, the fact that the number of helicopters used for emergency medical transport increased made me feel that this is a drama that could be beneficial to society. Therefore, “hopefully this time as well, it will have a positive influence for medical organizations in reality”, this feeling surpasses all others.

Also, as a drama it is abundant in content, and has deeply heartfelt lines and narrations presented in a way that is easy to understand. I believe that it will be a piece of work that the audience will be able to empathize with.

Finally, the mutual understanding developed between the actors and staff from the four months we collaborated together a year and a half ago, I hope to demonstrate it through this drama.

■ Aragaki Yui (Shiraishi Megumi)

This is the first time I’m participating in a sequel. It has been a year and a half since the first piece, and one year since the special aired. We’re filming every day, both worrying about how to show everyone our growth, and enjoying the reunion with the other members. The internal turmoil and personal issues unique to doctors, this is a piece of work that will display the special characteristics of each person. I look forward to bringing everyone a Code Blue that differs from the previous. I will work hard.

■ Toda Erika (Hiyama Mihoko)

Hiyama’s sequela in season two, resulting from the surgery following her accident, how will she fight it? This kind of conflict is both tragic and beautiful. I believe that she will give everyone courage. I want to perform as the Hiyama who is always working hard, both as a doctor and as a patient. Please take care of me.**

■ Higa Manami（Saejima Haruka）

I am very happy to be able to work with the same cast and staff again after one year. Last time I said that if through this work, more people will want to become like the doctors and nurses we played, it would be great. Suddenly joining in the second season, what surprised me was that the site of the filming was at an ideal state. Those from the medical field and professionals familiar with helicopters often appeared at the site. The medical aspects at the scene of the accident sites were always rehearsed thoroughly first, the script was almost half done right from the beginning, a very well prepared site. This makes me feel that if other dramas were filmed this way too, they would produce high quality works. I was very surprised by this, and felt that I should take responsibility for my parts as well to do a good job.

yay, it aired the first epsiode. I really like the first one, hopefully this one is good as the first one. Does anyone know who is subbing it? I am waiting for subbed version.

shes wearing a turtleneck and looks like she has a scar

From the SP, she fell off the train and got seriously injured. That scar is probably from the surgery she received.

Does anyone know the cellphone Gakky is using in the first episode? hahah, it looks like a very nice phone :D. I watched the first episode w/ out subs. &I gotta say... Yamapi is looking pretty hot :) Can't wait for the second episode!

LOL I thought we didn't have a season 2 thread... so quiet in here!

Anyways, I'm so glad that there's a season 2! I found out right before the first ep aired so that totally made my day :D

I just watched ep 1 today (had to wait for the subs!) and it did not disappoint!

I heard there's gna be romance in this season? I really hope there isn't... I like it all medical...

Well I'm personally looking forward to the romance just because I know that the romance will probably be very mild-- almost hard to read type. xDD

Although the medical cases are nice and interesting, the emotional attachment to the other characters bring better character development since we didn't get much in season one.

Episode 3 seems very interesting from what I saw in the previews. :3
