Wow the girl sure is suicidal...poor IJM...that must be such a shock for him...the story keep more interesting and on the edge too..i`m not such a fans of sad ending but i still want to see it...Fighting IJM!

Because i don`t understand korean (although that don`t keep me for watching this drama unsubtitle), who is this Yang Po guy? Why he deliberately told the police where IJM hideout (Wol Hee house) and then help him when he`s unconcious...Then hide Wol Hee from him when he knew IJM is looking for her when she jump off the cliff? It`s so contradictive...

This just started here in the states..I just finished EP4 and I have to say I am liking this more then I thought I would. I am big fan of the Jun Ki Iljimae..But Jung Il Woo has brought his own to this version. I at first compared the 2 but not anymore...This is so different form the other..I hope it gets even better.

eclipse: The role of Yang Po has not been fully explained yet. I can guess () that we will learn more in future episodes!

Also in ep16 i`m amazed for the actor who played Wang Hwaeng Bao even though his old age but he can split!! Salute...(even i can`t do it..)

I can`t wait for next eps!!

I only had a chance to watch a few minutes, but ROFL at Wang Hweng Bo and Sung Ge!

They went to collect the 500 nyang debt from the man who owes the casino boss....when they returned empty handed, he told them to bring back Big Fella and Little Fella to settle the debt. They thought he meant the father and son and told the boss that the son ran away.....but Big Fella and Little Fella turned out to be the cockfighting roosters that Wang Hweng Bo and Sung Ge ate.

Looking at the caps...Iljimae gets shot?

This just started here in the states..I just finished EP4 and I have to say I am liking this more then I thought I would. I am big fan of the Jun Ki Iljimae..But Jung Il Woo has brought his own to this version. I at first compared the 2 but not anymore...This is so different form the other..I hope it gets even better.

It certainly does get better. Keep watching!

Btw, is anyone watching MBC America from MBC-D on KTSF? Something's wrong. Other digital channels are working, but Channel 26-2 isn't. There is a signal (and KTSF's logo at the bottom of the screen) but no picture, just blackness.

This will cause serious delays in the subs, if I can't access the channel.

{Edit} Oh, no! It's not showing up on the MBC America website as an available Terrestrial DTV channel in SF anymore, either. Is there anyone who has access and could upload the episodes?

That was actually in last week's "previews"...

But the fight scene in the previews new end credits (he avoids getting shot) is different from the one that aired today, so it looks like Iljimae will be facing more hunters with guns in coming episodes.

Ep. 17 - Heartbreaking/heartrending Sword

Iljimae sneaks back into Minister Kwon's house. He decides to send Jang Ho on the next trip to Qing (China), since he feels uneasy about his son having seen the severed head. He tells his servant not to speak of the secret emissary in front of Jang Ho.

While vomiting in the street, Jang Ho sees a beautiful young maiden, Soo Kyung, arriving home. Jang Ho barges into her house and demands to have her, causing a ruckus. He tells his father that he wants to marry her, but it turns out that she's already engaged to a good-looking scholar named Gi Ryung. Minister Kwon's servant offers his family money to cancel the engagement, but he refuses. As the servant is leaving, Iljimae gives him a letter, saying it's for Minister Kwon from Gi Ryung. It's a warning that he will reveal Kwon's dirty deeds if he interferes with their marriage.

Kwon tells Jang Ho to go to China and promises to prepare for his marriage to Soo Kyung.

Gu Ja Myung, Soo Ryun, and Jung Tae investigate the decapitated body.

Soo Kyung visits Gi Ryung. She's known his since she was young.

Jang Ho departs for China but causes a commotion on his way out of town.

Wang Hweng Bo and Sung Ge go to collect the debt from the man who owes the casino boss 500 nyang. Sung Ge pulls out a knife, but the man holds him off long enough to let his children escape. Wang Hweng Bo knocks the man out with one kick. The two men then feast on the chickens, and WHB curses Iljimae for his present circumstance. Back at the casino, the boss tells them to go back to the man's house tomorrow and bring back the Big Fella and Little Fella. They're great fighting roosters and should bring in enough money to cover the debt. WHB and SB are at a loss because they already ate the chickens.

Yang Po watches as Iljimae breaks into the inn (look familiar? ) where Jang Ho and his entourage are staying. He steals the valuables and secret documents. Jang Ho goes after Iljimae, but Yang Po stops him from following.

Iljimae burns the documents (something about selling Joseon to Qing, I think?). The narrator says that Yang Po doesn't stop Iljimae from burning them...why is that?

Iljimae tells Yang Po that he's going to finish off Minister Kwon. Yang Po warns that this is dangerous and IJM could end up in police custody and then dead. IJM says he doesn't care if he dies and tells Yang Po to step aside.

Gi Ryung disappears, and his parents suspect it was Minister Kwon's doing. Soo Kyung sends his daughter away to keep her safe.

Geol Chi is at a loss because he can't get Wol Hee to eat or talk. She tells him it's time to return to Hanyang. Geol Chi: without finding Iljimae? Wol Hee says there's no reason to find Iljimae now.

Iljimae overhears people discussing Gi Ryung's disappearance and Minister Kwon's involvement.

Baek Mae asks a peddler for stories from Hanyang about Iljimae. He tells her how Iljimae caught all the escaped thieves for the police.

Iljimae finds Gi Ryung's decapitated head and berates himself for not preventing his death. He had thought that his warning to Kwon would have been enough to stop him. Suddenly, he thinks of Soo Kyung and suspects that Kwon will also have her killed, so he rushes off to save her. Arriving just in time, IJM saves Soo Kyung from her would-be killer. As he stabs the assassin, IJM asks him if it hurts and tells him that's the heartbreaking pain.

IJM turns to leave, but Soo Kyung asks if he knows what happened to Gi Ryung. He tells her to return down the mountain to her home, but she asks him to take her because she's afraid of going alone. What if someone else comes after her? He gives her a slap and tells her to go. No one else will be following her.

Goo Ja Myung comes home to find Iljimae there drinking water. IJM asks about Minister Kwon. GJM warns that Kwon is a powerful noble who helped the king to the throne.

IJM tells GJM that the severed head he's looking for is at Kwon's...along with another.

Iljimae sneaks into Kwon's bedroom, pulls out his sword, and strikes.

Baek Mae feels uneasy...worrying that something has happened to Iljimae.

The police are at Minister Kwon's house and find the golden plum blossom left by Iljimae...as well as the two heads. GJM is furious that IJM could have been so foolish as to kill Minister Kwon.

Kim Ja Jeom rages over Iljimae's latest actions.

A wanted poster of Iljimae is posted in the town.

Kim Ja Jeom dreams of Iljimae killing him for selling out his country to the barbarians.

Bak Bi Su informs Kim of a hunter named Bak Su Dong who can get Iljimae for sure...with a gun.

Kim Ja Jeom relays this information to the other nobles, saying they can hire the hunter...if they pool their money together.

Geol Chi and Wol Hee return to Hanyang.

Bae Seon Dal and Cha Dol listen around for news of Iljimae and wonder about the story that he killed Minister Kwon. They spot Geol Chi and Wol Hee and tell them about the latest turn of events. GC tells BSD and CD about Wol Hee dying and coming back from the dead.

Baek Mae talks to her kitten about Iljimae.

Iljimae cries at the temple.

Since IJM doesn't know that Wol Hee's still alive, BSD figures that IJM acted out over his guilt over WH's death. GC says that IJM didn't even look for WH after she fell off the cliff.

GC is about to go see if IJM has returned to their house, but WH says that IJM won't be there. If he was going to return, he never would've left in the first place.

IJM returns to the rural house and thinks back on how happy WH was when he first brought her there. Two hunters sneak up on him, and one shoots IJM. When they check to see if he's dead, IJM plays dead and then kicks one, making him shoot the other. He demands to know who sent them, but the man hits IJM's wound and runs away.

GC and WH are stopped by two policemen. They're on the lookout for IJM and accuse WH of being IJM in disguise as a woman.

Kim Ja Jeom calls in a shaman who tells him that blood is dripping from the plum blossom.

Meanwhile, IJM tries to drag himself towards the river before more men come after him.

l am not sure if this is related but a friend of mine from Hawaii mention to me early this month that MBC channel in Hawaii will be going off the air as of March 16 2009. They have been losing money and has decide to withdraw from Hawaii.

I hadn't checked the channel since the weekend. Bummer!

DirectTV is looking mighty tempting right about now...

I am looking into other sources for the MBC America episodes, but if anyone else can help, it would greatly appreciated.
