Ep.13 - Moon River (first part)

Son Suk Joo rages at the disappearance of his wealth and Choi Se Woon. He orders his men to find him.

Choi Se Woon thanks Iljimae for saving him and daughter.

Wol Hee notices the way Kyung Ok looks longingly at IJM. While asleep, Kyung Ok calls out IJM's name repeatedly. She wakes up and apologizes to WH for imposing on her and tries to explain her calling IJM's name by saying it's such an unusual name. KO asks WH why IJM's parents gave him his name. WH says his parents didn't give him the name. KO asks who did, then. WH doesn't know. All she knows is that he doesn't have a last name, and his first is IJM. WH asks what KO and IJM did while they spent the night together. KO doesn't answer, just smiles embarrassingly, and says that WH is engaged to IJM. Doesn't she even know what happened? (i.e. Didn't IJM tell her?) WH says he'll tell her if he wants to tell her. KO asks WH why she isn't curious. If it were her, she'd want to know everything. Annoyed, WH retorts with a proverb about not being able to wake up frogs before the spring winds blow (i.e. IJM will tell her when he's ready to.) and leaves the room.

WH is surprised to see IJM in the kitchen. He thinks sleeping out there would give the elders more room to sleep comfortably. IJM asks what Miss KO is doing, and WH huffs that she's too young to be called a "Miss."

WH ponders sleeping out there, too, since it's been a while since they've been together at night. IJM tells her to go back in and sleep. WH teases that he spent the night with a girl he just met (KO), but he can't spend the night with her(WH)? IJM says he stayed outside [the cave]. WH tells him that YO didn't say that, and her face turned red when asked about it. Just what did they do? IJM heaves a sigh, and WH wants an answer. IJM tells WH about Son Suk Joo and how, because of his own greed, he tried to have his friend killed through a conspiracy plot. WH asks when he became such a pro at changing the subject. IJM wonders how far one can treasure a person. He starts to mention his meeting yesterday with Yeol Gong.....then says he'd like to hear her play the wolgeum.

WH plays the wolgeum for IJM while YO listens from inside the room and Choi Se Woon is kept awake by Geol Chi's snoring.

IJM and WH read each other's palms. The prediction: WH - 7 children, IJM - 11 children. That makes a total of 18 children for them!

They fall asleep in front of the fire. IJM dreams of Dal Yi's execution, which wakes WH. She asks what's wrong and if he had a bad dream. IJM says he's fine. WH tries to wipe the sweat off his face, and he brushes her off, leaving her bewildered.

The next morning, WH tells Choi Se Woon the coast is clear for them to leave. He thanks Geol Chi for the kindness and tells Kyung Ok to do the same. KO refuses to face them or speak, so WH asks to speak with her, recognizing that KO is reluctant to leave because of IJM. KO says she wishes to remain by IJM's side. Geol Chi is shocked at her words and says that IJM and WH are engaged to be married. KO says it's not a flaw for a man like IJM to have two women. WH gets even more annoyed. Geol Chi is please to hear that KO is a good cook. When prodded by Geol Chi, Choi Se Woon says he would be pleased to have a son-in-law like IJM. KO asks WH her opinion, but WH tells KO to ask IJM. IJM curtly tells them it's time to go.

IJM points out to way to go and tells Choi Se Woon that he will administer Son Suk Joo's punishment. IJM gives him some money to help him get started in his new life away from Hanyang, and Choi Se Woon gratefully accepts.

IJM tells YO the punishment he's going to give Son Suk Joo is to kill him, poke out his eyes, cut off his tongue, and dismember him. He says he finds as much pleasure in killing people as in helping people, so she should be on her way with her father before something worse happens.

Ep. 13 (remainder)

Wol Hee laughs that Kyung Ok must have been shocked at IJM's words. But then, WH is irked that IJM would say such a lie. She thinks he should have said, "To be honest, Wol Hee is the only one in my heart." Isn't that so?

IJM says it wasn't a lie. He did exaggerate the method of Son Suk Joo's death in order to scare KO, but he meant what he said about killing him. WH is surprised/shocked.

IJM departs, and Geolchi complains that he has to do the laundry by himself.

GJM confirms with Jung Tae that Bae Seon Dal is being watched. It's fortunate that none of the nobles who were robbed by Iljimae have reported the crimes. They must find IJM soon.

Baek Mae is on her way to Hanyang in the hopes of meeting her son, although she doesn't know if he will forgive her for giving him up as a baby.

BSD and Cha Dol are unable to leave their house because of the police watching them. The salt peddler arrives, and gives them information about Iljimae in exchange for BSD purchasing salt. The salt peddler informs them that it was IJM who rescued Choi Se Woon from Son Suk Joo's grasp.

IJM goes to see Yeol Gong and tells him of his intended punishment for Son Suk Joo. Yeol Gong is not pleased. He should help people but not harm them. IJM thinks killing SSJ is the way to save many others. Yeol Gong forbids it, nevertheless, calling IJM selfish, and he sends IJM away.

BSD predicts IJM will go back to Son Suk Joo's house tonight. He shows Cha Dol the drawing from his second encounter with IJM.

That night, IJM heads out. WH asks him if he must go. She's scared. Is there no other way? He says there isn't. WH tells him she knows why he's doing this. She thinks Yeol Gong also knows...only IJM is in the dark. IJM asks what it is. WH answers that he's doing this because of Dal Yi.

She remembers what he said to her the first time they met, when he climbed over the wall to her house. He had called her Dal Yi. After he left, she couldn't forget him or the name he called her. Worried that he would have been captured by the police, she went out to listen for news of him. She heard about Dal Yi, the girl she resembles, and how she died unjustly. She knows IJM's afraid that someone else will die the same way.

IJM sneaks into Son Suk Joo's house. The officer SSJ bribed before arrives, thinking he was summoned by SSJ. IJM appears, sparing the officer who runs away. While IJM's distracted, SSJ pulls out a spear and fights IJM. BSD and Cha Dol watch the fight. Then, another man takes over and fights IJM with the spear.

GJM is informed of IJM's appearance at SSJ's house. They go to investigate.

IJM defeats SSJ's fighter, and he goes after SSJ. IJM's about to strike SSJ with his sword, but at the last moment, he stops and sets fire to SSJ's storeroom containing his treasured valuables, instead. IJM warns SSJ that he'll be killed if abuses his power again, and IJM leaves him a golden plum blossom as compensation for his loss.

The police arrive at SSJ's and take BSD and CD back to the station for questioning.

GJM wants to know how to meet IJM, but BSD and CD are not helpful.

IJM returns home and tells WH that he didn't kill SSJ.

Every night, IJM goes out and faces danger, and WH worries that he may not return. When she hears the front door open, she wants to rush to him with joy, but she's afraid he'll worry, so she lies quietly in the dark. But tonight, the one who returned was the IJM who can't forget Dal Yi.

IJM tells WH, and GJM tells BSD and CD...IJM's life's story. A nobleman assaulted his slave, and the slave bore a child. She was thrown out and sent to be a gisaeng, and the child was abandoned in the sewer ditch. A monk and a beggar found the child. The child returned to Joseon and was abandoned a second time by his father.

He lived in the mountains alone and stole chickens to eat. Then, he met Dal Yi. She was the first one to make him smile. How can he forget her?

Cha Dol cries at hearing IJM's sad story. Jung Tae confirms BSD and CD's story that they heard news of IJM from the salt peddler.

Baek Mae hears about IJM on her way to Hanyang.

As to the caps, those scenes were really dark anyway, so it's kind of irrelevant whether they're 720p or just HQ. You can adjust the picture for brightness, saturation, contrast, etc., so the caps you make will not be so dark. Or you can fix them afterward with any basic editor. I've got my player adjusted for more saturation because I like it that way...even if it's a little over the top....

Loved the scenes between IJM and GJM, GJM and BM (with SR waiting outside), and IJM and WH at the end.

Ep.15 (SPOILERS):

Wang Hweng Bo impersonates Iljimae and demands to see the police chief....or at least, get some food.....in order to distract the police away from the police station, so Chief Ji can free his men from the Bongseoni gang. Some Haedongcheong gang members are also freed on condition that they join the Bongseoni gang.

Meanwhile, Iljimae comes to Goo Ja Myung's house looking for Baek Mae. GJM tells him that he's too late. She had come because of GJM's promise to reunite her with IJM, but then she left upon hearing that IJM was wanted by the police. GJM tells IJM to join him in eating Baek Mae's cooking. Even though she's not their, she would be happy to know he's eating her food. IJM asks if GJM will be able to catch him, and GJM says he should be underestimated. GJM tells IJM not to get caught by him, and this is their last meeting.

An officer comes to fetch GJM, saying Iljimae demands to see him. GJM immediately figures out that this was just a ploy by the impersonator to free the thieves from jail.

Iljimae visits Yeol Gong and asks him to find a house for Wol Hee and Geol Chi to live in. He plans on leaving them because they (and more specifically, Wol Hee) cannot be safe with him around.

Iljimae goes to the gisaeng establishment, pretending to be a rich, young, and womanizing noble. He demands a quiet, out-of-way room to stay in and asks for different girl each night. Baek Mae is working there, and she berates IJM for his no-good ways. IJM tells her he's not as bad as he seems.

The news of a rich noble lures two thieves to rob IJM at the gisaeng house. IJM has lain a trap for them, in order to find out who's been impersonating him.

The police are still watching Wol Hee's house, so IJM has Cha Dol tell the police where the thieves have gone.

And IJM retrieves the golden plum blossoms.

Bak Bi Su tells him men of the shuriken's weakness.

After being gone a few days, IJM returns to the cave where Wol Hee and Geol Chi are hiding. He brings back WH's weolgeum and tells them he's found a house. WH's teases that she thought she had already become a widow, since he was gone so long. Geol Chi asks how she could be a widow when they haven't even gotten married yet.

GJM hasn't set out to go after the thieves yet because he waiting for news from the rider he sent to see if Baek Mae had returned to her home. Soo Ryun informs him that Baek Mae is still in Hanyang at the gisaeng house. GJM goes to see BM. He's angry that she left without a word and tells her he won't move an inch until she returns with him. She doesn't want to be a burden and tells him it's no use. GJM says that 20 years ago. he waited for her in the shadows, but he should have waited for her out in front like he is now. If only he had done so back then...

GJM says he will wait, even if it's no use. He will not leave without her.

The gisaeng house loses clients because of GJM standing outside. BM invites GJM in for a drink and tells him the story of the man who waited outside her window every night, twenty years ago (she knew he was there). She asks him to give her a drink and to stay the night.

The corrupt nobles meet to discuss how to get IJM off their backs. Kim Ja Jeom says he'll take care of IJM for a price.

IJM brings WH and GC to their new house. It isn't much, but WH doesn't mind. She says she doesn't need even need a house, as long as she has him. IJM leaves the next day without saying goodbye to WH. GC tells WH that IJM may not return. WH runs after IJM...

Adorable! In one of the interviews, Jung Il Woo said that when they first started filming, the director kept telling him to stop smiling. I guess he smiles a lot more than Iljimae's character. Cute!
