  3. yeah actress choi ri is listed to play her roommate, and she is listed to appear in goblin on asianwiki as well. unless its false and eun tak will have no roommate since she will be living in goblins house or else she just might be at goblins for a an ep or 2 before he leaves and so does she. it will be interesting if that bank book comes into play as well, that could help her financially for college, also roommates sounds like something that would happen in college and since she has a part time job it would feasible that she is sharing a place with someone else.

also while reading wiki the lady in red is listed as the goddess of birth and fate, so everyone here was on the right track.

goddess of fate is called moirai  and there was three of them but they are talked about as if they are one, they are also known as agent's of destiny. their appearance is  described as being ugly old women(ep 1). they act independently from gods and the gods themselves feared them as even they cannot escape fate and what's preordained. they seem to have powers higher then gods and before being known as the goddess of fate/agent of destiny they were known as birth goddesses. the three moirai's are:

clotho: she  spun the thread of life and was there on the 9th month of pregnancy

lachesis: measured the thread of life that was given to each person

atropos:  basically decided how each person would die and when that time came she would cut their life thread.

    Quote

"They controlled the mother thread of life of every mortal from birth to death. They were independent, at the helm of necessity, directed fate, and watched that the fate assigned to every being by eternal laws might take its course without obstruction. The gods and men had to submit to them, although Zeus's relationship with them is a matter of debate: some sources say he is the only one who can command them (the Zeus Moiragetes), yet others suggest he was also bound to the Moirai's dictates." wiki

maybe lady in red is moirai.

@bebebisous33 that's a great observation, i'm impressed with KES's level of research and detail she put into the show, it really enriches the watching experience and the world in the drama. its great when writers and directors put such an effort to not only tell a story through words but also utilize visual storytelling. them spending those 3 years working on this project really shows. i love how how eun tak and kim shin are like yin and yang, one represents life, the other death but need one another to balance and complete each other.and that's represented through the flowers buckweat and cherry blossom, who ever thought.

cant wait for tomorrow to come, this time the eps will be only 1 hr long, got used to the 1 and a half hour length. i would really like to know that if going away for 20 yrs is necessary, now that eun tak is involved, how  will that happen and if there are consequences of him not going.i was surprised with the twist of eun tak not seeing the sword, i think we were all expecting her to see it from the get go, the fact that she cant and kim shin not knowing the full condition provides some good dramatic potential narrative wise.

Hi @bila_a1 sorry for cutting your post but I just kept the part I wanted to highlight. I so agree with what you said. The show and all the characters in it know that ET is a high schooler in current timeline so I think the decision to make her so was perhaps conscious on the part of the writer. I feel like that by showing us ET as a high schooler first, KES may just be off setting any possibility about Kim Go Eun and Gong Yoo not suiting as love interests for when the romance starts in earnest later on. Because I trust a lot of people would be equally upset if they had jumped into the love part and amped up the intensity from the start as then image wise they would not have suited----Gong Yoo looks every inch the debonair gentleman in those suits while Go Eun looks very beautiful but very young. Instead we are seeing a very cute bickering relationship between them where KS and ET are comfortable together, they are sharing little bits of information about their lives with each other and slowly beginning to care for each other. When they do fall in the fate-defying kind of love then they will have already built a solid foundation for their relationship and it will be 'meant to be' and hopefully most of the audience will be shipping them without hesitation. I am loving both Kim Go Eun and Gong Yoo in their roles, I have no  complaint :D I just never realised previously how cute and adorable Go Eun can look  :D

The interactions between KS and ET as we see now is perfect and appropriate in my opinion. Here is an immortal soul who has been living in the world for 900+ years and has probably seen and experienced all kinds of things.......he feels deeply and has an affectionate heart (he cared about the little boy he saved from drowning and still cares about him since he goes to place flowers on his grave, also he has a cute bickering relationship with DH, he has already made the Reaper into a frenemy) so even though he keeps others at a distance and has a lonely existence (everyone he loves will eventually die leaving him behind) he is certainly not cold hearted, which taken together would mean that he has been experiencing hurt and loss since the beginning......in short the Goblin comes with a lot of emotional baggage on top of the sword perpetually impaling his chest. Now to understand the Goblin and then fall in love with him, his bride would need to have complementary emotional maturity, awareness, patience and a whole lot of heart. This is a little over the reach of a young girl who is in the first phase of youth and lacking in different sorts of life experiences that is so necessary for the development and emotional maturity of every boy and girl. The definition of romance for her would probably include 'giddiness' and 'butterflies in stomach' and 'rainbows' and what not. So I believe we will see growth and maturity for ET so that she is at a comparable emotional level with KS when they confirm their love for each other.....whether that will happen with a time jump or we will get to see the process, I guess we will find out in eps 3-4. For now ET's cheerfulness as well as her slight sassy nature is good enough make KS be interested in her as a person and me in these two :)

exactly.  at first i found it weird the amount of times they kept going out of their way to mention eun tak being so young and it didnt help that go eun was directed to play her really young as well. i was like why are they persistent in reminding us that she is in fact very young. and then it clicked for me, this drama already has symbolism, foreshadowing and metaphors sprinkled throughout the 2 eps,so it wouldnt be a stretch to think they are doing this on purpose and usually in most cases they wouldnt do this, unless they had a specific intent of going somewhere with it, no less in a fantasy genre and in a drama where everything is meant to be analyzed and discussed, latent with clues here and there about various story elements. and what's more is that, they havent jumped right into really starting their romance when in most cases that would have happened, they have been very careful about it as well. i have the same feelings, it would have been weird to start the romance at the stage she is a le high schooler, instead they have built this connection they have not of love but of concern  and care in a more platonic way and how in sync they are, i mean they even cleared up the fact that eun tak didnt actually mean what she said  when she said "i love you" "i'll marry you" along with the fact they she doesnt see the sword, and im off the belief that they need to have genuine feelings of love to be able to see it. she just liked his company, was enjoying herself and he provided this whole new world plus it looked like she was kinda having this identity crisis since for so long she held onto being a a goblin bride meaning something, that maybe she actually had value and purpose in this life aside from the girl who was supposed to die. you can see how much it hurts her when kim shin says she has no value and she isnt a goblin bride, because that's the only thing she had going through her miserable life.

also i think eun tak's character is the perfect way to go for the start of their story only because we have seen how unfazed goblin had become and he needed a live wire to come in and jolt him, and eun tak was that live wire, someone that made the goblin confused in how to react cause she was quite unpredictable with her actions and the things she say's.  also she  was so persistent about hanging around him and you couldnt have a 20 something or 30 year old acting like that. this is the building blocks of their epic romance, and you cant have a sweeping epic romance being stuck in one place, there is definitely more to their dynamic and romance then just being cute and that means eun tak cant stay cute forever like the way she is now. we will probably look back at these moments as a more simpler and happier times. if what i think is going to happen, happens then we could be in for a very deep romance and a well built one to. the type of romance i think eun tak and goblin will have is more melancholy in nature(something that i will talk about further in another post). and for that to work eun tak needs to grow up bit more like you  mentioned. its quite exciting actually wondering how their love story will unfold exactly. especially since i saw the bts poster shoot and there was another pose both gong yoo and go eun did that made me go "huh..interesting".

side note: im wondering if kim shin actually leaves or not in the next 2 eps.

    lol i got carried away.

When people in this thread are discussing about time jump, I choose to have time jump in this series. When ET will be Goblin's bride I personally prefer her to be older than 19 yo. Like her in dress for Goblin photoshoot and a bit make up, she will suit much with manly KS then she doesn't need to call 'ahjussi' to KS :phew:, oppa is better haha

i feel the same way, its not that i have a problem with eun tak being 19, its the fact they are constantly reminding you that she is and they have go eun play her really young where you feel that she is young and always wearing her uniform. where as in other stuff most writer's/directors would go out of their way to make the audience forget that this person is actually this young while watching the drama. coming to the photoshoot, its interesting they didnt put her in a uniform in the cast poster or couple poster. that's why im off the belief their will be some sort of time jump. idk i prefer ahjussi lol.

also in the ep 3 preview why is eun tak not summoning the goblin anymore, i thought she stopped being angry with him after talking to the ghosts.she is also happy thanking goblin and reaper as well which must be at the start of ep 3, so her not calling him is towards the end of the drama, and if so, what happened and why did her feelings change , is it because he said his leaving?

Is anyone excited for that brief vision KS had when he first saw ET? Is this how they're going to meet again? If ever they separate?

i totally forgot about this, it looks like she walks past him, he pulls her to face him and then holds the back of head  Blushing

i too wonder if this is them meeting again or something else happened, a fight???/, if we do get her in college, then the romance will start then and it seems like here in the vision that it has already reached the point where he can grab her and hold her face (i assume) like that so maybe this is something else. i cant tell whether she is still in high school or now she is in college, i feel like she seems different. one thing is for sure if it is when she is more older then i feel like their romance will have a very different kind of chemistry, gong yoo and go eun are definitely capable of bringing a intense kind of chemistry, im not sure how it will be but i feel like its gonna be great to watch. thnx for bringing this scene up

  8. i think like others have mentioned, shin cant see her future because unlike everyone else she doesnt have a life plan  because she was never supposed to be born, therefore her future is being written on the go.also i think because since his a part of her future, soulmates and all he wont be able to see exactly what will happen like he is able to for other people, i mean if he did where would be the fun in that,  he wont be able to put up preemptive measures to stop or fix something, so his going in blind.

@winterdew oh no now you making me get sad at the thought of that. but i have a feeling eun tak will start to see reaper beyond just a scary figure trying to take her soul and no doubt they will bond, its only gonna make everything even more painful and like you i do like sad stories as well if they are done is a satisfying way. i've mentioned this before but i would love for the otp to get a happy ending given the amount of bad luck they have been dealt with but i know that if it  doesnt make sense, it could ruin the story. i think KES really shines in the fantasy genre.

  9. i think the show itself is aware that eun tak is young and a 19 year old high schooler, i mean like i mentioned before, each ep seems to make it a point to highlight that aspect.  i dont feel like its a coincidence that grim said "she is 19" or that girl from eun taks school saying goblin looks about 30 and is eun tak's sugar daddy lol.  or eun tak saying she is a high school kid when they were at the hotel.on top of that there is a quite bit of college talk and like bebe mentioned the bankbook and the fact the goblin said you wont be seeing your your relatives soon, along with this being her last year which is coming to an end anyways. first wish has come true now that eun tak has found a job at a chicken restaurant, now the wish about her aunt's family has yet to happen. i think a year or 2 jump will happen and in that way eun tak can still be working at the chicken restaurant since she will be wanting to make money. no way i think they will jump 7-8 years cause what will happen to all the other characters, all their stories are intertwined. gong yoo and go eun have a very natural chemistry but their romantic chemistry has yet to be established, i feel like the drama is holding it off for now until she is in college. or else how are you gonna have a romantic/passionate, sad/cruel intense love story happening. there is definite foreshadowing going on that soon we might jump to her being in college. i think the writer and director have done it on purpose and  have made eun tak feel very young so when the transition happens she wont feel like the young 19 year old we all met.

About ET's inability to see the sword - does it mean that she has to love him (sincerely) before she can see the sword? That means that being a goblin's bride doesn't just mean being a bride - a little more like Beauty and the Beast?

LOL...I can imagine a lot of people blowing out candles or downloading that app. But only if you are a goblin's bride (and if it is Gong Yoo - pick me me me!!)

yeah i think she has to be in love with him to see it, as of now she isnt, and the goblin himself doesnt know that a bride has to be in love to see the sword. but i wonder is it just the bride being love with the goblin enough or do both have to be in love with one another for it to be a truly tragic curse.

  11. just finished watching the ep with subs, loved it, the characters in this show are top notch, i love watching their interaction with one another. first off grim and goblin are so funny, they remind me of siblings constantly going at it with one another.  grim is of course the younger brother who the goblin keeps annoying. lee dong wook is great playing the naive grim.

now eun tak, honestly i dont think many could have played a 19 year old high schooler like kim go eun, she has the mannerisms down. what i like about go eun is that she becomes the character, she is funny, straightforward and has depth. i like how she is unpredictable and that makes the goblin unnerved around her, like he doesnt know how to react to things she say's and does. of course i knew that she didnt really mean the whole i'll marry you and i love you, she is just having fun with the idea of being a goblins bride and seeing goblins reaction. but i understand her excitement as well, after all she is only 19 so it makes sense for her to be running around, i would to and im 21 one, especially when she really hasnt had much luck in her life. i get why she would summon the goblin, she doesnt have anyone else to share anything with and he opens up a world of possibilities. but also i think the drama has done a good job of showing why goblin gravitates towards her, she is loud and funny and warm and once that disappears you begin to miss it. also when she isnt around anyone she isnt as cheery and their is a sadness and loneliness.

ok can i just say i love eun tak and sunny together, its so cute how eun tak thinks sunny is soo cool and pretty, she looks up to her. i find that refreshing because often we get women competing with one another. im looking forward to see how their relationship will grow, i think sunny is a cool character as well and im sure both women will teach and support one another in the future.

eun tak and goblin, what can i say i love their interactions, its fun and cute and goblin was really funny in the ep, curiosity got the best of him.

im wondering, its been mentioned a few time in each ep about this being euntak last year, school is almost finished, she has to apply for college etc, does that mean we will soon see her be a college student. is it possible we will see her grow up. even grim mentioned she is only 19. it makes me think that they are headed that way soon. i found it strange the amount of time that its been mentioned already. i think the romance will start once she is in college or something and for now they are establishing a connection between them and friendship. which i think is a good idea.

also im excited to see sunny and grim but im also even more excited to see grim and eun tak's dynamic as well judging from the preview. which i think will only make it harder for grim to take her soul cause he will care about her as well. i wonder if goblin will leave or eun tak will stop him. next week's eps seems quite full on being more heavier.
