  1. It wasn't important for Se Ra to know how they met and, plus, Geon would have never said anything negative about Mi Young or those close to her at that time, so it made sense that he wouldn't have told her the whole story because Se Ra would have thought poorly of those involved. It was only important for her to know that Geon had completely fallen in love with Mi Young in those short three months.

It is true that Se Ra had never really been able to figure out how Geon could move on from her and love Mi Young. She really thought Mi Young was inferior to herself in every single way until the very end, when she realized that despite all her attempts, Geon was never going to go back to her because there was no one in his heart except for Mi Young. That's when Se Ra finally decided to tell Mi Young the truth about the falsified documents she had shown her before the car accident.

Although... I do have to wonder why Se Ra threw such a big fit outside of the restaurant after the twins showed up and started talking about Geon and all the things he did with his lovely wife, Mi Young. Granted, she was feeling jealous and hurt, but where did she get the information that Geon had "told" her Mi Young was nothing more than a gold digger? Geon was still suffering from amnesia, but before that even happened, Se Ra already knew Geon had chosen Mi Young over her. She already knew that Geon thought highly of Mi Young. Geon would have never said something like that about Mi Young and if amnesia Geon had told her that, Se Ra obviously knew that wasn't true. Was she trying to act the victim to a false story to the Geon who didn't know better because he was missing a chunk of his memory? She offered to care for the baby as if it were her own so that Geon can abandon Mi Young at that time, but... did she truly think Geon would never regain his memories? It would surely tarnish her image in Geon's eyes when he realized all the lies she made up to keep him in the dark, like she was hoping he would never remember. It's a pretty terrible thing to wish.

u are an old time JH fan then, since you are from the Thank You era =D>

I had fond memory of Robbers, becos there was once when i went Seoul, I stumbled onto the bookstore that they filmed yet.It was an amazing experience. ;))

Aww...now I'm feeling quite old. ;) haha...old and era in one sentence? Lol.

That's a great experience you had. In my bucket list, you'll find a trip to jeju island too. Many memories of Korean dramas there. :)

hi trixie, actually all his dramas has something special about them so it depends on yr preference.

from wat i think, he has 4 waves of popularity: Bright girl was e beginning, then some early fans like him in Thank You. The 3rd wave was Chuno which really won him alot of awards. The 4th wave is FTLY.

But from between Chuno n FTLY, I think Midas and Tree with deep root is very good too. But Midas has some has mature theme and doesnt really appeal to younger viewers.

Another notable show is Robbers which hv terrible ratings but to me an emotive romance story.

so this is my longwinded recommendation. :)

Thanks @qwenli. Actually i started as a JH fan in "thank you." Although I've seen him in SSBG, it only made me like JNR. ;)

I've already seen all his dramas you mentioned. What I meant actually is I hope to rewatch them this time while following it on its' soompi forum, much like what I did in FTLY. I know it would give me a new perspective of the drama, which I enjoy very much.

But first, I have to find which drama of JH has an existing forum...time to search. ;)

Alone the fact taht she believes she would not wake someone with those out of space noises in the middle of the night ... even if Gun was asleep, it is still next door and she was quite loud

    ;)
I love the scene as he reads to her and GD

He suggested it in the very beginning when they were starting to film, that it'd be great if they could include that line at the last episode. He already had the big framework of the drama in his mind, thought the general dynamics between MY and LG is MY changing LG's world, and wanted it to have fairy tale happy ending.

  8. Havent done much for our acting genius, Jang Hyuk recently, so decided to

translate this news relating to the photos posted above. Credit to the Chinese translation

    on krdrama bbs.

    Koreastardaily.com

    (Reporter Yeo Kyung Jin)

Jang Hyuk who seems like a man of few words has let us seen

a humourus character Lee Geon with depth through the drama Fated to Love You.

After debuting for 17 years, finally he is “crowned” the comedy king.

After filming the drama Successful Story of a Bright Girl in

2012, Jang Hyuk has appeared as fiercely charismatic characters in Tazza, Chuno

and Tree with Deep Roots. With regards to challenging a comedy after 12 years,

Jang Hyuk said “ I have indeed wanted to act in a comedy however recently some

drama themes wasn’t suitable for me. When I saw the original FTLY, I thought it

had a bit of retro feel so I decided to take it up”

In FTLY, Jang Hyuk portrayed the arrogant Lee Geon who is a

wealthy company CEO and the sole descendent of 9 generations. He had no choice

but to marry the woman that he got pregnant after a one night stand. Later he

gradually understood the true meaning of love. Jang Hyuk, with his special

laughter, speaking tone and ad lib performance portrayed a complete and 3-

    dimensional character.

“During rehearsal, I laugh once and everyone thought its not

bad. At that time, I was still filming the movie Age of Innocence. The

character there also laugh in a special way, so I thought I have to separate

the two characters. While filming Successful story of a bright girl I couldn’t find

a role like the Han Kye Tae. The male leads of romantic comedies must be tall,

rich and handsome like a Prince Charming, it is so boring to act that way. So I

wanted to try something new, an arrogant or YES MAN type.”

In the early days of the drama filming, it clash with his

historical movie filming so Jang Hyuk chose to leave his hair long. However he made

a guarantee to the drama crew that he will try to be funny. Not only did he

imitate Volcano High, he balance an apple on his head to race, he even ad lib

in the drama and used Mandarin to introduce himself making viewers laugh. Jang

Hyuk commented “ This was an exploration, we took a risk and created a new

concept. The early part of the drama has little humours to spice up the drama.”

Although FTLY has many ad lib by actors and many comedic

elements making it like a sitcom, however makjang topics including miscarriage,

divorce, amnesia will certainly turn viewers off. However Jang Hyuk’s

confidence overcome his worried. After watching the original, he persuaded the

director to be steadfast. He was enjoying himself in the drama. He credit his

exaggerated but steady acting to Jang Nara and the director.

During the miscarriage scenes, he displayed fatherly love,

he said “ As a married man with children, I can understand those feelings. At

my age, I will also know that losing a child cause much pain to the father as

much as the mother. In order to film this drama, I went to Na gu tang and realized

many children left this world without seeing much, at that time I felt very sad

    all of a sudden.”

Jang Hyuk perfectly acted the funny, slightly vain yet

mature and sincere character, winning lots of love from viewers. He said

confidently that “Romcom should be acted by people who are slightly older

because at this age we understand love more than youngsters. We are more gentle

    and can display more things.”

Jang Hyuk said his acting is “playing with the character”,

he expressed that “When you have some parts lacking, you will want to fill the

gap and motivate you to learn things you don’t know. Whatever you learn is not

important, as long as you keep expanding, that will naturally fill up the gaps.

The important part is how to create a unique you.”

    :)

...and oh, how we fell hard for the unique LG you created...

tried my best to start on another drama since last week, but nothing interested me as much as FTLY...gave up and been watching SSBG instead...:D
husband immediately recognized JNR (of course) but took him awhile to see Ki Tae as JH. lol.
some realizations i had on my 2nd rewatch of SSBG. i think first time was 9-10 years ago(?)...- even in SSBG, JH's character keeps falling down. lol. (ouch!)- JNR was already a good actress in SSBG, while JH's acting is quite that of a beginner's. made me realize (once again) how much better he had become. he was not bad really but not "the JH acting" that we know since "Thank You." in SSBG, (in my opinion) his movements can be exaggerated. he doesn't know how to use his face (his eyes especially) to convey his emotions so, most of the time, he uses his arms, body...grand movements in general.- in both dramas, JH's character sees JNR wrapped in something, a parachute in SSBG and blankets & towel in FTLY.(no, we don't have that "i wish i was that parachute" moment here yet) lol.- i'm so glad LG was not so similar to Ki Tae. i think LG is absolutely my most lovable CEO in dramaland.

Here's some excerpts from my own translation of one of the interview articles. If you want to read the whole article, here's the post http://stuckonhyuk.wordpress.com/2014/09/21/interview-ftly-jang-hyuk-charm-of-a-strong-and-soft-man/
15 movies and 15 dramas. An actor for 17 years who is soon to be 40 years old, Jang Hyuk’s filmography was earnest and firm. Depth in his acting he’s been compiling for past 17 years made it impossible to limit his character as an ‘action actor’ or ‘comedy actor’. An actor who defies a single adjective to characterize him, I got curious of actor Jang Hyuk’s past life.

“When I received the scenario for FTLY, I thought it’d be nice if Jang Na Ra can act it. When I watched the original version, I felt like it was a combination of ‘Thank You’ and ‘SSBG’. I really wanted to try it. After cast was confirmed I met Jang Na Ra, and she hasn’t changed since SSBG days. She was shy and quiet. It didn’t feel like we didn’t meet for 12 years, I felt comfortable. I think FTLY could be this successful only because I did it with JNR.”

“The male lead in original Taiwan version FTLY wasn’t a comic character. To differentiate with the original, Lee Gun’s characteristic changed. When our director first requested me to show comic actions, I answered I will show him comic beyond he can imagine. But I requested him one thing. To make sure I can always come back as a serious character. Director reflected my opinion well, and he helped me make Lee Gun who is comic but not ridiculous, and is straightforward.”
    1019577_article_99_20140922080205.jpg

“I never tried to look cool and charming. If I wanted that, I wouldn’t have chosen this drama. I wanted to show human side of Lee Gun. I wanted to look more as a man who you want to hug and pat, than a man who you want to depend on. I wanted to approach the audience as a guy who touch upon your maternal instinct, a man who you want to hug and console. It’s not like you can’t be attracted to someone who touches upon your maternal instinct.”

“Lee Gun had his motif from Scrooge. Scrooge is cranky and isolated, he chooses to be locked up and doesn’t interact with people. Scrooge himself is not a comic character, but he does end up creating somewhat comic situations. I referenced some of those aspects."
