I find myself disagreeing with those who believe that the drama will not get higher ratings if it has not by episode three.
All the characters have not met, their relationships not determined and developed. They are not even in their real setting where the drama is to take place. All that has happened until this point is introduction to most characters but with only a few with their relationship and dynamics hinted at or introduced.......and those are so multilayered that there are all the signs for some very interesting storyline in the coming episodes. With each episode the drama gets more absorbing and we are left anticipating the next one.
As far as I am concerned, we have only touched the tip of the iceberg.
There is some substance in how very high ratings are not normally seen in Korea where teen theme driven dramas are not watched by the majority ........but this one is not purely a teen drama because we will be seeing their lives deeply affected by their parents. Already we can sense the dark vibes emanating from each character. I really believe that we have not reached the peak rating as yet. It's too early to come to that conclusion.
SBS went into this drama for commercial success. It will be a resounding one internationally because everything is in place for it to be sold to many countries. IF not hugely popular at home, it will definitely be popular abroad -

@RWSJlove: I am happy to see you liked the post. Please keep on adding on that topic in Park Shin Hye International Community Site. Infact, all inputs are most welcome on any topic over there. Recognition of Shinhye by peers and fellow artists and others from entertainment industry is noteworthy. There are so many that are still left to be added.
@Shinhye Lauren: good to see yet another Shinhye admirer. Welcome! The more the merrier. I have a feeling that the rating will improve as the story progresses......people will be pulled in . Looking forward to the 3rd episode.
Btw, Shinhye made it in the top ten artist for the 2013 Style Icon Awards in an online voting that just ended. But it's not clear if this is final result as regards to winning the award. If anyone has more info in this regard ......please share. -
After watching the two episodes, I am looking forward to the development of the characters as the drama progresses. They all show promise in being very interesting in their own way. I am very curious about their future relationships and how they develop in the coming episodes.
Let's see what KES, the writer has in store for us. I, for one am not imagining but leaving it to her to take me wherever she is going with her story and characters. I have a feeling this is not going to be just another drama.
KT, CES, YSY,YD,Rachel and Lee Hyoshin are all being played well by these young actors and actresses. But, my favorites are the main leads, Minhyuk and KWB with marvellous screen presence.
Although it seems to be an old issue now but please bear with my two cents too.......
I fail to understand all the fuss about LMH unable to speak English without an accent. I would love it if any foreigner would attempt to speak my mother tongue. I would appreciate and encourage him. Many people who have lived longer than KT in America have more pronounced accent and worse spoken English.
Another criticism about portraying America in a bad light reminds me of what Khalil Gibran said,
” two men looked out of the prison bars,
one saw mud and the other stars.”
Instead of focusing on American characters in the drama, one just have to observe the surroundings and the people to realize what it’s like over there. The setting of the school when CES observes the different students interact as she waits outside for KT is just one such example…..teacher, classroom, students, policeman all seem good to me. Just one or two characters do not represent any country.
My focus remained on the main leads throughout the drama though I did wish his blonde friend less screen time. -
I love Jung Yong Hwa's composition. Heartstrings has one of the most beautiful scores that I have had the pleasure to hear. He is really gifted. Love nearly all the songs by him. wish it had been him.
On the other hand Lee Hong Ki has one of the most powerful vocals with beautiful voice and he has great command and range. Some of his songs I can listen again and again...."love,love love" .....love it. I hope he can sing another good one for the drama because beautiful, memorable music score that keeps haunting you does greatly enhance the experience of watching any drama. In many cases like Heartstrings and You're Beautiful.......they become one of the main features. -
The best part about the official poster is that the pictures are not borrowed from other places. It's not photoshopped. The expressions and smile are a result of them actually being close together as a couple/pair. It is the first appearance together as the OTP of the drama.'the Heirs'. I personally think that things look very promising because they look great together.
Having said that ......I have to agree that it is lacking in the imagination department. The fans really did do a wonderful job showing their artistic abilities. With such visually pleasing pair they could have done better. Maybe they thought that their looks and charisma are enough for the poster and therefore did need any further embellishments. -
Wow! She is always like a breath of fresh air! Love these pictures.......what a smile. Did she say "hell gate" ( twitter)? See any signs? Her temperament can make hell better too.... Japanese Fans Vote On The Best Kdramas THE INTERIM RESULTS OF A JAPANESE POLL ON THE BEST KDRAMAS ARE IN.
And the Japanese fans have spoken. A poll on the top 100 Korean dramas has announced the winner of its interim results and it's not a new drama.
According to the current results of the Hanryu 10th Anniversary Poll, the 2003 hit "Winter Sonata," still tops the list of favorite kdramas in Japan.
The tragic love story was said to start the Hallyu or Korean wave, prompting Japanese tourists to visit Korea and inspiring the creation of the first Japanese to Korean phrase book. After a decade, it remains the number one favorite with Japanese fans.
"You're Beautiful," starring Park Shin Hye, Jang Geun Suk, Lee Hong Ki and CNBlue's Jung Yong Hwa, ranked number two. The story about a novice nun pretending to be a boy member of a rock band was so popular when it aired in Japan in 2010 that a Japanese version, "Ikemen desu ne," was made the following year. Jang Geun Suk's portrayal of the arrogant group leader Hwang Tae Kyung is one of the reasons that he remains so popular in Japan and is known as the Prince of Asia.
Third place went to "Rooftop Prince,"
Fourth place went to "Princess Hours"
The poll's fifth place went to "Playful Kiss,'
In sixth place was "Boys Over Flowers."
So far, about 50,000 fans have voted. Voting closes at the end of September with the results being announced on October 19.

Since Shinhye has had a good chemistry with every person she has worked with I see no reason for her not to have it in this drama too. May it be LMH, KWB or Minhyuk. It does not need to be a drama, the chemistry can be seen in commercials and musical videos too. This is why in an article earlier in the year she was called " queen of chemistry". The hallmark of a good actress is to create the chemistry on screen and make things believable to the audience. I am pretty sure we will see her do it with both LMH and KWB also. The fact that she always has a good relationship /rapport with coworkers on the set and off goes a long way towards creating it .....resulting in a memorable drama with a new set of shippers and admirers.

Now that the drama is a month away from being telecast I feel excited about it on the whole with the concerns taking a back seat. I feel that to be a good state of mind to be in. It ensures watching the drama without any preconceived notions that might hinder the enjoyment to the fullest. The good part about waiting for so long is that I have come to know the whole cast well enough to look forward to seeing all and not just our respective biases..........Thanks to all who have been contributing in this forum. Here is to watching together what seems to be a very promising drama with a wonderful cast. -
@guadi: Hi! I have not found my way around viki as yet. I find myself to be quite dumb trying to find you there and having any sort of what might be considered as communication. Yes, Shinhye is simply gorgeous, elegant and stylish in the latest Ceci photo shoot. But, I don't think we will be seeing this side of her in the drama.......and that will be such a pity. Just the thought saddens me . But I like her in anything or as anything . See what happens when you mention her to me. I have difficulty applying brakes. Next time do it at your own risk.
Our LMH is not looking bad too in the Esquire shoot. In fact, he is looking so dashing that I hope this is what we see him like in the drama. Btw guadi, love your fan girling mode. Do continue to your hearts content. :-h -

) .....but jokes apart I can understand where you are coming from. She is such an interesting person that we all thirst for any news regarding her. It's never enough irrespective of being related to her projects or otherwise. A daily dose of Shinhye actually is like food for one's soul. ;
I loved seeing her close friends too. I can understand why Shinhye said that they keep her grounded. They were so natural and likeable and why not .....after all that's why they have been her friends for so long. I think one of them who came afterwards appeared in the Music and Lyrics program for Shinhye's birthday party.....one of the twins. I am really happy that before the hectic schedule of the drama ' The Heirs' she got to relax with them.
@jjsweeter0211: thoroughly enjoyed the gifs of the interview. Also many thanks for the videos of the casts singing in the Heirs forum. Never realized how talented they are until I heard them sing. It's really difficult to choose among them. Maybe they can all sing in the school concert or something in the drama.

@NileRose: regarding SJK's presence at the location and absence from the program, the simplest most innocent reason could be coincidence. From what I know, SJK is excellent at water sports to the level of competition whereas this is a newly learned sport for Shinhye. ( Although she looks totally professional.....amazing girl! @hyall: I hear what you are saying and it is true. Shinhye is a good actress and is adorable, cute too. The nature of the roles that she has played does tend to give a wrong impression of her acting abilities to those who have not seen her in other roles. She has a huge potential to be even better with time and experience.
Golden Lion Awards winner - Director Kim Ki-duk (“Pieta’s producer and PD) praising Park Shin Hye’s performance in “The gift of room 7” had this to say about her.
“Park Shin Hye - the recent most glamorous actress & perhaps South Korea’s top actress with unshakable position in near future! "
Shinhye did say that she wants to play roles that she will be unable to later on when she is older. Her studies that she undertakes seriously also restrict her in many ways. Meanwhile, she takes any opportunity to take ones that fascinate her like DWIAAG and gift of room 7
