    Thanks for the video.

The triplets really have grown up as handsome kids.  They got the modelling talent of their dad, and i can say that they have the potential.  Sik dresses them fashionably and anything they wear looks good on them.  Manse, oh my Manse.  He always steals the show with his funny antics.

Okay @ardently, I'll download and save it for later, maybe when he's no longer acting.

From what I heard, it's too to intense to  handle, LOL.   :grimace:

Okay.  I'm telling you, you're missing a lot.

BTW, i've heard some negative comments about jang yeong sil from hancinema.  I'm not comfortable with that but i don't want to give my comment here.  I'll do it in JYS thread.

You have to face your fears, kona, and get over it.  He's not really that scary and awful, just weird.  Don't you like to see our man in his naked glory?  Savor him.  Lol.

Oh, i forgot.  He looks more fit here with less fat and handsome, too.

I found a clearer pic of song eomma. Do you think min gook really resemble her?

I am looking at the picture of Sik's wife, which i think came from her alumni book. Manse resembles her in a glance and I love this naughty boy.  Sik and I have the same taste.

  5. Thanks, Chellsee, for posting the link of Sik's movie, Tattoo".  I was able to watch and download it.  Even, without the English sub, I could relate to the story.  The last part wherein Sik was raping the tattooist was my favorite.  He thrilled me.  Finally, our shy dragon was able to show what he got.  Fiery dragon, Sik.

Honestly, i was not bothered at all by his lewd scenes.  I like them.  It has been my obsession to see his animalistic charisma.  Not like in the case of Song Ji Hyo in Frozen Flower, i was pissed off, but with our man, i don't know but i enjoyed the movie.

Well, maybe as a true fan, i don't care what he does, how he looks or what he's up to.  Bottomline, he is still Sik, nothing will change in his true character, no matter what kind of role he portrays.  He'll remain the first and last in my heart.:wub::wub:

[Drama Review] "Jang Yeong-sil - Drama" Episode 5

    photo675665.jpg

After a weird opening setpiece where Yeong-sil's personal problems and the greater political situation randomly come into violent agreement, we get a few interesting scenes of Yeong-sil trying to make a go of life with palace scientists. Yeong-sil ends up making enemies by stupidly expressing his opinion and then backing it up with factual evidence. That's a really big problem in a scientific infrastructure where qualifications are considered more relevant than facts.

This is an intriguing story point precisely because it cuts across time so well. World scientific history is full of embarassing fads where properly accredited scientists came up with ridiculous theories that went unchallenged for decades. The reason for this wasn't because armed goons would pop up out of nowhere and physically attack "Real" scientists. No, the problem was much more simply that educated people tend to be very bad when it comes to making cliques, even if they personally find the idea of cliques to be offensive.

That's what King Taejong's problem is. It's obvious that King Taejong doesn't like the status quo, and in fact has presaged his entire violent takeover of the government on the assumption that he could change things. But poor King Taejong simply can't figure out that his strong-arm tactics are what's encouraging various subordinates in all other kinds of random locations to rule by the same example.

It's clear at this point that King Sejong is going to be just as important as Yeong-sil in the grand scheme of things because it's King Sejong, the first Joseon King to be raised outside of Goryeo, that's going to figure out a new better way of running the government that will allow men like Yeong-sil to contribute to Korea rather than make repeated attempts to escape the country and do science somewhere else.

While all of this is interesting thematic territory, I have to admit upon watching "Jang Yeong-sil - Drama" my immediate reaction was one of annoyance because Jang Yeong-sil feels like it should be more about talky politics and yet for reasons that remain unclear to me, the production team insists on filming lots of violent scenes. The threat of violence tends to make for of an impact in this context than for us to actually see it. Observe, for example, how King Taejong keeps managing to unintentionally menace people. In science or elsewhere, professional death is just as bad as the literal kind.

[Drama Review] "Jang Yeong-sil - Drama" Episode 6

    photo676211.jpg

We start out with kidnapping and a swordfight, as I slowly resign myself to the fact that "Jang Yeong-sil - Drama" really does seem committed to telling a standard political Korean drama story only the main character is a scientist for some reason. It's really bad timing for that, because "Six Flying Dragons" is already telling a fairly similar story, with several of the same historical characters, and "Jang Yeong-sil - Drama" can't really measure up in comparison. Yeong-sil being a peripheral character to the action just makes it too hard to get invested.

The palace scenes are also just confusing enough that I'm left scratching my head as to what's going on. King Taejong and King Saejong wear the exact same outfits, and are addressed the exact same way by subordinate characters. In this episode that actually manages to happen even in the context of the same scene. I think, upon further reflection, that King Saejong is still just the crown prince although I'm not totally sure. King Taejong is definitely calling the shots though, whatever the official titles are.

There are still some good points, buried though they are amidst all the political plot. Yeong-sil finally meets So-hyeon again, and impresses her with his scientific power of whittling. For the record I don't think whittling is actually a skill that has anything to do with science but whatever. Anything that gives Yeong-sil an excuse to hang around with palace characters is a move in the right direction, because it's a move toward making Yeong-sil more relevant in the overall story. Right now he's just a backup character.

Although on another level, I'm going to be a little annoyed if Yeong-sil moves up through the ranks solely by making the right political connections. All the scientists and officials Yeong-sil has been fighting with up until now gained their positions through promotional systems based on social class and family status rather than actual qualifications. What makes Yeong-sil an interesting historical personage is that he was of the first group of people to gain access a high government rank by virtue of earned merit.

More and more I find myself unsure of what kind of story "Jang Yeong-sil - Drama" is trying to tell. Although the real issue is more likely that the story elements I do recognize feel completely out of place in a story that started out with a young boy getting all glassy and moon-eyed over science. Yeong-sil is a man whose head is constantly turned toward the sky- so why is the focus on what's happening on Earth?

Does history say exactly the circumstances involving JYS rising to a famous scientist?  Whatever incidents being portrayed in the drama might somehow relevant or in reality, happened during his time.

    Overwhelming news coming out... :bawling:

‘Superman Is Back’ says Song, Choo’s departure not confirmed

    image

An official from KBS child-rearing show “Superman Is Back” said Thursday that that there had not been any definite decision made regarding Song Il Kook and Choo Sung-hoon’s departure from the show.

“Song and Choo are currently shooting for the program. The exact timing of their departure has yet been determined. I hope that reporters confirm things with the production crew before they put out speculative articles,” said the official.

A local media outlet earlier reported that Song and Choo would leave in January and February, respectively.

“Unconfirmed reports give a hard time to the production crew as well as the cast. We will officially inform the news, if some families’ departures are fixed,” said Kang Bong-gyu, one of the producers of the show.

This news make my day.  However, I'm still worried that anytime, a negative decision will be made.  Does anyone remember the page wherein the complete edited episodes of ROS was posted by Kona?  I just lost my files when my computer was attacked by a virus.

  12. Song Triplets Meet Up With Ki Hong Lee From “The Maze Runner”

Song Triplets Meet Up With Ki Hong Lee From “The Maze Runner”

The Return of Superman” triplets, Daehan, Minguk, and Manse have met up with “The Maze Runner” star Ki Hong Lee!

Ki Hong Lee uploaded a video on his personal Snapchat of his meeting with the triplets. In the video he plays with the three kids, asking them if they’re having fun and getting a resounding yes.

Many netizens commented on the similarity between Minguk and Ki Hong Lee and wondered if the meeting was recorded for broadcast in “The Return of Superman.”

Meanwhile, in the upcoming November 22 broadcast,

the triplets get to see other actors in action (including their own father!) as they visit the set of Song Il Gook’s upcoming drama “Jang Young Sil.”

they look good together.  I will really miss the triplets when they leave ROS.  It's also nice to see Sik in his most personal moments, the way he sleeps, eats, his messy hair when he wakes up.  Gosh, those are precious than anything else.

  13. Appa is a rapist and  a murderer??? hmm.... I dunno if my heart is strong enough for this.

Song Il Gook said in many interviews he wants his kids to be proud of his work as an actor.  I'm going to hang my hat/heart onto that and believe his role in Tatoo is not too (needlessly) gruesome!

:) I think it will be "too gruesome" for some. I hope it won't be too gruesome for you.

For me, I think real pride of an actor comes from being able to act well the roles they accept. I watched Jumong and I wanted to strangle SIK for being too irresponsible. I watched him as Michael King and I hated him for his obsession with revenge. That's also why I know he is a good actor. At one point, i wish I could put my hand through the screen and just slap Jumong. I'm not kidding. LOL.

I think when the triplets grow up and become old enough to be allowed to watch his works, they will be proud of their Appa's natural talent and dedication to his craft.

in my opinion, it doesn't matter if the movie is too gruesome or not, as long as it will be done with finesse.  However, his kids should not be allowed to watch this yet, not until they are old enough to undetstand.  Dramas like Waterbloom, Oasis and Terms of Endearment are wholesome with less violence.  His kids will surely like them.  For his great historicals, those can wait.  He killed a lot of people there and the dramas are bloody.

  14. So, they changed the title from"Tatooist" to "Tatoo" which is better.  Now, the title doesn't refer to the lady tatooist anymore but to the significance of the tatoo in the movie.  It's not like she's the title role which makes Sik as the second lead.  That would not be fair.  I'm glad the producer and the director realize that.

  15. Look here!!!!

Our Song triplets will appear in the drama of Song Il Gook.

They are the cutest little beggars..

I read from allthatstar.com that this visit of triplets to the shooting place of appa's new drama will be broadcast in ROS on 22 Nov 2015. It does not seem to be the case that they will appear in drama Jang Yeong-Sil.

they can make a remake of Jumong and the triplets will be the young princes.  Daehan as Daeso, Min kuk as Young Po and my favorite Manse will be the frivolous Jumong.
