  1. This ending.. wow... the almighty is really cruel or should I say the writer..  But, at least I got to see GR and Sunny happy.

I'm just really disappointed. I mean Shin and ET's ending is okay but really... they've suffered enough and this is all they got??? Ugghhh.. Also, what's next - ET going to die inevitably (she's still reincarnated as a mortal right?) Then Shin waits again? What happens after ET's 4th life?? Will Shin live alone forever without Eun Tak??  (Isn't that too much of a punishment - considering he's already with the real punishment) lol idk they should've answered those questions now I'm left heartbroken.. Whatevs, I'll just think that ET's immortal now so they live happily ever after LOL :flushed:

Sigh ... many ridiculous/unbelievable things are bound to happen in any Dramaland, so we always have to suspend our disbelief ...

But I am still not able to understand why SC's heart is weakening since it's so clear by now that HJJ truly loves her ... perhaps it's just a writing device from Writer Nim to separate them, but I hope it can be explained properly in the next episode.

I agree, this is actually a major plot hole since they established that a mermaid only needs to be loved by a person she loves to live on land..

But I do understand that taking a bullet and all that stuff that have happened to her may have weaken Shim Cheong. But, can't she go back to the sea and just return to Heo Joon Jae? You know like 1 month under the sea and then resurface on land... lol.. Also, can't she just use the pool? I thought it gave her strength for a while?? Really, though, I hate that we only have 1 ep left. :astonished:

  3. Hey Everyone! Sorry for being late in the party (lol) I thought ep 16/17 wasn't going to be shown this week, anyways, does anybody have the translation where the General was talking to So, Baek Ah and Jimong? The subs were gone during that part. Sorry, the thread has been crazy and I can't see whether someone have already posted it.

But, can I just say how Eun/SD again made me cry? I knew it was going to happen but still :( Sidenote:  I find it funny how some of us viewers are still complaining about the editing when I think it has already become an inside joke since it has been an issue from the beginning and we just kinda shrug it off. (No offense, don't kill me please lol)

Ruoxi had 1-2 years of her sister training her in palace rules because they knew it was likely she would enter the palace. HS didn't have any training at all. Also, in the C-drama, the princes had more influence in the palace, so they had people watching over Ruoxi.

Yes, but wasn't that Ruoxi the original Ruoxi -like not the Ruoxi who originated from the future or was it the time he was living in 8th's estate? Again, it sucket Scarlet Heart Ryeo only have 20 eps. unlike BBJX, kver is more complicated because of the time jumps and some scenes that were "pivotal" but wasn't included.

Nope, in the chinese version, the 10th prince and his wife got the happiest ending of all

Thanks for the answer, it sucks because I like SD/Eun more than their version in BBJX (lol) Ugghhh my SD/Eun :(

  5. Can't help but cry with SD and Eun's scene in the bath house, knowing their fate wasn't so good :( Yeon Hwa, unbelievable, I do understand where she is coming from and actually admired her because of how badass she is but ratting out Eun really made me angry, also I just realized how Wook and YH are really siblings - they are both wicked. I fell in love with Wook during the early eps and it's still a shock how he turned into this - power hungry monster.

I know HS has been getting a lot of "hate" because she didn't trust So but can I just say, girl what more do you need to trust So? Once again, it's a bit of a let down that she jump into conclusions. Though, her "premonitions" are murky, it's sad that after really knowing So, she still doubted it.

A bit out of topic, I was watching BBJX but stalled - is it the same, was 10th and his wife got killed too?

The difference between HS and RX is that, RX is wiser. I remember that she is knowledgeable in court politics. It is the characteristic that I wish HS has. But I don't think HS is not smart. RX is just smarter.

I AGREE! But they probably have a reason why they didn't make HS smart in the "court politics" department :) I really hope Eun and SD survived. I can't take the emotions already :(

I also have never expected that once a really gentle, softhearted, and thoughtful man could become the most dangerous a person could ever be. His love for haesoo is just so dangerous. Love is dangerous

Yeah, he made a complete 360, I know it's going to happen but I didn't know it could be this drastic.

Actually this lead me to question, did HS really made him desire the throne so bad? If it weren't for HS will he be this cruel to fight for the throne?

  8. Can I just say how heartbreaking ep 15 is? SD and Eun :( I just wished HS was more observant/aware with her "premonitions", idk it shook her when she saw the premonitions then kind of disregarded it after a few eps. Again, more episodes would have been better for the storyline, I felt like there was a lot of moments from the story that I hoped to see in the Kversion.

Wook idk man, what a let-down! I really didn't know he could do that to his brother but then Scarlet Heart Ryeo is like Game of Thrones hahaha!!

I am sorry to say, but I'm not setting too much stock by what the Korean fans want for this drama anymore :)  (I'm sorry, please don't kill me, just my honest opinion :) ). From the beginning, there has always been something about the drama that wasn't to their taste - At the beginning it was the music, too many princes and characters, always something -  now it's not enough princes?? which is why we now have two versions of the drama - one missing a lot of the princes and side characters, and so and so forth. Unarguably, we have had more Hae Soo -  Wang Wook romantic scenes than we would like, but the scenes we have had with Wang So-Hae Soo while not being romantic have shown how Hae Soo makes Wang So a better human being overall. And it has to be said that it is an adaptation, so the writer will try hard not to deviate too much from the source material - Granted, it is an atypical K-drama - there are so many potential second leads and so many kings it seems before Wang So. It is not by any means a perfect drama, but in my honest opinion, for the home audience, there will always be somethiing that they don't like about the drama, but as we can see with the different versions that many of us aren't happy about, you can only go so far to cater to people's tastes before you start to look and act crazy...

yep, since the beginning I don't why but it hasn't been well received by Kfans. I was also concerned at first about the reception and all, but then I became ecstatic since it is loved by a lot of international fans :) (I actually think that they made it this way since it is targeted more for international fans - idk with yg/nbc universal/BaramiBoonda Inc./GT Entertainment - they deviated from the traditional historical dramas) and yes I agree - it's unfortunate that they dwell too much time on Soo/Wook. I think they really sucked at dividing and pacing the plot. It feels a bit rushed now. However, I'm still happy that because of our different take/opinion on the drama - it gives us a broader and intellectual (wow) discussion of the show.

I mean, the man is WS but in the 21st century. His name change to be (maybe) Lee Joon Gi or Kim Wang So, or whatever (like HS's name in the 21st century is Go Ha Jin). He is not the son of a king, but he is the heir of a Big Company. As I said previously that they feel "Deja Vu". They will meet by accident and feel the same feelings that they have ever fall in love. For HS, she is clearly aware that handsome man in the 21st century is WS, while for that handsome man (WS in the 21th century), she is the girl who have been present in his dreams. Forgive me, my imagination moves wildly .... lol ..

This is actually the plot for Scarlet Heart 2 (Chinese Version) though I haven't really watched it. :)

    Quote

An unfortunate car accident caused Zhang Xiao to dream about her unforgettable love with “Fourth Prince”. One fateful day, she meets a man who looks just like the “Fourth Prince” in her dreams. He is Yin Zheng, the stepson of Zhen Tian Corporation’s chairman. To find out what his relationship is to “Fourth Prince”, she finds work as a designer at Zhen Tian. Like any other ordinary newcomer to the business industry, Zhang Xiao is ostracised by her colleagues. Luckily, her superior Yin Zheng sees her as a talented worker and helps her avoid difficult situations. However, fate plays with her again. Just as she’s about to solve this mysterious riddle, an accident occurs, causing Zhang Xiao to lose her memory. Now with no more worries, Zhang Xiao works diligently at Zheng Tian. She gets to know Lan Lan, Yin Zheng’s supermodel girlfriend who looks just like her. Slowly, Yin Zheng and Zhang Xiao develop unspoken feelings for each other, but before it can progress any further, a gentle and considerate Kang Si Han enter's Zhang Xiao's world. It turns out that Yin Zheng, Kang Si Han, and Kang Si Yu are all potential successors of Zhen Tian Corporation. Zhang Xiao suddenly finds herself in the center of a power struggle. 11. This episode literally gave me goosebumps, Wook and So's fight scene and then the crown prince arriving. Also, read some of analyzation which is very interesting. I agree that it was unfortunate that it's only until now that they're really building So/Soo's relationship but we also have to remember that compared to the cversion, the kversion has much less eps. About Scarlet Heart Ryeo pulling a CIIT, I'm not really sure - I don't think I would say that since from the early eps, they were already sharing a "special kind of relationship". Honestly, I'm just enjoying it and see where it leads us, though I'm still curious about Haesoo's previous "premonition".

Also, kind of funny that Yo is still alive, I mean really. lol. which lead me to think that it must be his uncle who helped him? I'm so anxious since we only have a few eps left, would have been better if there were 25 ep.

@MadraRua if we should be pity soo  becos she is now a crippled, then I would rather shake some sense into her and ask her to take the express ticket out of misery by marrying Wang So.

She should stop her noble idiocy.

My very practical husband who watched the show with me said they are just dragging the arc to buy time.pfffttt.

I don't think I can do the recaps tonight becos I think typing and watching the ep at the same time affected the way I understand the drama....am very sorry about this.

I agree hahaha but then this is what makes it exciting lol. I usually have moments (in every kdrama) where I get annoyed because the characters wouldn't just go with the most practical and sensible decision hahahaha but then I still keep watching it. :D

I think it's unfortunate that the kversion didn't put a lot of importance in Soo and the King's relationship, I think it would've been good if they did, the "closeness" of the king and Ruoxi (CVersion) was really amusing.

Anyways, will Baek Ah die?

  13. Man, I hate palace politics - it's just really cruel. Yesterday I said that I'm getting swayed by So but with ep 11- I AM ON THIS SHIP WHOLEHEARTEDLY WITH MY SOUL SO/SOO 4EVS (lol) but really though, the palace is not really for Soo... It's too demented. I cried, literally in this ep, Court Lady Oh :( my heart is weeping. I felt really sad for Wook too, it's not that he can't do anything but he just really can't - I mean with his family at risk and everything that's in line.  Heartbreaking but it's how it works and Yeon Hwa, wow. I really admire her attitude - yes, she is (probably) evil lol but let's try to put ourselves in her situation she's really smart and will do everything to their family the throne. The circumstances are really unfortunate. Also, this ep just put all IU doubters to shame, the girl can act, okay?! Gosh, I wish I can to talk each everyone of them and tell how this ep really moved me.

On the other hand, we'll be getting more So/Soo (YAS!!!) *happy dance* This ep also reminded me of the Cosmo interview where they ask who was the opposite of their character and something like that then they said it was the 9th prince and some of us were still in the dark on what he'll be like in the drama, he's really cunning and manipulative - I wonder if he has any redeeming quality though I really doubt it.

(I've always thought Queen Yoo was familiar then I remembered she is also Bangjayeon (?) in Jealousy Incarnate )

I'm truly grateful with this thread, you guys are really awesome! :)

  14. Sorry but it's no wonder Wang So would want to kill off some his brothers - they're always scheming and plotting against someone. I believe Scarlet Heart Ryeo is much more ruthless than the Chinese version (not that I'm complaining) hahaha. It's a shame that they're in the palace they could've been good brothers. Also, can we take a moment and just clap LJK's acting skills. To be honest, I'm not big of a fan So/Soo but I think I'm getting swayed hahaha!! I appreciate the close ups in this ep too, it gives me the feeling of being there like they're really talking to me.

I have been trying to get a better understanding of HaeSoo s feelings and why she reacted the way she did .From being a girl who comforted him by saying that she understands that he has to kill in this age to survive -To being a woman who is terrified of him even though she is already aware of his deeds was a little unsettling . initially I felt she was overreacting and poor WS was getting shafted again . Then I went back to the beginning and watched all the episodes all over again ( not too much of a sacrifice if I may say :) ) this is what my take on HS s reactions are . In the beginning she was not at all affected by WS and she had no emotional connection with him. She never went in search of him to help or took the effort to understand him . She was her usual friendly self as she was to everyone and helped him without thinking too much of it . Like she helped 14th prince. But now she has that deep connection with him. She has felt pained for him and somewhere though she has not realized it he affects her deeply. That is why the extreme shock on realizing that the man whom she feels a kinship with is the ruthless king of the future. Also if her premonition had shown either of the other princes as the future ruler she may have got worried but never would have had such an extreme reaction. tHis reaction is purely for WS unfortunately for him. What is a little depressing is that this realization seems to have snuffed the life out of her spirit and she looks dull and miserable in all the teaser pics and videos:( WS fell in love with girl who was not afraid of him and stood upto him. It will be sad if that girl never comes back ...

I agree, after watching ep 9, I was also confused why she's being "overly terrified" and your explanation makes sense :) I've also started watching the chinese version and so far the korean ver is doing a good job on breaking away from the cver, though some are still the same it's really interesting how the kver is doing its own thing. Though I agree with you that it will be heartbreaking if that Soo that WS fell in love with never comes back. I can't wait for the the next eps and hopefully they get more support in Korea, I mean I can just imagine the hardwork they put through for this drama. Anyways, I think we should mentally/emotionally prepare ourselves for the coming eps since it looks like we're in for the ride - the pace is really fast and I'm sure there are going to be a lot of ups and downs. Yay!

As for the DVD I wonder if the fact that YG and NBC Universal produced this drama will affect the production of the dvd. Since they're reaching for international audience, I think (well I hope) they're definitely going to produce a dvd for Scarlet Heart: Ryeo.

*Ever since this drama aired it got me reviewing my history and Korea's history lol*

  16. It baffles me too, how Soo disregard Yo as the 'king to be', she definitely knows about him so why not suspect him? lol. To be honest though, I don't see why this drama is getting poor ratings - it's good and a lot of international fans seems to love it too. I wonder why kviewers don't like it that much? I mean some of the editings are weird and also the shots but if you took that out I think it's pretty decent. Also, I feel bad when they blame it on the actors - so far, I think their acting are on point. What do you guys think?

Also... I wonder how they could put a twist on the plot considering people can read/watch about the Chinese version.

W is gonna end soon but I cannot help but to let out some ranting...

To be honest, I've lost interest in W ever since episode 9.. when the dream reset starts and when Oh Seung Moo drew his face as the killer..... I feel like when the writer try to put so many plot twists, the story become messy. Twists become redundant that they are not even fun and unexpected anymore.

I'm also disappointed in Oh Yeon Joo character. She has lost her cool and quirkiness from the start. She only has this worry/sad looks with her ALL THE TIME now. I would love to see her character stand up a bit more, since she may have been the creator of Chul (are we going to by-pass this fact, btw?) I don't want to see OYJ becoming a damsel in distress, where KC has to think of stuffs and save the day all the time.

Agree, tbh I kind of gave up with the plot - I mean it was really enjoyable but it kind of lost its magic after reset and it was just too much. lol. Got tired of guessing and lose all the logic of the drama since sometimes it overlaps with its own rule and all. I'm just really hopping for a "happy ending" and yes, I'm disappointed that they kind of disregarded the fact that Yeon Joo originally created Chul. I hope everything gets sorted in the end. Also thankful for all the casts and crew for creating such a good and refreshing drama. Can't wait for the final ep!

Han Hyo Joo's acting in drama 'W' stirs up controversy

Han Hyo Joo's performance on currently trending drama 'W' has become the center of debate lately.

While the new MBC drama has been doing exceptionally well with high viewership ratings and positive reviews overall, some viewers seem

      Reveal hidden contents

unconvinced as to whether or not actress Han Hyo Joo really fits her character. Some have even called her the only "mistake" of the drama, criticizing her poor performance.

    Comments stated,

      Reveal hidden contents

"Her over-the-top reactions make it impossible to focus", "Honestly, I've never thought she was a bad actress before, but you gotta admit her acting is awkward here... Especially when she's surprised, it looks like a sitcom. The story is so amazing, but Han Hyo Joo needs to do something about her acting", "She's not terrible, but she does overreact, and she just doesn't fit the character", etc.

On the other hand, some netizens opposed these negative opinions, claiming Han Hyo Joo is doing perfectly fine.

What are your thoughts on the controversy surrounding Han Hyo Joo?

    http://www.allkpop.com/article/2016/07/han-hyo-joos-acting-in-drama-w-stirs-up-controversy

Han Hyo Joo is doing perfectly fine, she is perfect!!!My total respect for her work and talent!

I think she's doing fine... I don' know but isn't what she's projecting is the needed emotion? I watched her on Brilliant Legacy and I think she's a good actress, not the best but she's really good... What do you guys think? I think some people are overly criticizing her? W is a great drama.. actually probably one of the best this year.. The story is really good so far. I hope they can sustain the build-up.

Ep 4 is really a roller coaster, one scene they're fine and other HJ is in jail then KC in the real world. I just have some conflicting feelings about the next ep, it's unpredictable.. Anyways, I thought the hooded man was SM or a character created by SM to as what other said, to thicken the plot.

both of them already denied starring in WR...

i wish they could pair in some drama together..
