  1. ^ I just finished Totally Captivated last night. It's one of the best BL I've read so far. I liked Mookyul and Ewon's 'brothers' too.

can someone reccommend me a manhwa or manga...

something similar to "Bride of the Water God"

I like the drawings and the storyline very much... thank you.

You might try Land of Silver Rain (Mira Lee)

    http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_ss?url=sear...p;x=16&y=27

    and/or Dokebi Bride (Marley)

    http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_ss?url=sear...p;x=11&y=21

Land of Silver Rain was okay, and I like Dokebi Bride so far--I'm only on Volume 3. I like the art too. And yeah, Bride of the Water God--I love the artwork.

Maybe Kingdom of the Wind? (Kimjin)

  2. Haha, thanks! ^^

Oh, Ascaris lumbricoides..that's just the answer from wikipedia, not really sure about it either. I guess it's more commonly called "worms"?

I heard it's a terrible habbit getting your pets to stay on human furnitures since they have fleas and bugs. I want to make them stay off places where human oftenly remains throughout the day, respect is needed in the human-pet relationship. You wouldn't want to trade roles with your pet, right? And since our dogs doesn’t shower daily like we do, they can be carry a tad a lot of dirt they picked up from outside. I think that if humans enjoyed sharing their bed with bugs, we’d be sleeping in caves. Fleas don’t care whether it’s human blood or dog blood they are consuming, do they? What they need is fairly blood. Oh, can't forget those dog hair. I have a extremely sensitive skin, whenever I sit beside my dogs or w/e, I got bumpy stuff around my body.

A Chihuahua? When I went for a visit to the vet to get some injection, he said Maxson's a Black labrador mix. Surprising, I know. I wonder how he'll grow that big. Poor thing missed his growth spurt because he had those "worms" inside him. I guess it answers why his so small. He have a brother around this neighboor (though they are seprated with individual owners, they occasionly meet up). His brother is so much bigger and chubbier, makes me sad.

I just can't give him human food due to past memories. My chihuahua named Poppy, she suffered from obesity due to eating human food. She was very sick (almost in the death mode), but fortunately survided. Now, our dog Ruby is extremely fat. She have so much flab in her stomach, it's sort of cute but makes me worried. All I want is the best for Maxson, please, no more fat dogs.

hehe our vet would probably laugh at me. I've never heard the Latin name of them before...it's roundworm >_< People get that too. >< But we never had them, just tapeworm once, I think. For sleeping with pets: it depends on the person you ask: some don't want their animals on the furniture for different reasons, but we don't have to worry about flreas: we haven't had them for years, even though we have wild animal visitors and neighbor cats wandering around--and every year I spray some beneficial bugs on the grass, and they eat flea and other larvae and stuff. We just cover the couches and chairs w/ sheets, and vacuum of course. But it's different if you have allergies, either to pet fur or something on your pet's fur, so I can understand that you would rather ask them to sleep somewhere else.

    That is suprising that Maxson is part Lab--I wouldn't have thought so...we had two full Black Labs. I was looking at the shape of his head and his feet--that's why I thought maybe a Chihuahua--or something else. He has a sweet face. ^^;

Is it a certain kind of food that makes your dogs gain so much weight? Or medical condition? One of our puppy's sisters almost died because she got so sick on the food the breeder was giving them (other dogs were fine with it)--so she stopped eating it. The people were hardly ever home, so they didn't know it was happening. -.- The lady who adopted her nursed her back to health by totally changing her diet (raw foods only), and now she's even a little bigger and heavier than the sister we have. How much human food do your dogs get, though? She only gets about 3/4 total 'human' food in the morning and night meals (lunch is just kibble and plain yogurt with some goat's milk) Do they sneak stuff when you're not looking? Or do family members give them too much when you're not looking?

this one is ours: Her name is Orla.

    http://img329.imageshack.us/img329/760/image1227.jpg

she's almost 5-1/2 months old, and about 75 lbs. Her favorite things to eat are anything food-wise (that she's allowed) and tissues. -.- (bad habit left over from breeder)

  3. we don't give them anything strong-flavored...boiled chicken, white rice (the rare times there's stomach problems), brown rice, yams (American-type 'sweet potatoes'), zucchini, carrots, string beans, slightly cooked beef, scrambled egg; sometimes winter squash. We never had any food problems with all the dogs we've ever had (same breed since I'm 6, so long time =p )--but this one has some food allergies-so no wheat or stuff made with wheat--the other dogs got pasta and some other stuff. Some of her brothers and sister have worse allergies, so they're on a raw foods diet, with no grains at all. Even though we have experience, we still take the advice of the dogs' human auntie--we'd never feed anything without asking. The main reason we don't do chicken bones is because they're small and could get stuck in their throats. >< And yes, moo juice is a definite no for them--she gets goat's milk every day.

  4. You know, I've been avoiding this manga for the longest time. The characters were overly cute and I always roll my eyes when I see these kinds of manga drawings---wow I sound so catty---but regardless of which, this manga has an unexpected turn just to let you know.

(Hinting: The end of volume 5)

Those who read it KNOWS what I'm talking about. You know what I'm talking about parkeun

You will be screaming "W.T.F" when you read it. The only thing that I disliked about the manga was this drastic moment in the comic book. It went from cute-cottoncandy-sparkling-unicorn...cuteness --- to something dark. It was crazy.

But I must admit, its not a total waste of time. Not the best manga, but I could see why so many people like it.

    I agree w/ everything you said--that's how I reacted too. >< I loved it though. After I was done being a leetle p.o.'d ><

  5. that poor little kid. -___- Looks like he'll be okay now, especially since he seems to have a good home with you (he looks happy)--and good for you for giving him a better life. I have to look up what he had--we never had to deal with anything like that. It's okay that he sleeps on the bed--unless you really don't want him to (our dogs have always slept where they want--if she doesn't sleep with me, I sleep with her. lol)--but he is small. Is he a Chihuahua? How do your other dogs get a long with him?

It's okay to give some humans foods--we have a baby too, and most of what she eats we also eat(she eats 3 times a day for now)---but there are also things they shouldn't have, like chicken bones. And that he is little, and away from his mother, he might need a little bit extra--like formula especially for puppies--to help him grow well.

  6. im in need of a good manga...

can someone tell me their number one romance manga recommendation?

    thank you in advance!

This is just a few of the ones I liked/loved: Akuma de Sourou (the Devil Does Exist), Tenshi ja Nai (I'm No Angel!), W Juliet (both these stories are gender benders, some similar ideas, but the stories are still different) Hanazakari no Kimitachi e (Hana Kimi), Cherry Juice, Marmalade Boy, Perfect Girl Evolution (ongoing), Red River (aka Anatolia Story), Can't Lose You (manhwa), Lovely Complex (Love.com); Crossroad. I also like V. B. Rose, but it's ongoing...most of the others are completed.

  7. mythnooona: nah.. not a big deal now. haha! i have digested it. just that this year's concert, there is a segment of keita having ero dance with the 2 female dancers.. very erotic and hardcore. lol. but that only lasted 1 night because fans on that night booed that segment.. it caused the atmosphere really weird and all... 2nd night, ero dance gone softer and 3rd night, they have completely changed keita's segment. no more ero dance and no body contact. well, i was just shocked of the ero dance. haha! cus we fans never expected it but what caused me heart break is those fans. they might not like the idea but they shouldn't booed them.. they might not like the female dancers having contact with keita but they are just doing their job.. doing what they have been hired for and i guess w-inds. is trying to bring smething new to fans but to me, that's a bit extreme. haha! those fans who booed.. how could they?!! are they really fans of w-inds.? their negative reactions affected the whole team that they were forced to change it.

I agree with you. I don't know what to say about those fans--I mean I can understand being jealous, or really jealous, but--it was just part of the show. All they had to do was watch and get through it--and then it would have been done. It's not like the girls were molesting them. Those fans were probably going through all kinds of stuff in their heads, like is he dating that one, or whetever--that's kind of normal---especially when you're not used to seeing a--) that kind of dance by any w-inds. member, or b--) members doing that kind of dance routine with a girl. But what they did--is just rude. We don't really have the right to tell them what routines they can or can't do. I doubt they would have objected if the guys were doing solo sexy stuff. Makes me wonder if it was the younger school girl age, or the middle-aged (55+ plus) ladies who objected so noisily. The female fans that like the guys (any of them--DBSK, KAT-TUN, etc that have had dance routines w/ girls) *that* way--might be upset about it, but I've never hear of anyone booing or forcing them to change it just because they didn't like it. =.=

I got my Journey CD last week. I found DVD in there too; I read the description of it, but don't remember seeing that listed. I can't watch it though--we don't have an all-region player---but since our dvd player has gone to the great electronic heaven--I got permission to get a new one--so going to see how much a region-free one is.

I don't pay attention to their release schedule at all. I can't afford to get all the singles, either. I don't do that with anyone. I do buy them once in a while, though. I do hope they do another best tracks, because there's a bunch of songs I want, but don't have--like Kireida. I have the second one (Best 11), but not the first.

I just read the posts I missed, and saw Keita was talking about his mom--I can't believe she's only 51 (very young mom). It's kind of scary, but at least she's a few years older than I am. lol =x

sweetfantasy09, can I subscribe to your youtube? If it's okay, maybe you'll send me a msg over there (I'm subakai), or pm me?

and be careful of convoing too much--I wouldn't want you to get in trouble. ><

  8. HELP! DOG FIGHT!

    --edit--

    Taken cared of =)

I hope your dog heals fast, though--and that the other dog's people learn to be better at being responsible owners.

xstarBURST~ I've been cooking for our dogs for a few years, including our current puppy. We stopped using canned food a while back. She gets boiled chicken, organic hamburger (probably sounds expensive, but she doesn't get that much) small amounts of broiled or poached salmon, brown rice, string beans/carrots (raw and cooked) , yams ( American sweet potatoes) and zucchini. White rice and pumpkin/yams when there's stomach upset. In the past, I've made pasta and squash, but don't give them as much anymore. She also has food allergies, so she doesn't get anything made with wheat anymore. We switched her food once, and might have to switch again to grain-free soon. >< We buy frozen all-natural chicken tenders (smaller pieces so you can just make what you need for a week at a time), the string beans or carrots can be made from frozen or fresh. When we had our other two at the same time, we made patties from the hamburger and froze them. Our puppy gets it less often, so she has it when we do. Same with the salmon. I think it works out cheaper in the long run, and you know exactly what your dog is eating. We give supplements too, to add any vitamins and minerals they might need.

there's all kinds of diets--many people we know feed raw, including our dogs' human aunt. Our dogs wouldn't go for it when they were older. All dogs are different, though--you might be able to find a diet or recipes that would be good for your own dog by checking Google.

  9. though lately i was kinda sad and mad with keita.. hahah! but.. i am just a fan.. so, i guess all i need is just to do what fan does.

what happened to make you feel that way?? O: I don't hear much news about them.

I've liked them a long time (I'm a neesan fan =p ), but my collection is small so far: I have Thanks, Seventh Ave., Best Eleven, and Koe. Thinking of getting Journey. I can't buy all the singles, so I'm hoping another Best comes out w/ Kireida and a few other songs I've missed from them. Don't have any of the extras.

apple1990~long posts are good--and way better than NO posts--the thread has been quiet on and off, so keep replying. ^^

It's based on the manga of the same name, and it was one of my favorites--so I was really hoping they'd stick to the storyline--there was a Japanese dorama a few years ago (with Fujiki Naohito as the patissiere + Tackey as the boxer), and even though I like both of them--it wasn't the same. I'd read and fallen for the manga--so it was too late for me. lol BUT Antique was near perfect. They left bits out of the screenplay, but they had no affect on the movie at all--the most important things were there. And yes, it's way more than just a gay movie--it's how the 4 main characters interract with each other, and how their lives lead them to this place.

Once I was mistaken for Vera Wang. I could have viewed this as a compliment, overlooking the fact that Wang has a good 10 years on me, but I did not. Then there was the time a woman in the elevator greeted me and welcomed me to my building. I happened to know that an Asian couple had just moved in on her floor, while I had lived in the building, on this woman's elevator bank, for seven years. I recognized her, yet she could not distinguish me from her new neighbor. I said, sourly, "You are mistaking me for a different Asian woman." She took offense.

I regret my behavior when I think I've been too judgmental, when I create difficult moments for those who mean no harm, but I'm tired of being confused with people who really, objectively, don't look like me. I am short, and have been mistaken for people who are quite tall. I tend to wear jeans and loose sweaters; I have been mistaken for people who wear fur and tulle. I don't wear makeup—well, I could go on and on. Given the vast array of those I've been told I look exactly like who have neither my facial structure nor my body shape nor my demeanor, I have always felt justified in assuming that people who make these mistakes are, at some level, racist. Meaning that when they see me, their normal powers of observation switch off so that the only information their brains receive is: Asian. These people see a type, not a person.

    But then.

My husband and I host an annual barbecue for the associates at his law firm. This group changes every few years, so it never seems worthwhile to really get to know them, and I must confess that they are virtually indistinguishable to me except that each year's batch seems younger than the one before. Once a year, though, I make an effort to be pleasant. I know they work hard, and I appreciate what they do.

Among those who were to attend last time were a young couple who stood out in my mind because they had brought their infant to the prior year's party, and also because the wife was Korean-American, like me. I remembered having had a conversation with her, and that she was very nice.

When the guests started to arrive, I shook hands with and smiled at a half-dozen or so people, and then I noticed the Korean-American woman. I was somewhat relieved to see someone I had met before, so I approached her in a friendly way and said, "Hello! So you're taking a little holiday from the baby today?"

She sort of nodded but did not say anything, and that instant was all it took for me to realize she was a different Asian-American woman. One who did not have a baby. I also realized that she looked nothing like the woman I had mistaken her for. I believe I muttered something under my breath, so that maybe she would think I was just crazy, as bosses' wives often are. Or drunk, perhaps. Mostly I thought: thank God I'm Asian. Whatever else she may think of me, at least she can't accuse me of being racist.

A few months after that I was with my 10-year-old daughter at a horse show. Her hair, like all the other young riders' hair, was in two braids, as dictated by horse-show convention. We were waiting in a very slow line to buy soft drinks. Bored, I left the line to pick up a magazine from a nearby table. I leafed through it and walked back, looking down at a picture I had found. I nudged my daughter to show her the picture. She didn't respond, so I nudged her again, and that was when I saw it was not my daughter I was nudging, but a different Asian child.

Even though I knew that this could not mean I was a racist—racist toward my own daughter?— I was mortified nonetheless.

"Oh, I'm sorry! You all look the same from the top!" I said.

By which I meant, all little girls with dark pigtails look similar to a taller person who is not really paying attention. The girl's mother smiled pleasantly enough. To further complicate the matter, at least in my roiling brain, the mother was Caucasian. I wondered, confusedly, whether this changed the situation. If she and I were not from the same ethnic group, did this mean I really was a racist?

A plea, then, for all of us to take the time to look more carefully. For those who see the race and not the individual: look harder. And for those who, like me, may be hypersensitive after years of not being properly seen, keep in mind that while there are people who are racist, many others are merely distracted, overeager, careless, tired, old. We, the thin-skinned, also need to avoid applying the easy label.

when it was over, I thought. 'that's it?' I never realized it would be so short --I knew it wasn't meant to be a full-length thing, but still. Just a little bit more maybe. If I had missed the sometimes subtle looks going back and forth between them--especially coming from Hyesung's character, I would have just though they were close friends...but I got the point anyway, as small as it was...maybe the director thought it was just enough.

I think Jin's and Ueda's topics were moved because they're doing more than just singing. It's not that he didn't like checking the topics--it's just because there are so many--I guess the forum's become really cluttered. If they were only singers, their topics would have been closed (many were), but of course either way, we could and can still talk about them all in KT thread.

I was in there too. You and girl3744 were pretty calm. =p I don't like when rumors are posted--about anyone (but esp. about people I like)--without any solid evidence to back them up. many people will believe anything without even questioning it. I want stuff backed up before I'll even start to believe even a little of it.

Jesus also never spoke or preached about homosexuality, but he did say to "love thy neighbor." More importantly, Jesus wanted people to follow the spirit of the law, not the letter of the law. People need to learn that having the Bible is not intended to be the absolute blueprint of one's life. The Bible may have been inspired by the word of God, but it was still written by men who most likely wrote with their own prejudices of the time in which they lived.

Definitely written down by men. I've heard a couple of priests and two different bishops say this-- that the Bible isn't meant to be followed letter for letter so absolutely--but that it is a guideline--especially because of the time(s) it was written in. Some of it can be applied these days, too--but a lot of it is specific to those times, like the codes/ rules.

about Sodom-- a lot of people who talk about Sodom + Gomorrah being destroyed because of 'homosexuality' miss or ignore the other parts of why the city was destroyed...other than the rapists (those who wanted to 'know' Lot's guests) asking Lot to hand over the strangers, there were wealthier townspeople who refused to help the ones that needed it. They were prideful, stuck-up, lazy, adulterous, and greedy. They were idol worshippers. They didn't listen to God about other things either; he got tired of it and blasted them. Not because there were gay people there.

  15.

if i remember effeminates was translated to sodomists which was translated to homosexuals.

effeminate as a word wasn't even around when the Bible was supposed to have been written. It means having 'feminine' qualities--what does it really have to do w/ sodomy? It's flawed humans beings that put the words on paper. Mistakes have been made in the past, misinterpreting texts; translating improperly and causing problems that have effected people until now. Sodomy isn't something only some gay people do, either. That happens between male and female, also.

  16.

I guess the thing is we don't know for sure (or at least science/geneticists don't) if it's nature or nuture--but I have my own ideas. I feel you're born that way, or not. I've said before I've known a lot of gay men. I've asked some of them (including friends) when they knew they were attracted to boys, and the avg answer I got was from 8 to 11. One person said 13. People claim you can't possibly know these things as a kid, but I don't see why not.

Hetero people don't choose to like the opposite sex--just like others don't choose to be attracted to the same sex. It's not something you can be cured of, or turn it on and off like a light. You might change your behavior--but it doesn't mean you're not gay anymore. Some people have experiences in school, or other places, esp. if it's only a single sex --but that doesn't make them gay/lesbian (or bi ) either.

  17.

^ to be honest, I can't really imagine and end to our Race (homo sapiens), not only because there are so many people (in my other post I forgot to mention the amount of peoeple already on the planet)--but they engage in certain behaviors that may produce offspring, but don't always. (being PG-rated here). So unless our race is hit with something more devastating than anything happening now--that kills trillions and trillions of people--Humans are in no danger of going extinct. The humanoid races that came before us and died out--weren't as sturdy as we are (on the whole). I agree w/ the rest of your post too. In this century, these 'thoughts' (and I use the term loosely) are what lead to to things like laws banning adoption by gay parents in some places.

I also agree that it's mostly other people who make problems- or make people have doubts or bad opinions of themselves--and not the parents--whether the kids come from a blended family, or a family where the parents happen to be gay or lesbian.

  18.

    Define Natural for me.

I didn't know heterosexuality was purely defined by SEX alone. We don't call ourselves heterosexual because we insert a penis into a vagina for sake of making babies do we?

If you follow that logic, then you'll have two separate definitions for lesbians as well as homosexual male (typically called 'gay') couples. Because the former would involve two vaginas and the latter two penises (penii?)

If you say that nature is about reproduction alone, then it is a pretty narrow way of saying, well homosexuals don't count as natural human beings - and for that you will get burned (figure of speech).

I don't see homosexuality as 'abnormal' myself...I say 'hetero' instead of 'straight'...because that implies the opposite is a negative thing. and there have probably always been gay people--but our species hasn't died out yet, has it?. That seems to worry a lot of people--if people are gay, then there will be no offspring to keep the planet populated....they forget lesbians can still have babies--and have done so. They also deny 'lesser' animals can be 'gay', because 'they weren't made that way'. There are plenty of instances to be found where partners--many times for life--happen to be of the same sex...and that's nature's doing, no matter what anyone might think.

it's the same way for people as far as I'm concerned. You're attracted to who you're attracted to.

  19. I want to see it too. =w= I have to depend on youtube for most things, so I hope to see it there, at least. I like storyline too. Thank you for posting that, litto_gurl.

I was looking for something, and found this pic from last June (at press conference to announce the Heart Aid Shisen Charity Event for victims of the Sichuan earthquake--took place in Tokyo )--it might have been posted, but I'm not sure....I think I would have remembered seeing 4 of my Boy people together (I'm a w-inds. neechan too), but I definitely remember reading about it--and if Junghoon was also involved, it might be here somewhere. Posting it anyway, just in case.

one thing that impressed me most is how pd min gyu dong managed to stitch everything flawlessly, weaving two overlapping scenes (1. the police interrogation on kim jin hyuk in the cake shop and 2. when jin hyuk and su-young rushed to rescue sun woo from the hands of jean baptiste evan) to pump up the adrenalin. everything is so fast-paced you can't afford to take your eyes off the screen even for a second.

the pd handled each sequence with much meticulousness that one could hardly find any loophole. of course Antique may not be the most original piece of work (e.g. the moving pictures on a magazine reminds me of harry potter but still it came out refreshing.) as of late but the overall package will leave you on a high, or satisfied at the very least.

i agree when someone said in the previous post that antique is not a gay film, but instead a movie about four guys of which, one happens to be gay. it's about choices, how people can face the worst and still perceive life as wonderful. it's about holding on, letting go, and moving on. the old man meeting jin hyuk in the end is one metaphor that despite the unresolved, the latter is finally able to move on with his life. the last scene where "something good" was playing in the bg, embodied just that.

this is one of my (very) favorite manga, so I really couldn't wait to see the movie. I finally found working links at youtube a couple of days ago. As much as I love Takky, and like Fujiki kun--the Japanese dorama itself wasn't as good as I'd hoped...not that it was bad--it just wasn't the same. But the movie--when I started seeing even the tiniest bits in previews--I knew I would like it. I agree with the bolded part also--this is a story that's much more detailed than it might seem at first. The story couldn't have been told fully without one of the 4 main characters, because their lives/stories are intertwined. (there are differences between the manga and the movie--but I didn't miss those bits of plot--the movie didn't suffer either...they left the most important things in) I didn't dislike Jean's character as much [ ( movie vs book-the violent temper of his wasn't shown as much in the movie--but you got the idea--and Andy Gillet added some charm-Jean is a little too cruel at times for me) , and I wanted to punch the 'old man' (Jinhyuk character) a little bit less. lol I didn't hate him when I understood him better (book and movie). I wanted to hug the stuffing out of them when it was done (hated for it to be over) because they were so perfect, all of them (esp. Choi Inho and KJW, but I liked him before anyway). Between the script, the story, directors/pd/set decorators--and other staff-- and the actors who really were the characters--I was upset and giggled in all the same/right places. I can't help comparing manga to movie-- but if I hadn't read it, I still would have liked it.
