I have another question though lol... do any of you give your dog vitamins?

what ParappaRappa said about food made me realize-I should have added that even though my dog spits up that yellow foamy stuff once in a while and is okay--in a smaller dog the food that is causing that might be too much for a smaller one--when he coughs that stuff up--does it have a bile-y smell? have you tried to convince the table-scrap givers =p not to--just so you could see if it IS the food--or the stuff they give him? also depends on what it is--maybe it's too rich for his system?

and we do give her vitamins/supplements. :3 some especially for puppies, and others...some every day, some only a couple of days a week.

^My pekingese isn't a puppy, he's almost six years old and he's been eating Nutro for approximately 3-4 years - it's what my veterinarian recommended.

Occasionally, he'll vomit runny yellowish foam or has an upset tummy :tears:

I don't know if it's the Nutro or the scraps of table food everyone feeds him.

sorry- I thought when you said 'little one' you meant an actual baby. =p How has your dog been doing on this food? Mine does chuck up little bits of foamy yellow stuff once in a while too, but it doesn't happen often--and it's not usually just from the food (she also gets upset stomach once in a while, but it's more likely my fault than the kibble--). I don't want to say you should switch for sure or not--it depends on how he's been doing on it other than what you mentioned...normal stools, etc. I know some people that like Nutro stuff--and others who've stopped feeding it because their dogs have had problems with it...have you ever talked to other Peke owners about what they give their dogs--just for an idea?

my puppy is a year and 10 months--she'll be 2 in Feb (Irish Wolfhounds don't mature until they're 3). She's been on Flint River Ranch since we have her (May 2009). We did switch her from the original forumula to Lamb, Rice, and Millet because she has a wheat allergy. I make everything else for her...chicken, brown rice, and some veg. Once in a while I give her a tiny bit of salmon or medium hamburger--her stomach doesn't do too well on raw (unlike some of her siblings)><

Octopus__, --I'm so sorry about your dog--it's something I never get over--only becomes a little easier to live with, but it takes a very long time for me. Aziriphale is right--Your other dog does know Chuck is gone--but as long as you love him, he won't always be as sad because he'll have someone to focus on. I think the animals recover from loss faster than we do most of the time.

elizabeth~ thanks for posting the video. ^_^ It was interesting and good to see him. His designs are different-hope he does well. I wonder what made him want to do this particular thing...and if he ever misses the chaos of being a gasoo...it's sure is quieter than millions of girls screaming and screeching at the tops of their lungs. lol he obviously sews well--putting in a zipper is one of the hardest things--but I bet he could do it with his eyes closed. He seems happy with what he's doing.

adikkeluangman--thank you for posting--I always thought it would be Sungjin first.

Well, she would still have her accidents, but i've recently decided to make her potty outside because i couldn't take the stench of urine anymore... Also, she's recently decided to make the potty pads a toy... She has been using the potty outside -- which makes me proud! :) but ever since she stopped whining about sleeping on the other side of this baby gate I bought (the side that's out of my room), I decided to let her sleep in this separate room where its door leads to the outside. She wouldn't whine or anything since i'd tire her out during the day. I'd just have to wake up really early so that she wouldn't have an accident in that small enclosure. I know she's still young and all, but I think she has adjusted. ^_^

Since she's been in the room w/ the door that leads to outside, has she had any accidents in the house at all? it does sound like she's doing better! I know what you mean about the smell. >< We bought gallons and gallons of Nature's Miracle. Should have bought stock or something. lol Nothing seems to work as well as that.

Was it a bad decision for me to teach the dog to use the pads indoors? I mean, the only reason I did was because she's still in the phase of getting all of her shots since she's still a puppy. She's getting her second shot next week!~ Um, but I've read other people talk about pads and puppies and they say that it's a bad idea because it teaches dogs that it's okay to potty inside the house, like even accidents are okay. She has accidents every now and then but i'm starting to get irritated with having to dry up the carpet every time she decides to just take a leak in the house. Should I just have her sleep outside so that she can start pottying outside? Because I don't know if I can wake up every 2-3 hours during the night just to let her go out to use the potty...

Although we've never used them, I don't think it was a bad idea to teach the puppy to use the pads indoors--but now I guess is the time to start getting her used to going ONLY outside...she still is really little--so she's going to have accidents until she has better control over her bladder. The puppy we have now was a little easier to train then my last one (I actually lost 11 lbs running after him cleaning)--you're probably going to hate me, but just for a little while--you're probably going to have to do have to get up at least a couple of times during the night (other than taking her out after she eats dinner + before going to bed), and into early morning to take her out--and then praise her like crazy when she does go. We've had Irish Wolfhounds, so getting them out so I wouldn't always have to clean lakes was a good incentive. >< If I didn't get up fast enough with this one, she would climb on me and stick her nose in my face until she woke me up. Or she'd whine or bark. Loudly. Right in my ear. lol I think it took about 2 1/2 weeks to train her--getting her into a routine--which we had to anyway, because the idiots that bred her did let the puppies go in the house--on a huge heavy-duty vinyl sheet. -____- ((They weren't home enough to take good care of them. Some of her siblings still weren't house trained up to a few months ago--and she's 1 yr 7 months.)) I started to get a little irritated/impatient too--until I looked into her eyes and saw how upset she was if I seemed angry--once they know it's 'bad', they really don't want to go in the house either--they know they shouldn't, sometimes they just can't help it. =/ because she is still small, I don't think I would keep her outside no. But someone may have another opinion.

How has she been doing since she's sleeping in your room? Is she more calm?

  8. Hi ngothuha', thanks for sharing this bad news. I feel sad for him. Also, thanks posting the photos. Oh, 50-stitches because of this accident, quite a big wound. Despite of this, he's still active in this musical show. It's in his forehead - I hope it won't scar his face. <_<

actually, after reading this, I was more worried about possible head or neck injury--even if he has a scar, it won't affect him physically. (hope he doesn't worry about his face too--sometimes scars can add character) The show is important, but I'm glad at least it seems he decided to sit out the 2nd performance so he could rest...even if it was hard for him--as usual, he didn't want to disappoint the people that came to see the show (especially his fans)--but they would have been very upset if he had pushed himself to perform--and maybe overwork himself. ><

I think it's okay--she sounds very young--and like she needs some reassuring and mothering. You can talk to the vet about her shots if you're concerned about unvaccinated puppy diseases transferring to humans, but we've never had a problem.

what kind of puppy is she?

  10.

Does neutering/spaying actually affect a dog's/cat's personality? or does it only prevent them from having babies?

it doesn't really change personalities very much--but sometimes it does make an animal a little more calm--and mostly eliminates a lot of things that come with hormones--like agressive behavior, spraying, and similar stuff. Spayed and neutered animals (and their humans) don't have to worry about things like certain cancers or diseases that intact animals might develop, some of which are life threatening, and can even kill. ><

  11. When he will finish his military?

if this was already answered, I didn't see it...April, 2011-- I think he went in on the 28th, 2009...but if I'm wrong, alexx can correct me. ^^

boobooboobooboo--congrats on getting the movie--if I can find the right version, I'm going to get it also. The best part about having your own copies of things is that you can watch it whenever, even if it's every day. :3

alexx, thank you for posting the jazz vids-his voice gets sweeter. ^^ A little while back, I found this on youtube--never heard this performance of it--and think this is the best one for this song, for Junghoon's version of Aeng Moo Sae.

after all this time (from when it was first posted), I still can't find Bokura no Ai no Kanade with English subs. There is ONE part posted at youtube, and that's it. >< Think they said that the person who originally had the whole movie up--took it down. Has anyone seen it uploaded anywhere? Don't want to download--just watch. Also please say what you thought of the movie.

Does anyone know which type of raw bones dogs can chew or if it really is safe? I know you're not supposed to give them cooked bones because it can splinter. I took my dog to the vet to get her booster shots and the tech did a general check up on her and said that she would eventually develop gum disease because of the tartar on her teeth. The tech recommended that she get a Nylabone so I bought one for her and she won't chew it! Sighh. $8 down the drain :( She only likes plush, squeaky toys. If this info is needed, she's 15 pounds; bichon/poodle mix; 3 years old; allergic to wheat products. Oh and I have already started brushing her teeth almost every single day.

Also, I've been wanting to get her fixed for a while now and my dad won't let me because he thinks she's going to be boring. -__- I've even told him all the health risks and he still won't let me fury.gif

our friend, who has bred and raised irish wolfhounds for like--35 years or so--uses raw organic beef bones. She's recommended we give them to our puppy too (she has her brother)--but my mother has never really liked that idea...we stopped giving them to our dogs when I was still little. Our friend's dogs never have any problems though...she watches and them while they have the bone, and throws it away when it gets gross, and before it gets a chance to dry out. I have to brush my puppy's teeth too because she does have some tartar, and she doesn't get the raw bones. I don't want her to have to go under just to have them cleaned. My dog is also like yours--she loved the plush/squeaky things, but she's banned from them--until she stops ripping things up. -.- I wasn't sure she would like them (she does now), but I got her some rubber toys, and she has a Kong. I think they help with her teeth some, too. We used to used Nylabones also...but stopped buying them, because when they got chewed down and dried out--the ends got really sharp and cut their gums (also have heardand read that the plaque attackers can be chewed up and swallowed----some people have lost their dogs). >< But--especially if you decide you don't want to give your dog raw bones--you might try something like this:

    http://www.pet-dog-cat-supply-store.com/shop/index.php?page=shop-flypage-4327#longdesc

Kong stuff is totally reliable, but we haven't tried this particular one yet...thinking about getting one though.

  14.

yes, he's eaten cat chow for as long as I can remember. Oh and I forgot to mention he's been drinking more water and peeing more. I really doubt he's stressed, since nothing has changed and he's acting normal otherwise. I want to take him to the vet but my mom doesn't want to pay for any tests or medicine they might give him. -_-

I don't want to scare you. >< But it's also possible your cat might be dealing with diabetes...or maybe something kidney-related. It could be as simple as changing his food. I agree with Aziraphale--hopefully you can convince your mom that your cat needs to see a vet...it's the only way you'll find out what's happening.

    edit:

Do you notice if he seems like he has any pain when he's urinating? Does he always use his box?

kiralz0mg~ babies and little kids are all about exploring. =p they're curious about everything. it's great that you're going to have him neutered--that also might be part of why he wants to chase other cats when he sees them. His behavior might change a little after he's fixed--not for the bad, though. He might not want to wander as badly. I say might because every cat is different...but neutering does cut down on the hormonal urges. All our cats have come from outside, except for one. Once they got a little more used to being in the house--after they were spayed/neutered--they never tried to get out again--except for one. She scratched at the door for a couple of weeks, and that was it. A couple of our cats (including the current one) have tried to get out, just to look around the backyard...but mostly they're happy enough looking out the windows or sliding glass door.

You really can't stop a puppy from teething.

Puppy mouthing/nipping should be stopped while they're still puppies, so I don't know why some Soompiers encouraged it o.O

Sure it may be cute now, but when your puppy is full grown with their adult teeth, it's no longer cute.

I hope I wasn't one of the people who was encouraging puppy teething. >< We've had a bunch of puppies over the years, almost all Irish Wolfhounds. No one was ever like our current one. She wasn't birthed by the most intelligent breeders, and came to us with some very bad habits. -____- She was so adorable, but like Puppyzilla. When we got her last May, she was about 38 lbs, and had tiny needle teeth. While I never had more than a few bruises--my sister's arms were covered. We were raised with animals, so you think she would know better, but when we said don't let her bite, she only listened half the time. Other times, she did and does what she wants...and when the puppy (who is about 1 yr 4 months + 135 lbs now, with bigger teeth and harder bite) grabbed her, my sister still encouraged her by laughing. So like you said--the puppy figured it was okay. -.- Sometimes she (my sister) gets her all worked up--and when the puppy gets too rough--then she starts saying 'no'. Maybe I should smack her with a rolled up newspaper.
